once again i am rate-conflicted as i want to give this restaurant a 5-star rating for the ambiance and the efficiency and splendidness of the bartender/server---but a 3-star for the sushi-sashimi combo and the somewhat obnoxious house music (check the hard-to-notice dj booth in the far back wall! I wonder how much he gets paid an hour?!)

ughhhgghh. so 4-star it is.

overview of my sushi room adventure:

the night was looking like a cool laid-back saturday evening.
downtown hollywood was busy with the usual 30s to 50s crowd.
i felt out of place----but for some reason i keep going back.

the restaurant was full except for the bar.
so we cozied on up to the stainless steel bar top.
with martini in my hand--to my lips--and my date sipping on a jameson over ice we began to graze the menu.

under the advice of our bartender we tried the spicy tuna wrapped in cucumber roll as an appetizer. scored like woah there... best roll ever!

my date has a thing for combos and we figured the sushi chef would do our taste buds right given the modern and moody feel of the place, so we ordered the sushi/sashimi combo. the california roll was probably the best one i've ever had, but most of the sushi/sashimi lacked something.

i decided it was probably an error in our decision making so i ordered another martini, this time nice and dirty.
with a full buzz on, a full belly, and a date that engaged me in fulfilling babble, i left the sushi room with a positive attitude.

i would go back, but this time focus on their specialty rolls or have the server do all of the ordering for me.

check it for sure if you are looking for a date sushi place---just ask your server:

1. do you know the menu well?
2. if so, can you make suggestions (of course based on your personal tasts)?

Great sushi!with great music.The whole entire time I was eating I was dancing so overall I had a great time.Small  but great!By the way its near downtown Hollywoods young circle it shares a restraunt with Mamamia.
