Over a period of about a year I slowly developed sharp pains that would last several days in both of my knees from playing soccer. It was like shinsplints but in my joints. I saw a traditional doctor who gave me several exercises to try and recommended I take Ibuprofen. While this helped slightly it did not relieve my symptoms and I got to the point where I was unable to continue playing.
I had previously met Sung who just opened this clinic, while playing soccer, and he was kind enough to provide me with several treatments. Sung has a easy and kind personality, which made me feel very comfortable. I had never had acupuncture before, and was slightly uneasy as to what to expect. He patiently explained what to expect, the philosophy behind acupuncture, what it would feel like, and how I could expect a treatment to help my problem.
The treatments all went very smoothly, he was able to place the needles quickly and in a deliberate manner, I barely even noticed they were there. His bedside manner was quiet and soothing which helped me relax and open up to the treatment. I actually fell asleep on my 2nd treatment, which he assured me was natural and helpful!
As a result in the treatment the pain I experienced was greatly decreased and the range of pain free motion I had in my knees increased with each treatment. It did not cure me completely but was very effective at reducing the inflammation and pain I had been experience in my joints.
I strongly recommend Sung's clinic, Sequoyah Acupuncture. -

I recently began acupunture and herbal medicine treatments with Sung Kim, Licensed Acupuncturist, at his new Sequoyah Acupuncture Clinic in Oakland. Sung did a thorough intake, reviewing my medical history, current health issues, eating habits, life stressors, etc. I was impressed by his bedside manner: his easy pace and his kind attention.
I received immediate relief from some of my back and neck pain related to a recent car accident. Even as I lay on the table, I could notice a shift in the range of motion of my neck.
Sung's approach to needling is gentle, so that you barely detect when the needle is placed. This helped me stay relaxed, so I could benefit most from our session.
Overall, I give Sung and his clinic 5 stars. Sung is a real find, the kind of caretaker you want taking care of you. -

Today was my first visit to Sequoyah Acupuncture Clinic & my first experience with acupuncture. I was nervous & anxious to say the least. I recently was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy and a co-worker recommened I see Susan. When I called for an appointment, she was very pleasant on the phone & took me in the next day! When I arrived, Susan greeted me warmly and proceeded to explain exactly what was going to happen during our 1st session. Her gentle manner made me relax & feel at ease. She explained everything to me in a manner that I understood. I am more optismistic that acupuncture will help accelerate my healing process for Bell's as well as help regain my overall health. I look forward to my next visit & will highly recommend it!

This place is great! I am recovering from a knee injury and my treatments from Sung have been such a big part of my recovery. He and his partner, Susan, are super knowledgeable and nice. For each appointment, we talk about how I'm feeling and he really tailors each treatment to where I am in my recovery. Also, as an athlete, it is great to be treated by someone who understands my level of activity and future needs. Thanks Sung!

I was new to acupuncture but Sung made it very accessible to me and relevant to my issues. While not fully understanding how it works I do know it does work. Sung's expertise has been key to the positive experiences I continue to have with the practice. I highly recommend Sequoyah Acupuncture!

I have been a patient of Sung for a few months now. I have enjoyed the benefits from his work. He is very professional and really has taken his time to look at the whole picture when it comes to my overall health and my concerns. The office is very clean and professional. I have recommended Sequoyah Acupuncture to many of my friends. My experience has been great. I have gone to other acupuncturists and have had no success. I have noticed immediate positive results from the treatments I have received with Sung. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for results with health issues even if the medical industry is unable to help.
