This place is a good, moderate sushi restaurant in Austin.  It is a good go-to restaurant for sushi when you're looking for quality without having to break the bank.  I enjoy knowing that when I come here, I am paying for the food, not the furniture or decorations.

The gyutataki (seared beef) appetizer here is one of the best I've tried, always fresh and beautifully presented.  The off-the-menu rolls, Spicy Susan and Spicy Carlos, are a must-order.  They've also got the usual selection of nigiri and sashimi as well as classic sushi rolls.

I enjoy that this restaurant is never TOO busy, so you don't end up having to wait an hour to be seated.  The environment is also very versatile, fitting almost any occasion and group size.  I've been here on a date, with a couple friends, for a birthday party, and in the reserved private room.  The private room can be reserved and requires a $250 minimum tab.  Each time I frequent Sushi Sake I have enjoyed my meal...without having to drop loads of cash!

I have been here once or twice in the past and it was a 3.5 star experience but after last night I doubt I will give it another shot.
The Dragon roll was a total drag...they overcooked the eel into black charredness. The Jazz roll could have used a bit more jazzing up as well.  The waiter must have been having an off night or just wasn't that into it...we came, were ready to drop loads of cash on fanciful sushi rolls but that dream was snuffed out by this lazybones.
Had to plead for refills on drinks...
The only saving grace of the evening, my dining companion had the good sense to order some crab puffs which were pretty darned delightful...but most deep fried appetizers are.

Sushi Sake is a good go to place for sushi, there's isn't anything spectacular about it nor is there anything terribly wrong with it.

The price is reasonable and correlates with the quality of food.  One of their off-the-menu items, the Spicy Susan, is a roll that I always get with a hand roll or two.  Pretty simple and straight forward.  I generally come here to satisfy a sushi craving that won't cost me an arm and a leg.

The only reason why I gave this place a 3/5 rating is that it strikes me as middle of the road.  There are places where I believe the quality of fish and innovation of food is much higher but then again the prices are much higher as well.  At the same time, there are lot worse places you can go thus making Sushi Sake a "good go to place for sushi."

Cheers

I met my Sis here for lunch today at 1PM - we were immediately seated and drink orders taken before I could even go wash my hands and food was delivered within 10 minutes of arriving. That was fast! as with my past experiences here the service has always been slow or maybe it was the late lunch hour today. Anyhow, our waitress was spot on - accommodating our lengthy private conversation while politely still checking in on us after we were done with our meal.

The miso soup we both ordered was as good as miso soup gets, my Smoked Salmon Sashimi and my Sis's Tuna Sashimi were both excellent fresh and yummy! My Sis had a glass of wine and we both had water the bill came to 52.00 with tip. Thankfully, my Sis said her hubby told her to pay for our lunch on his card because a 25.00 lunch is not in my budget. But, if it were it would be worth it here!

This is a good Korean-owned sushi here in Austin- I enjoyed the quality of their fish and they were priced relatively moderate. Kind service too. Apparently they are popular for their Spicy Scallop cut-roll, which we tried and it was quite tasty (although it wasn't that unusual visually). All in all, a decent place and we plan to visit again.

This was my go to place for sushi in Austin after college. Sure it isn't Uchi quality but I also don't have to wait 2 hours to get a table and don't have to sell my first born to afford it. Sushi Sake is quick and easy and affordable. The sushi quality is super premium but it is better than average and the sushi chefs at the bar are fun to talk to. The wait staff can be pretty hit or miss.

I used to come here alot because my gf (now fiancee) used to work there couple years back for half a year as a waitress.  First off this restaurant is owned by a family that also owns kaneyama in Houston.  The fish is always fresh, and the rolls are always inventive and tasty, especially the off the menu rolls.  The spicy susan seems to be a favorite by all as is the carlos roll.  I forget the ingredients so I'm not even going to try to list them.  I also enjoy the yokohana roll which consists of fresh tuna, salmon, yellowtail, with avocado and fish roe. Oh, also try the spicy scallop hand roll, they give you ample meat and its yummy every time i order it. The sushi is decently priced relative to other sushi places with fresh fish.  The owner is super nice as well as the staff.  I actually think it was this place that turned my brother into a sushi lover.  My brother is the type that doesn't like any seafood too.

You should definitely try this place out if you are sushi addict.

I (we, my family) love this place!

They have great food, decent prices, enjoyable waitstaff, and kid friendly!

We used to go here once a week, if not more, before I lost my job (damn economy). We still manage to go, only a little less often. :)

One of the things I love about this restaurant is the daily specials and items available that are not on the menu. Always check the daily specials board for yummy treats like escolar or toro/chu toro. They also have items not on the menu like; the Yaki Maki (California Roll topped with scallop, krab, and cheese, then baked), Spicy Carlos (Shrimp Tempura Roll topped with spicy tuna, maguro, tempura flakes, spicy sauce), Spicy Susan (Salmon Roll topped with spicy tuna, maguro, tempura flakes, spicy sauce). The spicy sauce on those rolls is to die for! YUMMY!

I have had nigiri sushi of escolar, maguro, hamachi, ebi, tako, unagi, sake (salmon) and all are good. Their salmon sashimi is very good.

Their miso is also a very good tasting soup. Their Bento boxes are very tasty and done well. I have had the teriyaki rib-eye and teriyaki chiken bentos, both very good.

Their green tea ice cream is the best I've had in Austin.

Check this place out. You won't be disappointed. :)

This is by far my favorite sushi place in the city of Austin.  I put a hurtin' on this place each and every time I go.

First off, you would be foolish to not start off your meal with at least one order of Crab Puffs.   The day I found these on the menu at the urging of a friend is the day I realized that there is this little piece of heaven in north Austin.   They are by far the best Ive had in all my days.   It is Krab not Crab, but that should be expected from Sushi restraunts.

Going on to the main course I usually, in typical american fashion, gorge myself on a litany of sushi and rolls.  The sushi is always good and of nice portions.  (no skinny fish cutting here)   The rolls are always really good.

Volcano Roll:   Get one.  While the title of the roll always reminds me of punishing the toilet the next morning, this one in fact wont do that to you.  Its spicy but not over the top "IM GOING TO DIE" spicy.

Spicy Susan:   She is a spicy one indeed.  Covered with a lovely sauce, this gigantic roll is one of my favorites.

They also have some of the other standard fare: spicy tuna/salmon, cali, rainbow, etc.

Overall, I love this place.   If there was any ding I could possibly give, it would be that the waiting area is a complete cluster if you get there during a peak time.   5-6 bar stools and enough shoulder checking to make my personal space get violated in all sorts of ways.  Also, I think they should invest in some slightly spicier wasabi.  Theirs is a little tame for my tastes.

I just came back from Sushi Sake, which I visited at a friend's recommendation. *sigh* It just wasn't my cup of tea. Another reviewer had it right when she said she always left wanting something more.

As someone else mentioned, there wasn't much of a crowd, but we were seated in the very back section. I was glad that they offered draft beers and weekend happy hour specials. I was pretty hungry, so I ordered a seaweed salad as an appetizer. Upon arrival, something smelled distinctly, well, foul. I was not sure whether the culprit was my salad or someone else at my table's appetizer, but regardless, I was pretty turned off by the stench of something past its expiration date. Stupidly, I did not mention it because I'm a sucker that didn't want to offend my friend who recommended the place.

As for the sushi: meh. I ordered some salmon and yellowtail sashimi. It was fine, not the best I've had but nothing that memorable either.  I also had some nigiri, and discovered that the rice wasn't sticky enough and fell apart after a quick dunk in soy sauce.

Even without the offensive odor, I wasn't at all impressed with Sushi Sake, and won't be back.

The employees are friendly and the sushi chefs definitely have a base of regulars that love them.  It was sorta slow the afternoon I went and although I wasn't showered with all the attention in the world (thank goodness), I wasn't ignored either.  A plus in my books.  The sushi is pretty good but I think it could have been a little bit fresher.  They had a decent selection but I don't recall anything sweeping me off my feet and making me want to do cartwheels or anything.

The ambiance is nice and comfortable and it looks as though it could lend itself to some intimate dining.

I used to live in Japan, and while Sushi Sake is not perfectly authentic, it is pretty close.

Friendly staff, resonable prices, and tasty fresh sushi!

The best part is the wonderful warm sake!   Happy Hour has great prices.

I don't know why we chose this place, but it was here that I tried sushi for the first time in 2006 before I went to study abroad in Japan. I wanted to ramp up before I went over seas to what I thought was a land abounding in sushi. I thought I would have fish coming out my ears. After eating here I was terrified about going to Japan. Luckily for me, there were other things to eat in Japan and I did get to experience some excellent sushi that kept me from signing it off forever.

After so many years I still remember the sushi was cut way too big and it wasn't the best quality. Gag reflex just from the size of it. I give 2 stars because it is "Meh. I've experienced better." It's certainly not the worst sushi place in Austin, and it's not going to make or break a date or anything like that.

I hope it has changed in the past few years although I would rather save my money for what I know is good sushi. Hard to change that reputation.

Carlos, oh, Carlos, where have you been all my life? I never knew there could be so much goodness wrapped in rice. All your crunchy yumminess is still on my mind this morning, a full 13 hours since we met.

Joanna, you were the fabulous one who brought you to me, I mean, us (there were others at the table who insisted on sharing my Carlos). We were a troublesome table at first, ordering one dish at a time, sending you to the kitchen over and over until we finally got our act together and ordered the spicy Carlos and some other stuff.  I don't even remember the other stuff. And Joanna, you never lost your patience or your smile.

You know a sushi roll is good when you're still thinking about it the next day.

My only regret is leaving a few crunchy morsels on the table. Had we not been long past the 3-second rule, I would have eaten my own careless discards.

Until we meet again, my spicy Carlos...until we meet again.

Coming to Austin last year from Tokyo, my husband and I were intent (manically focused may be more appropriate) on finding good sushi.  So after finding a house, it was onto more important things...

Over the course of a month we tried nearly every sushi restaurant in Austin and identied two places (Uchi and Musashino) that were on par with some of the best we've had.  Among those we tried was Sushi Sake and didn't have a good experience.  After nearly a year we decided to come back and not much has changed.

I guess it might be slightly helpful to give you some insight into our love of sushi.  Yes, we are sushi snobs (we even order our sushi in a particular sequence as many traditionalists do) but I am not necessarily sure how I feel about people who label themselves with that self-serving monikor.  Bottom-line, if you like the food then go with it and don't let the 'I'm from Japan', 'I used to live at Nobu in NYC' folks (oops- that's us) influence your opinion too much.

We started our meal with some miso soup and an order of nigiri maguro.  These are the essentials in any sushi restaurant and provide a good indicator of how good the quality of the meal will be.  The miso was overly watery with puny cubes of tofu that drowned out the taste of the dashi and didn't give us a fair opportunity to savor the taste of the miso.  The sushi looked wrong from the start...way too much rice which tasted like what you get at a Chinese restaurant.  Absolute lack of appropriate seasoning that screamed of sub-average quality rice wine vinegar.  The rice is such a crucial ingredient for sushi and Sushi Sake definitely had a bad night on our two visits.

We tried a few more pieces of red snapper, yellow tail, and toro before we called it quits on the nigiri.  Perhaps they thought we ordered our sushi as an onigiri (rice ball)?!  Since we were still hungry and realized that the quality of the sushi was not very good we went the roll route.  The spicy rolls, dragon rolls, and other fancy innovations masked the inferiority of the ingredients but still were off the mark.  Soggy seaweed from sitting at the counter too long, busted ends from poor preparation, and excessive rice (this isn't a buffet so one would think they'd lighten up on the carbs so their patrons would order more!).

Sushi snob or sushi noob, take this review for what it's worth.  Sushi Sake delivers sub-quality fish stuffed with flavorless rice that would be difficult for the majority of us to really enjoy enough to justify the expensive prices.  Maybe we'll try it again in a year...

Admittedly, the spicy sauce on the Spicy Susan (and Carlos) is the best spicy sauce in town.  And certainly there's nothing "wrong" with the fish here.  I just don't think this place quite lives up to what you pay for it (during dinner, at least).  You can eat for similar prices at Mikado, where the fish portions are bigger and the presentation is nicer (IMHO).  Or you can eat at Shilla and get fish as good as the fish at Sushi Sake, for about 70% of the price.  *That's* value.  :)

With options like Mikado and Shilla both so close to 183 , I don't expect I'll be running back to Sushi Sake anytime soon.

I've been here several times in the past two years and each time I'm left wanting something more. Although the sushi isn't terrible here, I feel that the quality was not worth the price. The sushi was always cut too big, the fish didn't taste as fresh as other places I've been to, and the service was not always great. Once, I went there around dinner time and there weren't more than 3 other couples at the restaurant but my boyfriend and I were seated in the far back. The waitress forgot to even take our orders or bring us water for the first 15 minutes. Afterward, it took them about 30 minutes to serve us our sushi, which tasted terrible and the soft shell crab was completely inedible. I have not been back since.

I love the Spicy Susan and Spicy Carlos but they are quite expensive.

The sushi is good and fresh but I have had better quality fish at Mikados for equal to less money.

I will go back to try their Happy Hour specials but wouldnt go back for dinner as I think its quite costly for what you get.

Eaten here twice. Probably won't go back. Don't order the bento box. You end up getting sushi that's sat around a while. Also had the dragon roll and spicy tuna roll. Doesn't always taste fresh and the rice is consistently on the dry side and not a nice sticky sushi rice.

I don't understand how everybody says this is the best sushi in Austin. I've been here twice, once for lunch once for dinner. The bento boxes are pretty good for lunch at a decent price, I would give Sushi Sake a 4 for that. But at dinner and for sushi, I give them a 2. The sushi isn't the worst I've ever had but it's definitely nowhere near the best. While the prices are similar to other sushi places, the quality definitely is not.  If you want sushi I would suggest going somewhere else..

Four words: Spicy Susan, Spicy Carlos.  They aren't on the menu, but they are the best sushi rolls I've ever had.  Sushi Sake is hands down my favorite sushi place in town.  The best part is that it has ample seating, so you hardly ever need to wait for a table (even on a Friday or Saturday night).  The party rooms in back are very cool in a semi-traditional Japanese sort of way.

I've never had anything but sushi here, so I can't speak for the rest of the menu.  They do have a bunch of tasty desserts, though!  Service is always great as well.

I have only been for lunch during the week. The service has almost always been quick, which is necessary for a lunch during the work week. However, there has been one or two times that they took way too long to bring the check. They have great lunch options when it comes to sushi and teriyaki. The sushi is fine. The nigiri is just the right size. I am always full after lunch; in fact, the teriyaki specials are a little too filling and I feel like I need a nap. However, you can't fall asleep in the restaurant because the music playing overhead is a strange compilation of rock's greatest hits and 90s dance music. I assume that when the business lunch crowd is mostly white collar and middle-aged, the management thinks, "let's try some BTO with Jesus Jones." I don't know how to explain it, really.

Fair warning: this review is a butchering of Sushi Sake.

My bf & I are UT alumns and on a recent trip back to Austin, we decided to go back to one of our old fave sushi joints, Sushi Sake. BIG MISTAKE. You know when u go back to places that in your head you held in such high regard, only to realize it wasn't THAT great to begin with? It was like that. It ruined all our college memories.

WHAT HAPPENED???

I'll just briefly summarize all the things we found absolutely WRONG with this place:
-The Chicken Kaarage appetizer had BBQ SAUCE on the side. Yah, don't try to pass it off as the real sauce. It's not.
-The Yokohama roll is a joke...I swear you couldn't even tell there were 3 different pieces of fish in there, unless you used a microscope.
-The sushi rolls were loose, there was more rice than fish, and the rice was not sticking like how vinegar-sushi rice is supposed to stick.
-The nigiri would've been decent, except the fish slices were sloppy. Presentation: 0 points. The fish freshness was ok.
-The Spicy Susan is a freakin joke. Yes, I used to order this a lot too back then, but I don't remember them DROWNING the entire roll in the sauce, so much so that when we ate it, everything was mush in your mouth...with spice.
-I thought I made a safe bet with the Spider Roll..but again, the pieces that were NOT the end pieces were TINY.
-What my bf hated the most was the Tempura Ice Cream. We thought, they can't screw that up, can they??? WRONG. It was doughy. Real tempura ice cream breaks off into crispy pieces when u break the shell. This was like eating dough...plus ice cream.
-The damage was $90 for sushi that was probably worth $50 for quality.

Now, we don't mind paying up for great sushi and good service, but this place was BAD. Oh, and try to avoid the restroom...it was FILTHY, with towels strewn everywhere, one toilet out of order, and the automatic towel dispenser out of batteries.

*Sigh*

But hey, I always try to end on a good note, so here they are:
-Order Oshinko...they're japanese pickles.
-Order Singapore Sling...so you can forget how bad your food tastes.

Goodbye, old friend.

The best sushi is austin. Get the spicy susan or spicy carlos rolls if you like rolls. That sauce is so good I literally lick the plate clean, much to the embarrassment of my wife.

I tried nearly every other suchi place in town and every time i leave the other places i wish I spent my money at sushi sake.

I went with friends last Friday and we ordered a variety.

Rainbow roll, spicy Carlos, spicy Susan, volcano roll, Phoenix roll (I think that's the fried one) and something else that I can't remember.  I love the simplicity of the rainbow roll, but I definitely can agree with all the other reviewers that the Carlos and the Susan were outstanding.  The fried roll was like sushi crack.  Skip the tempura.  It was ok, but another roll would have been better.  It was all beautiful (something that is contributing to my recent sushi addiction).  The service was great.  I will definitely be back.

Eh, this place is where I go to get a cheap sushi fix.  I gave up my sushi virginity here 5 years ago, so when I eventually branched out to other sushi places, we fell out of touch as most first time partners go.  Sushi Sake is pretty average and is really more like 3.5 stars.  If you do go, eat here during lunch time.  The lunch specials are pretty awesome (think 12 bucks for a spider roll, cucumber roll, and shrimp hand roll.  The spider roll is 9.95 by itself).  Come early, like before 12:10, this place gets packed fast.

FYI, fresh fish arrives weekly Monday and Thursday.

Initially, wasn't my first choice for sushi but for the group this was the most convenient location last week. Boy was I surprised!

Our server, Ben I believe, was OUTstanding. He was fast, efficient and helpful with suggestions. We ate like pigs, although I doubt pigs eat sushi. What do they eat? Well, it was like that.

The uber white fish melted in our mouths. I think it was actually called Super White. Their specialty rolls were also rockin'. Gosh, do I love me some sushi!

The only annoying thing was the hostess wouldn't seat us until all of our party was there and since it was only 5 pm on a weekday, the restaurant was empty. Pet peeve of mine. I get the rules, but not when the rules don't make sense.

I have a friend that LOVES this place.  It's his favorite restaurant in town and he'd be crushed if he saw that I gave it only 3 stars out of 5.   But really - as good as the sushi is (and it is so good) I can't stand the location/atmosphere and the prices are just too high, especially for things like tempura starters.

The real standout here though is the ramen.  As much as I love the sushi , I can rarely afford it, but I can always afford the ramen.   The ramen is absolutely to die for.  Can't miss it.  Other than that, if you just got paid, try the tempura sushi.  May be that I'm crazy but after eating that one night everything was peaceful and good and all was right in the world.

Oh yeah, the service is always zany here.  I'd forgotten about that.  We've had rolls come out after ordering desert, when your mind is already on plum ice cream, you don't want to come face to face with a caterpillar roll.  I've never come here where the dishes came out appropriately.  I realize that's probably just a natural consequence of sushi cheffing but it's really strange to get a roll as you're trying to pay and it seems like that always happens here.

Update 2/9/08 - came here today and ordered ramen and now I don't feel well.  It tasted a little funky, not as good as usual.  I didn't order any sushi, just the ramen, so I'm not saying the quality's dropped, just that things were not as good as usual.

I give the "Spicy Carlos" 7 Stars (Damnit Kristina D... i thought I was going to be the one to tell the world about it) but I don't think it's even on the menu.  Seriously, I've had a fair amount of sushi, even in Japan and generally I love it all, but I've never had anything close to as good as Spicy Carlos... the combination of texture (has a tempura something inside... lightly fried and just right), taste (a little spicey and the sauce's flavor is to die for... get resurrected... and die again for), presentation, and price is perfect.

I took my best friend and his girlfriend there like 6 months ago... they SWORE that they didn't like sushi but I made them try it.  We ended-up getting more and talking about when we could go again.

I take away a star for ambiance... it's not bad, its just not funky.  And I take away a star because I've had spicy carlos every time I go and so I don't know the menu well.  But that still leaves 5 stars for Spicy Carlos.

It's like a party in my mouth and everyone's invited.

PS  Spicy Carlos

============================

Update:  Ate there again tonight... probably my 5th time... and I downgraded it to 4 stars.  I still love Spicy Carlos... but the appetizers were just ok (the raw beef appetizer is pretty expensive but bland for the price)

Sushi Saki has pretty good sushi, and is jumbled in with 2 other establishments that offer comparable sushi (Mikado and Kyoto).  It's not the best sushi I've ever had, but for the pricing I think it's pretty good and you won't be disappointed.

My favorite is the Spicy Susan roll, which is a salmon roll covered in a spicy sauce.  This happens to be the sister roll to Mikado's "Hottie Susan" roll, so if you're a fan of that then you should try Susan out.

The ambience is different here - - it's well lit, there's plenty of seating, and we've never had bad service here either.  It's one of the sushi places I enjoy going for lunchtime and for birthday parties, and I urge you to check out Sushi Sake!

Being an avid sushi eater, I do not have good impression for places that claimed to have uni sushi "sold out" or "not available" because it's never sold out, not even a popular place like Mikado, Uchi or Musashino!

Came here on a Tuesday night, there was no dinner crowd so we didn't have to wait. Their sushi came out pretty slow and they taste OK. Spider roll looked alright, usually other places can make very fancy looking spider rolls. The Spicy Susan is pretty good. My friend ordered the capuccino ice cream and it didn't look very appertizing so we switched it to the plum flavor one. For drinks we had apple martini and Sake Sunrise, they were both good.

Overall, it was an OK place to go. I have eaten better sushi at other places in the North.

1. Pretty good sushi, not fantastic but still very good
2. Great service
3. Good atmosphere

Overall this place is pretty good and not too expensive although we spent $80 for 2 people with desert. For $25 they have a Sumo platter which has a pretty good variety of sushi and is a great choice if you don't know exacty what you want.

The past three times I have ate at Sushi Sake was pretty bad.  I ordered out once and the told me they will have it ready in 45 minutes, yikes!  That was fine because I knew it takes them a long time to make sushi if you eat in, the bad thing was I had to wait another half and hour to get the take out on top of the 45 minutes.

The last experience I had with them was pretty bad.  The service was slow and terrible.  My friends and I came in around 6pm we placed our orders and again it was a good half hour before one of our 5 rolls came out.  They didn't give us plates or ginger or wasabi to eat the rolls with until 7 minutes later when we finally got the waitress attention.  Even then we got one roll at a time every 20 minutes, seriously slow.  An hour later our fifth roll was still not out.   Our waitress kept on telling us that she put the order in and she doesn't know what is taking so long.  She went and talked to the head sushi chef to only be told that he gave it to his other sushi chefs to make.  We went down the line and the last sushi chef who apparently didn't know what he was doing said out loud that he will not get around to it until later.  The manager came out and scolded the waitress in front of the guest.  The manager talked to the head chef and he said he passed it down to the other chefs. We ended up asking them to take it off the bill because we were not going to wait another 20 minutes for them to make it.  This use to be my favorite sushi places in town and now the service and management has gone downhill so I don't recommend this place for you unless you are willing to sit and wait an hour for you food that might still not be prepared for you and for management to unprofessionally scold the waitress in front of guests.

They  have ok happy hour prices, the rolls are good and decent size.  Their specialty rolls are awesome (Carlos and Susan).  REALLY wish those rolls were included in the happy hour prices because they are kind of pricey.

I tend to go only around happy hour times, because it can get very expensive really fast.  Their lunch specials are ok, wish they had more variety in the sushi lunch combos.

Good location, wish they would open another further north in Cedar Park!

An oasis in a desert of fast food and chains, this is the place for lunch if you are in the 183/360 area.

They have great bento boxes (my favorite is the shrimp tempura and chicken teryaki).

Prices are reasonable, service is great at lunch, and the food is pretty good.

Sushi Sake was my first real exposure to sushi, and I have to say, I may become a convert. It was recommended to me by my manager at work, who's something of a connoisseur of the cuisine, so I trusted her opinion. My date took me there since he wanted to introduce me to the wonders of raw fish, and we started off with some sashimi (sp?) and some crunchy rolls, both of which were delicious (I think the crunchy rolls were actually my favorite dish).

After that, we tried the nigiri (sp?) and asked for the chef's special. We sat at the bar and so we got to watch the chefs prepare everyone's dishes -- they certainly seemed on the ball and the experience seemed more "authentic," somehow. Like I said, this was my first exposure to sushi, so now I feel like I ought to have some BAD sushi so I can make a proper comparison. But I found the food excellent and I would certainly recommend the place to both sushi novices (like me) and experts. Yum!

Just discovered they have discounted sushi prices on certain rolls during happy hour, which I think is from 4:30 to 6:30.  Spicy Susan here we come!

Apparently the trends for my birthday and dates are sushi, this is not an exception.  I went here on a first date.  Like CoCo's in Houston, I found it to be pretty quiet for a Saturday night as well.  Food was alright, nothing I would crave, but nothing that was inedible.  We had gotten the tempura appetizers and sake, and I got a roll.  I would go again, but only out of convenience.  It is pretty easy to get to with parking available - probably because no one else was there.

I like their all kinds of rolls. But they are not that special.
One dish called kasudon is my favorite. It's only $7.99. Their Negmaki can't compare to Kenichi at all. the beef is cooked too much.
