Whenever I go to an Indian restaurant, I am always concerned about the flavors present in the food and how spicy it is. The food of Sultan is definitely not lacking in flavor. Every dish I tried was rich in taste and not unbearably spicy. I particularly recommend the beef samosas and the chicken balti. The chicken balti is similar to your usual chicken curry dish but possesses unique flavors that put it in a league of its own. Amazing!
What I most enjoyed about my experience at Sultan was the service I received. When my friend and I sat down the owner immediately came over and greeted us. Throughout the course of the night, he returned making sure everything was ok with our meal and the service we were receiving.
If you want a nice place for a date or relaxing evening with friends, Sultan is perfect. I've returned numerous times and can say with confidence that theres not a bad thing on the menu!
Spicy ,spicy, spicy!!! Well i'm on training wheels so it was spicy to me.
Damn good onion naan. We had 3 different types and still re-ordered the onion naan.
Had several different curry dishes, vegetable samosas, dancing prawns, all good, all reasonably priced. Lamb wasn't gamey, and everything was spicy :) Really good stuff!
I would almost give this place a 4.5 star cause it was definitely good and man was it cheap. We have a game that we play with my group of friends where at the end of the meal, we try to guess the total bill and yeah, we all guess about $100 over what it came out to be. I mean, it was about $20/person for good Indian food... that's almost unheard of for us.
So we got the lamb dish that starts with a D on the menu... get that, it's freaking good and not gamey at all!!! Then the other usual suspects like chicken tikki masala, spinach and paneer, 3 different kinds of naan, samosa, dancing prawns and some other dishes that I can remember the name of but again, all good. Service was very attentive... I can say that only negative thing if I really had to pick one out was the fact that you only got one refill on the iced tea. Would go back if I'm in the area and want good Indian food at a very reasonable price!!!
Bomb. Bomb. Bomb!
We've all had our share of Indian food, and we all have our favorite restaurants which we rave about. Well... this is mine.
It's not an question of whose Naan is better, or who has the better Tandoori dishes, it really comes down to quality ... and Sultans has it.
Honestly, I have had better -- but that was at some shay shay Indian place where dishes are over priced and the chef only speaks French. Just kidding, I've never been to a place like that.
Anyway, located next to the nasty Naan N' Curry, Sultans has an inviting air about it that is felt the moment you enter.
Dim lightings set the mood for a romantic evening -- it doesn't have to be that way, but that's what I had going on that night. Couples around me were popping bottles of wine -- that seemed a bit unusual for me at an Indian restaurant, but hey, I'm all for the libations.
I opted for a Taj Mahal beer, which paired perfectly with my meal.
I left the ordering of an appetizer up to my date -- he always orders the same thing, so it was great to see his creative juices flow. He ordered these potato croquette things with corn stuffed inside. Mmmmmm... so good. Who doesn't love fried potatoes? Crunchy on the outside, sweet, spicy and fluffy on the inside. We also ordered some spinach cheese stuff. It was good, but not my fave.
With Indian restaurants, you never expect one menu to be much different from the other, so I ordered an old time favorite, Lamb, to see how Sultans stacked-up to my other faves.
I was already impressed by the piping hot food. It's a small nit pick, but the food stayed hott. It is important when you're sharing and dipping, that the temperature surpasses that "I'm full" moment, and still sticks around for the "Just one last bite" moment.
So ... my lamb was great. I ordered it with a rosemary potato naan.
Long story short, I'd go back, and I'd tell all my friends to picket Naan N' Curry (I got sick there once). The prices are reasonable, and the food yummy.
Enjoy.
I happened upon this place as it was in close vicinity to my hotel. The hostess was standing outside the open doors smiling at passers-by. I decided to head inside and give them a little business. They needed it... the restaurant was empty save for a couple sitting off to the side.
I didn't understand why but came to the conclusion that the neighboring Indian restaurant was a huge factor--faster and cheaper. I didn't dine in but opted for take out and after scanning the menu quickly... grabbed a few appetizers, some naan and some lemon basmati.
Everything was awesome! Even after sitting in a take-out container for 10 minutes. The spices were spot on and the flavors were rich and authentic. Nothing about this food was run-of-the-mill and I will definitely hit up Sultan during my next trip to San Francisco.
So when in a hurry for lunch I often hit up Naan n Curry next door. Who doesn't enjoy an already made indian meal with lots of variety. However, I've always taken a sneak peak at Sultan before ducking into there neighboring Indian Food buffet.
WHAT WAS I THINKING?!!?
Sultan is much better quality. $12 for the lunch buffet, drinks not included. However, the variety of dishes offered was very impressive. And a fresh basket of naan delivered to your table. No more trying to pick the piece of naan that is still soft off the buffet table!
Everything I had was very enjoyable, I was especially impressed with the Indian Bread Pudding which was covered in some sort of custardy goodness! I would go back for this alone!
Honestly, wasn't impressed with the service but I don't expect much at a buffet. The food was good and the ambiance was enjoyable.
Came in for dinner before a show around the corner at the Curran with some friends. We gave ourselves exactly an hour to eat which should have been plenty of time. We ended up getting our entrees after about a 25 minute wait (and gap between our drinks and naan) and after having to beg various servers to hurry up so we could get out of there on time. We ended up having about 10 minutes to eat our meals.
FAIL.
Never again.
Came here for dinner. Dinner took almost 2 hours because of incredibly slow, inattentive service.
So why 4 stars? Because I'd have to rate the chicken tikka masala as some of the best I've had in San Francisco. The naan was also really good. The samosas were different than what I'm used to: they were smaller, almost bite-sized. I liked this better than the usual samosa that is huge and falls apart when you try to cut into it to split it. Sad they don't have pakora on the menu, but there was so much food I didn't miss it.
I will definitely be going out of my way to come here when I need my masala fix. I'll just make sure I don't have anywhere I need to be for a couple of hours.
This place is really... not... that.... good... I was very eager to try it based on all the stellar reviews, but was shocked at how not-good it was.
The buffet offerings were very sparse. Simply not a whole lot of choices compared to other Indian buffets. Maybe one meat curry, and two total. And though the interior was sparse, clean, and somewhat upscale and modern, we felt that the flavors just weren't there. At all. It wasn't even mediocre. It was bland Indian food.
I would NEVER go back to this place wtih so many other, much better Indian food places around... particularly in that part of town.
A legit and reasonably priced Indian restaurant in downtown! Holllllllllller.
I've only been here once -- for lunch -- and loved the variety. Most places will offer the same lineup, but apparently at Sultan they switch it up every day (and offer both north and south indian food for the buffet - rare). Cant wait to come here again! I loved both the chicken and veggie jalfrezi, chicken tikka masala, chole and shahi tukra (indian bread pudding, holy hell, so damn good). I didn't try the idli/sambaar because I ate too much too fast. :( but heard it was bangin. And who doesn't love to listen to latest bollywood jams on their lunch break?
Only criticisms - Lack of art on the walls. Oh, and it's walking distance from my spot, making it an easy future addiction. :)
Next time I'll wear elastic-waist pants. Holler.
Really Really good food.. There Buffet is one of a kind.. its a must try for sure..
Must try must try
I don't have much of a comparison when it comes to Indian food, besides Naan N' Curry (which is right next door).
Bombay Prawns (coconutty), Tandoori Chicken (not too dry) and Naan. All were pretty delightful and easy on the tongue and stomach. Though...
The verdict? I prefer Naan N' Curry a tad more. The Naan seems to be more satisfying for some reason and the dishes feel like they've got more impact on the stomach. By impact, I mean that the flavors are a little more hearty, reeking, spicy, and wreaks havoc on your intestines. Yeah, I like the wrenching NnC does for me.
But if you don't need that so much, this place provides a decent experience.
I'll have to come back here to raise it a star if I can find an overall dish deserving.
-CHANGE IS NOT ALWAYS GOOD-
THE GOOD:
-I remember it being family operated. They were very good people.
-I have been a fan since it was at the Mark Twain Hotel.
-Not super oily food like next door at Naan & Curry.
-Definitely more care gets put into their cooking.
-Clean!
THE BAD:
A bit slow with bringing out the food.
This morning...I have a stomach ache. What the???
THE DECISION:
Last night was my first bad experience at Sultan. When I say bad, I mean bad. If you read my other reviews, I never trash restaurants and I won't trash Sultan but I have to be honest and truthful.
I'm not quite sure if the same family owns and runs this place anymore because the service and food were completely different from what I remember. I ordered my usual and when it came out it was unrecognizable to me. Sure it had the color of Korma but the texture was way off from how I usually have it there. It came out really really really hot. Drops of sweat were literally dropping off my face after two fork fulls of rice mixed with the Korma sauce. It actually tasted very different as well. Not the same. The meat that was cooked in it was super dry! That was never the case before. After two bites, I stopped. I couldn't bring myself to eat. As for service, I don't ever recall having to ask for more to drink. The brother and sister team that use to run the place would always have my drink refilled before it hit the bottom and in most cases as soon as it hit the halfway full.
I use to love Sultan but I really don't know what happened last night. The whole place was completely different. The staff was different the food was different. The vibe and atmosphere was different. It was not what I remember or am use to experiencing there.
NOTE: I'm only being hard on this review because the old Sultan really boosted my expectations for Indian restaurants. They were exceptional in every way! I hope this was just a one night fluke and not the beginning of the end of what was once an outstanding family owned and operated Indian restaurant business.
*******UPDATE********
I just called Sultan to speak with the management in regards with my concerns about the changes. Some good news...it still is owned and operated by the same family. The bad news...I wasn't able to reach the brother and sister duo who I am familiar with. Instead, I spoke to a very pompous, unapologetic and rude individual who initially claimed to be a waiter and then part of the family. I suppose the family may have sought to train the young lad in the legendary great ways of the original Sultan Restaurant. I believe the family needs to teach this youngster a bit more before he single handedly runs their business into the ground.
I apologize to the family. No harm is intended. If you carefully read above, you will see how I hold Sultan in high rankings and regards. It was my experience last night which took me by surprise and prompted this review.
I do hope that the brother and sister duo who ran the floor for many years either 1) continue running it or 2) make sure it's ran up to their standards. This goes for the kitchen as well. I truly love Sultan. I do!
It's the best Indian restaurant in all aspects...but last night was something else...something very strange and not from Sultan at all.
At least for me.
I only write this because I actually care about the survival of the restaurant. Truly...I give it 2 stars because "I've experienced better" from Sultan themselves. Come on guys...you can get things back to how it was...I have faith!
Tandori chicken and a bowl of raita is a great flavor combo.

The best Indian buffet in the bay area....yes, it beats Fremont, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara Indian food. Read more »
We went here for dinner based on the Yelp reviews and were not led astray: it truly was yummy, and they truly were slow. The quality of the food and the affordable prices made up for the wait, though.
I tried Indian food for the second time in my whole life. The first time was at Naan and Curry. Comparing the two, I think Sultan is wwwaaayyyy better. The food tastes better, the service is like 5 stars, and the place looks a lot fancier.
I went to the buffet for $12. I think this is a place for everyone to try out because you get to taste a lot of the foods they offer for dinner except unlimitedly =D. But try not to go too late because they start running out of food. Also the service was really really good. The waiter was really nice, friendly, and helpful. They refilled my drink like a thousand times without me having to ask =).
I love indian food. love love love love love. love it so much, whenever my friend monica makes it, i invite myself over. j/k she invites me, but i never turn it down.
i've been to sultan's for lunch and dinner and i have to say, i definitely prefer the lunch buffet more. maybe it's the asian in me where i'm super cheap, but with a buffet well... you get to try all sorts of things. and eat yourself silly. which is exactly what i did. they have the typical tandoori chicken and lamb and naan. my favorite indian dish is paneer and was surprised they didn't have it at lunch.
ventured over there for dinner last night and we ordered a lamb curry and the paneer (yay!) with garlic naan.
paneer yum. a little too watery for my taste, but it was still good. it's kind of hard to mess up paneer.
garlic naan also yum, but could have been baked more to get the garlic flavor out.
lamb curry? well... i can't really give you a review on it b/c even though we ordered lamb curry, they gave us chicken curry instead. hmm. yeah. lamb and chicken? not exactly the same. oh, and i hate chicken. minus one star for sultan's.
Maybe I went on the wrong day -- Friday.
Maybe I went for the wrong meal -- dinner.
It is beyond me why a place with service such as this has such a high Yelp rating. Sultan is Robin to Naan N Curry's Batman! It's smaller with less stuff -- stuff, in this case meaning decor and customers.
We passed Naan & Curry and were zapped by aromas and warmth. We stepped another 5 feet toward sultan and into its flaccid atmosphere. Now, don't get me wrong, the food was alright but the service left a lot to be desired.
1. Offered the table closest to the exit where we were sure to be chilled by O'farrell's winds
2. Had to request a fourth menu
3. The chais were delivered approximately 1/2 empty
4. Green tea delivered with no cup... NO CUP!!! Hot water, tea bag, spoon came out on the first round but no cup. The server realized this and apologized before this was pointed out. This is the only thing rectified without our bringing it up first.
5. A party seated after us was served before us. In fact, they were almost done eating before our food arrived. Our waitress had wandered off and was having a conversation at the door so it was necessary to hail another server who swore up and down that we didn't have our entrees yet because she was waiting for us to complete every morsel of the appetizers. Mind you this was after hailing her with, "check please" -- paying and skipping next door sounded like a good idea.
6. Our original waitress never returned after delivering appetizers. In order to FINALLY pay & leave we had to wave at the congregation of employees around the cash register.
Overall this place has a strange vibe. I do not anticipate returning. If I do, I would have to scrutinize all the yelps rating this place 4 or higher and see what the common factors were. This place was practically empty on a Friday night during a holiday weekend in San Francisco. Perhaps the mighty have fallen. Then again, I don't believe Robin ever was that mighty.
Oh, the first star is for the food and the second star is for the music.
You gotta love the brazen competitiveness of this business, whose entrance is just a few feet from that of the established Naan n Curry. I came here for the lunch buffet on a Sunday, and it blows NnC out of the water.
The food is delicious and they continuously put out fresh servings. The variety was good, and it's all at a good price (I think $12).
The service could use some help; it took us awhile to get the complimentary naan that comes with the buffet. Still, everyone was friendly and it certainly wasn't bad service.
Decor is good (huge step up from NnC), and it's very clean. I had the buffet plus two beers and my total was less than $20 (can't remember exactly what it was).
This place has one fanfuckingtastic lunch buffet. Mostly vegetarian entrees but the tandoori chicken, butter chicken, and indescribably complex lamb curry were all top notch as well. They even had a dessert I liked-- some french toastish thing in a sauce of cream, lemon, egg, cream, butter, and cream.
I tried everything on the buffet and have no complaints. And the staff were very sociable to my friends and me.
Their $12 Indian lunch buffet is the best one in the city. Fresh and hot, and has good vegetarian options too. Nice, clean atmosphere with a semi-open kitchen. The only drawback is that it doesn't include free chai.
Notice how their Chicken Tikka Masala has fresh, moist chicken, while Naan'n'Curry's next door is drier than toast and must be made from leftover chicken.
THIS PLACE WILL KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF!!!
I really don't know, especially at lunch time, what the point is of walking in next door to Naan and Curry, when for $12 you can get amazing food at the lunch buffet in Sultan.
EVERYTHING IS GOOD HERE.
Seriously, I'll try some random cold lentil salad, like who cares to waste calories on that in the face of some yummy spicy curry right? But damn that was good too!! The mix of spices and flavors in all their dishes is so artfully done. And how have they managed to make everything so pleasantly spicy, but yet not enough to make you put your fork down for 3 glasses of water?? I don't know. I think a magician works in the kichen.
My coworkers and I will treat ourselves to this place for lunch, and we always want to try this relatively new place across the street, but the lure of Sultan is way too much to resist. I've come here for dinner too, and that is fabulous. No one I've ever taken here does anything but adore the food, and proclaim it as the best Indian food they've had in the city.
Eat here. Soon. It will change your life :)
Fine Indian Food Dining at its best! This is a must try! My favorite is the Tandori chicken, Tikka Masala & fresh baked Naan. I've try other dishes here and there...very tasty. But always order my three dish combo. Friendly service too!
I'm in town for work and have had takeout twice from Sultan. I had to return a second night for the butter chicken. Subtle heat, creamy, smooth. The chickpeas are good. But the okra, oh the okra. Spicy, flavorful, not greasy. The first night the garlic naan was the best I'd ever had. Seriously, I started to think it was a West Coast/East Coast thing. The second night was completely different: only one piece instead of two, and it was like every other naan I've consumed. Great naan comes and goes I suppose. For takeout, you'll need to remind them to include utensils and plates.
Atmosphere: So yeah I did takeout but hung out a bit waiting for the edibles. Tidy space, but lacking charisma or imagination. I'm not saying this is bad.
Went here for the lunch buffet. They ran out of the good chicken in red curry sauce and never replaced it. What's that about. It was empty when I got there. I'm not coming to eat the eggplant or chickpeas, come on guys.
Naan was pretty good, piping hot when they brought it out.
Tandori chicken was not too dry, tasted pretty good.
There is better indian food to be had in the city.
It's oddly close to another indian place, naan and curry, I found myself wishing I ate there instead when I walked out.
A friend brought me here for the lunch buffet today and i was not disappointed. The buffet has lal the staples of an Indian Buffet. Tandoori Chicken, tikka masala, ect. It was all very good, The only problem was it was so good it kept running out, i went up for a refill twice and they were out of two of the chicken dishes. So i just spooned what sauce was left over some rice. My friend said they are usually better with the food, so maybe i caught them on an off day.
Bottom line: best Indian food i have had in the city yet, and they actually have a lunch buffet. SO if you can take a long lunch, be sure and stop by.
Sultan was a rare breed of Indian restaurants: great food, good service, good location, and a nice atmosphere. I recommend without hesitation.
Fantastic food.
It should not be situated next to Naan n Curry though unless they have the same owner. So many times I could not convince my ex to come here because he wanted to always go to the cheaper Naan n Curry next door and do their buffet and skip the whole fine dining experience. I also love Naan and Curry's food, so he didn't have too hard of a time convicing me to go next door. But I eventually came back with another friend and we had a great time all around. Yes, it was quite a bit pricier than NnC, but the service was great and the ambiance was great as well. NnC has great food, but it's always LOUD in there as the owners have the music up so loud playing bhangra hits you think you're at Bollyhood! Not to mention the patrons are yelling at each other in NnC, trying to hear themselves over the music, and there is nothing even remotely romantic about it. Sultan is the complete opposite. I don't mind paying a bit more money if the food is more authentic, and I don't have to yell at my companion across the table!
The food was good but the atmosphere and service was less than memorable.
They need to hire a hostess ASAP. When you first walk in, you're standing around waiting to get noticed by a busy server in order to seat you. The food took way too long to arrive. It was tasty but the brown, bare walls were just boring!
4.5 stars.
Came here a few times with a group of friends for the lunch buffet. Their lunch buffet is awesome! The selection may not be much (7-8 main dishes), but it's soo good with the naan that you won't be complaining (I sure didn't!). The dishes are always hot, fresh, and in-stock! Their naan is good as well.
Service was good. Naan came fast, and water was refilled quickly. The main waiters (who I assume to be the owners/managers) were very friendly. Price for the lunch buffet was good too.
Overall, this is a very good place for Indian food. Just forget about next door (Naan and Curry). I highly recommend this place!
I'm sure I've had worse service, but I'm not sure where or when. It was NOT packed, but as we sat and waited 10 minutes for anyone to take our drink order, we noticed everyone else looking around trying to get a server's attention too. The only one who seemed to be on the ball was the busboy, who was great at filling water and clearing dishes. Unfortunately, everyone else needed a swift kick in the ass. We were in a rush - I'd think that an hour and a half would be plenty of time for a relaxed dinner, but we were pushing it because of the slow service. I asked for the check when the server brought our entrees. Nothing. I grabbed a guy walking by and asked him for our check too. Nothing. I finally had to walk up to the counter and explain that I had asked several times and we were really in a rush. And then the wrong check was brought to us.
And it's a shame, because the food was phenomenal. Absolutely great. We had the shrimp appetizers and the corn croquettes to start. And then we had two chicken dishes and saag paneer. And everything was wonderful (the chicken masala was the standout).
I know the owner is a yelper - why the hell isn't he reading these reviews and doing something about the terrible service?
And the decor? I get it, you're going for some sort of minimalistic and modern theme. But it doesn't really work with the space. Get some art on the walls. And some tufts of fabric hanging from the ceiling would be a nice touch too.
Naan N Curry meets Ikea. If your looking for a good Indi Pak food but dont want to have your clothes saturated with that curry smell for the next two days go to Sultan. Decent decor with friendly service.
Food is top notch. Naan fluffy and tasty, good semi spicy chicken tikka masala, and good Balti. Very similar to Naan N Curry but without the Indi Pak trance music (not sure if thats good or bad). Inexpensive and they even have their own bathroom! Major plus over Naan N Curry! 4.5 Stars
Never crowded and good for a cheap date if your low on the flow...
The food was surprisingly good! We live in the neighborhood and finally gave it a shot (had been avoiding it because I assumed it was a Naan n Curry clone--which it definitely isn't). Really excellent, fresh dishes. We had a group of 6 and everyone was very impressed with the quality of the food. The prices were very reasonable.
Why not 5 stars? Very slow service. I remember about half an hour after we'd ordered our food and nothing had shown up, I looked around the restaurant and not one person had food on their table.
Once we GOT the food we realized why it took so long. But they need to advise people that they make everything fresh and that it will take a while. In the meantime, going TO the tables and offering perhaps pappadums or something to munch on or drink would be helpful. But the staff were just hovering around doing very little.
Bottom line: go when you're not in a hurry.
Side note: the place seems to be very wheelchair accessible, if you have disabled dinner companions.
UPDATE 9/25/09
We went back because the food was so good we couldn't resist. We were just as happy with the food and the service was a LITTLE faster than the last time, though still not nearly as attentive as they should be (they just stand around doing nothing--they could've made a lot more money off us in alcohol if they had asked).
Chicken tikka masala is amazing. so is the naan. I love this place. best indian i've had in the city so far ;)
keep it up!
We sought out Sultan on the advice from a friend.
As it turns out, Sultan made for a great date restaurant. With so many Indian food restaurants in this area, I am sure it has the most comfortable seating, and beautiful ambiance. It seemed rather slow in the restaurant while the Indian Food buffet restaurant next door was SUPER BUSY. I was a little envious and felt like I was missing something.
But the staff at Sultan was very friendly and efficient. The food was spiced perfectly.
I had the chicken curry which was very yummy despite the odd texture. (The batch I received was probably a fluke, but it still loved the flavor.)
I was a little annoyed I had to pay for rice, but those complementary crispy chips and sauce they brought out at the beginning of the mean made up for it.
I am SOOO going back here as soon as possible... Seriously, this is one of those places that you only WISH you could find- and once you do find it, you can't believe you found it because it's so awesome.
Yeah- Yesterday me and my GF were doing a "Best of Yelp" tour around SF for our anniversary. We were in the mood for Indian, and Sultan showed up as one of the top hits. I'm glad it did... While finding and paying for parking in this area might be rough, it's worth it in the end...
Inside Sultan you'll find a very well kept, modern, and friendly atmosphere... The waiter I had was VERY attentive and filled my water at least 5-6 times lol... The buffet line looked very sharp, and very clean... Cloth Napkins, too! How classy lol...
The Food was very good. From the several curries I tried, to the naan, pasta, finger foods and white rice- everything tasted outstanding. Nothing was too spicy for little old white guy me, and everything was full of flavor. The price tag @ $12 a plate seems a bit steep for lunch, but when you factor in the quality of the food you're getting, it seems about fair.
Near the end, I had a chance to speak with the owner. He told me how they offer different dishes at Sultan everyday and he appreciated us stopping by! Kindness and good customer service go a long way, and i figured I'd spread the love over here to Yelp! 5 Stars, I will be back, soon!
I haven't been here for dinner, but after 6 or 7 trips to the lunch buffet, I have to say that I am sold - even at the somewhat-high $12 they charge. Here and there you will find a dish that is overly oily, and that is disappointing, but overall the food is excellent, there is a great deal of variety from one day to the other, and the dishes are replenished frequently. Sultan features a number of South Indian dishes rotating on the line, but also throws in old buffet standbys like chana masala as well.
Since it is a South Indian place, you will also get some great chutneys, incl. a yogurty mint chutney and a coconut chutney. Their sambar is also quite good, and if memory serves, there is always idli and vada available with it. They do bring naan to the table rather than roti, however.
I'm not sure if I would call Sultan's buffet "gourmet," as they do, but it is very good and (from what I can tell at least) unique in the Bay Area. I have not eaten at Naan n Curry's buffet next door, but I am sure that it is no match, no matter how much lower they set their price.
I must say that I was actually told not to go here. That it was just ehh and nothing great but I was feeling lazy and it was nearby.
The place was packed and the food was good. I got the typical chicken tikka masala that was which enjoyable.
The staff was great and very accommodating. I wanted to take my food to go and the hostess set me up at a seat with a tea gratis while I waited. The food would take a little while so I informed the waitress that I would head out for a walk and she offered to call me on my cell and did so when everything was ready. They get the 5th star for the hostess and service. Some places really do go out of the way to take care of their customers.
DELICIOUS lunch buffet style Indian food. I really enjoyed their selections from meat dishes to vegetarian dishes. Flavorful and spicy (depends on the chefs) but it's definitely worth $12.00. I asked the waitress if the dishes change and she says 6 dishes are constant and 4 dishes rotate including dessert (I'm waiting for Kheer.) I definitely will be back to try out their other dishes. I wish this place was in the Financial District because we need more tastier Indian food. Yum.
Pretty standard buffet with a pretty standard price.
The food is pretty smooth and refined, definitely some decent quality. The naan is always freshly prepared and was nearly perfectly cooked.
Would recommend to anyone.
