Coming here starving on a Saturday afternoon after checking out reviews on yelp, the ratings do not lie.
The restaurant is a nice mom n pop shop that's on the smaller side; however it adds to the intimate feeling - kinda like eating at grandma's. I ordered the chicken udon and I have to say it was one of the best udon I've had. They could give a little more meat; however the flavor was perfect.
Do plan on waiting about 10 minutes since the restaurant coul be a little busier on the weekends. All and all, I highly recommend this place!
Came here with my roommate after attending the AMAs. TBH, the location is a little scary at night. We felt like hookers in our dresses and heels, though I suppose that's more our fault than the area's.
I got the chicken teri don and the pork gyoza. Both were mediocre. The bean sprouts in my don were burnt, which perplexed me -- who gets bean sprouts of all things wrong? My roommate's fried chicken appetizer thing was okay, but who goes to a Japanese restaurant for fried chicken, anyway? The best part of the meal was the ice cream. For $1.50, I could have ordered 4 or 5 scoops. Try the plum wine ice cream; it's incredible. Tastes just like Japanese candy. The green tea is pretty good, too. You can get two flavours in one scoop, so if you can't decide between two, just go with both -- but expect to ask them for another order once you finish.
In the city of angels over the last weekend to tie up some business and to celebrate my "older brother's" birthday, (not really my older brother, it's a long story, let's just say its a Japanese thing) when while driving down from the Hollywood Hills to Little Tokyo on the 101 so many memories came rushing back to me with each street we drove past: Franklin, Hollywood, Sunset, Melrose, Beverly, I miss those days.
We arrived at a karaoke place close to Suehiro that you'll never find on Yelp because it doesn't exist. But if you had been there you would have witnessed a performance so epic, even the great ones, Bill & Ted, would have been impressed. I ran from Puffy AmiYumi to Puffy Combs and when I ended with Foreigner's "I Want to Know What Love Is" the lighters went up and afterward there wasn't a dry eye in the house.
Stumbling out of this place at 2:00am, we needed something to soak up whatever we had drank over the course of the evening that had me singing power ballads, and only one place came to mind, Suehiro. Holding a special place in my heart, it is the first place I visited when I came to L.A. Already homesick and cold, I was greeted by a nice lady that reminded me of my grandmother, she gave me hot tea and I felt at home.
As far as cuisine is concerned, I tend to stick with the combination plates, usually beef or chicken and tempura, they even serve ice cream with the combination plates, I like azuki (red bean) or matcha (green tea). Over the years I have tried just about every item on the menu, even during the Hollywood years I would still visit this place on a weekly basis, there's nothing I would steer anyone against on the menu.
I was glad to see they were so crowded on a Monday morning, I didn't mind waiting, just glad to see they are doing well. This place is easily in my top three of the places I would recommend in Little Tokyo that actually exist. Slept at a friends until noon then it was time to head up back north, through the grapevine, past magic mountain, then into the inland valley and sweet abyss, a high powered mutant unfit for mass production.
It's not on the menu, but don't forget to order some air conditioning when they're taking down your drink orders. Not sure on the exact cost, but I've never had to pay for it. And I'm also not sure why you have to ask for it. Why isn't it already on?! Anyways, It goes well with a hot steaming bowl of shiyo ramen (also not on the menu).
Fried unicorn katsu is also not on the menu, but try ordering it. Let me know if they have it. Thanks.
This place has a good selection of japanese foods! Traditionally, Japanese restaurants have a display window with the foods that they serve and I must say, the Oyako Don looked pretty good!
This place is pretty much a mom and pop shop and we decided to give it a try due to the never ending line at Daikokuya... The servers were also very nice and gave us suggestions on popular dishes. Apparently, the teriyaki chicken and tempura combination was the most popular dish.
I ended up getting the Nabeyaki Udon but my friends got the Oyako Don. The food came out at a reasonable time and it was a pretty good portion considering how much we paid. I thought my udon was ok. The shrimp tempura was average, but maybe it's because I don't like it being soaked in soup and getting all soggy.
Overall, this place has a lot of selections and would definitely be a place to try a variety of Japanese dishes at a reasonable price.
I love Suey's. I'm Japanese and grew up w/ Japanese food and Suey's is def. comfort food. Nothing fancy, nothing spectacular, but the menu offers comfort and variety. The ramen isn't their specialty, but their udon is decent, but noodles aren't their strong point. The combo sets are a good fall back when i don't know what to get.
This place is very accommodating for large groups and the service is great.
PS. the spicy rolls... are really spicy.
Adorable and quant, Suehiro Cafe feels like you are eating at a family-run Japanese restaurant in the 1980s. Though overshadowed by the overly-hyped Daikokuya, this place holds its own with a lot of redeeming qualities.
The interiors looks very nostalgic much like you are back in the 80s, from the slightly faded booth chairs and the vintage looking soda fridge mounted on to the wall. Even the walls are plastered with napkins drawings.
Though a lot of the food looked delicious, I really only tried the rice bowls so far, and they weren't spectacular by any message. After a 30-minute wait, it ended up being mushy and unsavory. I fault myself by picking the beef and egg bowl (tantin don). However, I am willing to give this place another chance very soon due to their pretty attentive service and the numerous other specialties available here, along with a lot of delectable dessert offerings.
If Daikokuya is full at night, this is a great alternative. Most of the entrees are very affordable, as most of the rice bowls were around 5 to 6 dollars. This place is quite a good bargain. Plus everything looked like something that Re-ment creates.
I should've known when i read that this is a good place to go after bar late nights.
I actually went to eat here after reading that on a Sunday morning for lunch. I cannot say much about the other foods, as my sister and I just ordered soba and ramen.
The soba seemed a little overcooked and under flavored. mainstream japanese restaurants do it better. the ramen was decent, but again the broth wasn't too good with the harder than normal noodles. not a very long review I know, but just thought I'd come in and balance the star meter out.
I guess if i were hungry from drinking too much i MIGHT think about eating here again.
As a friend of mine once said, this place is seriously a "Hodori/Nakwon for Japanese food." Meaning: they have basically all sorts of Japanese food you could ask for.
I ordered the Oyako-don-- chicken, egg, and onion on rice. I LOVE chicken on rice. With their chili sauce.. it just satisfies a late night dinner craving. :)) A group of us went after a USC trojan football victory that ended late. I was starving and was afraid that the portions would be small. But it was definitely enough. Not too much but not too little. YUMMY.
Their green tea ice cream was really good too. It looked like wasabi but the taste is very rich in green tea flavor. Other people ordered the curry and combination plates. Everything looked/tasted good.
How wrong can you go with regular non-fancy Japanese food?
Although, people say this is the place to go when Daikokuya is severely busy. But I think it's about the same.. (that's also because I don't really care about the ramen that everyone craves about......)
Anyways.. in conclusion. Don't feel bad if this was your second choice. The food here is satisfying too. Especially late night. :))
I can only comment on the ramen and the fact that this place is open late, making it an ideal stop for post bar or party noshing.
I've been here a few times, both way past 2am. At that hour on a weekend I am usually fairly intoxicated so perhaps my taste buds were biased, but the ramen was just what the doctor ordered. It's a good size bowl of noodles and veggies, with the standard amount of pork (if you want a good amount of pork, go to Ramen-ya, sadly not open late). It's a great dish to slurp down noisily amongst other vagrants. It's a mixed crowd, of course.
Also tried one of the sushi, I think it was tuna. Not that good but I wasn't expecting it to be. It's not the place to go for sushi.
I GREW up eating at Suehiro! Great place to grab a meal with a bunch of friends. We usually pack the place. This is the ultimate home style authentic Japanese place. NOT FANCY but solid great food!
Reasonable, good portion, comfort Japanese food. consistent. I had their katsu curry .. the curry sauce actually came with carrots, potatoes, onion.. instead of just sauce on top of my katsu. like .. Curry house!! Also their chicken karage.. was not just 4-5 pieces. but a bowl full of fried chicken.. I have known Suehiro since the 70's .. The Suzuki family owned restaurant still operates with heart in their food. dont order too much as theiir portions are filling.. Tabe Sugita!!!
Love the late night
We were walking around trying to find food after midnight. We walked to two other restaurants that were supposedly supposed to be open but unfortunately closed. We then saw this from across the street with its bright neon OPEN sign on and so we went.
Food was good and nicely priced. Servers were attentive and friendly. There were still a good number of people eating here at this time of the night as well.
Left very satisfied
Three stars only because its open late. The food is just OK. I was expecting more sushi on the menu. I think they have about six different rolls to choose from. Also, they make their rolls super small. I don't know why. Its like... made for baby.
I ordered the house special: eggplant, tofu, bell pepper in Miso sauce. It was OK. As was the miso soup. I also had a tuna roll. Yes, it was small. Made for baby.
The house special also came with ice cream. I chose the red bean flavour. When they brought it to me I had to ask if it was dairy. It was - so I only took a few bites from it. Yes, I was sick when morning came. I knew that would happen but I just cant control myself when its 1am and I've been drinking cocktails (not made for baby) and Corona's all night.
They ordered five veggie rolls. Veggie tempura, Miso, and fried tofu. The fried tofu had about 4 pieces in the bowl. Made for baby.
We all agreed the food was OK. We didn't wait long at all for it. The waitress was cool. Refilled our water and tea without asking. The food was inexpensive and the restaurant was nice and clean.
----------
Outside the restaurant was total chaos. Drunk ass people stumbling and holding each other on the streets. It was great. I love LA.
This place is great for some late night grubbin' in Little Tokyo.
I asked the sweet lil' old lady who seated us what she recommended and she pointed to their house special stir fry eggplant with miso sauce with the option of tofu, beef or chicken. I decided to go with the healthier choice of tofu. Others at my table got the nebanyaki udon, beef sukiyaki, beef teriyaki bowl and another house special with chicken.
My order came with miso soup and was pretty good. Then came my main dish and it was yummy! A great mix of sweet and salty. I think the firmness of the tofu was about medium which was great. I think if it was soft it wouldn't have looked appealing with little chunks of tofu. The eggplant (one of my favorite veggies) was also cooked to perfection. I tasted the nebanyaki and thought the noodles were ok. The broth was had a very strong shitake mushroom flavor that I didn't really care for. I didn't try the other dishes but I heard they were pretty good. But this did come from people who were pretty drunk at the time. I on the otherhand was completely sober to enjoy my meal.
The final course to my meal was the red bean and plum wine ice cream that also came with the house special. This was my first time having plum wine ice cream and thought it was pretty good. I liked the red bean ice cream but I've had better.
Overall my experience here was very pleasant. The service was nice and friendly and we didn't have to wait too long for our food. The prices were decent also, I believe total was less than $15 for the house special including soup, ice cream an with tax and tip.
I'll definitely be coming back here again for the house special and I would love to try something new on their menu.
3:30am.......
I'M STARVING...
We got lucky. Somehow we were the late drunks or the early ones because we got seated fairly quickly.
Our waitress was a sweety. For someone who has to deal with drunk idiots all night, she was all smiles.
I ordered the nabiyaki udon, (not sure if I spelled that correctly) and a side of gyoza.
Both were good. The udon didn't have as much seafood as it is suppose to, but at 3 in the morning, I didn't care much. The gyoza was the same. Good not great. Strangely tho, what was incredible, was their hot tea. AMAZINGLY GOOD. Had 3 cups of it.
This place got the job done. I'm still buzzed, tummy happy, now it's time to go beddy bye.
The food is okay, and there is a very homey feel about the place. Not the best Japanese food I've had in Little Tokyo, but it is satisfying and open later than many other places. I feel like I'm at home being served by my grandma. I almost always order the oyako donburi and it's always yummy.
Our group quickly attacked Suehiro Cafe around 1am ish before any of the other drunks in LA would come crashing through the doors only to have to wait to be seated because we did take up like 4-5 additional tables. 3am is close time on a Friday night.
In my drunken state of mind, everything on the menu looked so cheap that I wanted to just order everything! I ended up going with the Beef Udon after the gf told me she was gonna just have one bite of her Rahmen (thats the way they spell it here) and let me finish it off.
Chilled sake only $5? I wanted one bad, but the gf saved me from having a major headache. I thanked her for not letting me drink anymore after our meal was done.
The beef udon was delicious. The broth warmed my body up from the freezing cold.
The rahmen with that S-named broth was okay. The rahmen was okay. Gotta head next door for the better stuff.
Im coming back!
cheap, fun, great.
lots of patrons here even late on a sunday night.
the nabeyaki udon was excellent. they sell beers. nice little waitresses. no wait. interesting decorations of art people have done on napkins.
GET THE UDON.
One of the only places open late-- and I mean REALLY late. Not just kinda-late. This is a the-club-just-closed-at-2am-where-do-we-go place.
Lemme be honest. The ramen looked meh. The spinach roll thing was only a bundle of spinach. But the other half of the menu (I forget what the rice-in-broth is called) is quite good, the price on the sushi isn't bad-- considering this is NOT a sushi place don't expect too much-- it just adds up pretty nice.
And the decor is pretty cute. Low-key, covered in napkins with children's artwork, whatever it is, this place has value, food, atmosphere, it wraps up nicely.
I'd describe Suehiro as ... very homey Japanese food? Comfort food? Whatever it is, it's delicious food. And cheap food.
They have never disappointed with the quality of the food and the portions are relatively large. At the least, it'll fill you up. You might even have to take some home. Their dishes are flavorful, but not to the point where it feels unhealthy.
When my boyfriend and I went for dinner, it was a little over $18 for two entrees and a side order of tempura. And they give you candy with the check.
I am currently on a quest for some crack teriyaki chicken. I searched high and low and came up with a list of places to hit up in the near future to find some perfect teri chicken.
Arrived in downtown around 6pm and a little too early, since I was waiting ot meet some friends for a happy night of beer and weiners. Since I was hungry enough to eat a meal before hitting up Wurstkurche, I started my walk towards Jtown.
Walking around the area, I finally stumbled upon one of the places on the list. Hello, cute cafe and waitresses. This place is absolutely classic, in a way where you feel like you've travelled back in time, to the day of the diner (LA needs more places like these with a kick of nostalgia). The walls are covered with art made by kids adding to the neighborhood diner feel. The seats are absolutely comfortable and super vintage. Cushiony, and a nice diner yack pastel green.
The service was great and beer orders and waters were filled and prompt.
Now to the original intention of coming here. The chicken teriyaki is along the lines of 4 star goodness. I've definitely had worst in these parts, and the chicken was succulent, saucy, and tasty.
Oh, also ordered the sukiyaki as by recommendation from all the posts here, and was not disappointed.
While I'm still holding out the 5 star teri chicken review for something superly sensational, I would have no problem coming back to enjoy another delicious meal.
Yum, yum, yums.
Surprisingly Delicious...
We just left Video Games Live and were quite hungry so we headed to Little Tokyo to eat a little sumtin sumtin. Parked at 1st street heading over to Daikokuya... F**** it was closed. Started walking towards 2nd street to eat some Koraku when Mel said "let's try this place". Barely anyone was inside so I Yelped the place and got good reviews. So... we went in.
The service is kind of slow but it was expected since they were almost closing. I ordered Karaage and Katsu Don and everyone else got the combos. So our food arrived and we started chowing down. Umm... yeah... RIDICULOUS! The Karaage was so tasty and the Katsu Don was PERFECT. My honey had the teri chicken and beef combo and the beef was to die for. So soft and it just melts in your mouth.
What can I say. I love me some Japanese food and they had the stuff! Go visit this place and enjoy the food. :)
One of the best Japanese restaurant in Little Tokyo Period !
I always make it a point to stop here when I am in town !
Great Price !
Average japanese food... I had better... but it's doable...
Found this place on yelp while coming out of a late night movie that was over 2 hrs... I was hungry! Didn't know where to go, so I yelped on my sk and Suehiro Cafe pulled up. It was a 30 min. drive to get there but it was worth it. we got there around 1am and it wasn't crowded.
I ordered the okayu don $5.50 (hard to mess up a simple dish, I enjoyed it) , shrimp tempura plate $9.50 (batter was okay and the dipping sauce was perfect, comes with 5 shrimp and 4 veggies) and a side order of sashimi $6.50 (pretty fresh, came with 5 pieces if i can remember) and sk snapple $1.75 (interesting choice to sell snapple in a japanese place).
Came with miso soup, which was pretty good, considering I could taste the LA water. I don't suggest drinking the water there, unless you're use to the taste of LA water. I ended up ordering a bottled drink.
Our bill was right under $30 and came with tootsie roll candy. Parking is usually an issue in LT... but this morning we were lucky and got street parking right in front of the cafe. Parking at that time of day is free.
So if you're up late at night and looking for a place to eat and not looking to eat american food. Try this place out. Lots of seating. Closes at 3am on Friday nights. Very casual place. Service was pretty fast. They have bathrooms there too. Good luck finding street parking...
I may just have to come back on of these days and try their katsudon.... mmmm...
3 stars from me.
This place was tough to comment on since the only reason I ate here was because Big Black House (aka Daikokuya) always had a 45 minute wait. I don't love ramen THAT much and nothing else on this street even looked safe to eat. But Suehiro always had tables available and a small crowd eating there.
At first the plain simplicity of the meals here didn't impress. After awhile, I realized how much I craved such simple Japanese dishes and really came to appreciate this place's brilliance. It's an inexpensive diner that serves Japanese comfort food quickly. The quality is consistent - above average but nothing great. Prices are cheap and you can get away for under 8 bucks a person total. Plus they serve beer and the waitress talks with an super high pitched voice in Japanese.
I'm certain to eat here many more times as I repeatedly visit Daikokuya, write down my name, hear that it's a 45 minute wait, then leave thinking, I don't like ramen THAT much.
As I walk through the 1st st of little tokyo... after going to haru and ohjah.... i stumbled into suehiro.... right now I am looking for food to absorb the alcohol consumed that night so I will not wake up with a hangover, and I will be able to go to work the next day. This is monday night btw....
as i enter, the restaurant seems pretty homey, lotta people here for monday night at 1AM... the waitress is nice also
I take a look at the menu... I'm looking for something to ease my stomach... found the soba with tempura flakes.... perfect.... friends got katsu curry and ramen... i must say the soba was delicious... hit the spot... soothed the stomach... easy to digest.... tried some of the katsu curry, which was pretty good....
if i'm looking for late night food in little tokyo or even lunch, i'll definitely come back here
I wanted to have some late night dinner. I looked up yelp and typed in late night. Suehiro Cafe popped up as convenient and the reviews seemed above average.
This place was good for what you pay for. Its very inexpensive, parking was very legit and the service is friendly and fast. The artwork of everyone's paper napkins get posted on the wall as if it were a trophy of some sort. This is pretty classical on a Japanese eatery. You almost feel as if you were eating in Tokyo. I had the house special, it comes with marinated cucumbers, miso soup, stir fried egg plant with your choice of protein. I went with tofu. It comes with a bowl of rice which was soooo good and perfectly cooked. And then it comes with dessert, I had the plum wine ice cream, simple and good, not sure if it was home made? All this for under 9 bucks!!! I also had Iced OOlong tea, mmm. The lovely servers were sweet and patient, and they greet you and mark their farewell in their language, soo cute. I will definitely be back to try other things.
For those who hate, they need to take time to realize that we are all going through economic hardship, they should be grateful that food can be this inexpensive with attentive service. Don't be so harsh on your reviews, think before you speak.
As mentioned in several reviews, the house special stir fry eggplant is a definite must. Most people here seem to order the combination specials but if I were to rate them just on these items, I would give probably 2 stars. There food is decent and priced fairly, but if you want some great ramen, head over to Daikokuya and if you want some great sushi head over to Komasa. The bf and I only head to Suehiro when nothing else is open or the lines are just too long and we want some good eggplant.
I was bout to award it four stars, but in the end I'll have to opt for three. It was more a-ok than awe-inspiring. I went there for lunch and it was pretty busy, so I opted to sit at the counter to avoid the wait. The lunch specials posted on the wall offer cheap Japanese food (relatively cheap for downtown Japanese food) for $4.50. I had the cold tofu and fried fish lunch combo, which comes with a bowl of miso soup, salad, and rice. I initially thought the fish had too many bones, but you can eat the bones with the fish meat, and it was good. Just avoid the fish head, which is bitter and brainy. Avoid the scales and internal organs, unless you like those things. All in all, it was pretty filling for what seemed like a pretty modest amount of food.
this place is ok. 3.5 ok.
if you cant think of anywhere else to eat then come here. they have a wide selection of dishes... youre bound to find something you want to eat. :)
been a few times, the food is pretty good. just small compared to the price.
Average Japanese food. I had a combination plate with salmon teriyaki and tuna sashimi. The size was generous and the food was ok. The salmon cut was large, but parts were dried out. The maguro sushi was decent, but nothing to write home about. I also had an unagi roll, which was below par. It was funny, the waitress was confused when I asked for unagi sauce on the eel roll!
The cooked dishes are ok, but definitely don't come here for the sushi. On the plus side, the servers were very nice and they are open until 1am. Just don't park south of 2nd street, otherwise you might get mugged!
My brother and I were originally going to eat at Daikokuya for lunch, but decided at the last second to be spontaneous and try some place new. Well, we weren't really that spontaneous seeing how it took us 30 minutes to choose a different restaurant. We ended up going a few doors down from that famous ramen shop and found ourselves seated in the roomy Suehiro Cafe.
After looking at the menu for a good 5 minutes we decided to order the Lunch Special A (miso-flavored pork) and the beef sukiyaki. It took almost 20 minutes before the food came out and my patience wore thin. However, Suehiro redeemed itself with its amazingly flavorful sukiyaki. I really liked how big the portions were. They did not skimp out on the amount of beef in their sukiyaki. Nope, they did not. I am still thinking about it right now and seriously want to go back tomorrow for some more. The miso-flavored pork was really good as well. I thought it was kind of sweet, but when eaten with rice it's not that bad.
Our bill came out to be less than $18, which was really awesome. I am really glad that my bro and I tried some place new bc now I've found a new favorite place for my sukiyaki.
On the plus side, it's cheap and not too crowded. However, our food ranged from bland to yucky. My boyfriend's veggie udon was pretty flavourless. I got the seafood nabe which was kinda gross--the seafood tasted like it had freezer-burn. Not coming back. Also, the interior is shabby and depressing.
The food is good, service is fantastic, and the prices are great. Its a great feel, like a Japanese dive bar if that makes sense. There's such a wide range of customers, especially late night! The napkins drawing are a nice touch. But back to the food, I've never had a bad meal here. Flavors tend to be on the light side, but I like it that way.
i like that this place is open late on weekends. i also like that this place did not have a wait at 8 pm on a tuesday night, which allowed my friend and me to dash in for a quick bite whilst waiting for a table at super crowded daikokuya a few doors down. we ordered chicken karaage and agedashi tofu. the chicken was on the fatty side but it was good, especially with the accompanying slice of lemon squeezed on top. the agedashi tofu was lackluster in comparison. it wasn't crispy (or was no longer crispy, perhaps) and the sauce was bland. i wouldn't order it again.
during a previous visit, i tried the sukiyaki which was tasty, and my friend had the katsu curry which was edible but not to my liking. the curry tasted a little bland and it had a strangely thick consistency.
hmm i kind of see a trend in my experiences here.
however, i'll probably be back sometime, as i am a sucker for japanese comfort food, even if it's inconsistent.
i REALLY wanted to try the other ramen spots nearby but after a nite at the farbar we were hungry and decided we would settle with suehiro.
we went in and requested a table for 10. it was like 1-2am and they were still servin...in FACT the place was gettin beyond pACKED and it was heading towards 3am...
the waitress is super cute. she took our orders with a smile altho at 2am i cant imagine that smile was sincere hahaha. neways i got a ramen and it was totallly MEH...i mean im no PRO @ japanese ramen but this was mediocre @ best. the beef udon was much tastier then the ramen tho! sooo if ur choosing between the two get that!!
Yeah, yeah, all the places over there have those red and white checkered tiles out front. I get confused. But I will never forget Suehiro.
There are several items on the menu that sound like tongue twisters to me.
Just.
Vegetable dumplings.
So green and doughy and warm with a crispy pan-fried edge.
So soft and warm inside.
Yeah.
That's all I have to say.
I would describe Suehiro as Japanese comfort food. Udon, soba, stir fry, tempura... even some Chinese dishes. Oh they have some sushi rolls on the menu, but don't come here for sushi. (Many sushi restaurants are right next door.)
Their house special stir fry eggplant with miso sauce is fantastic. So is the spicy Chinese stir fry chicken. I was planning on sushi tonight and went back to Suehiro and left a very happy man. It also doesn't hurt that the ladies who work there are wonderful.
I'm sure I like this place a lot, but I can't quite put my finger on what it is. Oh well, it doesn't matter. Enjoy!
After being flaked out on by my Valentine date, I decided to be a little selfish and i call up a couple I know who planned to spend a nice quiet evening at home that night. I forced myself on them and asked them to take me out for drinks and indulge me while I drown my loneliness away with alcohol and food... to which they agreed out of pity.
So after a few drinks at the Griffin, and hearing my incessant whining and ranting, also being an unwelcome third wheel. I try to make it up to them by offering them an after drink dinner, as a gesture of my appreciation (and guilty conscience) for their selflessness. To which they happily obliged.
So we went to Little Tokyo. Daikokuya had about a 30 minute wait which I did not have the patience for... so we head on down to Suehiro which also had a line but it's a lot shorter.
I ordered the beef Sukiyaki and my friends had Shoyu ramen. Both dishes were good and cheap. The Sukiyaki had a lot of beef (I should've asked for some raw egg) and they left some room for a little soy sauce for me to add to my liking. another plus was the beverages... To my surprise, I saw a familiar looking bottle in the fridge that I had spent a long long time looking for in other restaurants. I finally, finally found a place close to home that serves my favorite beer.... ORION!
So, to sum it all up Suehiro is one of the best places here in LT for great food and cheap prices. And they're open late for all you night owls.
