Blah! Not good at all! I give it 3 stars because the owner was nice to me. It's owned by a Korean couple. Go a block down to Sushi Plantation...it's way better! Tell them Catherine sent you and they will give you 15% off. =)

When I went to Sushi Zone I was surprised by how nice it is inside. The employees are very friendly and the sushi was great. Very fresh sushi. The macho man is excellent. Nice atmosphere, reasonable prices, good service and great food. Will definitely be going back.
What can I say about Sushi Zone, they really treat you like family here. From a wonderful greeting when you walk in the door to impeccable service, including filling up your water when it 's halfway full to making sure old dishes are cleared to enjoy their awesome food. Oh yeah, the food is really really great. Very creative rolls, very fresh sashimi. They even give you a membership card so each time you come in and spend money, it adds up to something. We haven't filled our card yet, but maybe one day we'll get a prize. For now, we enjoy the prize of an all around enjoyable experience. Go to Sushi Zone, you'll be glad you did!
I love this place!
Especially the Baked Spicy Lobster Roll! Yum!
Plus its really clean and the staff is super friendly.
I eat here whenever I can.
And by the way, does it seem odd to anyone else that Catherine L. and Michael V. included advertisements for other sushi restraints in their bad reviews? I have a feeling they work at those places!

Sushi Zone is Great! Alex the owner is also the sushi chef and he is the nicest guy! The food is great! Try the Lobster roll. Mmmmmmm. Definitely try this place.
Average sushi, nothing that special compared to other sushi bars in south OC. Prices were decent. No comparison to Kanpai Sushi's Tuna Tataki Roll... quite disappointed.
Visited based on Yelp reviews, and I was not disappointed. The staff were very nice, the food was good, and the prices were fair. So far the "Macho Man" roll is my favorite, but I'm looking forward to visiting again when I'm down that way. Maybe I'll discover a few more rolls to keep me longing for more frequent trips to Orange County.
Okay wow, what a fantastic place. The owner Alex is the coolest guy you'll ever meet. He's got about 25 sauces behind the counter and he wants you to eventually try every one...which he'll often offer you with some fresh fish for free if you come during the slow hours.
Can't argue with any of the other yelpers here, absolutely excellent service. The rolls are delicious as well as generous.
Let Alex know what your favorite fish is, he'll whip up something for you. He basically wants his customers to try new things to see if they like it so he's always got recommendations.
I'm not in South County often but I will frequent this place every time I do come down. I am a sushi fiend, and have now dubbed Sushi Zone my new favorite sushi joint.
Sushi Zone rocks! We have been here about four times and it's been great every time. The fish is very fresh, they even gave me extra salmon sashimi for free when I raved about it! The service is VERY friendly and quick. The waitress likes to play with my kid, who is just 16 months old. Imagine that, a sushi bar that you can bring a baby to.
I went there for take out once. While I was waiting for the food, the sushi chef gave me an octopus salad for free. He didn't even ask if I wanted it, he just gave it to me. Japanese hospitality is alive and well in this great little gem of a restaurant. Located directly across from Lexus of Mission Viejo.
I am not a big fan of sushi - usually I go to a sushi restaurant just because my husband has been deprived of it for weeks.
However, Sushi Zone is an exception - it is the only restaurant I'll go to and eat Japanese food without complaining, because the food and service is so good. I guess surprisingly, everyone gets their sushi from different suppliers because this one has fish that is more fresh than any of the others (Kitayama included) in Orange County. We are lucky that it is not as crowded because of the obscure location (across the street from the Lexus dealership in MV, in a small strip mall and very easy to miss). Usually, in places like these in this price range, they hire non-experts to do the "labor" of creating sushi, but here the owner (Alex) is the head chef himself, usually supported by one or two sous types.
Thus the fish is always fresh, the food is always artfully prepared (he also makes his own fusion creations, sometimes french/japanese comparable to Ikko retaurant) and the service is always excellent. In addition, I think this is the only sushi place in this price range where when you order a sushi combination lunch or dinner, the tamago (egg) and other non-sushi varieties are included as part of the piece-count, but each piece is actually sushi. Big city quality food with local suburb hospitality - definitely on my OC list.
Pros: Freshest fish, artful creations, great customer service
Cons: Low profile (but works to our advantage)

I had to grab my personal Sushi Zone menu before starting this review so I can pick off all my favorite dishes here
I work near Sushi Zone and it is one of my favorite lunch picks. My friend and I meet up here alot for delicious, fresh and affordable sushi. On top of the good food, the service is really excellent too, and that's rare in my opinion because even though I'm not too hard to impress with service, I get easily annoyed with bad service, and the owners here have always tried to accomodate my "special" orders and requests without being annoyed themselves. =P
Most of the menu is devoted to sushi, rolls and a variety of appetizers. I've only ordered the hot food a couple of times, it's not bad, but I prefer their rolls. They have the usual Bento combos where you can pick 2 or 3 items from tempura, chicken teriyaki, sashimi, crunch roll, etc., and they also have udon for those feeling noodley and soupy.
Anyways, on my to MY fave items. =)
Yokozuna Roll - It has GENEROUS portions of eel, crab, avocado, salmon and shrimp tempura, masago. YUM. It's a baked roll topped with mayo and so good. This is the one thing I HAVE to order when I come.
Tokyo Roll - It has yellowtail and albacore, on a spicy CA roll. I like white fish because a lot of times I get tired of the usual tuna or salmon that's on a lot of rolls.
Macho Man Burrito - I liked this only OK. It has two big pieces of salmon and tuna with rice and crab filling wrapped around it. I think the rice was too much for me, but when the owner noticed that I was picking off the rice, she told me next time I can just ask for less or no rice.
Poki Salad - It has a yummy spicy dressing with a medley of different sashimi pieces.
A few negative things would be the wasabi. I think the last time I went it was OK, but all my previous trips it's been very bland, no kick or flavor, but hopefully they've remedied that.
OH, and they have this Club Sushi Zone card you can get. You get 5% credit for every order you pay over $10 and once you accumulate $30, you can spend it on a meal! I'm almost there. =)

I definitely have to come back here for sushi, we just each had a beef teriaki bowl and tempura. The batter is really really thick on the tempura we were picking some off. But the beef bowl was really the best beef bowl I'd ever had. All we wanted was something simple (I was just really in the mood for rice) but the meat, ...the meat, was tender and fresh and definitely not overcooked. It was made med-well and not well, done chewy as you get in other places - or even chopped into tiny pieces and quickly fried. This was good meat, for me to say this is a big deal since I'm the girl who always gets seafood at steak places because I'm not a big meat eater...
oh man, i have to say awesome sushi for south orange county. their prices are affordable and they are very generous with their rolls! my husband and i ordered the popcorn lobster roll and salmon skin roll, and we were both stuffed from that. and of course, you HAVE to try their black sesame ice cream - it has such a distinct flavor. i highly recommend leaving room for dessert. i haven't tried anything else here yet, but i look forward to coming to this place to explore other dishes.

The sushi was fresh! The service excellent! The prices were affordable! You can't beat that! Well, maybe...the sushi chef/owner gave us some yummy freebees!
On an emotional attachment note - my boyfriend proposed to me in front of the restaurant. So this place is more than just good food......

what an amazing dinner!!!! extremely friendly service, AMAZINGLY wonderful, giant rolls... the whole experience was more than 5 stars! the bf and i ventured here last night after reading the reviews here... you guys weren't lyin'! this is THE best sushi restaurant around! the FRESHEST and TASTIEST tuna ever (i'm a huge fan... the sushi chef heard me talking about it and gave me an extra sashimi piece!)!!! i am a super fan of sushi zone!
Ate hear back in September I believe. All I have to say is wow! I was across the street at the Lexus dealership and this place caught my eye. I am very glad I dropped in to try this place out. First and foremost, the service! The staff is very friendly and the chefs are quick to offer suggestions and information about the food. I don't remember our chefs name (probably all the warm sake), but he hooked us up with a couple small dishes for free (I wouldn't expect this every time though.) Yellow tail collar was very good, flaky but not dry. The rolls we had were very good, the Yokozuno Roll(spelling?) was just plain amazing, whole' lotta' roll. We also ordered some rolls to go, it's a shame that the beautiful presentation was destroyed on the drive home. =0/ I don't believe I've given out 5 stars yet, so this is my first, but man oh man this place shined. The food was good, the service was great and I left wanting more. My only complaint is that they are so far away from me (20 min w/ no traffic). DO NOT OVERLOOK THIS PLACE! A+
Great food, Love Sashimi Salad
