This place is good. It's pricey, definitely for Philadelphia. But they're pretty clean with nice employees and reasonably well stocked. I like it here, as it is closeby and generally has what I need.

If you wanna go slightly cheaper, take a trip up Aramingo to the Shop Rite.

My husband loves this store, but the only thing about it that I view as superior to other grocery stores in our area is the butcher counter. They'll cut your meat any which way, which is great when you want to cut the bone out of a piece of meat and tie it back on for cooking purposes.

Negatives... they've been out of the croutons and salad dressing we like the past few times we've been there. Plus I can't seem to find OxiClean. And their dog/cat food and cat litter is not competitively priced. I also don't like that if you want to bag your own groceries it's difficult to do as they have rounders with bags on all sides instead of the traditional conveyer belt with the bags at the end.

The parking lot is nice, though. And there's a liquor store close-by...

      2.5 stars.

Sure the produce is better-than-average but the prices are sheer larceny.

Cool parking deck, though. The convenience is practically suburban-level. Still: thieves.

Dear dude who makes the announcements here,

First of all, you know I love you (well, at least as much as it's possible to love a dude who makes announcements), right? (Just hadda get that outta the way.)

I was in here today (please note the date of this review) and overheard you announce a special on fresh, ripe avocados "just in time for Cinco de Mayo".

I hate to be the one to break this to you, but somebody's feeding you bad information.

There seems to be a consensus amongst us that "Cinco de Mayo" falls on the 5th of May. That, apparently, was a couple days ago. Unless there's another "Cinco de Mayo" coming up soon that I don't know about, that would mean we'd have to wait about another 360 days or so until we're "just in time for Cinco de Mayo" again. Correct? I'm either very confused about all this or not confused at all. Dunno.

I want to go on record as saying that this in no way detracted from my shopping experience. It fact, it might've enhanced it. Jury's still out on that. Until that verdict comes in, I'll be listening very carefully to your future announcements. Just know they're not falling on deaf ears. I'm cheering for ya, loud and clear. Yay!!!

      Your #1 fan (?),
      Jason B.

I'm sort of in the same boat as Jill C. I never thought I'd write a review about a grocery store but who really knows the tangled webs we'll weave right?

As far as the items in the store they always have everything we want and they usually have killer deals on chicken. What sets this store apart from almost all others are the people inside it, both the consumers and the employers.

We generally go here on Sunday mornings when I still have a "night before buzz" on so I am more open to talking to then usual. Everyone has been happy to give their opinions on certain products and the employees go out of their way to make sure you get exactly what you need.

They may be a bit more expensive then the Shop Rite in SP but the convenience, quality, and overall experience makes it ten times worth it.

It's great that the residents of Northern Liberties now have their very own market, hooray! However, I found my shopping experience here really frustrating. It was pretty crowded, which made navigating the store difficult in the first place, but also the aisles are narrow, so moving around stopped shoppers made for a slow visit. They only had a few lanes open for checkout, despite the large amount of shoppers there on a Sunday evening.

A footnote- I live in South Philly and usually go to ShopRite or the SuperFresh off of Columbus, so this is what I am comparing my experience to. I am a supermarket vagrant and tend to shop around, plus was in the area, so this is why I went here.

It seems like the reviewers on here are very satisfied with it, so I'm happy that it is a good fit for the neighborhood.

This is my go to grocery store.

Firstly, the liquor store is right downstairs. I needn't say anything else, but I will.

The deli and seafood staff are very helpful, and the meat staff is always willing to cut me a smaller portion of things when the packages that are out are too big.

Somehow they always seem to know when I'm low on butter, because it will go on sale just as I need to restock. They have promos going all the time, where you can earn 5% off coupons if you earn a certain amount of points on your shoppers card over a few months time. They also recently started doubling coupons!

The only negatives are, (more with corporate than this specific location) they no longer offer $10 off coupons in the weekly circular, and lately they have sales that require you to spend a minimum before getting the discount, i.e. Edy's Ice Cream 2/$4, but $25 purchase required. Also the cashiers can be cranky/slow/clueless.

Check your receipt and expiration dates!!

Yes, people comment about the view (who goes to a supermarket for the view?), the location, and the newness of the store, but under all that is a pretty lousy supermarket. On two occasions, I've bought products that were past their expiration date (they were refunded, but that is inexcusable).

I also had an item scanned at $10.00 more than was marked on the shelf. Every other grocery store (even the other Superfreshes) offers to give that item for free. I was told that because I caught it before I paid, they only adjust the price. If Id waited, I would have been given the item.

The staff is ambivalent at best, unhelpful at worst. I've been there half a dozen times and their meat department is understocked, but I'm puzzled by the crushed ice display they have. I can only assume its a seafood display, since I've never seen anything resembling a fish anywhere near it.

Lastly, their self checkout is a nightmare for large orders. I'd filled the annoying carosel thing, and put the scanned and bagged items in my cart to make room for the few remaining items in my cart, but I was yelled at and made to put the items on the floor.

This Superfresh may be nice and new, but it isnt half the supermarket that the tired and worn one on Columbus Boulevard is.

I've been to this place countless times since it opened. In fact I was there during it's grand opening week. Nothing has changed. It still remains one of the cleanest supermarkets around and the employees don't have a chip on their shoulder. They are more than willing to help customers and with a smile to boot! I stop by here pretty much every time I'm in Philly and have been amazed that it has maintained it's quality over the years. While I agree with other Yelpers that the price is a little on the expensive side it's not that exorbitant. Plus one has to remember that the neighborhood this store is located on has now transformed into a trendy and chic spot. It's certainly a far cry from the run down, almost ghetto, feel I remember not too long ago. Super Fresh is no generic supermarket alright and that's what make its A-OK in my book.

I can't believe I am reviewing a grocery store (hangs head in nerd-dom)

I generally avoid shopping at regular chain super markets. Mainly because they are just too darn big and the selection can be overwhelming. But, a few weeks ago I decided to take a ride over to the new NL location.

There is ample parking, both above ground and covered - which will be nice on days when the weather sucks. Plus you can actually take your cart TO your car. A huge plus when shopping (for a whole family in my case) alone.

Upon walking in you are greeted by the produce and flowers area. The produce section is decent. Good selection and the produce is nice. Deeper into the store is a great cheese section - the selection is pretty amazing for a chain store. There are also prepared foods, deli and bakery. The bakery has your standard cakes with sugar-sugar icing, but also has some more "gourmet" selections.

Of course the rest of the store has all your grocery store standards. The ethnic sections are also impressive and seem to go beyond just the mass marketed items. I love to cook and bake so I was scoping out their products - this place can definitely be one stop shopping.

The prices seem fair and they are having some awesome "grand opening" specials. ie: 5lbs of potatoes for 99 cents and A&H laundry detergent for $1.99 are just two example. of course there are some items where Target is cheaper (diapers and other baby-related paraphernalia)

And the customer service is outstanding. Employees were quick to help and when I had a pork related question the butcher actually helped me make a selection (yay). The check-out girl was friendly and another employee actually took my cart out to my car for me (what?!?!?!) I declined to have them put the bags into the car but as I was loading the first bag the manager, I think it was the manager at least, came over to place the rest of my bags in the car at his insistence (WHAT!?!?!?!?!) Of course I had my bambina with me, so that may have had something to do with it. . . .

I returned the following week and had just as pleasant an experience - and saved a ton of $$$ because of all the specials and coupons - I think my "savings" equaled what I actually spent.
