This place is gorgeous, and is what the Pacific Northwest SHOULD feel like. The hotel is expertly designed to celebrate Northwest and Coastal Native American cultures without being disrespectful, chintzy, or treating such cultures as novelties. I really respect the work that went into the design of the place, from every room and the unique artwork in them, to the amazing lobby, which is designed to look and feel like a traditional longhouse.

There is no luxury lost, however, in celebrating indigenous cultures. The bedding in the rooms is ridiculously comfortable. There are big ol' flat screens with FULL local cable (not that news-outlet-heavy hotel cable lineup you find at chains), and an honor bar so tempting that $6 for some chips almost seems justifiable.

The grounds are also impeccable. And the lawn in back that overlooks Agate Pass is a gorgeous setting for a wedding, a special occasion, or a concert (which they do every summer).

If you want a staycation that feels like you are at least several counties away from here, go to Suquamish and stay at the resort.  The cheap drinks at the casino will make it feel far away from Seattle, and while you are there book a service--any service--at Angeline Spa to make the faraway sensation complete!

I love this place, and I am coming back whenever I need a nearby escape!

Second stay was disappointing.  The room itself was fine.  Large comfy room with super comfy bed.  It really is a nice hotel.

However.......

Checked in just after 9 PM.  Looked through the in-room info and found that the steakhouse and the buffet in the Casino close at 10 PM.  Run over there and the steakhouse informs me that they closed at 9 PM.  Run to the buffet, and they say the same thing.  ARG!!

Come back to the run and the in-room info says room service ends at 10 PM.  It's about 9:30 PM so I give them a call.  The phone rings, rings, rings...........no answer.  Call the front desk and am informed room service stops at 9 PM.  ARG!!  ARG!!!

It'd be nice if they tell you want dining options are available as you check in.  It'd be even nicer if the in-room info was up-to-date.

Going to bed hungry sucks big time!

The website doesn't do this place justice.  It's an exquisitely decorated gem that immerses guests in Pacific Northwest culture and hospitality.  It's not your typical touristy casino resort and definitely the anti-Vegas.

Sitting on the tip of Kitsap peninsula, the easiest way to reach the resort is via the ferry to Bainbridge Island from Seattle.  It takes 35 minutes, costs about $7/person (fare charged one way only), and is completely smooth sailing.  A hotel shuttle meets every ferry and takes 15-20 minutes.

Situated well behind the Casino, the 85-room resort is crafted from local materials and filled with art and photos capturing the traditions of the Suquamish tribe.  Most rooms have lake views and all have doors that open to catch the Puget Sound breezes. That is, if you can tear yourself away from the cozy pillow-topped down comforter beds...they're even cushier than the highly touted W-Hotel ones (where we'd just spent 5 nights).

I didn't have time to check out the Spa, but the treatments were reasonably priced and sounded luxurious.  The pool is unusual and cozy--slate and rock tiles and lots of lounge chairs under a glass roof.  Even when the weather's crappy, you'll feel toasty and relaxed.  The outdoor hot tub is small, but powerful and usually not crowded.  My favorite outdoor spot was the fire pit--it's cranked up every night at sundown, weather permitting.

Another unexpected communal activity was the daily breakfast, included in all room rates.  Called 'The Longhouse Buffet', it's a generous spread of hot and cold dishes.  Numerous seating options include long tables and well as small nooks--all overlooking the water.  The business center is in a separate building that overlooks the water.  It's filled with books left behind by other travelers and is the perfect place to while away an afternoon or two.

Ah, the water...during low tide, you can walk down on the rocky beach and contemplate the unique  mixture of stones and shells. My favorite find was a heart-shaped rock.  That pretty much sums up my feelings for this peaceful paradise.

I had my parents stay at the Casino when they came to visit as it is the closest hotel to my house. My parents have gone to casinos for entertainment in the past so I thought they might enjoy have it as an option. I was sold on the low prices and beautiful room pictures on the website.

My mom and dad went up to the front desk to check in and were behind two disoriented local gamblers looking to sleep off their inebriation and to stay a few more days on a whim (no prior booking). The hotel staff immediately gave them a room overlooking the water for about the price we had paid. My mom stepped up and gave them her info and they gave her a "garden" room, facing the ugly ass-end of the casino in front of the hotel. She had specifically requested a water view when she booked her stay at least a month prior. The staff said they were only able to give her a water-view room for one night, then she and my dad would have to move to a back room. After over a half hour of useless negotiation with the staff, my mom threatened to cancel her reservation and demanded a full refund. The hotel staff finally gave in and decided they did have a room with a water view open for the next three nights.

Other than that, the room was great, the beds nice, the fought-for view beautiful....but the bad taste remains. I don't think that the reasonable price was worth the haggling required to get what my mom asked for upfront and was told she would receive. We'll stay somewhere else next time.

The hotel is amazing the beds are fluffy (literally like sleeping on a cloud for sure) and the rooms are just absolutely gorgeous.... the views from the rooms are peaceful and serene I love it here and will visit often it was definately an OASIS away from the city.

The casino is fun and the machines are plentiful!  Take someone special here for a romantic getaway... they will enjoy it and even if you don't gamble there are many other things to do!

The Resort that is behind the Suquamish Clearwater Casino, and is my favorite hotel ever!  The rooms are very modern, and very clean with the worlds most comfortable bed!  The staff was wonderful, and the breakfast in the morning was OUTSTANDING!  They have an indoor/ heated/ salt water pool that is AMAZING!

In the casino, the buffet is also really good.  $14 for all you can eat!  Try the Prime Rib, its awesome.
