Overall they are a caring & nice vet office for routine visits and shots.
But when my pug started to have more serious issues they failed to really handle it. Everything they tried continued to not help. And I felt like I was paying someone to continue to give the wrong information. Because of the closeness I probably will still go here for routine checks & shots.

Several years ago, Dr. Singh helped me to rescue and adopt a homeless cat wondering in the backyard. Through out the whole process Dr. Singh had been very patient, caring, and helpful. The front desk staff were also very friendly at the office. I would highly recommend Dr. Singh, because he is someone who had gone extra miles for the well-being of a homeless cat and me, an anxious new cat guardian. I'm grateful that Dr. Singh was my cat's doctor while we lived in the area.

We love this vet! I've been to Sunnyvale Veterinary Clinic three times, and each time they've been great. The front office staff, the vet techs, the vets (even the vets who are "subbing" for a day) are all GREAT. Everyone is super sweet, and they obviously love love LOVE animals. Of the two times I've taken Izzie in, one of those visits was for grooming. I didn't get to meet the groomer, due to my schedule, but he did a great job. Izzie seemed to have enjoyed her time away being groomed and adored, which is amazing because normally she needs to have either her dad or me in her sights at ALL TIMES. The next time I went in with Puggles all the staff talked about how much they all fell in love with Izzie during her day of grooming, and were equally doting of Puggles. I cannot say enough great things about everyone there!

Their prices are reasonable. I was especially impressed with how affordable grooming is! This is the place to take your animals if you want them to be well looked after, and adored by someone who loves animals just as much as you do.

Sunnyvale Veterinary is not the place to take your rat.
I took my rat with a benign mammary tumor to this clinic, and the doctor gave it only a cursory glance, before trying to sell me unnecessary services, offering to spay my rat for a grand total of over $600. Even without this unnecessary operation, the tumor removal, a routine operation for rats, would have cost much more than normal, and they wanted to make me wait a week. I went to their competitors instead, and had it done the same day and much cheaper.

We have two pet rats, and Sunnyvale Vet Clinic has been fantastic for us! Dr. Singh is familiar with rodents - not all vets are. We had rodents with stuffy noses in January, and I stressed out since a little chest congestion in rodents is a big deal. They managed to see us the next day after Dr. Singh responded very quickly to my email questions. Our one rat was not too keen on the idea of being picked up by a stranger in a strange place, but Dr. Singh was very patient and eventually succeeded in listening to his breathing.

A few months later, one of the rats broke a claw and started bleeding (it seemed like everywhere, though I'm sure it looked worse than it really was). I called Sunnyvale Vet Clinic, spoke with a very calming, friendly vet tech who said they'd be able to see the rats that day if I could drop them off. My fiance picked them up on their way home from work, just fine. The people at the clinic paid attention to them and gave the rats some of the treats we left as well.

The Clinic is currently undergoing renovation and expansion. It looks like it's going to be great once it's all done.

I have to agree with the woman who had to have her cat muzzled.  My cat is known around the neighborhood as the "cool" cat.  Everyone loves him and he has never freaked out at the vet - until I came here.  I'm not sure why, but they made him nervous, then he got difficult and they tried to muzzle him.  He fought to the bitter end and they made me take him home without being examined.  Also, I felt like they were a bunch of hypochondriacs wanting me to medicate him before getting to the root of the problem.  He had a patch of fur missing in his armpit and I thought it had to do with the heat (it was in the summer) but they insisted that it had to be something else like depression or something he got from another cat (even though he was an indoor cat at the time.)  I took him home after the "muzzle incident", and kept an eye out on the spot.  As soon as it cooled off, his fur came back.

Since then, I've taken him to other vets and he just sits there while being examined.

This place has outstanding service to their clients. This past weekend, Oliver and I spent a whole 30 minutes just with Dr. Singh. Not only was he thorough with his examination, he even gave me alternative suggestions to my anti-meds attitude for Oliver's ear infections and allergies. He was polite, understanding, and upfront. No Bull Sh*tting here like some Docs that may milk you for your benjamin's. I respect that! The front desk is friendly and caring. They've called me before my appointments to remind me, and after my appointments to check up on Oliver and how he's doing. My own doctor won't even do that with ME!
Everyone knows that having a pet means $$$. But it you want the best care for your money, come visit these folks. You'll be in great hands.

Love Dr. Singh! Love Dr. Wright! Love all of the staff...Leah, Bron, Christine....everyone is so caring and have given my two cats the care that they need. They know us by name and I feel like they always have my cats' best interest at heart. I have referred several friends to this clinic and even though I have moved 20 miles South, I still come here!

Five stars, no joke. This place is as good as everyone says. And it's all about the NICE. I mean, how do I know a good vet from a bad one (especially when my dog isn't broken and is just going in for a check-up)? Answer: I don't. So for me, the choice of a vet boils down to who treats their customers well. And these guys get it. They showered my dog with love and pets and oohs and ahhs from the moment we walked in the door. Then they inspected her thoroughly, asked me lots of questions about her, fed her treats when she appeared nervous, and made appropriate small talk with my husband and son. It was great. If you've got pooch problems I wholeheartedly recommend checking these guys out--they'll do you right.

Simple reason why I'm giving it two stars:  It cost $500 for four X-rays and an exam plus pain meds for my cat.

$500.

That is OUTRAGEOUS, and I wish I'd walked out the second I heard that amount.

The care was decent and the reception staff was kind, courteous and helpful.  My cat chipped his pelvis, so I paid $500 to hear "do what you've been doing and keep him off his feet."   Dr. Wright was competent, but I was underwhelmed by the experience.

I would go back if this were half the cost.

[edited to add]
I should've updated with this much sooner, but anyways.  It turns out that the radiologist wasn't even on staff when I had my cat x-rayed, so the results they gave me were wrong.  Once the x-ray was actually, properly looked at, they called my boyfriend two weeks after the initial appointment (note they did not call me, the person who actually brought in the cat) to tell him that it was merely a sprain, not a break.  My cat was miserable and locked in a crate for two weeks because I thought his hip was broken even though he looked better, and now I find out it was for no reason.

I recently got a new puppy and brought her here for a checkup and her second round of puppy vaccines.  My appointment was for 9am on a Friday, and I arrived promptly with my forms filled out in hand (they have all their forms online which I find very helpful).  In the next 15 minutes, while I waited patiently in the waiting room, two people dropped off their animals for procedures that day.  Then I was shown into an exam room.

In the exam room, I waited about another 10 minutes before anyone even came in to see me!  The hospital didn't appear to be busy, and there wasn't any ruckus suggesting any emergencies that morning.  At least it gave me time to notice how clean and organized everything was.

The tech then came in and chatted with us for a few minutes while getting the weight and temperature of my pup.  Then Dr. Singh came in and did the exam, and answered all of my questions sweetly and thoroughly.  He even filled out a little form with a timeline of things to do for puppies and notes on stuff we had chatted about that I got to take home.

Overall, the staff was VERY nice and the prices are totally reasonable (I know this because I was a vet tech for the past 3 years)... $150 for the pup exam, ear cytology (looking at an ear slide to diagnose an ear infection), ear flush and ear medication, and two vaccines.  Pets cost money, people, there is just no way around it!

I highly recommend Sunnyvale Vet, but just make sure you have time to wait.

I don't have a clue as to what  "reasonable" pricing is when it comes to pet health care, as spending over $1000. so far for my 4 month old puppy has simply been repressed under the memories of me harassing my boyfriend for four years straight to buy a dog (despite the sternwarnings of time-consumption, exorbitant vet bills, and endless poop-scoops).

So all I can base my review on is my experience here. It is a small practice, it feels very personal when you walk in (not like you're stepping into an animal equivalent of a hospital), and the entire staff lavishes my puppy with endless affection and kisses.

The building is old, but they are beginning renovations shortly, so I think the overall appearance and environment will improve in a few months. Yet, I don't think the current equipment or facility hinders their medical practice.

Zoe has seen Dr. Wright and Dr. Singh so far (about five or six visit so far?).  They are both very professional and appear concerned with the well-being of your furry friend.  Zoe always felt relaxed and friendly with both of them, even after they stuck a thermometer up her butt.

I don't know if they really try to "hawk meds" to their patients, I have been recommended several products from their little store at the front of the clinic, but I never feel pressured to buy it  (they always tell me how much everything is FIRST before I buy it, thank you!), because honestly, you can get most cheaper online or at a pet store (but do your research first, and don't skimp on cheap versions!).

UPDATE** I love this place and am bumping them up to five stars.  My puppy recently broke four bones in her metacarpal, where she literally had to get x-rays and her splint changed close to every week. Dr. Singh was so thorough in his treatment, and his vet technicians and staff are equally wonderful. For awhile, the splint kept coming off, and once she got a bunch of poop up in it (have no idea how), I felt so bad coming back over and over but they were very understanding and didn't charge us for the re-casting. Zoe's foot has recovered perfectly and she can happily bounce off the walls again. Thank you so much Sunnyvale Vet!

After a lot of research on yelp and elsewhere, I took my cat here for her annual checkup ($52 without shots or any medicine or treatments).

The staff is very nice, but there are not separate waiting rooms for cats and dogs. There is a sign asking for all owners to have animals in carriers or leashes, but it isn't really enforced. On the day I was there they were short-staffed and had a couple of emergencies, and it was a Saturday. They were nice and still got me in on time, but the staff kept interrupting the exam to ask Dr. Singh questions about how to bill things, etc. Since an exam is less than 10 minutes, I felt like it could have waited. Also, the room had dust bunnies all over the floor, which ended up on my scared kitty when she explored the room.

Dr. Singh is very good with cats and his techs are also great. He was very gentle and knowledgeable and did everything he could to put my nervous cat at ease, which I appreciated.

I think this would be an ideal clinic if they had separate waiting rooms and more staff. But overall, the service was friendly and my cat was treated well.

EDIT:

Dr Singh sent me the following message, with some really promising news:

Thanks for your honest review on Yelp of our clinic. I am very sorry that your experience was not the best, and I've shared your review with my staff and we've talked about how we can improve. You are right; it is not acceptable for an exam to be interrupted with questions about billing. We've re-trained our staff not to interrupt during exams unless it is a medical emergency. I've also hired several new full-time technicians so that we will hopefully not be caught short-staffed again.

We are also paying extra attention to catching those "dust bunnies" - although we clean daily and have a weekly deep-cleaning service sometimes a few escape. Also, we are in the final design/permits phase of a complete remodel of our clinic, where there will be separate dog and cat waiting rooms. We are excited about this and the other improvements we'll be making to our building, and we hope our clients will like them too.

Can't say enough good things about these folks.  I have an ugly little mutt with a foul disposition and mean temper but they treat him like Rex the Wonder Dog every time we come in.  The doctors are thorough, compassionate and patient beyond any realistic expectation.  They tolerate every silly question and concern I might have and moreover they understand that as much as I love this mutt he cant always be the foremost priority in my life either financially or time wise and they react appropriately.

The staff and techs are equally skilled, friendly and always welcome my dog back even though he has bitten or tried to bite most of them.  A couple other reviewers have mentioned the facilities are a little older and look it but for me that's a plus, they have been around awhile because they care and do a good job not because they have the fanciest facilities.

They even call from time to time to check on my pet's well being and actually listen when I tell them.  If I had any complaint it would be that I have had to wait longer then I felt I should with an appt a couple times but that pales in comparison to the overall excellence.

Highly recommended!

Staff is very friendly and kind to our dog.  We have visited several times since we got our puppy and their services are very affordable.  We have seen all of the doctors at the facility and sometimes wonder why they all seem to have conflicting opinions about our dog's medical issues.  That concerns me sometime.  However, overall they have been very friendly and helpful.

If you want your pet to be adored, take them here. I have a cute dog but put her in tight quarters with strange people and she becomes demonic. They still thought she was cute even though she was clawing her way up to the ceiling by way of climbing all over them.  She's been banned from grooming at PetCo, but they actually trimmed her boomerang toe (the nail grows quickly right into the pad, it's curved), without me asking and charging for it. I like the front desk staff and the vets. They don't push certain types of products or foods. They will sit and talk with you and go over everything you can think of.
It's expensive but all vets are.

Dr. Raj Singh is excellent!  The staff is very kind and very considerate.  They obviously love animals!  My dog had terrible dirreah....we were up all night with her.  She was in terrible pain.  Dr. Singh did a very through exam on her, diagnosed her illness and gave me a prescription which cured her in ONE DAY!  The price was very reasonable as well.

There is a woman doctor at this clinic as well.  I took one of my dogs in for an exam and she recommended teeth cleaning which would cost anywhere from $500 to $1081.  This was ridiculus.   My dogs teeth and gums are in excellent condition.

So, I recommend Dr Raj Singh..and I will always take my dogs to him!

As some of you know I also had a nightmare with Adobe. The staff and doctors are top notch at Sunnyvale Veterinary Clinic. I feel much better about the care my animals are receiving. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE has been great and it really shows that they love animals.

I feel it is time to update my review. I have been bringing a bunny (as well as all of the other animals) to Dr. Singh for over a year and at every point he has always explained to me what is going on and has always been compasionate to our bunny as well as myself. He is very understanding and will bend over backwards to acomadate your needs. I only wish my doctor was as good as Dr. Singh.

We had a terrible time finding a good vet.  Poor attitude towards owners and the pets, over-priced and unnecessary treatment, bad treatment ... you name it, we found it.

On a recommendation from a friend we went to see Dr. Raj Singh at Sunnyvale Veterinary Clinc. We were shocked at how great Dr. Singh and his entire staff are.  Dr. Singh is great with the dogs ... and with nervous owners.  We lost our dachshund to cancer in 2004 but Dr. Singh was a great comfort to us through the whole ordeal.

We've since adpoted two dogs and we wouldn't dream of taking them to anyone other than Dr. Singh.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place.  Wouldn't dream of taking my cat anywhere else.

Upon the recommendation of a friend, I took my kitten here for his first set of vaccines.  I've been back several times, for nail-clipping, vaccines, and exams, and have been very pleased.

I've seen Dr. Hensley and Dr. Wright, both of whom I highly recommend.  Very nice, very patient and good-natured.  All of the staff, receptionists, vet techs love animals, and that is evident with their caring nature.

I've never had to wait more than a few minutes to see a Vet, and I get follow-up calls from the staff to see how my cat is doing after his appointments.  Oh, and they're open on Saturdays, which is a HUGE plus for me. =)

I can't recommend Sunnyvale Veterinary Clinic enough.

I went to Sunnyvale Veterinary Clinic because of the good reviews on Yelp and I'm so glad I did.

The staff was very friendly and the clients in the waiting room went out of their way to tell me how much they liked the clinic and had been going there over the decades. I listened to the techs talk to the other clients and they all treated everyone very nicely.

My cats were extremely difficult, growling and hissing the whole time, and the tech and Dr. Moore were both very nice about it and managed to dodge lunging open jaws without batting an eye.

The doctor addressed me like an intelligent person, which I always appreciate.

I took my cat here in his last days after getting only fair care at the upscale vet we'd been seeing.  That vet did all the expensive tests but dithered on diagnoses.  The folks at Sunnyvale squeezed us in as an emergency.  Dr. Singh gave us very attentive treatment and made an accurate diagnosis of the problem and the prognosis.

They don't have all the fancy equipment they have at Adobe, but the quality of care was excellent.  They called periodically to check on the "cat even though I hadn't called them, and they even sent a sympathy card after my cat died.

I recommend them highly.

Edit a month later:  I received a letter from the Companion Animal Memorial Fund at UC Davis;  Sunnyvale Veterinary Clinic has made a donation in memory of my cat.  This fund supports research into "problems that confront small domestic animals such as dogs, cats, birds, exotic pets and others."  I can't say enough good things about the folks at this veterinary practice.

I discovered this place through the yelp reviews and I must say it is even better than the reviews stated.  After one visit, my husband and I immediately stopped going to Adobe and began going to SVC.  Everyone, from the 2 vets to the secretaries are caring and warm.  The whole place has that homey and accepting mid-western attitude and feel.  They are clean and take their time with your pet.  Their love for animals shows.  This place did the most thorough basic annual exam I have ever seen and it was good because they discovered a cyst in one of my pets that Adobe had never found.  We love this place so much that we leave our pets there when we are away on trips.  When we pick them up, they are calm and relaxed.  It was clear they had a good time and were comfortable.  We even stopped taking them to our regular groomer and now have SCV do that too.  It should be said that this place is a bit of a distance from where we live.  We drive far for the service because that's how great this place is.

This place is the best! They truly care about animals. On our first visit, everyone was very welcoming and they gave us good information and gave a demo on how to clean our floppy eared puppy.  Dr. Singh and all the staff were so nice. They did not push products on us, but had products to buy in house which was very convenient for us. They also do boarding for their clients which was a lifesaver because our dog needed boarding when he was a puppy and couldn't go to other places because of his age.

I debated two or three stars, but the negative wins out:

I took my cats here after finding reviews on Yelp.  I had recently moved and they were scratching, and I wanted to have them checked for mites and fleas.
The staff was very friendly, and it seemed from what I observed that the customers were very loyal.
The vet I saw seemed very knowledgable and gave me lots of pointers (we didn't find fleas or mites) on what to watch out for health-wise with their scratching.

The reason I would NEVER take my cats back there is this: one of my cats was very uncooperative about being examined.  He sometimes hisses at the vet but is declawed and has never attacked anyone.  The tech trying to weigh him and get his temperature was obviously overwhelmed by my cat, and went to get a second tech.  They then tried to muzzle him, which made my cat more angry.  Again, he did not bite or scratch, but I thought the techs' manner and approach to my cat was all wrong.  I happened to see the tech write in his chart to use caution with my cat, who still had not done anything.
When the vet came to examine him, she was also a little skittish, and could barely approach him with a tongue depressor.  You'd think my cat was Attila the Hun the way they acted.  I thought this was terrible.

Also, this place is pricey: for the exam, one ear culture, and a month's supply of Advantage, it was over $200.
