Heard its closing down this weekend.
Sorry to see it close its doors.
Hopefully it will open back up at another roswell location.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Nov 4, 2015Previous reviewLovely place.
Always fresh.
Their selections are always changing, which is great.
It's always a treat to visit after the fickle pickle. - Nov 28, 2018
TL;DR Delicious and nicely priced biscuits. Good but expensive coffee.
It can be easy to miss this little spot since it's off the main street. Just look for the Fickle Pickle. It's behind it. I'm not going to lie, I was headed to Gracious Plenty one morning and saw a line standing out the door so I just kept going.
As I was doing a slow roll, I saw a sign for breakfast biscuits at Sugar Shack so I stopped in to try it out. While I was there, I had a pastry -- a vanilla beignet. It was purported to be the favorite. I didn't get it. It was alright, but it was more a donut than a beignet.
The breakfast biscuit I had was so good though. The biscuit was dense and fluffy with a crusty, salty top. Prices were super reasonable. ~$4 for the biscuit. ~$1.50 for the pastry. The only thing that was strikingly out of balance was the coffee -- large at ~$3.50. :-o
It's quaint inside but not cozy. There are limited seating options inside as most of the space is taken by the kitchen and counter.

Love SSitB! Back when I worked in Roswell, and I got to dine at the Fickle Pickle every week, I was a huge fan of their chocolate ginger cookies. Unfortunately, my office moved to Alpharetta before SSitB opened... well maybe that was fortunate for my sugar levels!
They took the barn in the back and converted it to a bakery and ice cream shop. The portions are large, the treats are sweet, and everything is tasty. When you order a kids meal at Fickle Pickle, it comes with a treat card that entitles you to a cookie (sugar, sprinkle, or M&M), or a small ice cream.
I still get the chocolate ginger cookies, and they are my absolute favorite, and I never see them elsewhere. Space is small - not much room for enjoying your treats at the counter, but you can sit in the tent or on the benches outside, or take your treat as you wander down Canton Street.
It's Downtown Roswell, so it's not cheap, but I think the portions, flavors, and quality make it worth it.

So you just finished your amazing lunch at The Fickle Pickle, yet you find yourself something sweet or a cup of Joe. The Sugar Shack is bound to satisfy without you having to move your car or give up your picnic table.
There are traditional coffees, lattes, cappuccinos, and teas available to wash down freshly made donuts, cookies and parfaits. The lineup changes regularly, and while the selection may be smaller than heavier trafficked places, there will be something to please everyone in your party.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Bob J.Marietta, GA987685037Jul 2, 2019
This place is awesome! It's the hidden charm of downtown Roswell. I love the options for desert. This is a local business that you should definitely try to give business. They have many options for ice cream flavors. The staff are very kind. The kitchen seems fairly clean. They also have many types of cake, brownies, and cookies. I highly recommend Sugar Shack!

Love getting back here every chance I can! Fortunately I have family in Roswell so it happens a few times a year.
I love the setting. The outdoor tables. The commitment to premium baking. The cinnamon rolls, the beignets, the brioche! SO GOOD!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Gela W.Roswell, GA159310105Jul 28, 2016
What a quaint and cute neighborhood shop! Friendly staff, fantastic outdoor ambiance. Selection was a bit shy but I arrived close to closing time. A perfect place to visit on a warm evening...have a seat under the tree of lights and just enjoy the great outdoors of Roswell.
I was fiending for a nighttime sweet. I pulled into the lot to turn around and there the Sugar Shack was...all part of foodie history now. :)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Susumu K.Roswell, GA17174405Apr 9, 2018
I'm one of the regular at Sugar Shack (part of the Metrotainment Bakery) so when I heard there is another Sugar Shack in Roswell, I had to go check it out, the employees corrected me "No, we are not Sugar Shack, we are Sugar Shack in the Back!" lol.
Well I've been going there whenever I'm doing a photo walk or watching the Criterium, to get my coffee and fresh baked pastry fix, now that the Artisan Bakery has closed for few years. One time when they were not busy I asked "can you surprise me with a creative coffee drink?" she surprised me with a Pumpkin spice latte with a dash of cinnamon, it was pretty good. They sell the pastry at 50% off when it's near closing time.
Only thing that bothers me is that their ice cream is Mayfield Ice cream, we have a local ice cream factory in Chamblee called "Green Woods ice cream" not related to Greenwoods restaurant (Bill, why did you sell that restaurant?), I wish Sugar Shack in the Back starts carrying those ice cream instead of Mayfield where we can get the same ice cream at a grocery stores.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Nancy L.Atlanta, GA216173191Feb 22, 2019
I don't know what it is about this place but I've been here a million times. The choices are pretty limited but the ice cream is good. My favorite place to walk to after a nice dinner in downtown Roswell (Especially during those summer nights when the weather is perfect)
I can't remember what I've tried here bc I feel like I've tried most of their flavors but Ive never had a bad experience.
If you want ice cream, just go hereHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
