I love going here, it's so good each and every time I go. I almost always get the Chirashi Jyu Sushi Box Matsu, it's two boxes placed on top of each other. The top box has an array of different types of sashimi and the bottom has all the rice. It's so tasty and not super expensive, it's like $25 I think. Their sushi is fresh and doesn't have a hint of the fishy taste like other places I've been to.

Sushi Go 55 is more traditional Japanese Sushi instead of the American style Sushi places where it has a lot of rolls. So if you're looking for the California roll and Caterpillar roll, then go somewhere else. They do have those types of rolls, but it's not their specialty. They also have really good tempura, I like the variety of veggie tempura they offer as well. The presentation is really nice and the staff is very nice as well.

Chirashi ($18) was great. Sashimi was good quality.

Make sure you remember to get your parking validated.

Happy hour deals aren't much of a deal. $3 oyster shooters and $3 beers.

Came here for our first time when our hunger for food overpowered our hunger for culture.  And what was supposed to be a project in finding a nice piece of art at DTLArtwalk turned into going out for dinner.
It's located on the top floor of the shopping center.  And don't forget to validate!

We did omakase at the bar.  Started off with yellowtail collar which was really good.  It was fresh and juicy and the skin was cooked perfectly crispy without being burnt! One of the better yellowtail collars I've had. The fish was pretty fresh and the price was reasonable.  The sushi chef was a nice little old man who did a great job of dishing out a variety of different fish. I'm usually not a fan of spanish mackarel, but the one I had hear was delicious.  We decided to end with a crab hand roll and was slightly disappointed, Sasabune still wins with that one.
It was good but nothing was amazing.  Nothing really stood out where I wanted more, but overall everything was delicious.
A good sushi place to go if you're in the area, nothing I would go out of my way for.
A lot of people have mentioned the chirashi bowl, next time I'll have to try that.

I've been here twice, and after my most recent trip, it's safe to say that I've no desire to come back.

We got the fancy Chirashi Jyu Sushi Box Matsu, a two tiered box that was gorgeously presented. ($24) and an order of Vegetable Tempura ($6ish)

My friends got the Chicken Teriyaki ($?) and the Seafood Tempura Dinner ($19)

The experience that left us all irked and sour was based around the Seafood Tempura Dinner. That meal was the last to arrive, and when it finally did, it was a bowl of rice and small plate of maybe like...5 pieces of Tempura? It didn't have any vegetable tempura that the menu had said.

So we asked if they had forgotten about the vegetable portion of the tempura, and they said no, the Seafood Tempura didn't have vegetable tempura. We were left puzzled, because we had remembered reading it on the menu.

We then asked another waitress for the menu, just to double check and ease our minds. But it was clear, on the description, that vegetable tempura comes with that meal. So we had to flag the waitress that brought the menu over, to let her know that YES, it does come with it.

She looked at the menu, and said that she'll inform our actual waitress to get it cleared up.

Our actual waitress was a busy bee, going to all of the other tables except ours, and 10 min later, she arrived to us asking what was going on? We then had to point out the menu description again. She furrowed her eyebrows, and said ok I'll check with the kitchen.

Keep in mind that my friend has not touched her dinner at all, because she didn't want them to accuse her of eating all the "missing" tempura, so she was starving by the time they realized they were wrong and FINALLY brought out the vegetable tempura that was originally supposed to have been there in the first place.

It turns out to be 3 small pieces of veggie tempura. Oyyyy. Really not worth it for $19 and almost 30 mins of getting this sorted out.

Also, the waitress didn't apologize for the mistake. She comes back with, that the menus are OUTDATED. Really? All of the menus are outdated?

It would've been fine if they had just apologized their mistake and moved on. But to create an excuse that the menus were outdated was not our problem. If the menu says it, you should have it and provide it.

Highly disappointed. With so many other quality sushi places in Little Tokyo, I can pass on this place.

Sushi Go 55 is my jam when it comes to sushi in Little Tokyo, and for the price it's a steal because the fish is fresh and the service is always top notch. I usually rock the double layer chirashi or the sashimi plate, and add a handroll or a couple pieces of nigiri depending on my mood, but either entree alone is enough for even the hungriest of appetites.

All of the entrees are accompanied by a few delicious starter items, which include miso soup, a small dish of cooked fish and potatoes (YUM), pickled cucumbers, and a small daikon appetizer.  Definitely a great touch as it gets you ready for the meal to come.

2 big thumbs up for Sushi Go 55!!!  Just make sure you check the hours of operation as with most Japanese restaurants they close in between lunch and dinner.  Also note that if you mention yelp for dinner you get 10% off!

    APPROVED!!!

Sushi Go 55 is located on the 3rd level of the shopping center. Don't make my mistake and assume that means the entrance is on the 3rd level of the parking structure though, because it's actually on the 4th level.

They have a great 2-layer chirashi lunch special if chirashi is your thing. i ordered a sushi + tempura lunch special and it came with 5 pieces of nigiri (tuna, albacore, salmon, shrimp, and yellowtail), shrimp and veggie tempura, miso soup, a small cooked fish and daikon appetizer, and pickled cucumbers.

The fish here is fairly fresh but sometimes it's hit or miss. Overall I'd say it's a good value, especially if you opt for the lunch specials.

Note: they don't honor their yelp check in specials, at least not the one for free dessert. They do honor the 10% off at dinner only, i believe.

I came here for the first time for dinner with some girlfriends recently. I've heard of the place, but never been and was excited to try the place out finally. The four of us ordered a sushi combo, spicy tuna roll and yellowtail collar. The sushi was OK, not mind-blowing. The yellowtail collar, on the other hand, was pretty damn good. When I was dining here, I saw a few people with their Chirashi bowl. I guess that is what they are known for? I'll definitely be back for that.

The service was fine. Our waitress wasn't too smiley, but got the job done. Since this is in the same plaza as Honda-Ya, etc., the parking situation is great which is rare for Lil Tokyo/Jtown. Don't forget to get your ticket validated!

Just went last week (that was twice in one week) and have to say this is a great go to for good sushi. Only sit at the bar. Love the freshness of fish and always order the stuffed mushrooms with crab and sprinkle of seasalt to start. Noticed it's getting busy but still mainly by Asians and that's a good thing!  Yellow tail collar is always a request and they are generous. If you want a nice casual dinner night out, I do recommend as well as, a reservation.

CHIRASHI JYU SUSHI BOX MATSU: This came in a two level bento box. Both boxes were stuffed to the rim with rice on the bottom and fish layered on top. Each bento box was about 4 inches X 4 inches and 2.5 inches deep. A lot of food. The quality of fish was awesome.

SAKE KASU MARINATED BLACK COD: Very simple presentation. Before receiving the fish, you are given an assortment of pickled veggies. When the fish actually comes out all you receive a humble piece of fish and a bowl of rice. The marinade is very similar to teriyaki but not as sweet.

I had no idea that Sushi Go 55 was located in the 333 Alameda mall.  I've been to the mall several times and never even noticed this place.  It's a complete hole in the wall but is rising in name recognition.  I heard about this place first from a co-worker who told me that it was good.  When I caught up with some friends on my recent trip to LA, I decided to suggest that we go to this restaurant and try it out for myself.

I really, really loved the sushi - I ordered the chirashi bowl and it's a very filling and colorful array of fresh sushi and I truly enjoyed that.  It comes with the usual side of miso soup and salad.  The food is so tasty and fresh.

However, the service was not very good.  Our waitress completely messed up our order and thought all three of us had ordered chirashi bowls and brought out an extra soup and salad.  When the manager found out about this, he got really mad at her and she was apologetic the whole time, but she further messed up our order and I ended up getting my food a good 20 minutes after everyone else had gotten theirs.  It was pretty annoying, but they were all apologetic and nice about it so I guess it was fine.

Overall, the service isn't wonderful, especially during a busy lunch period, but the food is fantastic and I am still going to give this place a "4."  I would definitely go again, given the chance, since the sushi is super fresh and very reasonably priced.

I was just OK with this place.  The quality of the food was good.  The price was a little on the steeper end.  I think the only good thing here is the chirashi.

I'm a huge sushi lover and I suppose this place is an alternative spot to check out if you aren't going to Sushi Gen.  But it simply pales in comparison.

I didn't think the staff was too warm and friendly as they could've been.  It could've been an off night, not sure.  But if you're looking to add more customers and loyalty, I think you should be able to go an extra (s)mile to make a good impact on new customers.  This makes the difference of wanting to return.. and I simply would not think to return here again.

The Chirashi bowl here is unforgettable. It paralleled the heavenly goodness (aka Chirashi) I used to religiously consume at Sushiden in New York. I don't know if this place is a "hidden gem" as others state, but it's a restaurant worth trying.

A "HIDDEN GEM" is an understatement to describe this sushi restaurant.

Like many food adventurer who scout all over town for good restaurants, I always find myself back here craving for good sushi.  I have come to two conclusions:
    1) Franchise restaurants = pre-food.
    2) Mom & Pop joint= homemade food

It was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. A true mom-and-pop joint serving Japanese food in Little Tokyo, Downtown Los Angeles.  If you're a starving college student like me, reward yourself to a GOOD dinner or go with parents. There's only 2 restaurants so far that scores a 5 out of 5 for the FRESH quality for the sushi and certainly SUSHI GO 55 beats most sushi places in Los Angeles.  Of course, I am always out to scouting for other good ones .  Overall,  I am very satisfy with the food & excellent service (waitress & chefs). =]

Parking: convenient, lots of indoor parking space & 2 hrs free w/ validation.
    Discount: 10% yelp.
I highly recommend the following dinner (serve w/ rice, sides & soup) good for 1-2 people:

    BROILED SALMON DINNER $13.95
salt-broiled (shioyaki) salmon or broiled salmon with dengaku miso sauce.

I wrote the beginning of a ridiculously TL;DR review only to hit the 5000 word limit.  When I figure out a good place to post it I will link it here.

    Here's the "short" version:

Fish didn't taste very good - flavors were bland (both of the rice and the fish on top) and textures indistinct and everything tended to be oversauced or oversalted.  The difference in both service and sushi selection that we received compared to the service received by a Japanese couple next to us was so starkly different that it seemed almost bordering on racism (although I don't really want to make that assumption).

Here's all of the sushi we ate, in order (all nigiri, 2 pieces of each).  All of the sushi had a tiny piece of fish on top and small ball of rice (which is not why I am rating them down, just wanted to specify that the pieces were very small on everything we ordered) :

Yellowtail -  flavorless, not much texture

Salmon - tasted almost exactly like the yellowtail.  Considering that salmon and yellowtail typically have very different flavors, I didn't find this to be a good sign.

Ikura - way too salty, no salmon flavor (or any other flavor)

Aji - not much flavor other than that of the marinade.  I like the mild fatty flavor of aji and was disappointed that it had been all but masked by the flavor of the marinade.

Tamago - texture was somewhat gummy, egg was very sweet but without much other flavor.

Tai - again mushy and flavorless - cut was a small piece without skin.  Not at all what I was expecting - was expecting fresh flavors and springy resistance

Hirame - again had some sort of acidic marinade/sauce and could barely taste the halibut.

Uni - texture was all right but had a slightly off flavor that was hard to describe (I  called it "butt-flavored" - it wasn't briny or fishy).  The off-flavor, which was more of an aftertaste, made the uni seem somewhat less-than-fresh.

Fresh Anago Shirayaki - no nuance or subtlety, texture was oddly chewy.  Other than the chewiness, was a good duplicate of grilled tilapia that you might find on a fish taco.

Unagi - I guess it was all right but must have been completely unmemorable as I do not remember it, despite this review being for last night's dinner.

Engawa - my favorite!!!! I requested this multiple times but for whatever reason the sushi chef did not hear me (or ignored me) whenever I asked for it.  When I received it it was again sauced with something that made it hard to taste the fish itself.  Finally when it did come, it was just one tiny piece instead of the two that each order is supposed to come with - the sushi chef had saved the larger piece to serve the Japanese couple who had just arrived - they hadn't ordered engawa; rather the sushi chef had recommended it to them.  My one tiny piece was disappointing and again marinated in something so that I could hardly taste the fish itself.

Kohada - was all right, tasted like kohada... somewhat fishy but good flavor.

I wanted to try the chutoro but didn't bother.

After ordering all nigiri sushi all night, our sushi chef, whose name might have been Noboru or Minoru (I'm terrible at remembering names) finally made some suggestions:  "How about a spicy tuna roll?  What about a dragonfly roll?  You want to try a firefly roll?"  I don't understand why he would suggest rolls after we had ordered not a single roll all night - he even told us that next time we should ask him for "omakase", but I have the feeling that if we did that he would serve us all of the American rolls.  Don't get me wrong, those are great too, but not what we had been seeking to eat for this meal in particular.

The suggestions he made to the Japanese couple that sat down next to us were quite different, including the engawa, hamachi belly which he specifically mentioned was flown in from Kyushu, some other darker fleshed fish that he served with a piece of marinated konbu.  After the engawa incident, I was convinced that our sushi chef had predetermined that these choice pieces were not meant for the mouths of the barbarian Americans, hence the suggestion we eat the rolls more suited to our clearly barbaric appetites.  But the differences did not end here.  Even when they ordered the same kinds of fish, his preparation was completely different (for example, he served their uni torched while ours was served raw, gunkan-style; for the fresh anago he prepared himself while ours he sent it off to the kitchen).  But what I really found jarring was the sheer difference in size of the cuts of fish he gave our neighbors - while ours were barely 3/4 inch wide, about 2 inches long, and sliced thin, theirs were somewhat more thickly cut and large enough to completely wrap around their pieces of rice.  Their cuts of the same fish were roughly 1 1/2 times, if not twice the size of the ones we received.

Bill came out to $110 after tax and 20% tip; not really sure why I paid a 20% tip as I was quite annoyed with the blatantly discriminatory service.

Alright it's not awesome as Izayoi but it's way better than my recent Fu-Ga experience (read frustrated review below).

First the parking situation is straight forward--go on the parking lot located between 3rd and 4th on Alameda, take a ticket, and park anywhere.  No stupid valet only bullsh*t, just park your car and get to the mall.

The restaurant is located on the 3rd floor, next to a large Korean BBQ joint.  Pretty easy to find and the staff was very welcoming.  There was little to no language barrier, in case you're concerned.

I ordered a hot green tea and thank Jeebus it wasn't in a damn bag.  It was honest to goodness green tea and best off it looks like I didn't get charged.

After looking at the menu I decided to go with a Nigiri Take (8 piece nigiri sushi and 6 piece cucumber roll).  The meal came with sumonomo, miso soup, and some other vegetables that were tasty.  The chef, Minoru, immediately worked on my lunch and served it quick.  Meanwhile the servers were making sure if I needed more tea.  The staff here were very pleasant!

The Nigiri Take:  overall pretty good!!  I wish it had eel instead of octopus but hey, I can't be picky with what the chef gives me.  Also, the tuna was a bit tough but it's forgivable, everything else was great.  The total cost of my meal was 12 bucks and something cents AND they validate parking!  :o)

In short I will definitely go back and try the Nigiri Matsu  (if I'm REALLY hungry) or the famous Chirashi.

While Sushi Go 55 won't surpass Izayoi, it's definitely a good substitute.

Domo arigatou gozaimasu Sushi Go 55!

Waaah? A two-layer chirashi bowl? I am in heaven. The fish was fresh, the rice warm and seasoned, and the price a reasonable $17. I didn't know this plaza behind Sushi Gen was populated with places like Manna and Beard Papa and Sushi Go 55, so I have been missing out for a while! Our table of three came a few minutes after their morning opening, so we were able to beat the lunch rush and wait only a few minutes for our delicious sushi to arrive! Those comatose after the meal can walk around the Japanese market downstairs for random Japanese goodies and merchandise to work off the sleepiness.

Sushi Go 55 is a bunch of con artists.  I got the dragon roll for 13.50, which is pretty expensive for the size that it was. The quality was great only for that roll, but the spicy tuna roll was mushy, not authentic like the dragon roll.  Now my main problem with the stick up his racist chef Jun, was that he told me the dragon roll has eel and avocado, on a CALIFORNIA ROLL. the dragon roll had a great California roll underneath, with fresh avocado and a succulent stick of crab.  so you tell me if I'm being too harsh, because for my third roll, I didn't want anything too expensive or small, so I thought I would play it safe and order a plain California roll, with the expectation it was going to be exactly like the California roll explained to me for the dragon roll. load and behold, my California roll didn't even have real crab.. or even imitation crab at that.  it was 6 tiny rolls with what looked like white mush and a cucumber stick .. for $7.50.... I'm never going back to these liars, I wasn't full or satisfied and my bill was still $39, and they expected tips... you kidding me? By the way, the reason I call the chef a racist is because he did nothing to make me and my friend feel welcomed, yet every Japanese person who came throusakegh was greeted with sake and free sashimi platter.

The only thing to take away from that experience was that one of the waitresses were hot.

not an acceptable alternative to the holy grail of sushi (on 2nd/Central, stripmall) but they aren't open on sundays.

so I was led here.  plenty of empty seats at the bar, attentive chef, but the quality just wasn't impressive.  even the $15 (2pc) Toro was odd and chewy.

I hear this place is known for chirashi at lunchtime; maybe that is killer, but dinnertime traditional nigiri isn't.

Is it bad to be picky about raw food?  Especially raw seafood??

    Yay:
-Came here a few minutes before opening and got seated right away.
-Sweet Shrimp: I love fried shrimp heads.
-Validation: they validate for your parking so that you don't have to pay.

    Nay:
-Rainbow Roll: It tasted weird to me.
-Got ignored a few times when I asked for a straw for my drink and when we were trying to get the bill.

I also got the salmon and tuna sushi and shrimp tempura roll.  They weren't that great to me either.  Overall, I don't think I'd come back here.

This place is truly a hidden gem, mostly because its located on the top floor of a ghetto mall. I kid you not! There is a myriad of empty stores and some that I assume close early in the day. When I got here for an early dinner (~6:30pm) the mall was pretty much deserted. Even in the restaurant I was the LONE diner for the entire meal!

Ambiance aside, the sushi here is very good. The menu is very limited, as is the "specials" board on the wall. If you are a roll aficionado, this is not the place for you.

What really took me by surprise was the cost of the items on the menu and even though they offer a 10% yelp discount and I had a coupon for 10% with me anyway: the meal was expensive.

I had a rainbow roll ($14), 3 hand rolls (spicy tuna, which was good) (two spicy scallop, which were excellent) and one order of wild salmon sushi ($5).
I'm not sure what the hand rolls added up to being, but with green iced tea (skip it, its horrible here) and tax the bill came to $46.

This place is very good, but the location and prices cause me to adjust the rating down 1 star.

i was jonesing for sushi this past friday and decided to give this place a try after a friend recommended it. i was able to get reservations for 3 at 730 and i called about 2 hours before so i was pretty happy about that.

i went with two friends and one of them doesn't each sushi so he ordered chicken teriyaki. between my gf and i, we ordered edamame, sushi matsu, seaweed salad, spicy tuna roll, yellow green onion roll, ankimo, and the tempura eggplant with ground chicken. we may be little but we know how to eat! the sashimi was fresh and tasty but i definitely did not like the tuna but that's just a personal preference. the ankimo was pretty yummy and the tempura eggplant appetizer was delish!

i still prefer ohshima but this cured my sashimi craving! i would come back if i was in the area but there's so many other yummy places to eat nearby: hondaya and shojin.

we brought our own bottle of wine and they charged us a $15 cork fee. not bad.

I love Yelp for multiple reasons...one being that as you mention it, you get 10% off your total bill...that's simple enough.  While this is probably a 3.5 star review, I'll bump it up because they like Yelpers =)
Ordered their chirashi bowl ($17) which they claim is the "best in LA."  While you can upgrade your chirashi to include uni and ikura (those orange-ish spheres) for an additional $7, I can't say that I'm a huge fan of uni.  Likewise, if I'm going to eat uni, it better be damn fresh.  I can't say Sushi Go 55 has the freshest sashimi in town; I really don't know any restaurant in a mall that I would consider the best in town.  However, the prices are reasonable, I've never had to wait for a table, and the service is always solid.

Let's address the green elephant in the room: this joint serves fish from Japan, but it's not radioactive.

More and more, I've run into people extremely concerned about the safety of eating sushi in light of recent events.  Reasonable enough at face value, but most of their concerns are come more from blind fear than actual research.

It goes without saying that the FDA is doing a lot to make sure food from the affected area doesn't get here.

[For a quick primer on what the FDA is doing: http://www.fda.gov/new...]

Unfortunately, ignorance goes both ways.  When I called various sushi places in Little Tokyo, few could tell me where there fish could come from with certainty, let alone that they were FDA-approved.

Sushi Go 55 knew their shit, and that shit was good news.

Okay, nitty-gritty: I had the omakase and while I didn't have the best time interacting with the chef, he undoubtedly knew his craft.

Amazingly, the standout for me - from a price and taste standpoint - was the salmon.  Thick and buttery, it was a great way to start the course.  I'm not gonna pretend I remember every single piece I had that day - it was a lot - but I do recall the Ikura being particularly good, and that's coming from someone who doesn't really fancy eggs.

Lastly, don't forget to mention Yelp before getting the bill - 10% is a hefty discount!

I'm writing back to Sushi Go 55, as I have tried to convince myself that the last few times I have gone back were flukes... But alas, I have finally come to grips with myself and will have to admit that this relationship is now fruitless. When you get your freshness back, please give me a call.. Otherwise, I will have to make that 2 hr drive down to OTA in SD to get that freshness which once attracted me to you.... sigh

    Seriously, the BEST Chirashi around!

And... I know my Chirashi!  Every Japanese sushi restaurant I go to I order it to compare and they pale in comparison.

    A must order!

All of their sushi, sashimi, teriyaki and tempura is VERY good!

My Mother and all her friends come and dine here. Everyone knows it is hard to please Issei peeps!

The owners are definitely Japanese.  A must when I dine at a Japanese restaurant!

Miso soup and all the side dishes are a perfect compliment to the meals they accompany.  It is not always like this at a restaurant.  Believe me!

    Sushi and entrees 5 Stars

    Decor 5 Stars

    Service 5 Stars

Even calculating with old math, it equals 5 STARS!

Oh ignore my last review. I went back after a few years, have been trying other places in the mean time and eek... it is so not how I remember it. My sister and I used to love this place but now maybe the prices went up? The quality went down? Something is off. I've been going to Noshi Sushi too much lately -- much cheaper and much better quality so when I compare the two, Noshi clearly wins.

We ordered soft shell crab for $10 (so teeny tiny, are they maybe out of season?), live sweet shrimp, red snapper, salmon, halibut, tuna, albacore, abalone, sea eel, and kohada but they ran out of the kohada before we could try it. The red snapper was our favorite but probably just due to the use of yuzu pepper. The pieces were tiny too, I don't know if I've just gotten bigger since my last review, or if they actually are smaller than the last time I came here. We were also so disappointed and our bill was like $80. This used to be the place I would come for cheap decent sushi... I would rather spend $40 at Sushi Ike and $20 for the same amount of food at Noshi. Sorry Sushi Go 55, don't be mad at me, I'm just moving on.

    3.5 Stars!

My girlfriend and I initially had plans to go to Little Tokyo's Honda-ya, but seeing how Sushi Go 55 and Honda-ya are not only neighbors, they both open at 5:30 p.m.
We debated for which one to go into, but we were lured in by 55's happy hour specials posted outside.

    Good:
    - Fresh, beautifully sliced fish. I was so happy with the quality!
    - Spicy tuna roll had chunks of tuna, rather than the butchered and slathered tuna with sesame oil & sriracha.

    Meh:
    - Service was pretty dang slow
    - Our uni shot had way too much ponzu sauce. I was just thinking the whole time, "I feel like I'm drinking ponzu sauce out of a shot glass (with a tiny bit of uni on the bottom)" .. Ohh wait.

So DO come for sushi, sashimi, omakase.
Skip the happy hour, do not be a cheap-o (like ahem)

Side story: (on our way out of Sushi Go 55)
Cute little grandpa: Do you have your validation ticket?
    Me: *here*
    Cute little grandpa: Thank you!!!
Cute little grandpa: (comes back) Oh... I think the validation ticket is o-ren-gie? Not blue?
    Me: Oh sorry *here*
Cute little grandpa: Hehehe Thank you!!!

I would come back just for him ^__________________^

I usually go to Omasa in the Japanese village but a friend was raving about this little hidden gem.
Its located in a shopping center which to me i feel its already an inconvenience.
Fish was ok fresh but nothing to write home about.  Service is a little on the slow side.  But really the location just sucks.

I love sushi, so I was glad to find another good option out here in LA.  The 5 of us ordered a couple of sashimi platters, 2 rolls, oyster and uni shooters, and a couple of other appetizers.

The sashimi platters were fresh, rolls a good portion and shooters very good as well.  Good option in Little Tokyo

Best lunch prices for the quality of the fish. I've been coming here for a few years and I think it's the best sushi restaurant to go to for lunch. My bf usually get the sashimi platter for $16 and it's a good potion with good thickness. He's the type that needs rice with his meals and it takes him about 2-3 bowls of rice to finish off the sashimi. I try not to stuff myself, so I'll either get the nigiri take or matsu (depending how hungry I am)  because the rice is portion out for me. If you're into the really light meals, they have a sushi sampler: 5 nigiris and one roll. I had it once and was still a bit hungry. Oh yeah, I see no point in getting the economy special, which is a smaller size of the sashimi platter, but I think it's more of the ends and scrap (not that good).

Service is good. I never really had a problem.

Also, I think Sushi Go 55 has the best wasabi among the locals.

There is so much variety in Omakase course. We started with clear soup with sweet shrimp, halibut, Uni, and  then, Tuna, Albacore, Avocado Tartar with crispy fried lotus roots chips. Both 5 stars!

Next, we had a couple of cooked dish which were all delicious! I especially liked Shrimp and Snow crab Tempura.

My husband and I were shocked and surprised when we tasted the Wild Salmon and Mango sushi.
Our Omakase also included Uni, Aji, Blue Fin Tuna, Toro(My favorite Toro melts in my mouth.), Snapper garnished with Yuzu Kosho, Seared Scallop, and so on. (We forgot what else Chef Yama made for us but we remember everything was great!) Chef Yama's creativity is one of a kind.

We like to come here for lunch to have their favorite Chirashi, but  we strongly recommend to fully rely on your chef and order Omakase at dinner time if you truly want to relish the masterpieces of Sushi. Chefs know what's the best! Omakase is the way to go.

We will definitely come back for Omakase dinner again!

I found this gem on Yelp and it definitely lived up to its ratings.  After driving for six hours, Sushi Go 55 was a nice and peaceful repose to recharge for a wedding we were attending the same evening. The humility of the place, servers, and owner was amazing to observe.

I loved everything!  The Miso soup, the veggie tempura, as well as the attentive service.  I also like how a lot of peeps assume that Asians (or maybe it's just Indian peeps) don't take ice in their water, for the most part. The place is a lil hard to find as it's tucked in a lil mall corner on the second floor, but definitely persist and ask questions to get to it.  Totally worth it!  Thank you for a re-energizing experience. :)

Drove by the tower here several times. Turns out there are several restaurants as well as dessert shops and a stores here. Tried it based on several Yelp reviews. Glad we did.

Sashimi Take He was very nice. Smaller dinner portion was plenty. (Salmon, hamachi. Albacore, Maguro,  and Striped bass.) Comes with rice, sunomono, miso soup etc. A good deal for a good-sized, fresh meal.

Also enjoyed the Black Cod dinner.  Loved the custard w seafood bits within that accompanies it ---- though it would have been nicer had it arrived at the same time as the Black Cod itself.

Hearty pour for House saki -- which may not be the world's best, but it was dry and cold and hit the spot. White wine received no complaints.

    Grilled eggplant app very good.

    FOOD: 4 STARS
They give you a pretty good amount of food and all the times I've been here the quality of the sushi has been good.

    AMBIANCE: 3 STARS
    Clean. Nothing special.

    SERVICE: 4 STARS
It's not personalized service, but it's service that doesn't leave my water glass empty. The kind of service where everyone is your server. I've had the same server every time I've come and although her English is not the best, she is very kind.

    PRICE: 4 STARS
Good price for the amount and quality.

    Tourist's take:

Got here before the din-din rush so got seated quickly
Warm green tea soothed dry throat (just flew in)

Miso with hot green tea - I'm healed -_-
I appreciate the good amount of tofu for this small bowl-o-soup

I can munch on their spicy tuna cut roll all day
Tuna melted in me mouth not too spicy though
Cali cut rolls were very refreshing
The avocados here are super duper fresh
I wish we ordered more octopus but we ordered too much grub

Squid's perfect - not rubbery nor over cooked plus no stinky
Sauce paired well with squid (don't know the sauce but mmm)
We blasted through that in seconds!

Eggplant stuffed with ground chicken tempura style was heat-hot
Wished it cooled down faster than I was devouring it
Had to order something deep fried
'Tis a simple yummy dish - dip in given salt and enjoy

    They validate parking
I think any shop will validate in little tokyo gallery if you buy things

Note: when they're busy and you're done with food but you chat they will ask you VERY politely and apologetically to leave (saw a huge group just talking away while many were waiting to be seated).
