Sushi O Sushi is my sushi restaurant of choice when in San Jose.  It's got decent parking, great service and delicious sushi!  As other reviewers have said, there can be quite the wait but I think it's worth it.  I recommend sitting at the sushi bar, but that's my MO at all sushi restaurants.
The fish is fresh and I love some of the sushi combinations they come up with.
    - Catalina Sunrise: light and zesty
    - Alaskan: anything with cream cheese has my vote
I've enjoyed every meal at Sushi O Sushi and love the service and fresh fish!

    Sushi OK Sushi

The food is okay, about average. Nothing too memorable about it. I actually went here a year ago, but I forgot about it. So I decided to try the restaurant again this week. So I'm writing this review to remind myself about my experience, in case I decide to visit Sushi O Sushi again.

    Pros:
+ The Sushi, Tempura, Saba Shioyaki, Chicken Teriyaki are good.
    + Nice clean decor.

    Cons:
    - A forgettable experience.
    - Air is a little humid and stuffy.
    - Higher prices. The dinner combinations are priced about right, but everything else is on the higher end of the price scale (compared to similar Japanese restaurants in the area).

This is another Korean owned sushi restaurant. There are plenty up here in the bay area that are decent, but Sushi O Sushi is not one of them. After our server took our order, it took an unreasonably long time to get our three rolls. I don't remember which three we ordered but honestly it doesn't matter because all were subpar and not worth the wait. I'd say the rolls here were about as average as Harumi's.

I will say that the restaurant is nice inside. Clean and modern. Interior decor is better than the food!

Maybe we lucked out, but on this night the sashimi was super fresh? Like I'm drooling while recollecting this memory of the raw salmon and yellowfin... However, the sushi rolls were just average as compared to some of my other favorite sushi restaurants like Imari in Irvine.

My work orders from here one a week, I think it's your pretty average non Japanese owned sushi place.

The food isn't bad, just really really average for everything.

I came here during a Friday night with a friend around 6ish and was seated immediately. I usually get sushi and sashimi at Japanese Restaurant but both my friend and I wanted something hot.

    We ordered:

CA Deluxe roll (with eel and avocado) -- 3 Stars, you can't go wrong with anything with avocado, eel and rice. I think this roll is slightly too soggy and too sweet.

Beef Sukiyaki- 4 stars. I rarely have sukiyaki so I have nothing to compare this with. The base soup is really sweet (but delicious) and there are lots of goodies, like mushroom, beef, veggies, stuff like that.

Veggie Udon - 5 stars. Super fresh, both the noodle and the soup were good. Very suitable for someone who's craving something warm and light and filling.

Service was awesome. The Korean waiter was super nice and patient. This place got busy after 7ish so come somewhat early.

This review is for the catering service:

I love their fresh sashimi/sushi and go here around twice every month for many years for my sushi fix.  So when I had a party at home, I thought sure, lets call them up to cater it since their restaurant is so good.  Boy was I wrong. This is the SECOND time I have attempted to cater a 50 person party at my home ($1,500-$2k budget) and each time I call, they are so rude and basically says go and look at the menu. HOWEVER, the menu they post online is WRONG. He says yeah it's wrong, add at least 10% more.  All the prices they post online are wrong and have been wrong for the 2 yrs I have tried to cater through them.  So basically they don't know and probably make up prices as they go for catering.

So if you want to eat there, go to to restaurant, but their catering service is horrific.  I have tried twice (I thought the first time was a fluke) and both times resulted in annoyance and extreme rudeness by the restaurant.  They must be making too much $ to care about a small $2k catering order. I will take my catering business elsewhere...

Came here as a last minute lunch excursion.
It is on the pricier side, but I think it is totally worth it!
The rolls here are absolutely tasty, especially the papaya spicy tuna rolls.

Very fresh sashimi that you can mix and match. The way they cut it is similar to Cha Cha Sushi's: triangular, thick, and served cold and firm. I highly recommend the super white tuna, salmon, and Saba.

    Asparagus beef rolls:
Yum. The sauce at the base is slightly sweet and not heavy. No carbs!

It's pretty big inside of here. There is a big room in the front and another in the back.  The sushi bar seats maybe 6 and faces the chefs.

I would Come back to try the dinner bentos. They have some pretty interesting combo's.

FRESH SALMON, as salmon is the new favorite fish of choice... I asked for water, my friend asked for tea, and we both got served tea AND water.  Perfect.  One of the better sushi places around the bay... as the fish IS really fresh.  The house sake was pretty strong... strong tasting and strong feeling.  Filled 3 sake glasses per person though, for the large.  Good deal.

Sushi O Sushi use to be one of my favourite sushi restaurants...it is close to work, the prices are reasonable.  When i go to Sushi O Sushi for lunch, i usually get sushi, but today, i got one of the lunch special, ramen and pork dumplings.  after waiting for 15 minutes, our waitress brought me the other lunch special, when i told her that i ordered the other lunch special, she checked her order pad, and realized that she made a mistake.  Waiting ANOTHER 15 minutes before my ramen came in...what is the point of getting a lunch special if it takes them forever to arrive?  By the time it did arrive, i had to get it to go.  All i got was an apologize...if this was a Western restaurant, my lunch would have been comped. It will be a long time before i can think about going back.
I really like their sushi, but this is a HUGE turnoff...30 minutes to get a lunch special out.

I eat here often and I highly recommend the crumbly spider sushi, pretty much can't go wrong with any of the sushi though, it's all delicious.
Sit at the Sushi bar if you can, you get served faster and the portions seem more generous. Sometimes the Sushi Chefs will prepare a special free taste of something which you don't find most other Sushi places! The sashimi is always fresh but sliced a little too thick for me but no problem if you're sitting at the bar, they are always willing to prepare it how you want.

The Sake marinated black cod dinner, seaweed salad and the Agedashi tofu are excellent dishes as well.

But if you're a lightweight when it comes to food...whatever you do--DON'T order the fish dumplings!!! They taste like something you'd scrape off a wharf on a hot summer day. I guess it's an acquired taste :P

It makes me sad when I have to give two stars for restaurant but I cannot help it if the quality of the food is not to my standard.

I came here for dinner and I expect this place to be good after all the reviews raving about how good this place was. I order some appetizer and a few sushi roll. My gawd, the sushi was dry and the rolls fall apart as you try to pick it up. What was worst was the main ingredient which is the fish. It literally smell and did not taste nor look fresh. I was so disappointed.

    Meh.

My boyfriend and our friends and I pretty much waited like an hour to be seated. Granted, there was 8 of us but we were hungry so the wait felt longer than it was.

Food was good, but NOT AWESOME. (I have a favorite sushi restaurant, so I'm kinda biased.) Service could be a little better. The lady would come by the table but she wouldn't say anything. Just looked at us, and walked away...At least ask us how we're doing! Sigh.

I wouldn't come here again, (because I prefer elsewhere) but only if I am asked to tag along or one of our friends choose to come here, or held hostage.

I got to Sushi O Sushi at least once every couple of weeks and I have yet to have a bad experience.  The fish is always fresh, the service is exceptional, the portions generous, and the prices fair.

Just FYI... I always prefer to sit at the Sushi bar with one or two friends and have sake / beer with my sushi dishes, so I don't have extensive experience in the main dining area.  I've always liked the sushi chefs and they almost always will give a free dish (in return for sake shots we share with them).

I would highly recommend trying their Lion King roll.  It is one of their cooked rolls and it just melts in your mouth.  It is one of my favorite rolls I've had at any sushi restaurant, period.  Their California Rolls are also awesome.  I don't know what is it that they do, but theirs seems to excel over California rolls I've had at other sushi places.

The restaurant gets quite crowded in the evenings, so you may want to make a reservation or wait till the big crowds leave.

DO NOT COME HERE!.. trust me they don't want your business..

A friend and i walked in on a Sunday at 2:50

I notice the dinning room is full for the most part and get excited to try the sushi..

Then the hostess pops out of nowhere and yells at me across the dinning room "we are closed!!"

Not only was that rude but according to yelp they are open till 9:30.. i asked her politely about the closing time that is listed on yelp and she says no we are closed

since we were going to do take out anyway i asked her if its ok to order take out .. considering that many tables were full someone was probably still in the kitchne making food..

Her reply was: we serve food until 2:45

i looked at the time and it was barely 2:50..

at that point i didn't even want to argue with her..there are plenty of good sushi places around for me to go to than waste my time here where the hostess made it pretty clear we were not welcome at

Ok, her is the thing: I went here about a year ago and I went here just recently. And to be honest I was disappointed how the quality has dropped. (Btw: it is a korean place, not japanese. and yes, koreans eat sushi too. hahaha)

we came here for dinner, because we didn't know what to eat and kind of craved for sushi. Since I was here before, i thought this is the best place around Santa Clare. But oh boy, the sushi was weird. The baked roll implode and the rice was just not yummy.

Unfortunately I have to give this place 2 stars now. Maybe it was just that day, but that day, the food was not good!

My favorite thing here is the fresh wasabi. No other sushi joint around here makes fresh wasabi.  I could buy a whole jug of this shit and take it with me to other sushi restaurants.  It kicks regular pasty wasabi's ass! Hell, i'd take this wasabi and bring it to non-sushi joints. rub it on some steak, fries, mangos, falafels and ice cream.

Also, drop by next door for some Honeyberry's roti buns.

Sashimi:  4 stars.  Fresh tuna, salmon and hamachi.  Good portion and OK price for the combo ($18).

Hamachi kama:  3 stars.  Very small portion and overpriced ($11).  I've had it much better elsewhere. Not impressed.

Lion King roll: 3 stars.  Just standard roll but also expensive. ($13)

Hot Sake:  Standard and overpriced ($8).

Service:  5 stars.  Fast, attentive and friendly.

3-4 stars! Today it was a 4 star for me, sometimes, it's just A-OK. I have found what I love to eat here and it's their tuna sashimi salad, rainbow roll, and hubby loves their spicy tuna papaya rolls. Their raw oysters are pretty good but ask for extra lemon juice and it'll be bomb! Pink dragon roll is pretty good if you're into a zesty taste. I do find their miso soup kinda salty sometimes, I get tricked cause you can't go to a sushi restaurant and not have miso soup! I do end up drinking lots of tea too! I'm not a huge fan of bento boxes, so this review is mostly for the food I mentioned above.

Omega Three, Papaya Spicy Tuna Roll.... SO GOOD. Man. I was pretty amazed. My expectations were low as heck- I mean, Sushi O Sushi? With a name like that, definitely no good, cheap sushi, right? NO! It's actually pretty expensive to dine here. Sad face. But these rolls are worth it. Very delish. (My stomach actually had some trouble with one of these rolls, but my stomach is really sensitive, sad face.)

Service was pretty good. We came here about 15 or so minutes before closing time. They let us in and everything came out pretty fast, actually.

Ambiance? Uh. Hella loud, actually. The acoustics are so echo-y. There was a small group of people seated in the middle of the area. The floor is wood, walls are pretty much uncovered, and the ceiling is that cheap foam stuff. That one group was pretty loud- I heard every word they said, and we were seated in the corner of the restaurant!

Oh well. I'd come here again... if I was a billionare~ jk, no. Maybe if I wanted super expensive sushi.

Kudos for the best hwe-dup-bap I've ever eaten.  (Korean style sashimi+salad over rice served with red pepper paste.)

Have been here several times for lunch and have had good luck.

In regards to the food, it possibly the best KOREAN sushi place I've been to in California.  Service was average.

I think this is my second and last time going to this place.  The first time was years ago with a group of my friends.  The restaurant hasn't changed much from what I recall.  The ambiance and furniture was still the same.

I know that people have expressed the host was friendly and attentive.  I found them lacking in those traits.  We had to ask multiple times for service with the basic things like tea, napkins, etc.  They were friendly in that they would say that would get it but it doesn't help if it never gets done.

I don't think this sushi restaurant is that much different than other sushi restaurant.  The sushi was alright.  If you plan to go there, you should really stick to just the sushi.  We ordered the beef sukiyaki and that was not very good.  The vegetable was somewhat wilted and the broth not tasty at all.

I'd figure the first time was just a bad night.  With two successive bad experience, I'll probably go somewhere else to get my sushi "fix".

I came here after hearing a bunch of random people say how AWESOME sushi O sushi is. I was pretty impressed by how well decorated the place was, and we were greeted very warmly. HOWEVER... the red flag was raised when I noticed a hint of korean accent.. sorry, but we all know when a japanese place is owned by a korean, it's not going to be authentic.. SORRY! IT'S THE TRUTH!

Anyways, the rolls were all decently priced and looked absolutely amazing so I ordered the Lion King roll after checking some other yelp reviews about it. It was baked in this delicious sauce which was nice, but I didn't enjoy how the salmon resting on top of my roll was pretty much entirely cooked! It tasted kind of fishy because of how cooked it was, but the sauce kind of covered the taste.

The service was very good and I think I would come here again if I was in the mood for rolls and not sashimi. Be prepared for delicious rolls but not authentic sushi!

The vibe here is pretty sick-- they've got black lights going, which really sets the mood.

The sashimi is always fresh and I like their rolls a lot. (I've ordered the dragon roll, spider roll, and caterpillar roll before.) I'd say that the chicken teriyaki is pretty good too. Overall, I don't have much complaints about the food. It's yummy, to be sure.

That being said, service here sucks. Out of all the times I've been here, we've mostly been ignored (so imagine me awkwardly standing at the door) and our waters/hot teas are left desperately unattended, even when we asked.

It's not that pricey here, I guess. It's decent sushi anyways, so I think it's worth it. I always think twice before coming here though, just because it's a bit of a drive and I can find sushi that's equally good with better service.

My former favorite sushi spot, but still holds a place dear in my heart. Don't get me wrong, SOS still has great sushi after all these years...It just isn't my #1 anymore.

Aside from that, they've made a selection of new rolls and their fish is still always super fresh. The sashimi may not be as fat and generous as they used to be...but fresh nonetheless. Great place for sashimi and raw fish rolls! Their house salad dressing is still bombdotcom too.

This time, we ordered a new roll--the jimbo, which had shrimp tempura in the center and cucumber? topped with tuna, avocado and unagi and unagi sauce...tasty! And of course the lion king roll, with it's creamy goodness. Spicy scallop nigiri...YUM! I love spicy scallop. And another roll I forgot that had tuna and avocado inside and unagi on top, not memorable. Lastly, sashimi dinner with two orders salmon and one tuna. No super white available that night. A bit pricier than cha cha sushi, but I think we are getting a little bit more also.

Came here with gf, and bro and sis-in-law from out of town.

The scallops came very late, a good 10 minutes after we finished everything else.  The waitress apologized saying "Sorry, we had to let it defrost."  OOOPS!  Not the freshest apparently!

But everything else was very fresh and impressive.  Definitely still on the upper end of the sushi spectrum.  Be prepared to spend!

Great variety of sushi rolls. Not really authentic.  A bit overpriced.

I was curious about this restaurant because I saw people waiting in line over the weekend when I drove by.   So I finally tried it and it was a bit disappointing.

Raw fish was not fresh.  So I'd rather only order rolls rather than the nigiri.

That one star represents the worst attitude from the owner.

While I was having dinner at the place, someone broke into my car and stole everything in there.  After police came and filed a report, and I filed insurance claim, I went back to the restaurant to let the owner know of the incident.

His first question was "How long have you lived in the US?" I was like "Excuse me?" We only had conversation for five minutes, but his attitude was so appalling that I WOULD NEVER GO BACK there. During our conversation, what he basically said was,

    1. It's all your fault.
    2. I won't tell the property manager because they won't do anything.
    3. It happens to our employees all the time.

So, he pretty much told me that the area is not safe and thus the theft was my fault for coming to his restaurant. Yeah, a great logic there.

I tried to explain to him that the theft wasn't his fault and I was not looking to get some free meal coupon from him, but this incident should cause you to concern about safety of his patrons. But, his response was "I just don't care."

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! It's not like his restaurant is the only sushi restaurant I can go. So, bye-bye!  Sayonara!  I WON'T BE BACK EVER!

    3.5 stars.

Overall: Pretty fresh, slightly overpriced sushi - just very slow service.

Food: I used to come here quite frequently and stopped after a semi-bad incident - (I was completely ignored for 20 minutes when I had phoned in my togo order and came to pick it up, and the food in the takeout was squished. However after the incident, the owner apologized called and apologized). My favorite go to meal is the Hwae-Dop-Bap which is a Korean twist on a sashimi salad (spicy Korean red pepper vinegar paste mixed with chunks of sashimi mixed with greens and rice). I also enjoy their spicy chicken roll which is special because it is heated up.

Location: Honey Berry/Catcus is right next door so swing on there for a yummy time. It is right behind Jiffy Lube so you can not miss it. Parking gets a bit iffy around lunch/dinner time so go further out into the Petco area and you will find parking.

Service: I know they get swamped and can not assist you right away, however some acknowledgment that you are present would at least make me feel better about where I am choosing to spend my money. If you get a waitress that knows you or you sit at the bar and give drinks to the sushi-men it is a whole different story.

Come with an expectation that you will wait and you will enjoy yourself.

My sister, girlfriend and I decided to have sushi for lunch on a Sunday. The sushi places around our area were closed on a Sunday afternoon except Sush o Sushi. We ordered:

    - Bay Island Roll
    - CA Deluxe
    - Cherry Blossom
    - Vegetarian Roll
    - Side Salads

Everything tasted good and came out in a timely manner. Service was great. We will be back for another Sunday lunch.
