Review from Dan R.
We visited the Susquehanna Art Museum the other day while downtown, Admission is free through the end of September thanks to a grant from the Wachovia Foundation. It is at the Corner of Market and 3rd Street. It is a 3 story building that consists of the Doshi Gallery on the first floor, Treasures from the attic on the second floor and Creation Station & offices on the 3rd floor. The museum also has the VanGo! bus as part of the ticket price, but it wasnt here today, it was out traveling around visiting schools and festivals, etc.
The museum itself was not that large, but still is worth seeing if youre in the area. Im not a big fan of art, but I do enjoy Dahli, Durer, Mucha and Tiffany. Many of the pieces were on loan from the state museum, historical society of cumberland and dauphin county, the hershey museum, civil war museum, perry council of the arts, and dickinson college.
All in all it was worth checking out, there was a receptionist who gave us info, brochures, and told us about each different thing there. Equipped with stairs or an elevators for wheelchairs, and free on street parking on weekends too. http://www.sqart.org -
Review from Steve P.
Ah, the place I proposed to my fiancee in. How could I not have reviewed it. Oh that's why, it's because I would have felt biased in how helpful everyone was in getting me all the information and anything else that I needed to make the day memorable. (Boy was it, I'll have to tell the story later) Suffice to say, I have spent some time in the what I call "Squart". The employees are helpful and friendly. Even before I had made any requests of them I staked out the place and each time I didn't have any problems at all. The first floor is their local exhibit section where artists from all over the central PA area can showcase their work. The second floor is where the main showcase is held. At the time the display we were viewing was modern mystery and visual illusion. (Fit in perfectly with how I popped the question) The building is clean, and looks just like an art museum would. Visible duct work lends itself to the image as well. The only problem is parking can sometimes be a pain to nail down.
