Great experience dining here! Don't be put off by the tiny restaurant size, it's well worth it! Tequila and Sushi - interesting, right? it's fab. The best part is having drinks outside on the patio and then eating dinner. You can dine both inside or outside on the Intercontinental patio. We had the most fresh toro and rolls - yum, yum! Dinks are awesome, service great. A bonus is they offer dessert from teh french place acroos teh lobby - had the cheesecake and was blown away!

Def pricey, but it's worth it for the freshness and location! Especailly because there are not a lot of sushi spots in this area.

I was staying at the Boston Intercontinental Hotel for a night and was in the mood for some sushi.  Turns out I didn't have to go far because there is a sushi bar right in the hotel...Sushi-Teq!

It's sort of a concept place that takes sushi and pairs it up with different types of tequilla drinks.  When I first walked in the place is pretty small but had a good crowd.  I sat at the bar.  I was immediately greeted by the waiter.  I wasn't terribly that hungry so I opted for the Sushi-Teq special and some edamame (Japanese soybeans).  The "Sushi-Teq" special is a 6 piece toll with spicy cooked salmon that really hit the spot. The wash it all down the bartender made me sort of a margarita concoction that was part lime juice, tequilla, and ginger beer.  It really completemented the sushi.

If I ever stay at the Intercontinental again this is where I'll be at.

Sushi and a tequila bar all in one? What a concept!

Alyson G. and I went here for dinner and had a marvelous time. The food was fresh and delicious, the drinks were stellar and the atmosphere was trendy and chic without being pretentious. Like Mare, the walls change color every few minutes which makes for a fun ambiance.

We got the hamachi ceviche to start. Now, my obsession with hamachi is well-documented so it should come as no surprise that this dish won raves from me. But it also won raves from Aly! Gorgeous thick cuts of yellowtail beautifully curled up and accented with chili hot dots, black
sesame oil and ponzu--how can you not like this?

For sushi, we split the spicy tuna roll, the rainbow roll and the 510. The standard rolls were excellent but not any different from incarnations I've had at other places. The 510 was truly memorable. Fresh white fish (we had snapper), yuzu, cilantro and ikura, atop an inside-out roll of avocado, cucumber, tobiko and asparagus with jalapenos, dressed with tosa soy and shiso. It tasted earthy (because of the asparagus) yet fresh and savory. The snapper was almost like a second wrapping for the roll, which made it gorgeous to behold.

For dessert, we got the cheese plate and the rosemary and lavender creme brulee. I wasn't terribly impressed with the cheese I tried but the creme brulee was delicious. It was richer and thicker than others I've had but the rosemary added a very interesting twist. FYI, the desserts are from next door Miel.

Verdict: Pricier than I'd like to pay for sushi, but certainly worth checking out.

    One word: Salmon!!!
They have probably one of the best salmon you can find in Boston.  Its not as good as the ones we had in tsukiji (Tokyo), but close enough.
Sushi-Teq is not really the place for those "American Sushi (fancy inside out-rolls)", but if you like simple nigiri, it is the place to go.  They serve very good quality Uni (sea urchin) without ridiculous price tag.

highly recommended if you enjoy high quality of raw fish and not those fancy rolls.

This is a journey. So sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. ^_^

This review is so long overdue that I fear those that I am apologetic to, may now disown me and never allow me back into their establishment! So believe me when I bow at the waist and extend my humble apology to the Intercontinental Hotel management and staff, to Chef Toru Oga, and my fans/followers.

My First visit was in 08 (thank you Colleen), and every year, I have made it a point to visit sometime around Labor Day (my birthday). That visit concluded with me becoming the BIGGEST fan of chilled Cafe Patron!!!

My second visit, was a night sampling from restaurant menus offered throughout the Intercontinental Hotel-Boston.

Now jumping to: Last night. My 5th visit to Sushi-Teq.

My second visit this year, last night, was more business than pleasure. It turned into a night to remember.

After conducting preliminary outline for an upcoming meeting with THE Award Winning Executive Chef of the Intercontinental Hotel, I met up with a friend who has NEVER I repeat NEVER tried REAL sushi. I don't mean the stuff at your local market, but REAL AUTHENTIC SUSHI! After being revived by hotel staff, I got off the floor. Dusted myself off and made my way to Sushi-Teq with my friend in tow. Mind you, this is Saturday NIGHT and who is standing in front of me ordering sushi for a party of 15: Tsai Ming! (What is it about me and well know persons meeting on Saturday's in the most obscure places?)

I ordered for my friend as he had no obvious clue about any of the descriptions on the menu. When our order arrived, I gave him a quick lessons on how to use chop sticks (with AUTHENTIC Asian food, flatware actually transfers metallic notes to the food. Therefore, altering your palate's interpretation of ingredients it is experiencing).

The FIRST bit, had his eyes rolling into the back of his head and superlatives effortlessly rolling off his lips! "I never understood why people liked sushi before." He stated. "NOW, I do! And I am GLAD, You don't even understand. Ecstatic, that I work as much as I do. Because with you my friend, introducing me to the wonders of  REAL food and now Sushi, I would be in the poorhouse! "

This sums up every visit I have had to Sushi-Teq. When the bill came he was SHOCKED that it was not as expensive as he thought the quality and experience should warrant!

Will your experience at Suchi-Teq be as memorable? That's a question you'll have to answer for yourself.

Probably the most hilarious example of Food Network inspired, concept over function in the whole city.
The first thing that kicks you in the proverbial balls when you walk in is that the whole room keeps changing color. Yes. I really mean what I just wrote. The walls are made of translucent white plastic with neon lights in back of them and they keep shifting the color of the whole room. Hey jackass owner: your fish doesn't taste any fresher in green light than it did in red so cut the crap. The second thing that attempts to swear off dining out and buy shares of Hungry Man is the music.

You see folks, this place is attempting to combine the simplicity and splendor of Japanese sushi with vivacity and flair of Mexican tequila. So naturally, they are blaring Salsa music. Not only that, but in their little tiny red menus, they assure you that salsa music is indeed playing all the time in there, everyday, nonstop. This explains why the two sushi chefs both made our food with expressions that suggested suicide watch. The owner was probably standing behind a double-sided mirror wearing a sombrero and a kimono with a gun leveled at their backs.

The menu was clearly created by a spoiled, egocentric, maniac. It's full of hilarious explanations of why plain, raw fish was destined to be paired with a palate-destroying glass of straight booze. There is a history of salsa, and, at times, triple exclamation points to assure you, hapless diner, that you are part of something amazing. But being amazed and favorably impressed are different things. I was amazed when I watched my friend eat a ball of tin foil, for example.

They have over 50 way overpriced tequilas for you to choose from to wipe out any bothersome sushi taste you have experienced while eating their sushi. Which is good, because their fish isn't fresh and the tequila might help kill some parasites in their early stages.

We got the sashimi flight which sucked balls. Nothing was fresh, and the magoro was downright spoiled. There were little sauce pairings that helped mask the stink. I will say this, however, their presentations were quite beautiful.

I'm all for places that make you feel as though you've been whisked away from Boston for a mini vacation, even if it is just for the evening.  It all starts when you first walk into the lobby of the InterContinental.  Any hotel will make me feel like I'm on vacation, but this one does it better than most.  There is nothing Boston about it and for once, I really loved that.  Sit outside at Sushi-Teq and you could be in South Beach, with lounge chairs, umbrellas, an outdoor bar, and all white furniture.  Ambience gets a million trillion stars.  I love it.

My friend and I came for dinner, but we really should have just come for drinks.  The food was fine: awesome crab cakes with lots of real crab, huge grilled shrimp covered in a mango sauce that was a touch too sweet, and good sushi (not the best, but definitely good--good enough to make my friend like eel for the first time!).  The biggest problem?  The tables are so small!  We were seated at a high top and the table was teeny tiny!  Plus it was lazy Susan style and kept spinning around.  Speaking of spinning, our chairs spun too.  So much spinning, with nothing to hold on to!  Combined with the itty bitty seat, barely an inch-high back, and no foot rest, I think I slid off of my chair about 4 times.  Clearly these tables are meant for the simple acts of drinking and people watching--now I know.

Another thing I wish I knew first?  Last call for food outside is around 9:30.  In an attempt to keep things quiet and peaceful for the hotel guests, the outdoor area shuts down early.  Not a problem, though.  Just head inside and hang out at Rumba.

My first time at Sushi-Teq was a learning experience and I will definitely be back for more.  The service was great, there are plenty of options on the menu, and I'm sure I'll need another vacation soon enough.

I wasn't sure what to expect before coming to Sushi-Teq. Sushi, tequila, salsa music, tiny restaurant, funky atmosphere? Sounds like the combination had the potential to be a huge freaking mess. Not so, however! It works. It works really well! We need more funky places like this in Boston.

The sushi here was honestly some of the best I've had in Boston. For real. My dining companion and I went all out and got a wide variety of sushi, including the Una Avo roll, spicy tuna roll, and very simple cucumber roll, cucumber and avocado, and tuna roll. I was most impressed with the una avo roll. I normally don't like "warm" sushi, but this was awesome. The eel sauce was fantastic, the avocado was perfectly ripe, and the eel/avocado ratio was perfect.

I've decided I much prefer spicy tuna rolls when all the ingredients are mixed together, as they are here. There was a generous serving of tempura flakes inside the roll, which added a yummy crunch and funky texture.

And what's with the extreme use of mozzarella on the menu? I've never had mozzarella on sushi... never even thought of it. Wayne, the manager, explained that it's a great compliment to the smoky flavor created when salmon is torched over a roll. We gave the Atlantic Roll a try, which was great, although I think I personally would prefer no mozzarella and more torched, smoky salmon. The cheese didn't provide much taste... more of a smooth, creaminess to the piece of sushi.

The drinks were tasty, although I will request that it be served on the rocks next time.

Overall, a great experience with attentive waitstaff and manager. Food was great, atmosphere was fun... I just wish it was a little more accessible and a little larger! I'll be back :)

It was a rainy, windy brisk autumn evening as we walk into the Intercontinental Hotel after sitting through one of the scariest movie of the season (but yours truly wasn't that scare.. kinda sorta).  We needed a change of scenery, something light and fun and yes, maybe even flirty.

Into Sushi Teq we go where we were presented with a table by the window and one of the most attentive waiter/bartender around who suggested the Jalapeño margaritas (with fresh slices of spicy jalapeño and sweet agave nectar- I'm sooo yours) while my date went for a Fumasa margarita (with smoked paprika? Ohh I get it, fumar=smoke).  Our drinks came and it was just what I needed to calm my nerves, awhh... spicy strong margaritas, gone was the weakling little damsel and in it's place was a rambunctious coy vixen.

We decided to order a few plates of food since we can't very well be intoxicated AND petrified after the movie.  So we got the tuna tataki, yellowtail ceviche (I LOVEEEE yellowtail) and The Atlantic (torched salmon with mozzarella on top - weird, you would think but it was really nice and smooth).

Fish were excellent and fresh; drinks were superb and service with a smile, who could ask for more.  Oh, the music: one of the best part was the music!  From latin pop, to salsa to bachata... I would feel so inclined to break into a full-blown spin and a dip!

Sushi + Tequila + Salsa music + a crazy light up wall - say what?
Surprisingly, it all works together very well.  My sister is in town on business and staying at the Intercontinental - we were starving last night so decided to check out sushi check before heading over to the Paradise for the yelp event.

Let me say, before I go any further, that Sushi-Teq gets five stars for the incredible service - I wish I had gotten our server's name - she was awesome - very friendly, conversational, and very considerate of the fact that I was vegan - she actually asked the chef, unprompted, to use a different knife and mat for my food - one that hadn't been touched by fish - the courtesy was just lovely.

I had a shiso and cucumber roll along with an avocado roll - both very fresh. Sis had an avo-cucumber roll and then tried out the sushi Teq specialty roll - spicy cooked salmon with avocado, sweet potato, and a host of other lovely toppings. The roll was HUGE and aesthetically very beautiful. She said the salmon was a bit on the spicy side but was tempered by the other ingredients in the roll.

The menu is small and limited, food wise, but the staff are very accomodating. Can't speak for the tequilas, but I perused the selections, and they've got a big selection of top shelf items (I think there may be more tequila than food).

It's good for what it is - quick, surprisingly inexpensive, in a very modern-upscale, contemporary setting. If you've got a guest in town I highly recommend Sushi-Teq for a quick set of appetizers and drinks, early evening.

AMAZING!! Sadly, for a city near the water, Boston has surprisingly few good sushi places. Thank the ocean god's for Sushi-teq. This was some of the freshest and best sushi I've ever had. I went with a friend and got the Tuna Mozzarella, the Sushiteq, the 510, the Atlantic and the Rainbow roll. I wish we had ordered more..much much more. Everything was fantastic. It's hard to pick a favorite but I'd have to go with the 510, if only for the concept.

And the drinks?? TO DIE FOR. I still dream of the Blackberry Mango. It was so beautifully presented. The Blood Orange Strawberry was pretty fan-freakin-tastic too.

The only suggestion I'd have is to calm down on the lighting - it's kind of cool at first but after a while it's a little distracting. It's on the smaller side too so I wouldn't suggest coming here with a large group. BUT if you want to treat your taste buds to some sushi heaven this is the place to go.

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!

I am a sushi obsessed Puertorican so the idea of Latin infused sushi grabbed my attention. However, Sushi-Teq is not sushi. It's something else, something that transcends any sushi experience I've ever had. They fuse Latin flavors with the best quality sushi in Boston. It was ORGASMIC!

The place is small and intimate. I sat across my date (perfect spot for first dates) with the Boston Harbor behind me and an amazing color changing electric wall in front of me. The music is all Latin--salsa beats I haven't heard in ages! I think the date got a bit annoyed when I couldn't stop singing or when I offered the tipsy broad next to me a dance on the floor. I love older women.

But yea, Sushi-Teq is hot. 5 star service (they have 6 stars now don't they?). 6 star service! Oh and the drinks... Delicious! My buddy Wayne Duprey (the man) had me try their fruity-smoothie tequila shot trio. They went down a lot smoother than the Jose Cuervo shots from the night before.

Sushi-teq is a small restaurant in the back corner of the Intercontinental Hotel. One of two restaurants in the hotel, it is much smaller and less pretentious than the French restaurant, Miel, and is much more reasonably priced. Its much more intimate than Rumba, a cool, lively bar across the lobby.  However, Rumba is a great place for an after dinner cocktail or latte and on the night we were there (Thursday night) it got fairly hoppin'.

Back to Sushi-Teq - its an interesting mix of sushi with a Tequila bar.  Their sushi is good, but their margaritas are excellent, although a little different every time.  The menu is pretty limited and the choices not really unique.  The fish is fresh and well prepared, though, so even if its not that unique, its good sushi.  There's not really any 'fusion' food on the menu.  But it does mix two of my favirite things - margaritas and sushi.

Its cool, modern, and bright and looks out across the beautiful outdoor patio behind the hotel.  You can take your drinks out after dinner and hang out there. On a nice evening, its beautiful.  The tables in the restaurant are small and if you are at a window table, the bench under the window makes you feel like a 5 year old, because your feet dangle with no rail to rest them on.  A little weird.  But this is a good place to meet, have a cocktail and a light dinner before going out OR for a late night wind down snack since its open until 2 am.

Was here for the first time last night with my special someone and this place is amazing.  Of course the hotel is great but who would have ever thought sushi and tequila go hand-in-hand!  This place is hip, exotic, and full of class.  It really reminds me of a hotel that I stayed in South Beach Miami.  They have a long list of favors of tequila and martini's.  Its so great to have options.

The sushi was very FRESH and so pretty that it was hard to dig in.  The upbeat music and atmosphere defiantly gave this place a positive vibe.  A nice walk along the pier on a clear and crisp night toped the whole night. =)

    please enjoy!

I think that if I wasn't so cheap, I'd like this place a lot more.

As it is, I AM that cheap, and I was only halfway satisfied with my recent visit to Sushi-Teq.  I was inspired to give Sushi-Teq a shot after hearing that they had half-price sushi and $3 margarita samplers every evening between 5-7.  My friend and I arrived around 5:45 and were the only people in the place for the first half hour of our dinner.  It's a small restaurant so it didn't really matter, but it was still a little awkward.

We each started with a margarita "sampler" which was really just a glorified mixed shot (literally, one shot's worth, served in a shot glass).  Our waiter suggested that we try a "flight" which includes three shots and is served in a fancy stand, and looked at us strangely when we said we'd rather start with just one (if I'm going to order something with paprika in it, I want to taste it before I order more!).

Only the basic sushi was half-priced, which meant we could get cucumber and avocado rolls (6 pieces) for $3, but none of the more interesting rolls were discounted.  The sushi was fine and fresh, but I had hoped for more of a deal.  The service really went downhill when other people arrived, especially when we ordered more drinks.

Overall, we had five rolls and three shots each for $35 before tip, which was fine for downtown Boston but we could have done a lot better just heading over to Chinatown.  I'll check it out again in the summer to see if the outdoor vista makes it more exciting.

We decided to give this place a try since it was in our hotel (Intercontinental Boston).  Prices aren't bad and the ambience was cool with the lights and everything...but the tables are TOO SMALL!  Yeah, I guess it's cool if you're on a date or something with small ass tables, but if you got some hungry asses wanting a whole lotta sushi, you'd be more concerned about accidentally knocking your drink or a plate off the table instead of enjoying the food.

The service wasn't that bad and the sushi was pretty good.  A little pricey but I guess you can expect that from a sushi joint in a nice hotel.  It's a little weird with the sushi and tequila combo but it's a cool concept.  The jalapeno margarita didn't have as much "spice" as the waitress had described.  Oh and they sell their sushi PER PIECE and not in a normal pair that nigiri's usually come in.

1 Jalapeno Margarita, 1 Mojito, 510 roll, SpicyTuna Roll, 3 hamachi, 1 toro, 1 local white fish = ~$86 ...I'd probably go back if I was staying at the Intercontinental and no other japanese places were open.

Hit Sushi-Teq twice while staying at hotel for a conference - once take out, once dine in.
The menu is quite limited for a Japanese restaurant, and it seemed at dinner we didn't even see the whole menu, because other tables had edamame and miso soup and I never saw this on the menu, nor did I see the typical sushi dinners that would at least include the soup. Maybe pages were missing from our menu?
The sushi, however, was adequate, as were the special rolls, altho my fellow dinner ordered something with cooked spicy salmon that was very fishy tasting. At night, the lighting is kind of distracting - I like a Zen-type atmosphere when dining Japanese and that was not it!
Clean, bright during the day, and convenient location but nothing I'd go out of the way for.

It just so happens that the wonderful woman I'm currently dating happens to be a salsa dancer who loves sushi and tequila.

I mean, seriously...what are the odds that I'd find a place that only does those three things?  Wow.  Talk about a billion bonus points in the dating department...

Saw from the website that they seat...oh about 15 people.  Figured maybe I should call for a reservation.  Um, nope...no reservations allowed.   However, the guy said I _could_ call back an hour before I arrived to put my name on the "list" in the event that there was a crowd.  So, it's kind of like a reservation...only last minute.  Whatever.

Before I picked my date up, I call to put my name on that extra special list.  And when we get there.....there are 4 other people in the restaurant.  It's literally a little corner of the Intercontinental Boston.  Pulsating glowing wall lights a la Stix and that lighting shop on Boylston Street.  Definitely interesting.

Service was great.  VERY attentive.  VERY eager to help you choose or make recommendations.  Naturally, the first thing we turn to in the menu is the tequila list - obviously, the most important part of the meal.  It's a huge list.  Luckily, if you're a noob to the wonderful world of tequila, they give you a general "flavor" next to each tequila so you have an idea of what you're getting yourself into.  Nice touch.

They offer a few different flights for sampling, but I wasn't too fond of the choices.  The waitstaff was really helpful and allowed me to make my own custom flight, which was really appreciated.

Sushi was good.  Some very unique selections that I haven't seen anywhere else.  Presentation was excellent.  We finished off with another glass of tequila and headed outside to walk along the pier.

Even if I wasn't dating my sushi-loving, tequila-swigging, booty-shaking salsa dancer, I would still come back.  Eclectic mix of tequila and sushi, but it works.

My one suggestion?  If you can drink tequila straight, do it.  You'll find that it actually complements the flavors of the sushi better than the fruity mixed drinks may.

    Recommended.

The three stars are mainly for the view.  Their patio is right on the harbor and quite spacious and relaxing.  The sushi was mediocre, although the only item I tried was the spicy yellowtail.  Our waitress was sweet and apologetic for the long wait for our food.  Reading the other reviews, waiting for your food seems to be the standard here.  I also had a margarita, which was also mediocre.

We came for the free tequila tasting, which was nice for them to offer.  They also had some hot salsa dancers as entertainment.  I would only recommend this place during the summer for the view.  There's really no other reason to seek this place out.

OK. What is up with the changing lights? Some of you may find that unique or interesting, but I was so distracted, I couldn't even enjoy my meal. Well, it could just be the ADD in me....but anyways..........
Food is average. I mean it was good but it didn't blow me away. We ordered the Pizza de Sushi-Teq as an appetizer. It is basically a flour tortilla covered in tomatoes, fresh salmon, and some other things. The sauce was delicious but you'd get bites where it was just tortilla and it ruined the whole taste experience....Then again I guess it is a pizza and it has to have a crust...But...then again, I don't think pizza and raw fish were never supposed to come together in holy matrimony....It just doesn't make sense. We also ordered a couple simple rolls. They were good, but just average. What really made me a fan was the tequila menu. It was huge! I'm not a tequila connoisseur by any means, but I do like tequila. I ordered a glass of the Oro Azul Anejo and it was delicious!!!
While the food may be just a 3.5, the very extensive tequila list tips them up to a four.

Sushi and Tequila may not be the the most obvious pairing, but that's what makes this place fascinating. After all, plenty of bars in this city are devoted to rum, vodka, and wine- so why not let Tequila (besides that chick on MTV) have it's fun?

The sushi here is amazingly fresh! The rice was slightly warm and the veggies/ fish incredibly fresh and cool. The Atlantic roll (a recommend from Bars Manager of the Intercontinental) incorporated tequila in the soy sauce which brought out a delicious smokey flavor of the torched fish complimented by rich smooth mozarella. Even though these guys are dammed good at getting creative with the rolls-- sticking to the traditional menu proves even more tasty, fresh and just plain good! This is now one of my top picks for sushi in the city. I may have complications from Mercury poisoning in just a few weeks...

I would pass on the frozen Margarita next time and go for an aged tequila on the rocks. Even though the drinks were creative and even lovely to look at- they were not the highlight of the night.

The place is tiny, so get there early, but overall quite delicious sushi and well informed/ accommodating staff!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place... but only in the warmer months... I would have given them 5 stars except that the inside of the place is really small so I will only go if I can sit outside.  The tables outside are so awesome and the view is fantastic.

Now, for the food.  This is where I found out that I love sushi.  Every single item I have tried, I love.  The margaritas are great as well.  The house margarita is delish but they have so many also varieties it is tough to choose a favorite.

I can't wait til Spring to head back there!

Good sushi, bad service and setup.

The sushi here was tasty, especially the Big Dig and the margaritas were good except it isn't clear from the menu which are frozen and which are on the rocks, this would have heavily influenced my decision.

The service was terrible. The staff in this tiny restaurant consisted of 3 "servers" and 2 sushi chefs. It wasn't clear who our server was. I think one was supposed to be the host, one the bartender and one the server but everyone was coming over to our table, delivering drinks, clearing plate and taking orders. When they did come non of the 3 asked us if we needed anything else. We had to ask someone to take our order, and give us new drinks when they were clearing our plates. Not good. I understand the challenges in opening a new restaurant and waited several months to be sure that kinks were worked out. They're not.

The tables are very small, too tight to fit 2 plates, 2 soy sauce bowls and two drinks comfortably. I wanted to order water but couldn't because there was no room.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend it. Head to Douzo if you want amazing sushi, trendy atmosphere and great drinks. This place just doesn't cut it.

If I were staying at the InterContinental from out of town I'd be stoked that there is a Sushi place right in the hotel.
    Although not bad, not great.
Here's why: the rolls are small and leave a lot to be desired. My friend and I went just because we saw it from another hotel bar, it was after dinner, we had 2 rolls, and just weren't satisfied.
To sum it all up all I can really say is, ehh.

As a local, I usually stay away from hotel restaurants.  But I love the Spa at the Hotel InterContinental so I can kill two birds with one stone by going to Sushi-Teq before or after my massage.  I like the creative twist that it's a sushi/tequila lounge.

For a hotel restaurant, it offers suprisingly tasty and fresh sushi.  The rolls combine unique ingredients, but aren't too funky and taste delicious.  The price points are really good, you can get a fair amount of food without having to take out a loan like some upscale sushi places.

The waterfront view is a bonus, and the overal vibe is quite modern with cool mood lighting that changes throughout your meal.  Reminds me of a very NYC vibe, but without the huge crowd & music so loud, you can't hear yourself think.

I stopped by this place for a quick and early dinner with a friend.  At first the trendy and modern decor strikes as cold and sterile with lots of brushed aluminum and glass but the salsa music in the background makes it a bit warmer after a while (or may be it was my margarita?).  There's a nice view of the outdoor patio and the Fort Point channel.

The service was quick, efficient and friendly.  The sushi rolls were on the small side but tasty and reasonably priced.  A highlight of the dinner was my $6 margarita - it was quite good and went surprisingly well with the sushi.  Overall, good bang for the buck.  I'll definitely come back.

Interesting margaritas (I had one with paprika in it! pretty cool). WICKED small tables. seriously not enough room for drinks and food. WTF? I mean, ok, you gotta be trendy and all since you are in a fancy pants downtown hotel, but let's get some tables you can actually eat at, mmkay?
So the food - appetizer of yellowtail ceviche was amazing. The three rolls we ordered after, including the house special "margherita" roll were good, not great.
We had a nice reposado tequila flight with three tasty tequilas.

Interesting concept, i'll give them that, but i think they should step it up in the flavor category for the sushi. and get bigger tables.

Ultra hip and fresh. Even the easy things like california rolls and house margaritas were special and amazing!

You'd think that those two would be a weird combo but it actually seemed to be exactly what I wanted. The salty and sweet play off each other and allow you to taste all kinds of flavor.

The decor takes a minute to get used to with its constantly changing light walls, but it quickly fades into the background as you watch the salsa dancing on the tv. Very fun!

$12 drinks usually lose a star for me, but they're worth it.

Sushi-Teq's sushi was seriously good, though it seemed a bit expensive for what it was. It was my first time having cerviche and the yellowtail was sooo good. The rolls were HUGE. Maybe a little too big (especially considering I was on a date), but they were mostly so big because they had giant pieces of salmon, etc. on top. Sushi-Teq doesn't skimp on the fish. My fave roll was definitely the 510, which is white fish with juice of yuzu, cilantro (which I'm not normally a big fan of!),  and ikura, on top of avocado, cucumber, tobiko, and asparagus, w/ jalepeno, tosa soy, and shiso. YUM...so flavorful.

This place is A LOT smaller than I expected. We easily got a table, arriving about 8:45 p.m. on a Thursday night, but were told it was a 2 hour wait for outdoor seating (they only have 6 tables out there?!). The place is cute, but the tables are tinyyy. Basically you had to eat one thing at a time because they couldn't fit everything on the table. I hate that and would rather have all the sushi served together.

The Blueberry Lychee Margarita was really good but tasted much more like blueberries than lychee (I love blueberries though). It felt a little odd drinking a margarita with sushi, but it worked!

We wanted to do it right, so we got a couple tequila flights, which was a lot of fun. However, the waitress didn't really give us much assistance and though the menu specified the samplers come with limes, salt,  sangrita, cinnamon, and orange slices, ours didn't come with anything and when we questioned it, she got us a plate of limes and salt. OK. We had a lot of fun trying the tequilas and reading about what they were SUPPOSED to taste like (vanilla ice cream??). Of course there's always the potential of getting wasted when sampling tequilas so be careful...especially if you're on a date!!

They have a big TV, which was showing salsa dancing with Japanese subtitles when we were there. Try to sit outside; it's a realllyyy pretty atmosphere. But FYI, they stop serving alcohol out there at 10:00, which is kind of strange.

I just think Sushi-Teq is a really cool concept and something that you should try, for the fun-ness factor alone. Not to mention the sushi is delicious.

Def NOT the best Sushi. The 510 was nothing special.

Cool hip place and liked the changing colors on the wall.

Tangerine Mojito I had was ok-too sweet.

Liked that you could walk around outside.

Would go for a drink but would not go get Sushi there again.

Scheduled to have drinks with friends at the Intercontinental, my friend and I decided to grab some food before hand.  Upon seeing some rave reviews, we settled on Sushi-Teq - as I'd been craving for some raw sea dwellers.

Sushi-Teq is a small Chinese take-out box of colored lighting, salsa tunes, and high top tables.  Rather than waiting for a seat, we nestled up happily to the bar.  The menu was not extensive, but inventive specialty rolls accompanied your standard maki and a la carte sushi and sashimi.  We ordered a few rolls to split as well as an order of edamame.

The specialty rolls we ordered were the 510 roll and the Sushiteq - both creative and visually dazzling (the 510 came with an avacado wrapper).  Though neither really blew me away from a flavor stand point, both were still quite tasty.  We also got orders of spicy yellow tail and spicy tuna.  Normally I'm partial to the the former white fish, but I must say the spicy tuna was one of the best I have had.  The flavor and freshness of the tuna was top notch, and in retrospect I wish I had gone for some sashimi.

The reason Sushi-Teq gets 5 stars from me though is the Jalapeño Margarita.  I must've said a million times that this could be the greatest drink I've ever had.  Admittedly, I'm a craft beer nut, so I don't often look up fancy shmancy cocktails.  But this was such a balanced drink, offsetting the sour and snappy margarita syrup with muddled limes, and leaving you with a little spicy bite on your lips.  If your night's plan is solely for imbibing, I'd highly recommend stopping in to make this your first drink before continuing on at nearby Rumba.

Price is a little on the higher side, especially the cocktail ($14).  But I left feeling that I had gotten my money's worth in quality, service, inventiveness, and just overall experience.

    Well played, Sushi-Teq, well played.

I went here on a date and it was really awesome. I mean come on tequila and sushi what could be better! What's also really great is the accommodating staff. There is practically a waitress for each table but they don't hover. Our waitress did a good job of explaining how the menu/order system worked which was a tad confusing at first. She also brought us a complimentary taste of another margarita. Delicious! But the single thing I liked most about our waitress was she made sure to ask if I wanted my sushi with a decorative fish egg because she reminded they might get stuck in my teeth. Only when I tell the story it sounds a little cheesy and weird.

Anyway, I gave it an A.

To be fair, this is just a review for the bar - I didn't eat. The service is the worst. It's one of those places where everyone is sitting around with empty drinks, craning necks, looking for a MIA server. The drinks are gross. I had the house margarita, it was all sickly sweet sour mix. I couldn't finish it. Not what you would expect from a place with TEQuila in the name.

Forget it, unless you really need outdoor seating.

Our office is just across the way from the InterContinental, so we strolled over there the other day after work. There were five of us. We found the happy hour menu a little confusing because it said half price, but you had to get six pieces, and we couldn't tell if the prices were for individual bites, or for a whole plate... By the time we were done, we were too jolly to bother to figure it out. The bill was $134 + tip, which I think was quite reasonable considering everything we ordered.

Two of us did our own tequila flights - a selection of three tequila mixes. One of mine had paprika, and was really lovely. The others were a little more fruity, but I didn't waste a drop. Their tequila selection is quite extensive with pages of offerings - you can pay more than $100 for a glass for certain varieties. The sushi was quite good, and so was the miso. We ordered a whole bunch of items off the menu and shared. Everyone was delighted.

The decor was cool - the walls change color. The view of the water is also a plus.

The concept is simple, and so awesome. Why haven't more people thought of combining these Mexican and  Japanese traditions?

We were all pleased by the experience when we left. I definitely recommend this place to others as worth checking out. If I were staying in town longer for work, I definitely would have gone back. I certainly will next time I'm in town.

i've been here many times since my discovery about a year ago.
The first time was for food and drinks and later, just for drinks.

The place is pretty amazing, but small - perfect to get drinks with your gfs and just chat. The drinks are amazing, we almost always go for pitchers. One of my favorites is the one with blueberry, and another with mango.

Personally, I dont think the sushi is very outstanding, so I'm taking off a star, since it is a restaurant. But other than that, I highly recommend people to come here for a drink!

Interesting spot and not what I pictured.  I would suggest reservations as it is small, very neat, and sterile-like.  Service a little spotty even though we were the first ones there ....maybe second.  Took awhile for drinks but hey out they came.  Mine was an original Hornitos 'rita with real fresh squeezed lime juice. The 'rita was exceptional and very tart with little or no use of simple syrup which I like and a little stronger pour of cointreau.

To the sushi.  We asked our server to see if the chef would prepare a variety of selections he preferred or recommended and a sampling of items that were not the maki ordinary.  Ok....well I think I will pass on mackeral belly in the future.  Whooa.  Fishy!  Some may like this and it was beautifully prepared but I had the flavor of this in my stomach all night. Other offerings were exceptional with a very delicate presentation of many different types of salmon, toro, yellowfin tuna, scallop, fluke and more.  I liked it all and we added the very spicy maki roll, big dig roll and their most ordered - sushi pizza.  The rolls were great and a reasonable ok to the pizza which ws really a tortilla shell (cold), with greens and salmon on top with olives.  Again, struggled a little bit with it as it wasnt' what I expected and thus I was dissapointed. Certainly, don't base your ordering on my mackeral dislike and the pizza.  Service got better as the night went along as both hostess and server all helped with the four of us.  Out comes a wonderufl tequilla shot in a brandy glass at room temperature.  Not yet an afficianado of room temp tequilla so I added some ice and nailed it.

Many samples...3 to 4 drinks each and the bill as a touch over $200 before tip.  Outdoor dining available and that would really be enjoyable weather permitting.   Good valet parking right out front and I like the entire first level of the Intercontinental.

I was so excited 2 weeks ago when I was going to a b-day party at Rumba and realized that Sushi-teq was right there. I had been dying to try it. I conviced my friend to down her mai tai and head over for a quick tequila drink with me.

I was shocked to see how tiny the space was (didn't they at one point offer salsa lessons???? Unless people are dancing on tables, there is no room for that.) However, it had that oh-so-trendy feel, so of course I continued in. I sat at the bar and noticed only a few people in the place (but wait...its so small that only a few people WILL FIT in the place), anyways, as me and friend looked at the drink menu the smell of sushi was so great that we decided to get a roll while we sipped on a drink.

Our server came over and took our drink order. My original order was something with raspberries I think, he came back to say he was all out of the ingredients. I then ordered the mango del sol. About 5 minutes later the server came back, at this point we had decided on a spicey tuna roll, which we ordered....but wait, no drinks. I get it, they are "special cocktails"...they take a few minutes to make.

So we wait....and wait....and wait...and finally our roll comes out...but wait, still no drinks. I'm not one to get annoyed by slow service, I worked in the industry for years...but this was insane. Literally 10-15 minutes waiting for a drink. Which would have been no big deal, but there was seriously 4 other people in this place.

Ok...now for the sushi. I'm a bit of a sushi snob...I could live off the stuff. The presentation was ok. The roll actually looked a little messy...like I could have made it on my own. Then when I went to pick up a piece the whole thing crumbled. I lost half the roll to the counter...how annoying. Lets try this again...the second piece was more successful, but not all that good. It was pretty spicey (which I like) but mind you...I HAD NO DRINK to cool my mouth with. I had to ask for a water. About 5 minutes after that our drinks finally come. For all that wait the drink was only OK....seems to be a theme with this place.

Sense we got our drinks we figured lets get 1 more roll...we got one of the specialty rolls...it was so unmemorable that I couldn't even tell you whats in it!

The only perk was the sushi chef did give us a sample of something, which was very nice.

When the bill came I was annoyed to be paying $48 for 2 rolls and 2 drinks...all of which were just OK. Oh and then to tip on terrible service was even more annoying.

So in short...if you want just OK sushi and just OK drinks...check it out. But I wish I had just stayed at Rumba...

Tequila Tuesday...not so cool. They stuck us outside the restaurant, which meant no appetizers offered, no water, no restaurant anything. The tequila came without training wheels (no lime or salt) which is fine since it was suppose to be tequila tasting not tequila shooting, but hard for me to swallow.

The best thing about the place was chatting with the Mix 98.5 radio people.

I can't comment about the food yet, since they didn't bring us menu's but $14 rolls didnt entice me to come in for dinner either.
