This was intended as a kitschy stop for "Route 66" labeled bottles of vino to send home to my parents in Sonoma County.
Instead, we were delighted by the wines here! We've had some wines in New Mexico that were terrible, unfortunately.. so our expectations were not high.
The Dam Red was about $16 and a Raspberry Riesling was about $12. We decided to ship both, which made things a bit more expensive, but worth it, as we did not want to haul around more things in our trunk or heat up the vino too much.
Everyone was so sweet here, our server explained to us how on Sundays they can still serve "tastes" but cannot serve a "glass" of wine. They CAN, however, serve a "tall taste" which as our server demonstrated, is no different than a glass of wine. They can also sell you a bottle of wine, provide you with a corkscrew and glasses but cannot uncork it for you. This is all on Sundays, so if you're attracted to the drama and complication, go then. Otherwise, it's pretty simple here.
If you're used to wines in California, you might find that these wines are not as complex. They're definitely drinkable and a great souvenir.
