Oh Sunset. Such a love hate relationship we continue to foster. I'm giving you 4 stars based on your spinach and artichoke dip (even if you secret ingredient IS crack), your delicious amazing allston village 4 cheese style turkey burger, and of course your infamous beer selection. Although your service sometimes leaves quite a bit to be desired... I continue to come back again and again.
I had some friends in from out of town and after we toured the Sam Adams Brewery, they were itching to try some more beer. We sat down in the "garage" on the lower level and ordered up some drinks. A hophead flight, a lindemens peche and the blackberry wit. Good shit Charlie Brown. My friends ordered the tropical salmon special, the fajita pita and I of course, for the turkey burger. What IS it about the turkey burger at this place I love so much? I have no idea. Its smothered in cheese, has a nice soft bun and i cover it in dijon mustard with pickles and LTO. I love it.
Our server was a sweet guy and didnt get mad at us as we sat for 2 hours and had an intense debate about the healthcare crisis in America which later lead into what ended up being an intense therapy session for us all. He didnt rush us once and was nothing but smiles the whole time. When we were walking out we realized that there was a legit wait outside and that it was nice (we are all ex industry people) that we didnt even get the sense from him that he was trying to flip the table. Thanks for letting us catch up after 4 years apart.
Of course I will be back... I just wish that there werent as many employees as draft lines... Once I find a server I like I can never find them again.
There is a lot of beer here. A lot. I had a lambic for the first time there, it was pretty good. I'm not a huge beer drinker, but if you are, you definitely need to go to sunset grill, you need to go like a muslim needs to go to mecca, I'm serious.
The food is nuts, the portions are out of control. The nachos that are an appetizer, can very well function as two separate entrees. The half serving of cheese fries, is way more that enough for two people. It's like barfood on steroids! Great for groups and moderately priced, the service is okay, but it may be hard to flag a waitress down on busy nights.
Great place!
The first time I saddled up to the bar at the Sunset many years ago, I knew this was going to be a favorite. Over 100 beers on tap. Hundreds more in bottles. Those figures alone made me immediately regret the drive back to Stoneham ahead of me at the end of the night, as I would not be able to sample nearly as many of their fine offerings as I would have liked.
Add the chalkboards telling you which kegs are freshest, lines cleaned every two weeks, beer flights, and specials on seasonals and other featured beers, and you have a veritable beer aficionado's heaven.
Then the food menu arrived, and at first glance it seems too good to be true. How can a menu have so many options and still do anything well? I played it safe and stuck with a burger. It was delicious. On subsequent visits, I sampled pasta and a seafood daily special. All delicious.
It may be a wait at peak hours, especially if you're with a group. I've managed to bypass the lines and found a seat at the bar on each of my visits after a minimal amount of hovering while someone finished up.
Unfortunately, I don't get to Boston as frequently as I used to, but the Sunset is always on the agenda when I do. The only knock I have on the Sunset is that on the occasions I've been there, it seems to have drawn a rowdier crowd that felt a little mismatched for the bar area. I think the restaurant is more conducive to a more boisterous dining experience, so it may have been overflow from the dining room. But having to shout over the crowd to order another beer was a little offputting.
Anyone who doesnt enjoy Sunset Grill and its massive selection of beer is a closet terrorist and should be arrested and tortured daily in Guantanemo Bay until they appreciate that this place is amazing.
You could spend 6 hours a day for a full month in here and you still couldnt try all of their beers. The food is pretty good and the menu has something for everyone. I love going here the day after a messy night of drinking for something greasy like their Steam Beer Burger and onion rings. Hits the spot every time!
So my roommates and I came here a few times just because they had an impressive selection of beers. Over 100 beers on tap and I think over 400 bottled beer. If you're a beer fanatic, it might be worth your time to check this place out. Additionally, their food is spectacular. One of the favorites has to be the nachos with pulled pork. It is seriously out-of-this-world delicious. I'm not a big fan of nachos, but man, I was in heaven.
Mu and I came here one night and met a super friendly bartender who was extremely attentive and helpful. However, this is not always the case. The first time we ever came here, our stupid waitress was prancing around the opposite side of the room from where we were seated and totally ignored us for half the night. We had to constantly ask the other waitresses to find her. So I guess that's the reason why I took off one star, their service is hit or miss. I would at least try this place once (with food!).
I really like this place because I can try beers there that I cannot get anywhere else. The food is pretty good too, with huge portions. I guess for a beer bar with food, it doesn't get much better.
One of the best (and only) places to get Abita beer in Boston.
It's no secret that I love Abita and all thing New Orleanian, so I have pretty high expectations of cajun food. I tried the shrimp po boy based on the recommendation of another NOLA lover, and I must say, it's the best I have ever had north of the Mason - Dixon. The sauce is spicy and it is filled with shrimp. The waitress recommended having it made into a wrap instead of the sandwich bread. Delish!
The only problem with Sunset Grill is that it can get very crowded during sporting events. Go early or be prepared to wait outside.
Nachos. Just order their nachos. It doesn't matter how much it is. But please have at least 3 ppl helping you out...it's the biggest nacho plate eva. Hot cheese just melting over the chips, hot chili hidding in the middle of this massive pile and surprising combination of jalapeno peppers only intensify your nacho experience.
They have such a large beer selection that you don't even know what to order. It's loud and crowded, but it's a fun place to be with your friends late at night.
There is another Sunset near BU and it's less crowded--if you want more of a quieter experience (still freaking loud though...heh)
When it comes to beer, there is no place better. The prices aren't too unreasonable, but the obvious high point would be the enormous, and somewhat overwhelming, beer list. While the food menu is almost as extensive, with all manners of bar food in several different variations, the food is so-so overall. Definitely quantity of varieties and options over quality of each item.
A great plus when it comes to the beer list is the amount of genres in addition to the overall total of specific beers. To fit the fall season they have several types of pumpkin beer, and I never realized how much I enjoyed it until the girlfriend and I split a pumpkin flight with four small glasses to try different kinds of the pumpkin. I've kept going in for new styles of the pumpkin since I've been back to Sunset, and though I don't have a favorite as of yet, I've had a good time trying out the different varieties. Whether you want a traditional light American lager, a double IPA or anything along the spectrum, Sunset will have a few or a few dozen options for you.
The food menu is chock full of great bar fare and a huge selection of vegetarian options. The nachos were good and a half-order could feed 3 people well, but pretty standard nachos. The burgers were also pretty ordinary, but good. There are a bunch of different ways to customize burgers.
Really, Sunset should be commended for a huge list of decent food, but the beauty of the place is in its beer list. Anyone who likes beer, and especially any beer-drinker that likes trying new things, needs to find Sunset at some point. I know I'll keep going back.
The beer selection is top notch. Absolutely great for just beer. Food wise, its good... but not great, and too expensive.
BUT the desert nachos are too good to be true.
After many more visits I feel the need to award Sunset its fifth star. It has become a staple for me when I'm in town because of its awesome beer list, great food and good service.
Since my initial encounter, I have tried the buffalo turkey burger, which was amazing and is now my new favorite item. Also, the regular burgers are thick and juicy. The onion rings are really good, and that's coming from someone who does not usually like the beer-battered variety. Finally, the half-sour pickles make me very happy.
I have also drank many more dark beers since my first flight, including some amazing imperials and a creme brulee stout that made me say, "holy crap!" The best part of ordering beer at Sunset is you can trust your servers and bartenders, they know their shit. I'm dying to return for a pumpkin flight, hopefully I'll make it back soon!

What can I say about Sunset that hasn't been said before?
The food was good, I had the veggie burger… Read more »
Great location for enormous selection of craft beer. Our service was excellent on both visits as well. Very diverse menu with traditional pub fare in addition to southwest menu items, and pizza available from the adjacent pizzeria.
All of the beers I ordered were recent releases so there wasn't a problem with fresh taps. Prices were slightly high but not enough to make it a substantial negative for the place. Food, as far as taste goes, was rather average.
If you're not a beer enthusiast then you may not see the appeal of this place. But if you are, then it is a must visit place while in the Boston area.
(To the tune of "Jingle Bells")
Beer beer beer
Beer beer beer
Beer beer beer, beer beer.
Oh what fun it is to get shitty with a newly twenty-one-year-old and three beer aficionados as it snows outside (in Oc-fucking-tober) while watching the Patriots sweep the Titans, laughing all the way! (Hey!)
The last line needs some work.
But seriously.
Eleventy billion tasty, tasty beers on tap or in the bottle, served in proper glassware, occasionally by someone who knows everything about beer but oftener, by someone who doesn't. That's okay. Allow me to enjoy my mammoth plate of nachos, which I pray will soak up all the beer I'm to swill tonight. If my nachos ever come, because wait times are a little on the I'm-getting-so-hungry-I-might-eat-my-hand-or-my-di nner-companion side. Still okay. There is beer. Oh. Also. When you want to indulge in your hedonism, there are beer floats. Guinness and chocolate win. Sobriety and waistline fail.
If what you like is to try new beers all the time, this is your place. I believe they have over 300 different beers from around the world, so it impressed me...
Really good burgers and a cool atmosphere...
The one in Comm Ave is as good...
This place is great for several reasons. First of all they have Racer 5 on tap. This is one of my favorite micro brews from cali, and a rare find. Very excellent. The menu is long, the beer list is longer. The atmosphere is nice here, Its a busy environment with perfect lighting, and just enough tv's. The food is great, its tex-mex style grill grub. I recommend the pulled pork quesadillas. Service here is always prompt. The one thing I would say though is that this place is somewhat pricey, you can drop a small fortune if you decide to do an app, dinner, and a full round of drinks. Either way, this place gets two thumbs up.
Texan girl here, ratin' Tex-Mex food, what what!
When I opened their beer menu and saw there was a wide selection of Hefes, Hefeweizens, AND Wits (in this dark beer town) I think I danced a little jig in my seat! I'm a little sad there's no brews from Texas other than Lone Star (we've got some good beers down there!) but it's to be expected. I'm still tickled pink that there's somewhere I can go to get my fruity stuff!
I am also in absolute SHOCK AND AWE at the HUGE PORTIONS they give you (or as I announced in my drunken state, "That's a healthy helpin'!") Seriously, the appetizers are gigantic enough to feed 2 people a full meal, and the actual entres are so enormous they will almost definitely require a take-home box. Especially the fajitas - That could feed a family of three by itself!
I am taking one star off for serving a salad with raspberry vinaigrette as a side for a burrito. WTF, Boston? No! Those do NOT go together! Where do you get these CRAZY ideas about side dishes????
I finally made it back to Sunset for the taco salad I saw being served last time I was there. How can you go wrong with 5 lbs. of lettuce chicken cheese olives salsa and guacamole piled into a deep fried taco shell???
It was good, but didn't blow my hair back. My friend got a half order of nachos and I have to say I was feeling a bit of orderer's remorse when I saw his plate. Plus with these taco salads I always feel like I have to earn my way to eating the shell by eating all of the salad first, if it can even be called "salad", so needless to say I feel terrible after it's all gone. Next time I should just dump the whole thing upside-down onto the plate, eat the whole shell, then whatever I want from what's left.
Oh, plus this thing was like $12.99!!! I mean it came with blackened chicken, which was very tasty.. but still!

Now that I don't have a "regular job" I don't have to dread Sunday nights anymore! From now on… Read more »
Received colorful margarita served in awkwardly gigantic glass. Noted diverse imported beer selection and blue Smurfy cocktails. Appreciated the appealing atmosphere and decor.
Service was speedy until the very end. We waited a bit too long for our bill. It was getting boring waiting. This would be due to the crowded factor, so we weren't skimpy on the tip.
Prices could stand to be lower.
Food portions: large. Food quality: average. Leftovers central.
Regardless of the drawbacks, Sunset beats any chain restaurant any day.
That menu is ridiculous. They have a bit of everything! The veggie burger is one of the better that I've had. They have cider on draft. They have pumpkin beer with a cinnamon sugar rim. All is right with the world.
The first time I went to Sunset, I went for a good burger and some awesome beer. All the many many countless times after that, I have had amazing burgers and good beers there. I love the variety of cheeses and toppings one can add to a really fairly priced meaty burger. I love the little booklet they use as a beer menu. (They serve many types of beers, locals and imported, and they are not snobby like Public House)
Although I am not a big fan of the non-existing ambiance, and I don't like having to wait in line on Brighton Ave. I am still a big fan of the burger and the beers.
I may like this bar too much. Between the basically unlimited beer selection from the GI to the exotic, and the amazing bar foods (particularly the nachos), I literally recommend this bar to everyone who asks me "where should I go when I first visit Boston?"
It's that good. I wish I owned it.
I have only been here twice since living in the Boston area but I plan on making many returns.
First experience was great, as I noticed their insane beer selection and they had my favorite beer (Leffe). The food was good too, but I was mainly focusing on the beer.. perhaps that's a sign that I need to stop drinking...
Second experience was even better, as I had more than one bottle of Leffe this time (haha) and was there with a huge group of friends to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. Our waitress was really attentive and nice and had a great personality. She also was kind enough to bring out the cake we brought, all lit up, and got everyone at the surrounding tables to join us in singing happy birthday.
I really wanted to love this place. I wore my heart on my sleeve any everything.
My experience here last night alone would have justified a 3 star rating at most. But I know that this place has much more potential, and had we gotten a different server, things might have worked out between us.
First, the good. Beers. If you didn't know already, Sunset Grill serves 112 beers on tap and 300+ in bottles. Their food menu is extensive enough, but their drink menu is a whole new playing field. If you're interested in trying out new brews, definitely check this place out.
Now the bad. Our waitress. Took. Forever.
But that's about it. Although it wouldn't hurt to have a happy hour here and there.
I'll be back, but I'm going to do my best to avoid that waitress.
Well, okay, the beer list is obviously 5 stars. They have a little of everything and it's all broken down by style so you have a vague idea of what you're ordering. If you're not very adventurous, just pick something from the same category as a beer you already know you like. If you are a beer person, dude, go crazy. And if you're interested in something really crazy sounding, do not be afraid to ask if it's gross, the waitstaff here will give you an honest answer and most of them seem pretty dang familiar with the beer menu. The beer prices are actually pretty competitive here, you can get some good stuff for the same price as you'd pay for a Sam Adams at a lot of places.
The food menu is extensive, but for the most part it's not great. Prices are appropriate and portion sizes are enormous. The best thing they have is the spinach artichoke dip. It's served like nachos on a massive pile of pita chips covered in olived and tomatoes and other stuff. One serving is probably enough for like 4 people. The wings are dependable, and the sandwiches are mostly okay. I usually get the Tijuana Turkey wrap; it has pico de gallo and avocado and is served with ranch dressing on the side. The curly fries are pretty good too. The only thing i ever had here that was straight up bad were the crabcakes. They were lukewarm and didn't taste good at all.
It is always crowded in here at night and i am pretty sure that they don't take reservations. You might get a table right away but be prepared to wait, especially on weekends. And if there's just 2 of you, you might get stuck in this little table by the window stuck behind an iron fence. I've been sat here so many times for some reason, and you get the draft from the door full force there in the winter. Service can be erratic because they're so busy, but every server i've had has been friendly. I recommend browsing the menu while you still have some beer left so you can order as soon as your waiter stops by; if you're not ready it might be a while before they get back to you. Also, pick out a second choice as they do run out of things often.
Parking can be an annoyance. Try the lot behind blanchards or circle back to comm ave where there is a metered lot.
I went here, having never heard of the bar in my life, and was expecting to meet some friends. The place was *crowded,* even for a Friday night. Standing room only (and barely that, I was elbow-to-elbow with a bunch of strangers) with an hour and a half wait for the tables. I surveyed the immense wall of beers with skepticism -- surely they couldn't all be available?
Unfortunately, it was too crowded to get a menu, or even exchange a few words with a server or bartender about the drink selection. I didn't feel like being creative, and I was still waiting for my friends (who never showed) so I ordered a Miller Lite while I waited, awkwardly in the crowd, and was greeted with a look of derision and a $5 check (for a Miller Lite, really?)
I finally managed to get my paws on a menu, which they have floating around the bar, and was impressed by the drink selection. They even have one of my favorite beers -- the Apricot Ale from Ithaca Beer Co! Wow!
I would have loved to hang out here more, maybe order a flight of samplers, sit and chat, but the crowd was too much, and waiting around for the bartender to notice me was a pain (definitely didn't want sample beers if it was going to take that long).
Besides, standing room only (holding a purse, jacket, your boyfriend's hand, and a beer, and while wearing heels) loses its appeal when you're tipsy.
Five stars on the beer selection alone, my friend. Hundreds and hundreds of beers to choose from: 112 on tap and 318 in bottles. Whoa. Absolute heaven for beer lovers like me. I ordered the Fajita Pita with curly fries and although it was good (it's essentially a gigantic portion of grilled chicken, peppers, onion, and cheese on a pita) it was not fabulous. I like banana peppers, truly I do, but the addition of it to the Fajita Pita was a little odd to me. Anyway.
The booklet of beers is mind-blowing. You almost don't know where to start. I ended up getting one of the specials of the night: a 23 oz glass of Dogfish Head Chickory Stout which I must say was great. I also had mead for the first time ever..not bad. After reading the reviews here, I'll be sure to try out one of their burgers.
I went here after getting really stoned. The decisions i was forced to make while stoned were ridiculous. And difficult. My childhood friend and I decided to come here so we could try all kinds of beer we've never seen/heard of. We employed the expertise of the bartender who shared with us his stories about how he became a beer expert, how he ended up in Boston - he was really attentive, and kept us entertained.
Also I got to try some amazing beers. I'm a fan of hefs, porters, and fruit beer. I got a great recommendation for the frambois, and another for something really strong, and ordered some pulled pork sliders which came with my fav- sweet potato fries. Jake got some regular cheeseburger sliders, regular fries, and some wings, and we wolfed it down like champs. It was a good time, and the food was great.
I think the prices were the most reasonable out of any restaurant I'd been to in Boston. Overall although it's far from downtown Boston, the location is great for where I was staying, and hello - they have 500 different kinds of beer - the most out of any place I've ever been to, chill atmosphere, and great food. The the servers/bartenders are great people with knowledge about what they serve. I couldn't ask for more from a joint like this.
I'm only giving them 4 stars because of the beer selection.
The food is good more often than not, but the service is so freaking spotty in this joint.
It's not uncommon to wait 15 to 20 minutes after you've been seated to get someone to take your order. With the amount of staff that they seemingly have on hand, it seems a bit excessive to me. Most of the attitudes in this joint are best described as unhelpful at their best and surly at the other end of the scale. Evs though... this isn't the kind of place you go to expecting to be treated like royalty.
The beer selection is immense, although prices have risen and in some cases, the standard issue draft has been knocked down from 16oz to 13oz. There are great deals to be had, if you're looking at ABVs per $... and if you're not, there are just plain a whole lot of great beers to be had.
The food is pub food... nothing out of this world, but it's done well. The nachos are pretty epic, though I wish they'd drop the price on the half-order. The pizza is surprisingly good, and I'd recommend getting the calamari one. So damn tasty. The burritos/TexMexi-fare is definite gringo food... take that as you will. Not saying it's bad, just sayin'.
All in all, it's a great little spot if you get there early... even better in the summer, when all the college kids are gone. The food is decent, the beer is worth the trip, and I'll admit that I'm happy I moved out of the neighborhood because I easily lost 10 lbs by not having easy access to their beer menu.
This place is definitely worth the 45 minute T ride on the B line. They have pages and pages and pages of authentic brews. I tried the organic pomegranate beer and the Pinkus organic. Both great! I really don't think there is another place in the city with this type of beer selection. As a bonus, they have great food and most of it is pretty inexpensive (I got a mushroom melt for $9). The caveat is that this place is busy so be prepared to wait on a Friday or Saturday night. Also, I wasn't thrilled with the service and it almost knocked this place down a star, but I will give our server the benefit of the doubt since the place was packed and she was at least apologetic about it and friendly.
The beer list is ASTRONOMICAL.
Come here to get any special microbrews, or other rare beers that most other bars won't have. Awesome seasonal offerings and lots of imported goodness fill their gigantic 112 taps! they also have table taps, pitchers, and yards of beer.
As for food, they have a HUGE plate of nachos that can be dinner for 4 people. Their anchor steam burger is one of the best burgers i've ever had. The steam cooked burgers stay extra juicy, and the cheese turns into the most delicious consistency. They have a big menu, with lots of choices, some mediocre, but mostly your standard pub food. You can also order pizza from the "big city" menu (a poolhall upstairs).
If you're looking for cocktails, go somewhere else. The margaritas here are fairly tasty but extremely weak. They also one have ONE KIND OF TEQUILA, and its gross house tequila. If you want good cocktails, and 112 tequilas go to sunset cantina just down the road near packard's corner.
The service is usually on the slow side. The wait staff is plenty friendly, but be prepared to be patient for your drinks and food. This place is actually terrible for a business lunch, you don't get your food for almost 45 minutes. But for hanging out with a group, you usually don't notice the delay.
The interior is amazing, and the walls are covered in old beer trays, coasters, and taps. There's tons of seating on both sides of the main bar ... as well as downstairs. It's always very very busy, and you should expect a 30 minute wait anytime after 5 on the weekends.
A great place to meet for some beers, lively atmosphere, huge beer list, and lots of seating. Try to avoid going on a friday or saturday night, unless you don't mind waiting. They have a couple awesome menu items, but the menu overall is pretty standard pub food.
Where I live, in Nashville, TN, Flying Saucer is probably the closest you can get to what Sunset offers, which is basically an enormous selection of quality beers. Sunset is over the top with their 300+ brews, and I love it. Next time I'm in Boston I hope to get over that way and tackle one of those nacho plates. Literally, I will need to tackle it because it's the size of a small child.
The sun never sets at Sunset Grill and Tap...400+ reviews will tell you that.
They've got a mind-boggling maze of a beer menu that spans every major beer region and includes way too many beers on tap along with a bar-food-on-steroids menu that offers very reasonably-priced burgers, awesome blackened-chicken quesadillas, pizza, pasta, wings and almost anything a drunk person might crave.
Add these guys to my list of beer-lovers bars and restaurants, but my only gripe is that due to the insane number of beers on tap you may find that an especially obscure brew comes from a keg that hasn't been changed recently enough and tastes a little flat/stale. Just try to go with something good that gets ordered and you'll be safe.
Come here to expand your brew horizons.
I always feel like I'm cheating on Sunset Cantina when I go to her sister, Sunset Grill & Tap, but the Allston locale offers a larger beer selection and the same great Buenos Cheese Nachos...so I'm sold. The atmosphere feels a bit more cramped here, it lacks the large open space that Cantina offers, but for smaller groups the Grill & Tap is a better bet. I gave this same warning on my review of Cantina - don't expect to eat and run. Or drink and run. Or do anything here that requires a fast pace. Are they taking a siesta back there? Whatever...as long as I have my Buenos Cheese Nachos and a beer, I'm good to go :-)
Don't believe the hype!
The concept is perfect the execution is poor. I wrote a similar review for its upstairs neighbor, Big City, the pool hall/bar.
Sure Sunset has a pretty amazing beer selection. And yes the food is served in very big portions. However, the food is only okay and the beer, while being good on paper, simply doesn't taste the way it should. My novice taste buds attribute that to dirty taps shared with multiple beers. That may or may not be accurate. If I'm wrong then I wonder what it could be, dirty glasses, something in the air?
It also gets very crowded and can take a long time to get a table or place to sit. However, that should be expected with such a huge beer selection and no real competition in the area.
These days I'm in Brookline and have found my new love, the Publik House, which owns Sunset on beer selection and quality as well as better food.
As someone always on the lookout for a new beer to try, I am always searching for bars that have a better than average selection. This place wins the award so far. I've been to a few other establishments around the country that come close, but none of them are beating out this place. I expect I'll be returning here soon, maybe even this weekend. I think the official count of beers on tap is 112. The food menu is quite extensive as well. I highly highly highly recommend this place to any beer lover that happens to find themselves in Boston or surrounding areas. I would be kicking myself right about now if I hadn't made the trip to check this place out.
Sunset has a good variety of food. I like coming here because the food is usually very good. the only bad thing is that it is always SUPER loud. and the waiters are all kind of goofy. i suppose if i drank beer i would love this place more but will definitely go a few more times.
This place is great! food rocks and so does the drinks five stars all the way
Get your "Dirty Ho" and Buenos Cheese nacho fix here, just like at its sister Sunset Cantina down the street. I'm also a fan of the midnight madness buffet here on Monday nights. Cook up all the leftovers from the day so I can eat them for free? Yes, please.
Okay lets preface this review by saying, I've been coming here for years.. Over about a 5 year period I've gotten some good, some bad dining experiences.
However my last 6 visits or so in the past year have gone from not so good, to just horrendous. I'll say this, the food has always been the same, the beer is always the same.. which is average to above average bar fare.
The service just SUCKS. Yes i know sometimes it's been busy (but other times its been empty). Many time's I've been seated only to chase down someone to serve us (typical waits of 15-35 minutes to get someone to acknowledge us). Usually the excuse is, the shifts are changing or management didnt say they had to serve tables in this section, yadda yadda. Whatever, it all equals terrible service.
Usually any special requests are forgotten (like asking for condiments, things on the side, etc). Many times of watching other tables around us get their order in and food before we've even gotten a server at the table. One time i even complained to the greeter at the front door about not having a waitress and he just blankly stared at me and said "oh". Some manners. And almost all the times the service has been terrible, we never get a "sorry about the wait".
I dont know if they are under new management or whatever, but i've been wanting to give this place another chance.. in fact 6 trips or so to redeem themselves. I don't think i can return to this place until they get their act together.
Me? Not review Sunset? That's un-possible.
Best nachos anywhere, ever, hands down. Not just quantity-wise (you'll be eating even the smaller size for days) but they are exquisitely crafted. Try the pulled pork ones, very nice. They probably have other food but I don't care to know about it.
As for the beer, the selection speaks for itself. Sometimes there's a long wait for a table, especially when school's back in, but it's worth it. Go hungry-- you certainly won't leave that way, even if your dinner's in liquid form.
