I prefer this one over the Santa Monica store due to parking and the Grove one due to it's craziness.

Ok so this store is for hard to find cooking items, and also for people who like to waste money. My fiancé and I went in here so he could find a boning knife for his boss's birthday (they are both chefs, and share the same birthday). He wasn't happy with the selection or prices, but found one anyway. While he was doing that I happily sampled the olive oil and balsamic vinegar station, eating lots of the bread cubes. I love free samples, and hey, I was hungry. Just the stuff in here is way overpriced. We ran into a lady that was going to make sushi for her husband and needed all of the sushi equipment. I wanted to tell her to leave the store and go to a Japanese market. They do have a great selection of stuff, just it is so overpriced. If you are looking for some odd utensil or appliance, you are better off saving a few bucks, and going to a wholesale chef store.
This is not just another high end cooking store mainly because of the huge selection available.
I mean where can you go and get 60 different types of La Creuset or 25 different Wustoff knives?
You need an ice cream maker? They have several types of these.
How about professional pastry chef tools such as drawers full of icing tips of all shapes?
Panini presses, All Clad, pizza boards and more.
If only I had more room in my cupboards....and $$$.
This place rocks. Now, if only I cooked, this gourmet chef's delight would be a kitchen away from the kitchen.
Stocked with anything (I would imagine) one could want to prepare, cook, bake, and serve a seven course meal.
Gadgets galore and the largest Margarita machine I have seen.
If, one day, I start to cook, this is a definite one-stop shop to fill my kitchen with everything it's begging for.
I love Sur la Table and their fancy crockery. The sell Jimmy Choo like pots and Vuitton like small appliances. The cook book selection is lovely and their Chilewich selection is very respectable. I am a kitchen fanatic and someone who prefers Le Creuset over diamonds. If only you could take cooking classes here...then it would be absolute perfection.
