Dr. Dhawan is great. I have been his patient for 11 years and he, like the other reviewer (Sonja) says, doesn't start you out on anything too heavy, but tries the gentlest then moves up in the arsenal. He is very conservative with his treatment plans, which is a good thing for you!
He answers all questions you might have and never makes you feel like you are a bother to him, like some doctors who rush you out!
The office staff, however, in Fremont is a different story, alas.
Dermatologist (Skin specialist) and an Amazing Doctor:
I have been a patient of Dr. Sunil Dhawan for two years now. I see him once in two to four months. He is very nice and caring. He will not chat too much and might come across as slightly reserved but he is a fine doctor. His treatments work very well. He will give you the mildest possible formula first and then if it suits your skin, he moves up--once things start improving he moves back to a milder form.
I have chronic adult acne but I have been mostly clear for the last two years. What is best is that unlike other doctors he did not give me oral antibiotics (that mess up your stomach) and did not make me go through constant extractions. I still have some black heads and I get good facials that will take 'em off. My skin has also started tolerating a wide range of products compared to two years ago.
I've been a patient of Dr Dhawan's for about 16 years.
He has a big practice and had closed to new patients several years ago but he's so nice that I think he's opened to new patients once again. He has a great beside manner; they always book multiple patients into the same time slot (kinda annoying) but he will take the time to patiently answer any questions you have.
Big plus - they have 2 estheticians on staff and their nurses perform acne surgery [they'll pop your pimples (sometimes with a blade) so that you don't get scars].
