I've both eaten at the restaurant and ordered delivery.  Score on both.

The restaurant isn't anything as far as ambiance or whatever goes, but it's a totally solid spot to stop in at if you're wandering around that part of 5th Avenue.  The sushi's on par with Kiku and is a wee bit cheaper.  The delivery is fast - and they come to Sunset Park.  Who could ask for more?

Why all the haters? I'm so down with this place. Always a solid choice when I run out of groceries. Great for take out and pretty good for dining in every now and again. The staff is friendly and the food is relatively inexpensive. Not that sushi is usually that slow, but the chefs and Suki seem to be particularly speedy- I can call in an order and five minutes later, I walk down the street and it's already bagged up for me. Oh yea, and there's a pretty great lunch special til 3pm.

Plus, they have racecar shaped lights. Niiiice.

While visiting my friend in NY, we placed a delivery order to Suki and I must say that I was fairly pleased with what we ordered. I generally order a virtual smorgasbord of items and today was no exception.  Here's the play by play:

Suki Roll- king crab, kani, seaweed salad,: topped w/ spicy mayo & lobster salad.

This was amazingly good. The roll had the right hint of spiciness and was quite large; a meal in and of itself!

Blue Ocean Roll- king crab, avocado & caviar; topped w/ jumbo sweet shrimp.

I think if the shrimp was omitted altogether, that this roll would have been perfect. Somehow it's inclusion led to the roll's demise. There were too many textures to contend with and the shrimp was quite slimy.

Shu Mai- Pretty much your standard fare. Not amazing, not horrible.

Chicken Teriyaki Lunch Special-  For $7 this is a pretty good deal. Edamame and 2 Shu Mai pieces are included and quite filling. Again, standard fare but definitely a consideration for a value priced option.

Recently got take-out from this place and portions are great, as people have attested.  The spicy tuna roll was decent, but kinda forgettable and the nabeyaki udon was meh too, but OH the pork katsu!  Plentiful meat, good portion of rice, just the right amount of tangy tonkatsu sauce.  The pork was still crispily breaded at delivery, and it came with a corner of magenta pickled radishes - yum!

I was also wowed by the salad dressing, despite what a previous review said.  No joke -- I drenched that salad with it (I like my salad saucy!), ate and discovered how much I liked it, then proceeded to lick the salad container, then lick the remnants out of the little plastic cup....  (hey, I was at home ;-)

I was also kinda happy that they included fruit with our orders.  That's nice icing on the cake for take-out.

Not the greatest.  Sometimes the tuna is that beautiful deep garnet color, and sometimes it is pale, pink and ragged.  Pretty inconsistent, but we find ourselves going there in spite of it all from time to time because...well I don't know why, but we do.

I ordered from this place for the second time this week, and I have to say - solid sushi.  And they deliver to me in Sunset Park, which is a major plus.  The fish has been fresh each time, and the rice is of good quality - the first time I ordered a bunch of their fancier rolls, but this time I had some quality regular ones - alaskan, spicy salmon, eel - and they were better than the fancy ones.  The miso is eh - don't order it, it's weak - but their gyoza are delicious.  I'll definitely be ordering sushi from here more often.

Most sushi places that are lower to middle end generally have the same fish, give or take.  Thus, it's the other aspects of a restaurant that can make or break it, and sadly in the case of Suki, it's broken.

My problem is that the sushi chef just plain wasn't good.  Pieces I got were ragged, to the point where I didn't want to eat them.  The rice was served at inconsistent temperatures.  Whatever they put on the pieces of lettuce that was masquerading as salad dressing flat out tasted bad.

The sushi landscape of Brooklyn is vast.  It shouldn't be difficult to find somewhere that's better than Suki.  Or as I call it in my mind, sucky.

I really don't get the low marks from a few people.  I think the comparisons to Kiku are totally off, but that's why a lot of reviews are good, right?

I've found the special rolls to be great as meals in themselves.  The edamame appetizer and the miso soup are always fresh and tasty.  I've found that the pieces are usually very nicely trimmed, unlike what a previous reviewer wrote.  It's not fancy technique, but it's also much more affordable.  My husband has been a Supreme Roll customer several times now, and it's always made him very happy.

Guests ordered the Sashimi platter and  were very pleasantly surprised (they expected a small, low-in-variety plate).

We went there for lunch.  I'm giving it five stars because the price is amazing for the amount of food you get.  It would be four stars if I didn't get shumai and edamame with my sushi.

They had a high chair on which the strap was broken, and they fixed it immediately (via stapler).  It was good enough for a short lunch.  Tea and water come out as soon as you sit down, and a salad and really nice miso come out as soon as you order.  It was a larger salad than I've had at other places, and the ubiquitous gingery dressing was better than I've had at most.

I got the vegetarian sushi lunch platter.  An avocado roll, tofu skin, pickled squash, pickled carrot, and shumai and edamame were prettily presented on the plate.  My husband got two rolls: spicy, crunchy salmon and yellowtail, scallion.  He said both were tasty and fresh.  We also got a tofu appetizer.  They brought out rice and jello for our offspring to enjoy.  He really appreciated it as he'd never had jello before.

Thankfully, they deliver to us even though we're almost 30 blocks south.  Yeah!

This was terrific sushi for a great price, with tons of combinations and special rolls to choose from as well.

Their rolls are not Funayama or Yama size, but then again nothing is. But these rolls are huge. And very, very tasty for the price (3.50 to 7.50/8 for the normal rolls, 3.50 for a tuna roll? That's pretty damn good). The age dashi tofu wasn't the best, but believe me, their spicy tuna rocks hard and long (........that'swhatshesaid) and the salmon was fresh. It's terrific takeout; I really wish I had this kind of sushi place (run by Chinese, so it's cheaper usually) that was affordable but very worth it.

The place itself is small and no different than your average sushi joint, it's clean and bright and nice and with too many sushi chefs (they had 3 but there was nobody there haha).

Suki Sushi offers a fantastic lunch box special, which comes with miso, edamame, salad, shumai, and your choice of sushi rolls.  Oh, and the miso comes with enoki mushrooms!

The staff is very friendly, and the sushi is quality stuff.  The prices are also very reasonable.  If you're wandering down 5th avenue and get a craving for spicy eel rolls, make your way to Suki Sushi, and you won't be disappointed.

Who says you have to be Japanese to make good sushi? This place is owned and very well run by Chinese staff. I admit, I was a skeptic myself, but I'm a complete convert now. The sushi here isn't the most authentic, but the portions are big, the sashimi cuts are generous, the rolls are inventive and some even have fruit in them, and all for a ridiculously reasonable price. Enough said.

Okay, okay, I know you're thinking to yourself, fruit?!?! Yes, fruit, let's stay open-minded here. Just imagine avocado, mango, soft shell crab and spicy tuna, rolled in rice with a cucumber wrap. Or imagine red apple with yellowtail, rolled in rice, with *more* yellowtail and roe on top. Plus they're happy to accommodate special requests so you can make up a special roll yourself. I recreated Raku's Salmon Family roll with salmon skin, salmon sashimi, and salmon roe. Yuuuum.

Best.  Sushi.  Ever.  And I've been to a LOT of sushi places.

They have great rolls, an amazing lunch special, awesome veggie options like a peanut roll (which may sound gross, but is actually delicious).  The meat is fantastic, too, and everyone who works there is really kind and friendly.  The decor is fairly traditional and the place is pretty and clean.  And they have sake, which is important, since so many other sushi places never seem to bother with it.

Okay, so not the best sushi I've had, but a good deal nonetheless.  Coming here for lunch I got a great deal of food during the lunch specials, that was definitely filling come bill time.

I got the "Any 2 Rolls" for  $8, which also came with Miso soup, Salad, Shumai and Edamame.  Again, the sushi/sashimi is okay, nothing special.  The Miso was good...pretty much your standard kind, but in a bigger bowl.  The salad was a bit wilted and I could easily tell that they prepared them the night before and just placed them in the fridge.  They could've  at least have tossed it to make it look fresh.  Edamame was good, shumai was okay and the sushi was probably the best part.

My food quality rating for this place is a definite 3 Stars, but because of the many mini meals and a full stomach I gave it an extra star.

When I need a cheap meal thats close by and doesn't involve "would you like fries with that," I'm heading back to this place for sure.

Granted I first visited Suki Sushi when they opened so things could have improved but I was extraordinarily disappointed with my first time.  Rice was soggy, the seaweed was chewy.  Miso soup was salt soup without any delicacy.  Fish tasted suspect.  The best sushi is a few blocks away - Kiku Sushi on 7th Ave.  Go there instead.

I love this place. It's right across the street from my apartment and they have great sushi for the price. Everything here is always really fresh. It's pretty standard sushi and I get takeout about once a week.
Since it is right across the street I always walk over, order, and wait for my food rather than getting delivery.
This is where Suki Sushi becomes really special to me.
It's always tranquil and quiet. The waitstaff offer me tea while I wait for my food even though it's takeout. If you're anything like me, you have a blackberry which your office gave you so they can harass you during the weekends and evenings, and you take the game "brickbreaker" on it VERY seriously.
So seriously, in fact, that last night while I was waiting for my sushi I actually let out a little groan of disappointment when I got shut out at level 5. Anyway, I glanced up and noticed the 2 sushi chefs and the host guy standing there staring at me. I turned beet red and flashed them my blackberry and explained "it's a video game."
I felt like a 12 year old boy.
Anyway, the host guy came over and asked "is that your cell phone?" and I showed him brickbreaker, etc... It's hard to explain but it was one of the cutest moments ever, and SO Suki Sushi. They are just really nice people there.

Our nickname for this place is "Sucky" Sushi. Not because the food is altogether bad, but we have had a few bad experiences. Most recently we ordered a couple of King Crab soups, and when we got them there was nothing in them except some salty broth. We had them before and they were good. So we called up, explained our dissatisfaction (we paid $10 total for them). They said they would refund our money, but had to come back and get the soups. WHY? I have no idea. Well, they never did either, so we ended up with two large containers of yellow broth on our counter for a day or so (that a friend mistaked for large urine samples). And never got our $10 bucks back. Meh. One time we dined in and they didn't have the heat on and it was like 15 degrees outside. We were hungry and with friends so we stayed, but it was kind of ridiculous. We don't order from them anymore -- there's better places that I am happy with.
