There is nothing quite so awesome for a serious skier as having your foot locked in to a boot with a custom molded liner and a custom orthotic, but with no pain or pressure points.  For the first time in years, when I put my boots on, I just leave all the buckles at their loosest settings, and let the liner and footbed do all the work.

Surefoot is a small national chain (located mostly in ski resorts) which has carved out a niche for itself in custom ski-boot fitting.  Although there is a lot of whiz-bang in their process (ooh, look at the computer screen!  Is that my foot?  trippy!), the result is no different from any other good custom boot fitter. What makes Surefoot special is that they have standardized the process so that you can get pretty much the same fitting no matter who helps at any of the 20 or so stores you go to.

The downside of Surefoot is the opposite of the upside - if you want truly expert help for a unique foot problem, you will not necessarily get it at Surefoot.   However if, like me, you were just tired of being on the treadmill of sloppy fit, then cranking the buckles, then painful fit, then loosening the buckles, then sloppy fit, etc. etc.  Surefoot is a good choice.

So why did I go to Surefoot when any other good boot fitter could do the same for me? Mostly because they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee, and they have locations in most major resorts.  I am in Breckenridge right now and even though I bought my boots at Squaw, if I am having trouble, there is a Surefoot store a few blocks from me where they will adjust my boots with a smile.  That's worth a lot to me.

This place is awesome...I went there with a little anticapation as I do not like getting new boots...Its like the devil I know is better than the devil I don't know. My wife bought me a 500 dollar gift cert. for the place because she got tired of my complaining about the boots I had. I have really big heels and bouts with Gout and also Planter Faciatious. I also have a half size diffrence between my left and right foot. (Anyway I know boot fit) And these guys do it right and I never had any problems at all. I could sleep in my boots. I will get the rest of my family boots there this year.
