I love this place, good steaks, good lunches. I have yet to have bad food here. The biggest challenge for me here was when I first tried this restaurant I was introduced to the Lettuce Wedge for the first time. Man is there a right way to eat this thing? Tasted great but felt odd eating salad with a fork and knife.

The oddest part is from the inside you would never know it was in a Mall...

Sullivan's Steakhouse has nice ambience, good food, and good service.

The bar is especially attractive for an Anchorage establishment and live jazz music is a regular feature.  Additionally, certain nights of the week the bar menu includes smaller versions of a handful of the restaurant dinners for a good price.

I'v eaten dinner in the bar several times. I did not care for the meatloaf only because it was much too salty.  If the chef toned down on the salty ingredients, it would be great, but as it was the night I ordered it, I couldn't finish eating it even though it wasn't a large portion.

A light dinner of their lettuce wedge with blue cheese and French onion soup is satisfying and not expensive.

The bread pudding dessert is Great.

I've had dinner in the restaurant several times and enjoyed myself each and every time. Although it is not inexpensive by any means, the food and the service are a cut above many Anchorage establishments. Restaurant dining in Anchorage is generally more expensive than in many other cities around the country, so one can expect to pay more here for a higher quality dining experience like Sullivan's offers.

The quality of the food is reliably good; the atmosphere is attractive and pleasant; and the service is not only good, but friendly, and that too often isn't the case in Anchorage. Therefore, Sullivan's is a nice place to go just to relax and treat one's self a little once in a while, as well as to take out of town guests.

I had the Salmon, it was pretty good. The service was okay, they would leave for a long time and I thought they had forgot about me. All the females servers had on short mini shirts with fishnet stockings, I thought it was cute. Very expensive, but worth it.

I got salmon...in Alaska.  You think it might taste good?

Boy did it.

The service was great.  The bar was swanky and stocked.  I only drank scotch, so I can't say there's much skill in tending that.  There was one dude who sat at the bar that seemed to know everyone.  Everyone seemed to know him too.  Being near him was like watching an episode of Cheers unfold.

I am glad my seafood experience in Alaska was great.  I'll definitely come back here if I am ever in Anchorage again.

My friend and I ate here cause I was wanting a steak. Boy, did I get a steak. Though a bit pricey than most steak houses in AZ, it was the best for AK. Now I had my fair share of steaks but this steak was prepared to my liking.

The restaurant was quiet big, though I've never seen black comodes (lol), but the way the waitress staff were dressed was a little uncomfortable. Not sure what look they were going for but whatever.

And it's connected to the 5th Ave Mall. I would definitely go back for another steak.

If you are looking for the familiar Sullivans experience that you can get in most major cities, it is the same experience here.

Nicer atmosphere, I would almost say the highest end dining for Anchorage. Besides my all time favorite Kincaid Grill in Anchorage.

The bar looked nice, we enjoyed the live jazz music in the dining area.
It looked busy and entertaining enough, I would have liked to stay for a while.

The service was outstanding. My only complaint is that the hostess didn't offer to let us know about the coat check, we were over bundled. Our server couldn't had offered or served us any better. I wish other restaurants would take note.

My only need to give only 4 stars is that it wasn't an out of ordinary experience and the typical Sullivan experience that you can have in any other location.

I had the Salmon Hong Kong Style, essentially having a soy sauce that didn't need a doggy bag to take home because there wasn't much left. My co worker had steak oscar style, which he thoroughly enjoyed. We shared the escargot as an appetizer and loved the garlic and butter. The wedge salads are your typical experience.

This is the place to go for a formal business dinner, nice occasion, etc.

I'll give them 5 stars, for the most obvious reasons.  They can get spendy, but not as bad as other places in town.  If you want a steak, and one you cherish while you are eating it, and licking the fork, knife, plate and napkin for the last of the flavor....then you have found the place.  The shrooms and horseradish potato's make a good side, with the blue cheese wedge for a starter.  Run you about 58.00 bucks, but worth it.  (That's spendy to me, but good for a treat).  The Bar and lunch menu are great values, so be sure to check them out!   Look for the meatloaf during the week, you read that right, the meatloaf!!  They refuse to divulge their secret, but its good stuff!
They have an outstanding Wine List, and the temps for the wine are always right.  (Yea I know $$$$, but its once in awhile!!!)  You can't miss it, 5th Ave. Mall, on the corner.  Worth the trip, ESPECIALLY at Lunch!

I would give 4.5 stars if I had the option. The first time we went we had the most awesome Oysters Rockefeller - it's an all time favorite and always ordered upon each visit. We usually go in for $29.00 special, as we are somewhat limited in the dining out budget. However, it has all been good except for once. Sometimes once is enough to make me never want to return but it just wasn't that bad and it was most likely a fluke. The steak is much liked by my husband and the salmon is delicious but surprising enough I LOVE the chicken, even though chicken hasn't been my favorite - it might be changing. There is good service here and the low lit lovely dining area is quiet relaxing. OH! I love the blue cheese wedge salad, we have had the horseradish mashed potatoes and mushroom caps as well very yummy.

Just how good is this place?

I would FLY here just to have a filet mignon. This might have been the best piece of steak I have ever had. It was perfectly cooked at medium rare, and was so tender, I could have used my fork (or a butter knife) to cut it.

The salad was kind of weird, and the portions a bit too big, but the french onion soup was the best I have ever had. The place has this huge wine rack, so the location (Alaska) doesn't impede that selection.

Yeah, it's located in a mall, but other than that, the waitresses were beautiful, the food great, the atmosphere just right.

NY strip with Hollandaise sauce and lump crab meat piled on top is more than A-OK in my book. This place in the mall which kinda sucks, no one wants to have to walk through a crowed mall to get to there vehicles after an over abundance of red meat and vino. Other than the location the food is excellent, real solid cuts of meat. The seafood could hold its own as well. A good selection of beer on tap, and very nice appetizers. Sullivans gets over looked due to its more "local" Anchorage establishments, but again it could hold its own. Sullivans is not the most amazing steak you will ever have, it is just a good cut of meat, but again you get it "Oscar" style you my friend are now in business. Give it a go if you find yourself doing some Holiday shopping, it is probably a better choice than the hot dog on a stick.

Excellent place to take a date or hold a business dinner. Most locals I know will rate Sullivan's in their top five "best steaks" in town.  This restaurant is located on the first floor of the 5th. Avenue mall and is within walking distance of the Performing Arts Center.  The location makes it perfect choice for night out with that special someone.  The wait staff is extremely attentive and friendly.  They serve a drink called the "Knock Out" which is a pineapple infused vodka martini.  I highly recommend it.  They also have an extensive wine list.  Whenever my boss comes to town he must eat at Sullivan's -as a result I dine here many times a year.  The service and food are very consistent and the manager visits our table at least once during the evening.  The front of the house and kitchen both seem to have their act together.  Although Sullivan's is known for their steaks, they also have a very nice selection of local seasonal seafood dishes.  It is a bit expensive but you get what you pay for and I doubt you will leave disappointed.

Highly recommended menu items;

The Knock Out.  (Pineapple Vodka Martini)
Jumbo Scallops in Thai Sauce
Seared Ahi Tuna appetizer
Fried Calamari appetizer
Any steak Oscar style
Cajun Ribeye
Salad Wedge with Blue Cheese Dressing
Creamed Spinach

Had martini's and meatloaf at the bar last night. I liked the live jazz and the atmosphere. I had the drink with the pineapple infused vodka and I don't know if I'd get it again. It was a little too sweet. A dirty vodka martini would have been better. The meatloaf was very good!

I go here at least once a trip out to Anchorage, usually following some shopping at Nordstroms. I have to admit I always sit in the bar and usually order from the bar menu. The menu is extremely reasonable and boasts the best burger in Anchorage. Not sure about that.. but the burger is decent. I really liked the peppercorn steak tips (?) and instead of their horseradish mashed potatoes i substituted it with their creamed spinach which is SO GOOD. Most of the items on this cheaper menu are good and a great deal for the $.  This is also my favorite place if I'm traveling alone adn still want to get a quick decent meal.. and wine of course.

love the place--the best steak in town.

the atmosphere is old time steak restaurant, but the wait staff is downright nice here.  the atmosphere is nice and relaxed.

the salad (1/4 head lettuce) is terrific.  you can have different dressings if you don't get into bleu cheese.

the hash brown potatoes are fantastic, but half the time they are out of them.

the desserts are wonderful as well.

i stop in every time i am in town.

Ok, so yeah it is a bit pricey but it is well worth the money. The first time I ate here I thought 'How good could it be, it is in the mall'. It was great. I recommend the calamari. It is some of the best I have ever had. I absolutely love the decor and the food is some of the best in town. A great place for locals and tourists alike.

This was the final dinner before our flight home from our vacation and we were very disappointed.  As a favor to a friend I bought her gift certificate from her.  My husband and I each got crab legs and his were served to him still frozen.  His halibut special for the day that they made to replace the crab was rushed through and slightly raw still.  I guess we should have gotten steak instead.  Service was great though!

Service is astonishing here.  Small bar located on the side if you ever want to meet up for few drinks.   It was VIP treatment and not going to turn you around if you came in wearing t-shirt and jeans.  Restaurant is upscale with excellent choice of steak and sides.  I have never seen salad served in 1/4th of a whole lettuce and you have to cut it yourself.  I felt little awkward but once I start cutting it, it came natural and made sense to it eat it like that.  You can chose iceberg or spinach salad.  Both comes with house dressing that was very good.  I'm more of a ranch dressing but I tried it and it was very good.
Make sure you order side dish (mashed potatoes or asparagus).  Steak will come by itself like most of upscale restaurants.  I haven't tried Sullivan's in Chicago but one in Anchorage received 5 start rating  for food service.  After dinner, dessert is must! (strawberry creme brule); it is amazing!!

man it just doesn't get any better.  perfectly prepared steaks with great service.  i had the fillet oscar style.  the mashed potatoes and creamed spinach were to die for.  the music was loud but i could hear my date and no one else.  then just as i thought i was going to make it out of there i walked by the packed bar jamming to the live music.  i spent my whole evening there.  we needed a cab to get home those knockouts were outstanding.
