10 reviews for Suthanya Thai Rennaisance Bistro
I have eaten at least a dozen times over a 6 month period and we always got wonderful food.
I cannot say that the food is greatly authentic as I have only been in Thailand for a short period and my favorite dish that Suthanya makes is her Curry.
The restaurant is very homely so if you like professional restaurant atmospheres you probably will not care for this very much. However if you can live with this then you will be in for a great surprise. She offers decent size meals that can easily be shared and at times her son will play classical music on the Piano which is great to hear.
As well if you order food to go I suggest you wait about 30 minutes for it to be made. We did take out about 8 times and of those only 1 time did we have to wait for our food to finish. She usually gives a box of some sort to carry the food and separates the liquids from the main meal so that it doesn't get messy. I would say if you have not been here and are in the area to try it out.
The food was very authentic, but I believe it is now under new management.
The decor is a bit cluttered but great for take out!
This restaurant will surprise you! It looks like it's in the owners house. And it really resembles the "Renaissance" period. Her decorations of the place is great.
She plays the piano while you eat too.
When I order food, sometimes I like to mix some of their dishes together. And she just did that! She made my custom order which... i love when restaurants can do that.
We also ordered the fried wontons... and seriously.. im still thinking about them. they are THAT good!
good food.......... They deliver! Can you believe it? In Des Moines (not NY) they actually deliver.
four stars - I'm a total fan!
The food is very good here and the decor is as my daughter quoted "This is how I would like my house to look like" It is very nice inside. The atmosphere is also a plus.
Delicious!
I recently went here for a take out order, and the food was delicious! The lady, whom I think is the owner is very nice, and was very helpful in making reccomendations on the menu.
I hope this restraunt sticks around.
after i picked my wife up from the airport i took her here. She didnt know that i was taking here her and it was a great surprise. We have eaten at 3 different Thai places in california and they all are about the same on the yellow curry chicken. that is what i always get. At this place it was different, it had pineapple and some kind of peanut, i think cashews. We told the waitress that it was different and she said that in Thailand they put pineapple in it, it made it alittle sweeter and i liked it also. The Thai Tea was darker and looked more natural. It was really good and the best we have had. It didnt have an orange color to it. My wife got the pad thai and she said it was ok but it was to spicy for her even though she requested not to hot. we heard the other couple in the complain about something they got and it was to spicy for him, so make sure you dont get it spicy unless you can handle it
Sister restaurant Archa Thai located in Kent, Wa. I found this restaurant just as cute as Archa. Its located in a old historic home in Des Moines. Once the living room, hallway and dining room now offers intimate seating and warm enchanting atmosphere. The menu is a little different than Archa, but the food and quality are the same -- TERRIFIC. I also found this spot to be a little more pricey than Archa, but well worth it. Again, as always, I love finding unique spots and this one definitely deserves your attention! During the holidays, the house is nicely decorated and reminds me of visiting family.
Had lunch here with coworkers, $10 each for small soup, fresh crab rangoons, pad thai, rice, and a medium sized main course (spicey beef tenderloin with vegetables!) The food was wonderful and all of my coworkers agreed.
This place is very nice inside with beautiful decor and has great service. The owner is on top of the whole thing and has done a great job, especially for the money!
The last Thai experience I had in the Des Moines area was pretty bland, and I kind of figured it'd be silly to expect to find a delicious Thai place here. Suthanya Thai Rennaisance Bistro completely changed my mind. The food here is excellent. I honestly can say the Thai here is better than any Thai I've had in San Francisco, or anywhere else really. The food is flavorful and can be made spicier by choosing 1-5 on the spicy scale. The decor was unexpected but really cute.... I felt like I was in a cozy, well decorated home. The service was exactly what it needed to be and not intrusive at all, and our waitress was very sweet.
We ordered:
-Pad Thai at a 4, which was spicy and soooo good. The noodles were tender and not sticky and the peanut flavor wasn't overpowering.
-Swimming Rama at a 3 with chicken in a sweet sauce over spinach and bean sprouts.
-Pad See Ew at a 3 with deep fried tofu. My dad cringes even hearing the word tofu, but i convinced him he'd probably like it if it were deep fried, and he did. The noodles were cooked so well, the sauce was delicious, and the tofu was crunchy and amazing. Definitely the best Pad See Ew I've ever had.
Please go here! They're a fairly new business and I have absolutely no complaints, only great compliments. This is a place that I'll definitely come back to every time I come to Des Moines to visit the parents. If its gone whenever I come back, I blame every single person that read this review and didn't go, and I'll punch you.
