I like the Upper East Side, you can feel the money as if it is in the tap water. The streets are clean and safe and the park is right outside your door. I would live in this neighborhood but I don't have the $500,000 a year job to pull that off.
The Surrey Suite Hotel allows me to pretend that I live here with the rich and famous of this neighborhood. One piece of advice on the Surrey Suite Hotel. Don't take a room on the second floor, I was awoken on a cold Sunday morning by music from the kitchen. Otherwise this is a nice find in a great area.

Fabulous Upper East Side hotel, and we got a great deal on Expedia. When we entered our room, the air was set to 60 degrees, which meant the room was refreshingly cool and we could turn off the noisy machine for several hours before it started to warm up again. The staff was helpful, though the concierge directed me to a dinky salon when I was looking for a more extravagant place to suit the fact that I was on vacation. We will certainly be staying here again.
