When searching for lodging in Vermont especially this touristy area, there is a lot of choices. Unfortunately in October the choices are pricey and expensive for average choices. This place sits right off 89 and 91 and is smack between Lebanon NH and Quechee VT. It is a very large hotel with about 200 rooms.

The staff is friendly enough and from the local area so they know the surroundings. The rooms are very cheap and loads of space and will allow pets. Parking is ample but the lot is a weird set up and one way so you pull out and have to go all the way around to get out. It is directly across from the VA hospital and near gas stations and convenience stores within walking distance.

Okay so here is the bad part: the place is scary. I mean seriously dated enough with beat up furniture in each room and nasty broke down pillows in the beds. The beds are hard as rock slabs that are on there last legs. The scarier part is that each door to the rooms is a to the outside and since our room was on the end of the building we caught all the noise and conversations of everyone coming up the stairs. The walls are thin like paper and you can hear every single noise from next store. The place is also isolated away from the rest of the hotels on the street and sits on a field adjacent to the highway.

Regardless, it is a Super 8 for budget bargain basement travelers and there is a free continental breakfast and it is close to everything. Just be ready to sleep in the car if you have seen Psycho too many times.

The Super 8 Motel in WRJ is the epitome of "serviceable."  The rooms are perfectly fine, not luxurious but not dirty.  The bathrooms are too small.  But it is so much cheaper than the other chain hotels in the area, and if you aren't going to be spending entire days lounging around the room I see no reason to pay the extra money for a nicer room.  It is a great place to stay for people visiting Dartmouth, as it is only about ten minutes from campus and about 3 or 4 minutes from the Amtrak station and the Greyhound station.

Good grief. Upon pulling into the parking lot of the historic and world renowned Super 8 in White River Junction I am immediately reminded of a few things:

-it's nice to have all of your front teeth
-meth ruins lives
-children are not a requirement and not everybody should breed

As far as a cheap overnight option for the road weary this is a just fine option. It's right off the highway, there are places that will deliver to your room, there is a clean enough pool, they are OK with dogs, there is a market across the street for all your boozey and pornographic needs, and the rooms are deal withable. I noticed several families staying here that looked like they had been camped in there rooms for weeks. How do I know this? They left there doors open all night. I don't know why, I don't want to know why.

And a few words of advice on White River Junction. Actually this will sum it up nicely: bowling alley/burger joint/strip club.

Ayup.
