My wife and I really enjoy the sushi options from Sumo Sushi. It's our local go to place for sushi.

Some of the worst sushi I've ever had. The miso soup tasted odd, the crunch in my one roll was very stale and the deep fried roll tasted burnt. Very cheap but you get what you pay for a guess. Not to mention the seats were extremely uncomfortable and the music was very loud. The staff however was very kind and accommodating. But I won't be returned.

Sumo must stand for Sushi Unlike Most Opponents because the portion to price ratio will knock your socks off. I mean, hot damn, are they even turning a profit here? Goliath-sized portions will ensure leftovers the following day!
Three of us dined in this past Sunday night. We were cold and craving luscious sushi. The restaurant reminds me of an Avondale sushi hot spot. Cozy and quaint, with two TV's for viewing pleasure. Our server was prompt and polite.
I was pleased when I discovered the Maki Combination I ordered came with Miso Soup and Ginger Salad. The former was kind of underwhelming, considering hot soup on a cool night is #goals. Miso Soup is generally plain, but this was just bland. Ginger Salad redeemed itself - the dressing was spot on!
Onto the main event: All of our sushi plates were wonderfully presented. My tablemates enjoyed their specialty rolls more than I did. Maybe I ordered off the basic bae menu? They were all middle of the road in my opinion. Plus, I didn't receive any of the spicy goodness that was promised.
I'm no sushi connoisseur by any means, but as far as my experience was concerned, it was just good. As mentioned, the prices are incredibly affordable. If I return, I'd stick with the specialty rolls or adventure over to their stir fry or lo mein options.Helpful 12Thanks 0Love this 10Oh no 0 - Nov 13, 2018
Hello Yelpers!! It's been a while since I treated myself. Sometimes work takes over and you have to break free...so I paid a visit to this little place in the Riverside area. To my surprise is looks like they remodeled. It room is alot brighter, opened, and of course very clean. I started by ordering the sweet potato sushi and some fried gyozas. I was very surprised by how good the rolls tasted. For entree we had the chicken habachi which comes with a choice of clear or miso soup, salad, and habachi with chicken, veggies, and fried rice. The portions are huge and the prices were really great. I have to say the food was very good.

My favorite things about Sumo are that it's never too busy, the food is delicious, and their prices are reasonable. This is the perfect spot for a date night. The food comes out so quick! I go here so often the owner has memorized my order hahaha I love Sumo
