This is a decent mall.  I don't quite understand why people seem to hate it so much.

Trust me, they used to be a lot better and have a larger variety of stores, however, for a mall its size, it's not terrible.  They have an okay food court, a Sear's, a Macy's, and a JC Penney.  Plus the other stores they offer, while typical mall-stores, are still good.

I agree with a previous review, not the place to go if you are looking to spend the day at the mall. Roosevelt is for that.

It is located close to where I work so If I need something specific I will come on my lunch break and get what I need. Yes, it is very quiet inside. Kind of eerie feeling at times. I would rather drive the extra 15 minutes to go to the Roosevelt field mall if I am in the mood to treat myself although this mall still has stores that I would buy from.

I guess it comes down to atmosphere.  : /

I agree too this place is not the same as it was 15 years ago but alot of things have changed since then.  I honestly do not head out this way too much anymore but the journey to sunrise highway was one I took every two months or so.
-The food court is very well known here but not as good as it once was.  I think I even applied to work at that Walmart way back when.  The mall still gets crowded but I agree you might as well go to Roosevelt Field and have a really good time as a Mall.

Mall used to be so much better.....I'm going back 15 years ago this mall used to have a lot of good stores, not these mom and pop shops that keep shut down after the first month.  The owner is trying really hard to make the mall better, which I can see the difference but its far from Walt Whitman and Roosevelt Field.

Nice that it has Walmart, Sears and Macys to keep it going.

Just went by here today, because my wife wanted to buy something.  While waiting for her, I perused the hallways.  I felt as though I was in a ghost town, in the sense that there were few people and that a lot of the storefronts were empty.  Only go here if you KNOW what you want.  Otherwise, a waste of time.

This is still a bit more run down than the Roosevelt Field Mall, but the last time I was here, they were doing some major work to make it more up-to-date.

It's like any mall, you can find a mix of stores and a ton of teenagers.

If you live in the immediate area, you probably go there often enough, but if you are looking to go to a mall to waste a few hours spending money and getting lost in the crowd, you are probably better off driving to the Roosevelt Field Mall.

I haven't been here in years, but I remember when they had duck ponds on the first floor, a free roaming giant lop eared rabbit, and an arcade across the hall from Sbarros. I also remember when you could smoke in the mall...and I mean, being from Long Island, hanging out in the mall and smoking was obviously a hobby, practically a skill you had to learn before you hit high school (or maybe once you got to high school, I can't remember)

Honestly, I don't have any idea what shape the mall is in now (though I heard someone drove a car through one of the storefronts recently) but thank you Sunrise Mall, thanks for the memories, and thanks for helping me down the road to the inevitable lung cancer.

Pretty good mall. I like it over there a lot. Again, a nice assortment of stores that cater to a diverse audience (something for the punk, the urbanite, and the prep). I personally like the urbanwear stores (great slection and one in particular...City Source...has some great sales at times). Also, pretty good selection of sneakers, if you look around. A lot of good parking (especially by the Macy's) and of course, no mall is complete without an Auntie Anne's.

One of the best things about this mall is that it is more toned down than some of the other malls on Long Island. It is not as ritzy-LongIslandy as Roosevelt Field (although that mall has its moments too).

Also, I should mention that sometimes professional wrestlers make an appearance there at one of the Sports Shops.

Average mall on Long Island...PLUS ARBYS! Nowhere else or remotely close can one find an ARBYS!!!!

So if you're craving a cheesy, roast beef sandwich of hearty wholesomeness...hit this bad boy up.

MALLWISE - all the regular, everyday, average stores that one would find in a regular mall...two floors of shopping. Can't complain. I guess once one has been to the Roosevelt Field Mall, no other mall can compare?

I hate malls.  I hate malls around the holidays even more.  I hate trashy, ghetto, run-down malls around the holidays worst of all.  This place is seriously depressing.  Someone should put it out of its misery.

This place belongs on the bottom of the trash pile.  When it comes to the ghetto atmosphere and the thugs that patrol the grounds, this mall is the creme de la creme of the highest order.  Napalm this bad boy...trust me, no one will care.
Hey Alan, one would disagree with your "high pressure atmosphere" comment.  When 20 gang members give you the ice grill upon entering with your 3 year old daughter, I would say a high pressure scenario is well underway.

Oh goodness this mall has gone way downhill. I used to go here ALL the time until I hit high school, which I think was when they took the movie theater out (BIG MISTAKE!). I practically lived there in middle school because my private school wasn't far and a lot of my friends lived right there. It's pretty typical as far as the stores go, but some of them (H&M, The Disney Store, Hot Topic) are way smaller than stores in other malls). It's also gotten kind of ghetto over the years, but it's still an enjoyable time. There is TONS of parking!!

Dirt mall to the extreme! I'm from Massapequa and the only time I ever come here is for Nathans or if I am in dire straights for a gift for someone I don't actually care about. Walmart made the mall go way down hill. Skip this and drive the extra 10 min to Roosevelt Field.

Not quite sure what Alyson R is talking about...but this place was never good.  It has ALWAYS been ghetto and full of thug gang members.  How do I know this?  Plenty of friends in the Nassau Co. Police Dept.  Both patrol and gang unit.  This place is crap.  You cant even walk in without having to walk through a crowd of hoods.  Take an extra 15 minutes and head to any number of different malls in the area.

If there was an option for zero stars, I'd use it.  Fuck this place.  Hope it burns down.

Nice Mall a little small but it's nice it's not as crowded as Roosevelt field at weekends.though I really don't like that they took away that McDonalds on the first floor but it's pretty good.food court has a decent selection (Wendy's,Subway,Sbarros(don't know if I spelled that right) ,Chinese and Taco Bell etc.)
