This place is my little secret in Midtown. It's tiny - seats 8 people plus maybe four more at the sushi bar - and is tucked into a building making it easy to miss as you walk down the street.

But the fish is outstanding, noticeably better than many other sushi places in town.  The size and décor of the place transports you somewhere more relaxed than midtown, and you forget briefly about the crowds and tourists just outside.

The price is a little higher than your average sushi joint, but the quality and experience of it all makes it well worth it.

I am update to discover this place has CLOSED DOWN and re-opened with the same decor as another restaurant / new management.

The food totally sucks.  I felt sick after the food here.  The only good thing was the dumplings..

Not coming back.

It was freezing cold and we were hungry.  Lucky for me I had my iPhone and was able to go to Yelp mobile and find this little jem.

Sushi Jun is amazing - the restaurant is absolutely tiny and quiet!  I would guess no bigger than 500-600 square feet (including the kitchen). We sat at the bar and got the sushi combo for two -- everything was fantastic.

I only wish I lived in NYC and would be back here more frequently - for now I'll just keep this in the back of my head until my return.

I ducked in here by myself thinking I'd have a couple of pieces of nigiri for a snack, but was enticed by the $35 omakase.  ($35 is pretty darn cheap for an omakase [tasting menu] in Manhattan.  There were also omakase at $50 and $65.)

I was expecting three sushi courses and maybe some miso soup.  Instead, I was presented with a lovely seaweed and clam salad; an avocado and salmon-roe salad; a monkfish liver in a light sauce that was to die for; sashimi (in this case, salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and fluke); and several pieces of nigiri.  Then I got a green-tea pudding (like a flan or crème caramel) to top it off.  Well worth the money.

As the other reviews have said, this place is tiny--just three small tables and the sushi bar. But it was cozy, not cramped.  The service was attentive, and if you know a little Japanese, you'll catch the chefs' (there are two of them, perhaps husband and wife?) running commentary on the food they're preparing.

I will definitely return, next time with a friend, and perhaps try one of the more expensive omakase.

Excellent sushi restaurant!  My friend and I both had the omakase C, for $35, and we absolutely loved everything.  Well prepared, fresh, tasty, and plentiful, it was one of the best meals I've ever had.  The highlight was the monkfish liver, but all the sushi was fresh and delicious.  I only wished I hadn't misread the price for our bottle of sake, which came to $55; $16 was the price for a glass.  Didn't matter though, and since my friend drank very littleI, I took home the leftover sake which was also excellent.  Oh, service was gracious and efficient without fawning.  We lingered after our meal for a long time and we never felt unwelcome to stay.  A priceless gem of a place!

This place is fantastic.

Excellent staff.  The food is great.  It's clean.  I haven't had anything there that I didn't like.  Great selection of sake.  One of the best Japanese chefs in the city.

I suppose the only catch is that it's a smaller place, but I'd rather it that way.  It's quiet, and a great spot to go to with a friend just to relax and talk (and, well, eat).

Try the unagi don and the spicy scallop.  I mean, everything is delicious, but those two dishes were the ones that really floored me.

Okay, I am writing a second review on a restaurant.  Is that legal? Well it doesn't matter because I am so impressed with this restaurant that I realized I didn't do it justice in the first review.

Each time I visit, a new dish appears in front of me that simply blows my mind.  I keep thinking, "the can't top that", but Jun eventually proves me wrong.

This evening, I had one of the best Sake's I've ever tasted combined with five different dishes that are not on the menu at Jun's. The first one was slightly warmed slices of Mirugai over lettuce.  The second one was tender squid with Enoki mushrooms cooked in a succulent broth. Next was a beautiful presentation of mackerel wrapped in nori with a shiso leaf in the middle.  Fourth was a tail section of flounder that had been previously cooked as a Japanese confit and then stewed in a broth with tofu.  In the middle I ordered some salmon and yellowtail sashimi.  The yellowtail at Jun's is the best I've had in NY or anywhere for that matter.  Its like butter!  The last dish was a fragrant soup that ended the meal perfectly. By the way the  Sake was Kuromatsu-Hakushika Junmai Dai-Ginjo.  So smooth!

I've been going to this restaurant on and off for over 8 months and have gotten to know Jun and his wonderful staff. Although everyone who goes to Jun's gets great food, I guarantee, the longer you know Jun, the better the experience gets. Great food. Great people. Great value.

I hope you have he opportunity to enjoy the Sushi Jun experience!

Sushi Jun - a small Japanese restaurant located in Worldwide Plaza.  It has a look which makes me think of small joints in Tokyo (not that I've ever been there, mind you).  Anyway, it's such a cute place, I just HAD to try it out for lunch one day.

The place maybe seats 14-16 people.  There is a waitress and two chefs, one which seems to be the owner.  The day I was there, I sat at the bar as there were no tables available.  There was a party of six taking up most of the place, and another single patron at the only other table.

Although the party took up most of the attention, I found the service to be quite good.  The waitress did her best to make me feel at home, and the chefs behind the bar were quite pleasant.

I ordered a lunch box of the day - salmon teriyaki, rice, hijiki, salad and a roll.  The meal was good - not spectacular, but I'd be interested in trying the place again as environment and service was relatively good.

Dinner is also another option, but seems a bit pricey compared to some of the other Japanese restaurants in the area.  I'd say, stick with lunch if you're interested in trying this place out.

This is a great little sushi joint around the theater district / hells kitchen.  Excellent, original rolls, fresh sushi, and great service.  The place is definitely kind of tiny - probably seats about 7 at the bar and about 20 seated.  If you are in the area for any reason and need a sushi fix, this place will not do you wrong.

I've only been here once, and I tried the Omakase menu with my sister. I didn't know what that meant, but apparently, it's a tasting menu that you don't even get to see. they give you the prices of 3 menus ranging from $34 to $70ish. we chose the $50 one and i didn't feel it was worth it. I wasn't that big a fan of raw seafood to begin with. But each of the 7 courses seemed to focus on rawness. it was very filling. but very cold. it ended fittingly with green tea and vanilla ice cream.
