2 reviews for Suarez International USA Inc.
i havent had the privilege of attending any of the seminars here that temujin http://www.yelp.com/us... speaks very highly of. one day, perhaps between slapping a ring on jen and having kids, maybe ill take a week vacation and head out to the dessert for some training.
what i did have the privilege of was being a "fan" of temujins reviews and talk posts which led me to check out suarez internationals website. i found a holster that was designed pretty much exactly like what i wanted. inside the waist band (iwb), minimal profile. sure its just a piece of molded kydex, but this is leaps and bounds above my other iwb holster, namely, just sticking a loaded 9mm inside my crotch area being held by the tension of my fat stomach against my waistband.
some people ask me why i would want this sort of training, i kindly remind them that in my lifetime, the people that are supposed to protect you on a municipal level and on the federal level left koreatown to burn while they went to protect the rich folks down the street in beverly hills during the la riots which was caused by four white officers being aquitted for violating rodney kings civil rights. thats just one example why you shouldnt depend on the police, the municipal government and the federal government to make sure your needs are the same needs they are looking after.

In the year and a half since I wrote the original review, there have been plenty of sweeping changes at Suarez International.
The courses offered has expanded to include many new subjects.
For starters, there is now the High Risk Operator series of courses whose purpose is to teach team tactics to rifle armed operators so that two or more skilled individuals may work together to act as a force multiplier. Urban combat, CQC, rural patrolling, night ops and fieldcraft/recon are among the courses soon to be included in this family of classes.
And because the Kalashnikov Rifle (w/ it's well earned reputation for simplicity, ruggeness and dependability ) has gained such a loyal following among the SI/Warrior Talk crowd that there are several entire multi-day courses dedicated to the AK from the basic gunhandling and manual of arms to team tactics classes to an AK Armorers Course that's taught by Jim Fuller who's the founder of Rifle Dynamics- a Las Vegas based company which builds some of the finest combat rifles available.
Another series of classes that's being slowly integrated into the SI line up are the Guerrilla Sniper classes which are a radical departure from the training doctrine commonly encountered in the U.S.Mil/LEO training arena. Instead of drawing heavily from the usual domestic military and law enforcement sources, these are closer to the doctrine employed by the various partisans, light infantrymen, insurgents, poachers (of men) and other irregulars throughout the history of sniping (i.e. Finnish snipers of the 1940 Winter War, Soviet partisan snipers of WW2, etc). In fact, the first of these classes was taught by a former Soviet Spetznas sniper who had firsthand experience during the Soviet-Afghan War.
Never one to hesitate to seek out the most highly regarded experts in their respective fields, Gabe has also assembled quite an impressive roster of folks to teach various skills such as Survival E&E and Tactical Combat Casualty Care.
In addition to farming out new classes to proven expert instructors, SI has also formed a business alliance with some folks who are renowned in other training arenas which have crossover applications. Notably Tom Sotis' AMOK! Group and Dog Brothers Martial Arts. This resulting cross pollination has made this one of the most innovative periods for the field of combatives.
In the interim between the first review and this update, Gabe also formed a company called Infidel Media Group in order to produce training DVDs and books on all the major weapons systems.
Classes are still being personally taught by Suarez around the country ( and in select regions outside of CONUS with one seminar scheduled to be taught in Russia sometime in '09) but many of the basic, entry level classes and advanced staple seminars ( i.e. Close Range Gunfighting) are now taught by highly qualified regional trainers which frees Gabe up to attend to the admin functions and to come up with new classes to satisfy the ever changing demands of the firearms training market.
Barring a catastrophe due to the sudden political swing towards Communism after that travesty of an election last week, SI will continue to prosper and grow and will witness yet another quantum leap when I write another update a few years from now.
Editted to add: SI's new address is the same as the updated one for One Source Tactical.
