We love Summerland Beach Cafe.  Been coming here for years.  They have the biggest and best breakfasts anywhere.  The service is good and fast.  The coffee is strong.  The potatoes are "to die for".  The owner is the best!!!
Even if you have to wait a bit they have coffee out on the weekends and besides, Summerland has the best weather for just hanging out.
After breakfast you can cross the street and go to Botanik.  They have the best succulents and orchids and many great gifty things to purchase.
When you leave you can cross the railroad tracks to Lookout Park.  One of the best beaches in the area.
So....what are you waiting for??????

If you are there for breakfast, try the thick-cut bacon, eggs Benedict, steel cut slow cooked oatmeal, light & delicate waffles topped with fresh fruit or a world famous three egg omelet.   For lunch, I can't decide between the juicy burgers, sandwiches, salads or barbecued chicken tacos (messy, but good). If you need low cholesterol meals, there is plenty on the menu for you as well

Definately a good stop.

It's a cute restaurant off the 101 where they seat you on pinic benchs under umbrellas surrounded by flowers. It's a cozy place with good food. We came here for brunch, though we all ended up getting beakfast. The OJ was fresh and yummy. I orded the two-two-two (something like that) that came with 2 pieces of french toast, bacon, and eggs. The french toast was way yummy with great cinnamon and sugar flavors. The bacon was thick cut and crunch. My other friends order other dishes which also looked so yummy. The dish were quite big so there's was plenty of food for 2 to split.

It was sunny and warm that day and sitting outside was great!

Went here on our way to San Francisco. Restaurant is right off the 101. It has a great selection of breakfast. You can either choose to eat really junky or healthy and I like how you get to choose. The menu is what I found most interesting, it had a story about etiquette which was entertaining.

This is a restaurant that once was a beach house; on a knoll just off the 101 and it's worth your while to stop there on your way to Santa Barbara. Or that's the case for me. Definitely worth it. Altho the interior entrance space made me feel constrained, I easily forgave & forgot, immediately greeted by a host who promised prompt seating. And he WAS prompt.

Must say I think (now, with my crit-cap on) too little care was placed on the interior (has a general awkwardness even beyond the entry); gotta knock off one star for this lapse. But the food was good, coffee, good, and the service, extraordinary: all the people working there have energy, knowledge of the menu, and just ooze hospitality.

And this Summerland Beach Cafe is in a town called SUMMERLAND!

Is there a song about this town? Is this town also a state-of-mind?

Hey it's July. I'm in "Summerland", whereever I am.

Great breakfast!  It's been awhile, but I think it speaks true testament that I have Summerland Beach Cafe stored in my phone.  When my friends are driving from Cerritos to Santa Barbara this is our breakfast stop.  I'll call them probably when we're 30 minutes to our destination and call in for a reservation.  From what I remember, the crab egg's benedict was DELICIOUS!!!!  MMMMMMM!!!!!  Also!!!  Just food for thought!  When you order the waffles with either fruit or the banana sugar sauté monstrosity!!  Get that madness on the side to save you from your soggy waffles!!!

Exit on Evans Avenue on the 101 Freeway. This place is worth the 90 mile drive. I had the Summerland Ranch Hand Special, with a full slice of Smoked Ham, Bacon, a Sausage Patty and three Scrambled Eggs. See picture! My companions had the Waffles.

The Waffles are huge, toasty on the outside and soft and tasty on this inside. Topped with Bananas, Strawberries and Maple Syrup.

Just got to sample the place, a little pit stop on the highway of life.

Coffee was very good, people were nice, and the sun will always smile on you.

Or something like that.

Looking forward to the grand tour.

We stopped at Summerland based on a recommendation from my friend's mom.  We were carvaning up to Paso Robles for a weekend of wine tasting with my good friends.  Summerland was the perfect pit stop for a bite to eat.  It's just off the 101 and the little town is so cute with little shops and antique stores.

If it's a nice day, sit outside and soak up the sun.  Most of us ordered breakfast and it came in large quantities and it all looked yummy.  I ordered a turkey sandwich and it was ok, but I'm such a turkey sandwich snob.  I cannot stand compressed turkey meat and neglected to ask the server if it was real turkey or compressed.  Still, the sandwich was ok.  Next time, I'll choose to go with breakfast.

Fast, friendly service with excellent food?  I'm so there.

I got their Crabby Bill's Benedict and opted for a small seasonal fruit platter instead of their coleslaw or fries at no additional charge.  I was expecting just a few pieces of fruit but instead, I was pleasantly surprised with a good sized selection of strawberries, banana pieces, cantaloupe, oranges and grapefruit.  All the fruits were not only in season but sweet.  Yum!!

But the crab benedict!!  Omg, the crab benedict!!  It was soooo good.  In fact, I am seriously considering driving back all the way from LA just to eat this.

Another reason why I love this place?  The back of the menu features a full page article on proper table etiquette.  Nice!

The only thing that made me sad?  They're not open for dinner.  They're open for breakfast and lunch only.  I considered my dinner options as I munched away on my fruit and then decided to get something from here to go and have that for dinner.  I got their grilled Mahi Mahi tacos.  3 tacos for $9 (that's one of their Monday-Friday specials).  I kept it in my mini refrigerator and ate it a few hours later.  It was still good even when it was cold.

I can't wait to come back to eat my way through their menu.

On a trip up to Paso Robles, my wife, some friends and I stopped here for a quick bite around lunchtime. First off, this sleepy beach town is beautiful,  a perfect stop during a long road trip. If we ever travel this way again, we'll probably stop here again just because of the environment.

This cozy beach home turned cafe was lively, busy but not overcrowded on a Friday afternoon. They have both indoor and patio seating. We opted for the sun despite a chilly wind.

Since none of us had eaten breakfast, we all went that route. I can't remember what everyone had, but everyone enjoyed their meal. I got my typical waffle and egg combo because I'm on a quest to find the perfect waffle. This was pretty damn close to perfect. The waffle was soft on the inside with perfectly crispy edges, scrambled eggs cooked as if I made them myself, and the coffee perfect.

In short, if Summerland Beach Cafe was in Long Beach, I wouldn't eat breakfast anywhere else.

Why all the great reviews? This place is a step up from Denny's, and I was disappointed after having eaten here, and felt mislead by my fellow Yelpers.

The omelets are merely a thin egg layer wrapped around sauteed veggies. The scrambles are sub-par. The "daily homemade muffin" tasted like there were ingredients missing.

On the other hand, service was efficient and friendly. Maybe my table of four just didn't order the right things...but maybe not.

I live in West Covina and make frequent trips to Santa Babs to visit Family. On those trips I make it a point to stop at this little gem both on the way in and the way out for breakfast. (Sometimes Patrick's Roadhouse is the breakfast joint on the way to S.B.)

Sit out on the patio and watch the traffic whiz by and get ready to enjoy.
I've had everything from a simple bowl of oatmeal to Eggs Benedict. And have NEVER been disappointed. I have never had anything other than breakfast foods, so I can't tell you about lunch or dinner.

Quantity is just enough to get you filled and content without feeling all bloated. Since my trips to S.B. are on my Motorcycle, that is a plus.
Ever had a cramp or feel bloated on a stiffly sprung Italian motorcycle? I have...it's not so good.

I recommend the french toast, the eggs Benedict...also available Florentine. And just about anything with bacon. Their bacon is way good....way good. The staff has always been very friendly. And so are the locals. I usually end up in a 20 minute conversation with some older gent about motorcycles or something. And I don't seem to mind it at all.

yum!
stopped for breakfast on a rainy Saturday on the way to wine taste in the SYV. i had a Belgian waffle with sauteed bananas with cinnamon and walnuts. wow - so tasty. and even i couldn't finish it all. the decor is cute and homey. there is a really strange painting in the women's restroom and a little kid staring at you through binoculars that freaked me out. so watch out for that. but all in all, a really tasty place to eat in a seriously adorable town.

We were staying in Santa Barbara and didn't want to go to some tourist trap off of State Street. The Summerland Beach Cafe fit the bill.

About five minutes south of the State Street entrance to 101, the Summerland Beach Cafe was easy and convenient to get to. We got there at 10:00 on a Sunday morning, and we had no problem being seated.

The food was good to boot. I got the french toast, which was awesome. Much to my dismay, however, it came with a plate of fruit. Much too healthy for my liking.

Good times, good food. Free wireless internet, if it so pleases you.

i love this place. it was a very pleasant surprise! my bf and i had a ditch day from work and decided to go for a ride on his bike and grab some brunch. based on yelp reviews we chose the summerland beach cafe. it is adorable. we ordered an omlette and a club sandwich, both were delish!!

portions are a lot bigger than i expected, price isn't bad for what you get, atmosphere is chill, sit outside if you can.

i definitely would go back to this place (all the other customer's plates looked amazingly good, and i would like to try everything!!)...and hope to take my out of town friends here the next time they're in town.

My wife works in Carpinteria. So today, I took her to lunch here. I must say, the half order of Onion Rings was the perfect size for us and were to die for! I had a taste of her turkey burger and It was very good but being the cholesterol addict that I am I had the Sourdough Cheese Burger.Pretty damn good I must say! The have a mustard that i think they make and that made the the burger that much better. Or server was nice and cute by the way.  I cant wait to go by and have some breakfast, that looked very good!

A good place to stop and have breakfast while traveling the 101 just south of Santa Barbara.  Portions are large, the food is fresh and the service is quick and friendly.  Prices are reasonable. The place has history  and atmosphere, so  take time to check out the pictures/paintings.  I'm going back...

One of my favorite spots for breakfast in SB. I used to come here after a night of drinking at the dorms and wake up with a mimosa...hmm I should have realized back then.. anyway, good food. There is always a wait, especially Sunday mornings, but it's never been more than 20mins. Sunny outdoor patio seating or inside, or out in the garden sometimes. The O.P potatoes are amazing! Fresh squeezed OJ is excellent, but pricey. I've enjoyed the biscuits, scrambled eggs, potatoes, and eggs benedict. Friends rave about the Serendipity. I'm sure there are other good spots for breakfast, but for me SBC beats Cajun Kitchen, and Sambo's. Mesa cafe (or Cody's) on the other hand is a rival with cheaper prices.

Great place to grab breakfast in the SB area.  Food is good, views are great.  They even have self-serve coffee while you wait in line (if you didn't call ahead for a group reservation).  Definitely worth a visit.

Not great but not bad either. With more patio space than interior space I recommend heading there on a sunny morning, but be prepared to wait a little while for a table. They have large portions if you are into that sort of thing though I would prefer smaller dishes with more taste. Still, good breakfasts in the SB area are hard to come by and this place offers up decent food with some friendly and fast service.

On our way from Disneyland to SF we wanted to find a good place for breakfast and I was determined to find something that wasn't Denny's! Thanks to my nav system I was able to find the Summerland Beach Cafe. Right off the 101 is this cute converted house that serves the best breakfast ever! I had the french toast / egg combo. The bacon was the best I have ever had. Breakfast potatoes are very yummy. Mom had the croissant sandwich and it looked so good! If you are looking for a small place to grab some awesome food that is easy to get to - try the Summerland Beach Cafe!

This is a fun little place to stop for breakfast off the 101. It is situated in a converted house, and the atmosphere is homey and relaxed. The parking situation is pretty poor if your timing is off, but the tasty breakfast food and friendly service make it worthwhile.

Fantastic place with amazing hang over food and the best orange juice anywhere. I always stop here on my way back to LA from a wild weekend in Isla Vista/Santa Barbara. The portions are huge and the service is wonderful. Its probably a good idea to call ahead because there always seems to be loads of people there. Gorgeous view of the ocean and cute decor.

Great location right off the freeway in tiny Summerland and peacefully out of the hustle and bustle of Santa Barbara. I love funky breakfast restaurants with unique character and this place fits the bill perfectly. The setting in this old 1893 converted Victorian house works well. The service was friendly and efficient. Fresh squeezed OJ is always a great start. The menu was typical breakfast fare with nothing too original, but the overall reports from everyone in our group was that the food was yummy. They are also open for lunch.
