Recently tried the Sun Break Cafe after having it suggested to us by a couple of friends.  We will be back, probably again and again.
I had an asparagas omlette and thankfully decided to go with the half  order.  I would not have come close to finishing the six egg whole order version.  The bannana bread that came with my breakfeast was incredible, it could have doubled as a dessert.  My wife had the Monte Cristo sandwich and loved it.  The service was also very good and even though there was a little bit of a line, we were seated quickly.
I would suggest this place to anyone for a great breakfeast

This place is always super busy, so chances are you'll have to wait in line or sit there twiddling your thumbs for an hour. BUT the food is awesome - really well made "from scratch" stuff. Hence it always being packed.

HORRIBLE...HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED

My review is about the staff and how they treat handicapped customers.  I am not handicapped but this is a story of what I witnessed.
I sat near a table with two ladies, both clearly had some sort of handicap.  I listened as they ordered breakfast and as one was describing her egg as, "well the white done and yolk runny" male waiter very impatient cutting them off etc.  The ladies struggling to explain but the male waiter cut them off again and said got it and quickly walked away.  Food came and egg was clearly over hard!  When one lady tried to get assistance she was responded to with what now?!?!?  Staff started whispering how much trouble these two ladies were.  One went to sepak to the owner and he exhaled stating, "I'm VERY busy right now"  the lady returned to her table crying.  It was so sad to see their order all messed up and no one would help these.  Their coffee cups remained emprt while mine got refilled frequently.  I am asked how are things and as soon as I mentioned I would like to talk about those ladies, this male waiter says, oh those tards need to get a life eh?  I was shocked, got up, paid my bill and I vow to never ever go there again.
These ladies were trembling and mis treated because simply they had a mental condition.  Because they were handicapped, the waiter nor owner would even listen.  It was sickening...
The food is ok but nothing like I would have expected.  This was my first visit and last...Those ladies sat there the entire time and no one offered more coffee or a box..NOTHING.  It was heartbreaking and I am sure this is not the only restaurant that treats metally handicapped people bad but to witness this was sick!

Unless you speak without a studder, stay away...The owner did not care to hear from the other lady nor would he talk to me later on the telephone.

Life is filled with choices and one thing I can control is where I spend my money and it won't be there!

I tried... really.

I failed... utterly.

I could not, would not, did not get more than an inch of coffee out of my cup!

8 times... maybe more... one of the two servers came darting past with a smile and a carafe!

The young gentleman was rooting us on to finish the HUGE portions with every pass by the table... it was like having a personal coffee filled cheerleader.

Now I don't want you to think that they are loud... or obnoxious... they were neither... they were witty and swift and made the tourist-y family with 2 small kids laugh and the 6 top filled with dozing construction  workers smile.

In the summer the early mornings are filled with softball and basketball youth leagues either getting ready for a game or celebrating... this seemed like a perfect season to try and get a seat on the weekend.

Normal wait time is ~30min... but there are newspaper boxes out front so there is always reading material close by.

Unfortunately the little bakery to the right just inside the front door has closed.  There were loaves of bread for sale that had been trucked in that morning from another location... but it was sad not to smell those wonderful ovens.

I'm not really a sammich boy, but this place is good.

They have great big sammiches and soups.  It gets really crowded and sometimes it takes awhile to get through the line and find a place to sit and eat, but it's worth it.  I've never had breakfast or anything, but I'm sure the standards are high.

If your day isn't going so well, stop in and get some action.  It will turn your mood around.

I've lived in Auburn for 8 years now, and have been to Sun Break 3 times, each time I vow never to go back.  I think I've given them their last chance.

It's not that it's BAD, it's just not that good.  I mean, you don't have to work hard to make a pretty good breakfast, and this is just sub-par.  The flavors are blah, the presentation (seen the sausage gravy? ick) is not appealing, it's just really not that great.

Last trip, I had a scramble with sausage, ham and lots of veggies.  It was buried in cheese, too much.  The sausage was very fatty but the veggies were done well.  Not something I'd want to eat again.  My wife had french toast.  Again, not bad, but really, if you want 3 or more stars, it better make me go "Wow, that was really good french toast."

Don't go here expecting a fabulous breakfast, go here expecting to not hate it.

pricey. ate a half order of some omelette (a while ago) and a plate of 2-3 pancakes.. bill came out almost $20.. way toooo steep for b/fast. i was feeling some pancakes but cannot order a single pancake so had to get the set... thus the price...
anyways, wait was about 15-20 at that time and the waiters are very swift.. good job on that.. food wise.. a-o-k.. i rather beth's cafe in seattle or pete's eggs nest...

The perfect stop to fill up before heading to a day at the ponies.  Portions are HUGE I tell you HUGE and filling and everything is fresh.  This omelets are amazing and be smart and only order a half because even a half is enough to feed a giant.  The biscuits are square the gravy has somewhat of a chicken flavor to it but it works and will stick to your ribs all day I tell you. Their bacon is delish and their eggs are always cooked to order.  The muffins are fresh and delicious and so is the banana bread you can't go wrong with anything on the menu, except maybe the omelet that had celery in it, who puts celery in an omelet?!?!?  That's just crazy talk to this girl who hates celery.

Consider yourself warned, when you get there you get in line and wait and wait and wait, there's no taking of the names here you just wait in line and keep moving up as people are seated.  If you plan on meeting friends here for breakfast make sure everyone has arrived by the time you get to the head of the line because they won't seat you until you're whole party is there.

Is the food worth the wait I'd have to say yes, is the food worth a special trip to Auburn, I'd have to say no unless a trip to Emerald Downs is involved.

I suppose my husband and I qualify as 'regulars' for coming so often.  The wait staff are incredibly friendly and are always prompt (or as prompt as they can be with every table full and a line out the door).  The owner is usually seen on sight and will stop to refill your coffee and see how your meal is.  The full orders are enough to share.  If you're in a hurry for a meal, this is not the place for you.  If you enjoy a lazy brunch with endless coffee refills, it is worth the wait.  You're not going to get a fancy breakfast, but you will get something tasty and hearty.

Large groups wait to get seated (two people can often pass many 4+ person groups and get seated early in smaller tables).  Weekdays are generally no wait (Breakfast is ended at 11am and delicious fresh-made deli sandwiches are served).  Weekends are breakfast only.  Go before 8am or after 10am to avoid the biggest waits (though you generally have a 10-20 minute wait in line on the weekends just to sit).

If you have a hankering for an amazing breakfast, I would definitely point you in the direction of Sun Break Cafe!  It is SUPER delicious!  The portions are Huge, and everything tastes SO good! mmm....it makes me hungry just thinking about it!  Don't leave there without their homemade banana bread, it is to die for! It almost puts me in a buttery blissful coma.

Please do not be discouraged by the very long line when you get there.  It is well worth the wait, and the entire staff buzzes around getting the tables turned as fast as possible!

You will love the Sun Break Cafe!!!! Make sure when you get the address online that it says SW and NOT NW or you'll end up in a vacant parking lot, if you're not familiar with Auburn!

Happy Breakfast!

The only reason I'm not giving Sun Break 5 stars is the decor.  Maybe it's nitpicky of me, but the place has almost no character.  It smacks of a minimally remodeled Denny's or IHOP...or maybe even that of a Luby's Cafeteria.  An interior overhaul would go a LONG way into turning this place into more of a breakfast destination.

Now that my one issue is out of the way, I have nothing but good things to say about the food (portions and quality are excellent), coffee (fresh tasting and strong), and waitstaff (friendly, fast and efficient).  Reasonably priced menu, with funny, sassy commentary alongside some of the items. I ordered one of the veggie scrambles and my companion ordered the biscuits and gravy.  The latter could also be described as gravy with a side of biscuits as the order arrived as a large plate full of gravy with 2 square biscuits smack dab in the middle.  Very tasty, just be forewarned that gravy stinginess ain't happening here!

The crowd this Sunday morning was very diverse around 10AM.  Everyone from retirees, young people, yuppies, and the heavily pierced/tattooed looked to be having a good breakfast here at Sun Break.

Okay seriously,  this is hands down the best breakfast place in South King County.

The food is great.  The bacon is the best.  The portions are off the chain.

The service is amazing.  Bruce can tell you within about exactly how long it's going to take you to get in.  Once your in service is smokin.

I have eaten here at least 50 times and taken new people often.  Everyone of these folks can attest to how excellent the overall breakfast experience is.

Tess and Chris as well as all the staff are top notch.  And they really love where they work.

If you don't like Sunbreak then please tell me where there is better breakfast in South King County.  I defy someone to tell me where.  Better breakfast does not exist in the south end.

The omelette's are awesome! Our fav is the asparagus omelette with holandaise sauce. Pancakes are well done but still fluffy. The banana bread and  bran muffin are also awesome.  We are definitely going back!

If you're looking for a great breakfast restaurant with huge portions and low prices, this is the place! The Sun Break in Auburn is the place where the long wait in line is definitely worth it. HUGE and I do mean HUGE portions are their thing. I have ordered the Eggs Benedict (full order), the Turkey, Broccoli and Mushroom scramble, all meat omlete, the pancakes and french toast & barely finished half the plate. Lots of hash browns with your order and your choice of muffin or banana bread. The muffins are great but definitely try their banana bread! It rocks! Bottomless coffee, tea and soft drinks and great service. This place should be on your "must go to" list of places to visit and dine at. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

This place gives you portions large enough to feed two. The banana bread is heavenly-served warm with a dollup of butter. A great place to take the family for Sunday breakfast. Just be sure to get there before nine to avoid the line.

The breakfast here is AMAZING.  I promise, it is worth waiting in that long line on a Saturday morning to eat here.  There is no hangover cure quite like it.  I almost always get the all-together scramble and it's the best.  All the ingredients are fresh, crisp and delicious.  Don't order a full portion of anything unless you want a ton of leftovers.  The banana bread and muffins are soooooooo moist and tasty.  I am drooling a little already.  I haven't yet made it out here for lunch but I bet they are good, too.  Cute place to come for breakfast/brunch with family.

Amazing breakfasts of ENORMOUS proportions! Best bacon you will ever have and it takes a lot to get me to eat pork. Their sandwiches are decent, not as amazing as the breakfast at all. But  after all, breakfast is what they are famous for!!

Wow...I bought a can of ChefMate country gravy at Costco so I could feed my son's boyscout troup on an overnight hike and they serve the same stuff here for their biscuits and gravy...I feel I'm a very good judge since that's what I always order when I go out for breakfast and this WAS canned like someone else wrote...don't eat this here...and the coffee is WEAK. other than the company I had, it was a very forgetable breakfast.

This place is a gem.  I've taken groups of high school students here twice a year for many years and have always had consistent great food and service.  The kids wouldn't think of skipping "the sandwich place" part of the trip.  The folks at the Sunbreak deal politely and efficiently with the rush of the group, and always stop by the table to ask how the kids are doing.  I have only eaten breakfast here a couple times, but both times it's been good.  As others  have mentioned, the portions are very big, so plan to eat a lot or take some home with you.  A bit on the pricey side, but worth it.
