I love the Vitamin Shoppe (don't care for GNC at all), but I always hit Supplement Warehouse first if I can. Their prices are excellent and the service is great. The store is staffed by a bunch of body builder and power builder types and they know their stuff.
I've been steered to much less expensive supplements a number of times based on the particular need I've communicated.
I've also asked about particular products (in lines they already carry) that are not there and have had good reasons communicated as to why they don't offer them. I imagine they could go ahead and stock them and make more money, but they aren't "good enough" in their eyes, so they are not offered for sale. Definitely admirable in my book.
PEOPLE - Listen, and listen carefully - AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. If you decide to do business with them, it is YOUR OWN FAULT when you get ripped off.
Case in point:
They offer to beat any competitor's price by 5%; so, you find the lower price, you add the URL you found it at, and they automatically match it AND take 5% off, right?
Wrong.
I found a Whey Protein drink advertised on a LEGITIMATE site for $32.95 - Supplement Warehouse had it for $34.95. I entered the URL, the price was matched AND lowered by 5%. Good deal, right?
Wrong. (Don't you love the dramatic "wrong"?)
Here's what Supplement Warehouse does - they CHARGE YOUR CREDIT CARD for the FULL AMOUNT (without taking off for price matching) and they SEND YOU AN EMAIL which states "One or more of the price matches submitted was invalid or unverifiable for one or more of the following reasons. You may have accidentally ordered the wrong product or submitted an invalid price match."
Let me repeat - THEY IGNORE THE PRICE MATCHING AND CHARGE YOUR CREDIT CARD FULL PRICE WITHOUT INFORMING YOU FIRST. You buy something you think is $10 - you order it and receive a receipt that shows you paid $10. You check your order status, and it says you were actually charged $15.
IT GETS BETTER!
After ALL THAT, you have to CANCEL your order by submitting a "help ticket." Then, you're informed that indeed your order has been canceled, but it may take up to FIVE (5) days to receive the money back that was CHARGED WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT.
Want more? Okay - if an item is back ordered, THEY CHARGE YOUR CREDIT CARD FOR IT BEFORE INFORMING YOU.
Sorry for the CAPS folks, but I really want to warn you out there. Please, please, PLEASE do not order from this company unless you love the feeling of getting ripped off and taken advantage of.
Also - when I placed the order I thought was legitimate, it cost $31.00 for the product and $15.00 to ship it. Nice, isn't it?
I've seen a few other review sites where the "owner," defends their practices, but this is indefensible. He will state how many people have placed orders through his company, but all that proves is the level of stupidity in this country.
DO NOT EVER, EVER, EVER ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY.
Oh, I almost forgot - when I sent in my "help ticket" I explained how disgusted I was with how the company conducts business. I also informed them that I am very active on review sites and would hold off from posting anything about their company until I heard back from them. This was their response:
"Per your request, your order has been canceled. A credit has been issued to your credit card. Please note that it can take 3-5 business days to appear on your account. Your order information will remain on file. If you would like to resume your order, call us at 1-800-545-8012 or respond to this help desk ticket. [Rep: Amy]"
Yes, I'd like to resume my order - without lubrication.

Steer clear of supplement warehouse if you expect to get a product at a cost lower than another site's price, AKA price matching. I ordered 2 bottles of a popular supplement that was listed at 22.99 --- but I found the item on another site @ 19.99. Supplement warehouse accepted my price compar information and took $1 off so that the new price was $18.99. I ONLY bought from this site because of the lower price point EVER though their shipping cost at $8.95 was fairly high for only two bottles of supplements.
When the items arrived I was not charged $18.99 --- but instead 22.99. I called and got a run around from the operator ... blah blah blah... bottom line - they don't stick to their promise.
I got an order total and committed to purchasing at that cost. They will do a price compare something before they actually charge the credit card and ship the item and if they don't find the same price they don't honor the price they quoted.
I will NEVER purchase from these fraud rip offs again.
It lives up to the name. It is a warehouse so don't expect pretty carpet or frilly marked shelves of vitamins. They sell any supplement you can buy at GNC (and then some) and have much better prices. I normally go in and the body builders who work here can answer any question and guide you to the appropriate purchases. The beautiful thing is they don't try to sell you the most expensive thing. They will tell you, "Don't buy that, it is a waist of money, try this". Then they will explain why they are referring you to this particular product.
I walked out of the store today with about $175 dollars worth of supplements that I purchased for $117. I normally save some money but they just so happen to have alot of the things I needed on sale. Don't buy supplements at the grocery store because it is convenient or at the mall just because you are "at the mall". This place will save you money.
Looking for discounted nutritional supplements? Check out the Supplement Warehouse. They're not as big as GNC or Vitamin Shoppe but they carry most of the same brand , but the prices are cheaper. I got a few protein energy drink packs from on special, twenty for twenty dollars. Supplement Warehouse is located in Midtown in the Amsterdam Walk shopping center.
