first place i ate out when i moved to brooklyn-
the sushi is good although not exceptional, the thai food is pretty decent. I like that you can choose between having thai or japanese based cuisines and that they have outdoorish seating when it's nice out. the staff is there, but that's about it.
they do have a GREAT lunch special at a very good price- def try that out!

REVIEW OF THAI TIME

I believe this place also houses Thai Time, which served me the grossest Thai food I've had in New York.  NEVER order from here.  I guess it was my fault for ordering from a Thai restaurant housed inside a Japanese restaurant.  I should've expected the greasy generic Asian mess I got, that could've been found at any cruddy corner Chinese joint in Crown Heights.  YUCK.  My pad kee mao was so oily and bland.  Perhaps these people can do Japanese food, but they can't do Thai.  It's a shame because the area lacks a good Thai joint.

I ordered from the menu and had pad thai delivered the first time I had food from Thai time. The coconut soup is my favorite. The delivery came within 40 min and was hot. The prices are reasonable. The second time I went to the restaurant location. Its a simple place. Service was Okay, but it was a Sunday night and the restaurant was pretty empty. I don't know how it would be on a busy night. I would order/eat at this location again, esp. since its in the neighborhood. Nothing particularly phenomenal...

THAI TIME

We just ordered from Thai Time and we got burnt chicken satay and cold pad thai after a 55 minute wait. I called to tell them and was advised that "it's cold out and it's busy on a Saturday".

If a 5 year old can discern "isn't this supposed to be hot?", then it's not unreasonable to expect the management to get that point too.

Early autumn..... the weather is perfect in Brooklyn from dawn til dusk, and the sunsets are lusciously orange (shh. I don't care if it's from pollution), the three stars actually make an appearance in the skies above...... and I lounge on my terrace with a few friends.

We all toss in $10-15 and order entirely too much sushi from Sushi Tatsu, and set up a makeshift picnic on my terrace. Blankets, pillows, wine, sushi, and Toblerone chocolates for dessert. We refrigerated part of sushi selection, and pulled it out over the course of our four hour picnic. If only I could do this once a week...

Now that I've lured you into my review with high hopes of becoming my friend, just so you can camp out on my terrace and drink wine like there's no work week ahead of you......

.....the sushi is good, not grande. It's affordable though, and comes from an actual restaurant (scarce in these here woods). In fact, one of the only food variations I know of in my neighborhood aside from the fried chicken and pizza.....

I'm a sucker for tuna.

Had to stay in and do some work, so I got delivery. And surprise, surprise! I only got tuna. A Tekka Don (12 slabs of tuna over a bed of rice - yes I said TWELVE!!!), comes with a Miso soup, and I also got a tuna handroll.

It was amazing. The tuna wasn't like the most heavenly melt in your mouth tuna I've ever had, but it was pretty decent for the price, which was your typical $14 entree, $3 hand roll, tip the delivery guy. Really fresh. And there was just SO much which is great. Even the handroll was overflowing with tuna slices. And not skinny tuna slices, but real thick ones.

So tasty! I'd totally order from them again if I have another all nighter.

I'll admit it, i read the other reviews. And it pains me to say that most are right on. Sushi tasu II is a hit or miss type of joint. I am in love with their godzilla rolls, but you really should not have that delivered. The tuna is either great, mediocre or will make you sick...eat lots, LOTS of ginger.

But for most of us, they are the only sushi game in town that delivers. That said, I've tried a lot on the menu and my favorites are shrimp tempura roll, spicy salmon, spicy yellowtail, jalapeno yellow tail (not for the weak!), and the new vegetarian roll (with inari). Just tried the cooked salmon and avocado roll and it's pretty tasty. The chirashi is pretty fresh, because they can't get away with it not being.

Delivery is prompt, prices are reasonable. The restaurant is located in crown heights, but they deliver to bedford stuyvesant as well...and they're open until 11:00.

Decent sushi for the price. It's the only sushi place that will deliver to me, so I will most likely order from them the next time I'm really hungry. The delivery is super quick, which is definitely a plus. Just don't expect high quality fish, this is BedStuy after all.

The first Sushi Tatsu is on Flatbush Ave, similar prices, only about 50 cents higher. I came home one day and found one of their menus as well, so I guess they deliver out here too, which is a bit more surprising.

If you don't need the delivery aspect, visit Sushi Yama instead, it's just a bus/subway/car ride 15 mins away.

I didn't have terribly high hopes for this place when I first moved in, for whatever reason - figuring it was just the default because there probably wasn't much sushi around, or something.  I imagined it would be serviceable.  In reality, the sushi is very good, the prices are entirely reasonable, and delivery is almost comically speedy.  Shows what I know.

Oh, just don't get suckered into ordering the avocado and peanut butter roll out of curiosity, like I did. I'm not even sure it made it onto the new menu, actually.  To be fair, I didn't even expect it to be good when I ordered it.  And it wasn't.  So there you go.

I order from here because it's not very expensive, and my order always arrives unbelievably quickly.  So quickly that it sometimes makes me wonder...  They've got the delivery process down pat, that's for sure.

The sushi is at about the same level as grocery store takeout.  Every once in a while it's pretty good - more often, though, it skews towards the not so good.  Sometimes it seems really greasy, or oily, or something.  But I've never had a truly awful order, which is why I keep calling them when I'm the mood for some quick and easy sushi.  And when I don't have any cash, because they take cards with just a $10 minimum.

I ordered from this location for the first time last Friday. The delivery was quick and the deliveryman very friendly.  The food was delicious, so I ordered again last night and realized that the food quality is not consistent.  The California rolls that I ordered damn near made me sick.  There was way too much cucumber and the avocados didnt taste right.  I dont know if its a difference between the guy that is there on Friday and the dude on Monday.  Not sure if I want to try a third try.

Last night I ordered from Sushi Tatsu for the second time.  The first time the food was decent, but not exceptional.  The leftovers actually tasted better than when the meal was fresh, which is unusual for Japanese food.

The second try with this place was not a success.  I ordered the Shrimp Tempura Don and was up all night with a terrible stomachache.  I am throwing out the menu and never ordering from this place again.

The delivery is very speedy, in case you want your pain served up fast!

My roommate took me here for my birthday! This place just opened, and we are so thrilled it is here! We were almost overwhelmed by the huge menu Sushi Tatsu II has to offer! In addition to the regular menu, there is a "picture" menu!

We finally decided on Bento Boxes, in an attempt to try a lot of different things at once. It was almost too much food for us! We were amazed at how cheap the food was. It was also very good! The service was extremely fast and attentive. Our water and tea glasses were never empty!

The atmosphere is simple yet cute. There is a lot of seating -- it is a pretty big place! Upon entering, we were greeted by a "pond" of goldfish. We noticed and appreciated the care one of the staff was taking of the goldfish. I think it is a good sign of a restaurant that pays attention to detail and cared about all aspects of the experience.

They offer a delivery service for orders of $10 or more. I think I might definitely take advantage of that! They also seem to have a really nice (a.k.a. cheap and great value!) lunch special.

You can also substitute servings of brown rice for white rice, which is an option that I enjoy.

I just ordered take-out over the phone and the woman said it would be ready in 5 minutes. That's enough for me!

*Update*
Those 5 minutes turned into about 10 once I got there, but that still beats the time I ordered the Party Pak at White Castle. I have been a few times since and they're pretty dependable for fast Japanese take-out. Food's OK; but they get 4 stars for their smiles.

can't really speak to the subpar quality of the fish as some others have, because i'm vegetarian. so i look for **creative** options on sushi menus...i'm kinda done with cucumber rolls, THANKS!

got delivery, and as everyone said, it was quick.

i had the inari avacado roll and the sweet potato tempura roll...both were EXCELLENT.  my friend got the tofu/veg teriyaki, which was ok but kinda lame.

they had lot of other interesting sounding veg rolls, including a couple with peanut butter. WHAT? how can i NOT try that?

lunch special's a bargain, comes with miso soup or salad (the dressing is the delicious carrot ginger variety that makes you happy to be eating greens!)

they're open until 11:30 too, which is great.

i'll most decidely be ordering from here again!

I really want to like Sushi Tatsu II.  They have some decent bento box specials and sushi deals.  They have a nice fishtank.  They have that inviting deck out front with the nice flowers.  They are a few yards from my apartment.  And yet, I Just. Don't. Like. The. Food.

i got takeout. The guy could not find where I lived even though they'd flyered my building that day. So there was a lot of me walking around in the cold trying to find the guy. For the amount of walking I did I might as well just gotten take out and picked it up in person.

I got age tofu and chicken tempora
I'm typically a big age tofu fan. But I didn't really like this at all. Th sauce was wierd and not like sauce that typically acccompanies age tofu. Wierd enough that I'm not sure they gave me the right sauce.

The chicken tempora was interesting. I hadn't realized it existed? Maybe I've lead some super sheltered life but I didnt realize chicken was ever put in tempora batter. So I ordered it out of curiousity. It was interesting. I'd probably get it again.
It was like fried chicken
only it wasnt greasy in the same way that fried chicken typically is

I normally order from here... and usually ends up with arguing with the delivery man to come upstairs in my elevator building instead of me coming downstairs for 5 minutes over the intercom before I finally give up and go downstairs to get my order.  Aside for that... they are pretty good and the delivery is very fast.

I had dinner there the other day for the first time and it was great. It was nice eating outside on a summer night.  The table service is great!!  The menu is prefect... I love the picture aspects of it... makes you know exactly what you are eating.

All in all a nice little gem in BK...

I order delivery from Sushi Tatsu's Flatbush location all the time. It isn't the absolute best sushi you'll ever eat in your life, but it's really well done and reliable for the right price. Their yellowtail scallion rolls are always great.

I'm writing this tonight, though, because I realized Sushi Tatsu had a second location, about halfway between my apartment and the Flatbush location. So I decided to give them a shot. Won't be doing that again! The delivery took nearly an hour, the delivery guy snapped at me when I politely asked if he had a pen for me to sign the receipt, and the sushi was pretty meh. My edamame had clearly been sitting for so long that it wasn't hot, and many of the pods had brown spots.

I'll be sticking with the original location -- it may be a further trek for the delivery guy, but since he's always on time, always friendly, and always has tasty, fresh sushi in hand, I have no reason to do anything else.

Yum, yum!
I go here for the lunch special after yoga on Saturdays! Yes, they honor the lunch speical on the weekends as well. It cannot be beat. $6.50 gets you two rolls of very fresh sushi, hot miso soup and a regular salad with a ton of carrot ginger dressing. Everyone's nice, everything's clean, everything's tasty!

I've ordered delievery from them on a couple stormy evenings and they are on point. If the hostess tells me 10 minutes, it comes in 9.
I'm so happy to have a good sushi restaurant around. Gen or Goen or whatever that place is on Washington & St. Marks always gave me bad vibes, so I'd always trek to Park Slope.
And I must say, I like to see Black folks eating sushi. A healthier alternative from the regular Crown Fried Chicken joints on the corners.

WoW! This place totally blew my expectations out of the water.  I had tried delivery from Gen previously and it was terrible, so I was pretty excited that another Japanese place opened up in my delivery area.  Got delivery twice in the same week, the first experience was so yelpgasmic.  Prompt delivery, and very pleasant lady that answers the phone. Sushi rolls were so fresh, the seaweed still had some crunch.  Here's what we tried:

Dynamite, spicy crunchy tuna, boston, salmon skin, salmon cucumber, spicy crunchy scallop. regular rolls priced from $3.50 - 4.00.  specialty rolls ranging from $7-12. these rolls were the highlight of both meals!
Tempura udon: tempura perfectly battered, not too greasy, although could've been fried more as the veggies were slightly undercooked.  probably won't bother getting the udon again. $7.50
Fried oysters:  definitely one of the more impressive oyster apps I've tried; the oysters were HUGE, and perfectly done.  awesome.

the lunch special is the best deal: bento box for $7, 2 rolls w/ soup and salad for $6.50, or 3 rolls for $9.50. also random entrees w/ soup and salad for $6-7.
mmmmmm....can't wait to order from here again!  Now if only they had ramen....

I have to agree that Sushi Tatsu II does have some kick-ass delivery , and good business hours  which is (oddly) rare for Brooklyn businesses. They are also a slightly less expensive alternative to Gen, but that comes with a price. Sushi Tatsu II has distinctly lower quality fish, that is not to say that it is bad, just slightly above supermarket sushi platters. Their menu is the standard cash-in-on-the-American-craze-for sushi type, and you'll find all the standbys on it .

Basically, if it's late  and you want your sushi pronto with no fuss, Tatsu II is your bag. If you want your mind blown, go somewhere else.

I love the Flatbush Ave. location whenever I'm at the boyfriend's house and was pleased to see their CROWN HEIGHTS (uh..c'mon people Franklin Ave. on the other side of Atlantic is not BedStuy) location delivers to Bed Stuy via friendly guy on moped. Quality of the fish is fine, it doesn't have a fishy taste nor smell and the rolls are reasonably priced.  A nice addition to our growing collection of greasy Chinese takeout menus and Castro's.

good lord do i love sushi tatsu. i havent ordered sushi take-out in the two years ive lived in new york until recently.  i guess i was reluctant because the idea of take-out sushi to me always brought to mind plastic sushi containers from wegman's (or wholefoods, whatevs).  however, a friend recommended sushi tatsu to me, and i have called at least once a week for the past month!  anyway, the lunch special is my favorite (choice of two rolls, miso soup, and salad for 6.50).  give them a try. they have extremely fast delivery, and are so good for such a cheap price.
