Susan recently did a family/maternity session for us and I couldn't be happier with the result. We ended up doing 2 separate sessions, both in and around our house in Long Beach. We really wanted to incorporate our dogs into the photos, and Susan was great about that. Our dogs really liked her, and so did we. She was very easy to work with, flexible and creative. She works FAST which is awesome, especially when dealing with dogs and husbands who have limited attention spans, not to mention pregnant selves who have a limited amount of energy and patience. Our edited photos were done in around 2 weeks and I couldn't be happier with them.
I particularly liked Susan's style because I feel like it's got a gritty, urban, prettiness..like, she can make graffiti in the LA river bed look artistic and beautiful. Anybody can look peaceful on the beach or at some hay field in costa mesa...but I'll take the photographer than can make me fall in love with the unlikely location. -

Susan photographed our engagement pictures and our wedding pictures. Hands down, she was the perfect person to capture our moments!
When we first met Susan, she expressed genuine interest in getting to know us as a couple. For example, my husband and I like to play all sorts of games-board games, card games, etc. A few weeks later, she remembered those fun facts and picked the perfect venue for our engagement photos: Santa Monica Pier where she challenged my husband and I to compete against each other at air hockey, whack-a-mole, skee ball and all sorts of games! We also had some great shots around the pier taking in the scenery. I had so much fun that day and so did my husband!
Susan and I stayed in touch as the wedding day drew nearer. She is very responsive (text message, email, phone call) and it was great to brainstorm the schedule, photo list and share other great ideas. She even met me at the venue to review the plan and some areas that we would take photos at. It was a huge relief to be on the same page ahead of time.
As I write this, my husband and I are reviewing her pictures of our wedding--they are beautiful! I can't take my eyes off of them as I see the day really unfolding. All the guests and the details that I didn't get to enjoy as much as I was being the bride - Susan captured them. Susan shoots with wide-angled lenses, so we get to see all that went into each moment. She was patient and friendly, working with our wedding vendors and guests to ensure she got the right pictures.
Susan also has a "shoot from the hip" approach to spontaneous situations, so rather than missing the shot, she quickly snaps a shot from her hip. Looking at our pictures, we can tell you that you wouldn't want to mess with her in a western-style duel at high noon.
If you're looking to hire a photographer, we highly recommend you sit down and meet with Susan. She's friendly, cool and takes amazing photographs that really capture the moment! -

All I can say is I am so glad I saw her web site a few months before the wedding. Me and Jill had Susan Sabo do our engagement photo, day of the wedding photo and day after wedding photo and we got more than what we paid for. She is as professional as anyone in her field but what I like about her the most is that she understands you and she will work with you. The price is also great I believe I paid her half of what other photographers was asking. I would definitely give her a call again.

Let me begin by stating I am a Photographer as well. A picky, demanding, well aware of all the behind the scenes jazz Photographer.
When we were planning our wedding only one aspect was predetermined and that was the fact that Susan Sabo would be shooting it. I have "known" Susan for years over the internet, followed her work, chatted with her and fallen in love with not only her expertise and style but her personality as a whole.
We were married at night in Vegas on the busiest, most hectic day of 2010, October 10th. Plans changed, taxis failed to show up, large groups were in constant motion from one location to another. The entire time Susan was cool, collected, professional and shooting. I was clear in the fact I didn't want to pose for a single shot, I wanted it to be fun and organic and non-obtrusive. It was all that and more.
When I was hyper speed bride talking after getting my hair done, nervous jitters all the way, Susan was there to take me away from the action for a moment to calm down. When the Chapel was difficult to work with and attempting to keep us from shooting, Susan was there to straighten things out and add some much needed levity (gold suit, uggs). When I wanted to get some quick shots with my new husband and it was after ceremony chaos, Susan was there camera in hand. Susan was present, aware of everything and a basic joy to have at my wedding.
My two location trash the dress might have been my favorite part of the whole trip (aside from marrying my best friend). First the outskirts of Vegas for some post apocalyptic, trash ladened, graffiti marked fun. Then onto the hotel pool for an amazing albeit chilly underwater shoot. The images are like something out of a high end magazine. Something I never would have imagined doing, something I will adore for all time.
The woman is passionate about photography and meeting her clients' needs and expectations. She is phenomenal. How do you say more than that?
I'm thinking of getting remarried every year in a new city just so I can have another slue of breath taking images to obsess over. The results were exactly what I hoped for and couldn't imagine how they could be improved.
Thank you Susan Sabo Photography for being there and capturing this moment for us with skill, creativity, humor and love.
ps- Opt for the film add-on you will not regret it. -

This last month the portrait that Susan shot for me was printed alongside an article that I co-authored with a colleague and everyone who spotted it raved about... the portrait.
Just the portrait. They went on and on and on about the portrait.
Not a word about the article.
So thanks, Susan. Tons.
But seriously: I owe you Sabo, for making me look so good. -

Susan was amazing! She did our engagement and wedding photos. Her prices were super reasonable and unheard of for her quality. She has a very warm and relaxed personality while maintaining a highly professional attitude. She always responded quickly to my emails and was open to our ideas. We loved Susan!

The bottom line is that Susan Sabo is fantastic. Very easy to work with, great results in a short time and all for a fair price.
To give the back story, my husband and I got married on the other side of the country and wanted to throw a little get-together in our home city for the friends and family who couldn't make the long-distance trek. It was a pretty informal gathering, just lunch, though I did get to wear my dress again.
Susan was there early and ready to go, (readier for us than the staff or servers at the venue, but that's another story). She took her time to scout out the spot and then seemed to fade into the background for the rest of the event (unless I needed her, of course, at which moments she was right there). When I got to see the online proofs mere days later (note: I still haven't gotten an online gallery from our WEDDING photographer and that was two months ago), they were great! I forwarded the link to my parents and some other friends who were there and they all loved them as well.
I would highly recommend Susan for her work, both during the event and the lasting memories she produces. -

After spending an hour clicking away on craigslist, page after page, I was beginning to lose hope on finding the perfect photographer for my wedding day. (I had only a month to plan it!)
All the pictures from all the other photographers looked EXACTLY the same: fluffy, fuzzy with some soft blurring.
Knowing myself and my husband, we would both didn't like that style. We wanted something fresh, simple and pure.
That's when I saw Susan's ad on craigslist.
I immediately sat up from my slumped position in front of my laptop and immediately fell in love with the Courthouse wedding pictures. I furiously clicked around to find her website and fell in love with her overall style! (It also helped that she loves dogs!)
So, I showed her website to my husband and he and I both agreed that we wanted to contact Susan.
After initial e-mail contact, Susan, my husband and I met up at a near-by eatery and chit-chatted over dinner. She was easy going, fun and professional!
Susan really dedicates herself to her commitments and she is a true joy to work with. Everything was a smooth and easy and most of all, she really made it easy for us to fit her into our budget. (To be honest, we weren't sure if we were going to be able to afford a wedding photographer because of our limited budget.)
She is also very good about replying and answering all questions I had and her turn-around time for getting the pictures back is just beyond what I expected! (IT WAS FAST!!!)
If you're like me and like simple, fresh and artistic pictures, go with Susan. She is truly amazing in everything she does. :)Listed in: Nuptial Bliss

Where to begin... If only I could give ten stars... I can't even begin to explain how much of a drag it is to try and find a photographer with an artistic eye, that doesn't include "BLUR" or "PROM." Let alone a style that expresses the people we are. (I was beginning to think I was being too picky.) Who wants wedding or engagement photos that look like everyone else's? As soon as I found Susan's website, it was like a weight had been lifted. I can't even remember how I found her... I had looked at so many photography websites I was blue in the face.
What is different about Susan is that she truly expresses herself in the photos she takes. This is her form of art, and she is damn good at it. She is passionate about her photography, and she is a doll to work with. It is hard for me to write a review when I can't find the words to express how amazing the photos were. They left us (and our friends!) awestruck. We looked tight. Legit. Too legit to quit.
And who doesn't love someone that luuurrrves dogs as much as she does? Shoot. -

Susan Sabo and her photography can be summed up in a few words/phrases; innovative, personable and out of the box.
We had the pleasure of meeting with Susan early on in our engagement picture planning process. From the first meeting she has this upbeat attitude filled with charisma & an excitement for pictures that are not run of the mill. She has novel ideas and uses locations & visual cues that evoke greater emotions than the standard hand in hand looking into the future crap that is so prevalent in so many engagement/wedding photos these days. If you are looking for a photog to take these types of pictures, look elsewhere... now.
While she is not overbearing in any sense of the word, she knows what will work and is able to pull off those shots with very little direction. This woman is a professional in every sense of the word. When she needs a laugh she will evoke it from the couple. She is good at her craft and you would be at a loss to not use her and the many talents she possesses.
A photographer of her caliber could easily charge much more than she does, but she follows her simple motto; fresh, simple and pure. In this day and age of money grubbing companies who will take you for all you're worth because the word wedding is attached to something, Susan offers her impeccable services for a nominal fee and produces results in a very short time. We are forever grateful to have these professional pictures that did not require us to take out a 2nd mortgage to afford.
Bottom line; if you are looking for some pictures that will exude emotion and creativity, look no further. Susan Sabo is your choice. If you are looking for the same run of the mill poised prom pictures for your wedding or special day, please do yourself (and Susan) a favor and look elsewhere. She is not that kind of photographer and you will both be happier having never met.
We cannot recommend Susan enough. Thank you for the special moments you created. -

I'm not really a person who leaves comments on things.
(And our wedding was a while ago)
But I just wanted to write how great Susan was.
I hired her to take our wedding & "trash the dress" photos, and oh my, what a wonderful experience!!!
She was super easy and FUN to work with, and at an amazing price!!!
She came up with great ideas.
All of my bridesmaids fell in love with her as well (which probably is the best compliment I can give anyone).
I really didn't feel her presence during the ceremony (which is great for a photographer) so I didn't feel nervous (I'm camera shy), but the photos were FANTASTIC!!!
Not too many 'posed' pics (but of course if you ask her, she'll take them for you), so many beautiful candid photos that I REALLY love.
I'd recommend hiring her for any event!!!
(Sorry Susan, for taking this long to write a review...
We really really love the photos and my family and friends still talk about how great you were and how beautiful the photos are) -

Short on time right now, but wanted to get this done. 6 months ago I contacted Susan to have 6 month photos taken of my son, plus some family shots. She was awesome! She suggested a beautiful location since we wanted some beach shots. They turned out beautifully, and we have received so many compliments on them. She is a very down to earth person, and I love how she wanted to capture us, not do all the posed shots. Bottom line: fantastic photographer, affordable prices, great quality! I'm hoping to get some shots of my pets as soon as finances allow. I love how she does volunteer photog work at the shelter...a woman after my own heart!

It's hard to know where to begin. Susan did an absolutely amazing job shooting our wedding. All of the pictures were taken with a very artistic eye and I gratefully say none of them look like standard cheesy wedding pic fare. Aside from doing the wedding party posed shots (which again were totally unconventional!), I don't think I recall noticing her presence at any point except for when she had all the kids surround me and blow bubbles which was total magic!
She also shot my engagement photos, there had to be hundreds of them. I had the c.d at a party I went to where some friends wanted to see them. Once we started showing them the audience was captivated, even people that didn't know us and I think that is because what she creates is really captivating, sometimes silly and totally amazing art.
She is great to work with and there aren't enough stars to rate her work! -

My search for an artistic, talented, trustworthy, and fairly priced photographer ended with Susan, and I feel so lucky to have found her. She definitely has an eye. She's professional, classy, kind, and totally cool...
My wedding pictures are amazing. Every shot is unique and special. Everyone on the other side of Susan's lens felt at ease with her, and her pictures reflect that. I'm so grateful to have such awesome shots of a day that is now a very special memory. -

I was slow to find a wedding photographer because most of them produce pictures that make my skin crawl (soft focus, blank eyes, you know the usual style). We had planned a small, very personal, slightly off-beat wedding. We wanted pictures to match the rest of the occasion, and above all to have a good party rather than to spend a lot of time posing. I'd nearly given up on a photographer altogether when a friend referred me to Susan with the promise that she was a real person AND a great photographer. All this is true and more. Susan offered reasonable, indeed generous, terms. She was laid back yet professional, and a pleasure to work with. The whole process was painless and we got GREAT pictures in which we look nice and real simultaneously. And she and Mr Susan were fun to have at the wedding!

Susan is the best! She helped out with an auction for our non-profit animal rescue organization. She donated 2 amazing prints from her shelter animal series, and they were in hot demand at the auction! Susan's style is so unique, and really captures the feeling and moment. Thank you, Susan!
