This was my first time paintballing and I actually had a lot of fun!

The Sunol field has a lot of open space to run around and wooden boards to hide behind.. no trees though, so you'll end up burning under the sun while wearing all those layers of clothing. I initially thought we would get tracksuits or something of that sort, but you just have to wear your regular clothes. The only thing they provide are the masks. Overall, I felt like I was at war or in open combat.. like the video game Call of Duty. Good first experience! It's best when you just run rambo-style and don't care. You get the most out of the experience and the most use of the field.

This fields gets hot in the summer. There's no trees on or off the field so you're basking under the sun constantly. Fields are nice and has interesting obstacles, expecially the one with the fortress(castle?) in the middle. There's no elevation here, so it's great for players who has bad knees or are not in shape. Self filled air is also pretty nice and they have somewhat of a decent road to drive into with plenty of parking.

Refs are not the greatest so this place will be quite intimidating for newer players. I don't see how the ref doesn't seem to care when an advanced player bunkers a kid with a rental... that's just not right. I don't care if that player plays on a team or is the owner's son, he should have been kicked out. Funny thing is that I've seen this on more than one occasion so it's quite disappointing.

I am a bit on the psychotic side.  Keeping my cool is not one of my traits.  But get me on a paintball field and I am your worst nightmare.

My husband and I are familiar with rules and a few paintball places, so catching on isn't a problem with us.

Here are my pros and cons:

Pros:
-nice staff
-easy parking
-not too long of a walk to the playing areas
-well maintained equipment
-nice rest areas
-they provide paper towels at the counter area (for your paintball mask)
-if you like obstacle courses than this is the place for you
-they cater to private parties... making sure you have a good time.

Cons:
-the port-a-potty is NASTY (this is a common problem at most outdoor paintball facilities
-urine puddles in the paintball hideouts located on the field, yes I stepped in a few
-the referees aren't too strict on enforcing the rules (I got peppered with paint balls when I was 'out' and walking off the field with my hands up... many times)
-they charge $5 a refill on CO2... on THEIR tanks.  This is not customary at some places we go.
-they are a bit on the pricey side.

I will add that my husband left his ID at the service area and the staff made sure it was safely returned.

I loved that they gave us a break in the playing fee.... since we showed up pretty late in the day.

3 stars.... I'd go back, in a dryer season... when the urine puddles dry up.

Been here 3 times and the ref. never give me a hard time. Not that I want to mess with the ref. here. They will give you a hard time if you give them a hard time. So, don't give them the hard time.

This place is an outdoor field with 3 fields open. They use to have air ball but no longer there. They also let you air the tank up by yourself at anytime when you buy all day air. Where can you find a field that let you air your tank up? I have to give this place a 4 star.

We came here to celebrate a birthday and we got there right when it opened. The staff was friendly and was very helpful. We all had a great time until a few people showed up and chose not to follow the rules.

A couple of people shot people in our group with in a few feet after being told to surrender (against rules) and others would have people called out bring them more amo. After complaining to the staff not much was done as it seems these people knew someone on the staff.

Another downfall is that this is in the middle of nowhere! If you stay all day, you can buy a hotdog, chips, and soda lunch from here for $5 or travel to either Livermore or Pleasanton to pick something up.

i must pay homage to where my paintball career started... although we made fun that this field was next to a rodeo ranch, this was the first field i came to after playing in the backyard of an ex of mine... after the first visit, we liked the people and atmosphere, so we kept on coming...

the owners had became great comrades of ours and soon we were refs for the field...

i have seen sunol go through many changes and they always have tried to cater to players as best as they could...

i'd also have to say that this field is probably the best field for groups and or bday parties... there are no tournament players to try and shoot your heads off....

i like to come out here every now and then for good old fashioned fun paintball... you do not get this at scp...

Inconveniently located in East Bumfudge.  The field we used was treeless and all the barriers were low, which made for a lot of diving and laying down and crouching, and Grampa just can't keep that up for too long no more.  Expensive reloads, slightly dickish game operating dudes, but damn we had fun.  I won the last game by leaping over a barrier and forcing a surrender of the opposing team even though my gun was totally empty.  They just pu$$ied out.
