I have been on a year-long search for an RV repair shop which (a) intelligently diagnoses and solves problems, (b) executes repairs in a timely and cost-effective manner and (c) treats you like someone they care about.
The search is over: Sturken, led by example by Steve Sturken the owner, is all of those things. While my RV is far from the most expensive, I use it to take my purebred dogs to shows, field trials and hunts. As such the cargo it carries is the most precious that I own and, in addition to safe running, I like everything to be in good order. Sturken treats it like it is the most important vehicle in the world.
Sturken has diagnosed problems that Camping World and other dealers have serially failed to care about or solve, fixed them promptly, exactly on the promised timelines, and all for a reasonable price. This is the by nautical miles THE BEST RV service shop in the greater Bay Area. -

I tell people all the time, I like my mechanic.
People are always worried about being over charged and inconvenienced by the shop. Not these guys, from greeting you with a smile when you arrive, even when you beat them there with some massive problem at 8 am on a Monday. To dropping you off if they need the car all day, to being very upfront about the cost and potential problems that may appear as they do the repair that might make it cost more.
I don't mind going to the mechanics, I know they are going to do me right! -

My car (BMW) is still under warranty at the dealership, so I do take it there. Had the people at BMW been watching what they should have; however, it would have saved my almost $900.00. I was never told that I needed an alignment, so my front two run flat tires were bald on the inside. On the outside, there was another 30K miles left. This is an example of the type of service I receive at Sturken--they let me know these things AHEAD of time! Thank you, Sturken, for another stellar experience!

This is the 1st auto place I've been to where they actually discouraged me from getting the more expensive service...
Mike is candid, professional, and trustworthy. He will not only take care of whatever you need, he'll give you his honest opinion of what he would do in your situation. Sometimes, that means not getting the works.
You can bet I'll come back here for all my auto-needs. They do everything from car washes to oil changes and tune-ups, in addition to the body work.
All the 5-star reviewers have it right. This is a great family-owned business. And for someone who's not in the family (Mike), he is as helpful and courteous as they come. -

Sturken genuinely cares about their customers and goes out of their way to make sure that you are more than satisfied with the work. They are one of the oldest auto shops in the San Jose area. They care about their reputation and that is why they work hard at providing good customer service.

Had my vehicle towed to Sturken Auto Shop they kept my vehicle for 2wks claiming that he needed more time to access the problem , during that time they were scheming on how they could milk my insurance company for the maximum payout .
When I finally insisted that I needed to arrange to have my vehicle towed back home , as they could not find the problem . They then charged me $650 for a diagnostic fee , which I never authorized .
I then took my vehicle to Service Point Auto Center 250 Willow St San Jose,Ca . They found the problem within 1hr did the repairs , fix the dashboard and the cost was very affordable . It's not every day you come by a auto mechanic that is completely honest with you, until you meet Steve! I know many people that use his service, and that are really happy. Sooo, I decided to take my car to Steve and have an oil change and my tires rotated. While my car was there he did an inspection and let me know how my breaks were doing , windshield wipers, tires, ect.
It's nice to leave without a hole in your pocket, and knowing the job was done right! If you are looking for a trustworthy and personable mechanic, Steve is your guy! -

I like coming to Sturken auto because this is a quality place to have your car done. The owner, Steve Sturken is the son of the original owner and have taken lots of pride in keeping their business personable. He makes sure that my car is taken cared of the moment I walk in to the moment I picked up my car. They are an honest auto body shop that offer very reasonable rates but excellent service. Sturken is not the cheapest around, but they are the best in what they do!

I absolutely love this auto body shop. Sturken is by far one of the most professional organizations I have dealt with in a very long time. The service is great, customer service makes you feel as though your business truly matters to them & my car has always been returned to me in perfect condition. Adam is the gentleman I have always worked with, and his knowledge on cars and professional attitude keeps me coming back. If you ever need good quality work done on your vehicle for great prices, I certainly recommend Sturken!

My car was badly crunched on one corner damaging the fender, door, suspension, wheel, bumper, and surrounding parts, and the airbags had gone off. Sturken was recommended by my Honda dealer, and my insurance company was paying for it.
Sturken assigned an agent to my job, Felton Brown. He did a great job keeping me informed on the repairs and costs with regular updates.
They used outside contractors for a few tasks (e.g., replacing the airbags). They asked my permission first. It was fine by me. I'd rather the shop admit its limitations and hand off the work to an expert.
Cosmetically, the car came out of the repairs flawless, both inside and out.
I'm glad they detailed the car before returning it, but they left a layer of Armor All on the leather seats and the leather steering wheel. That's a big no-no. It's like sitting on a slip and slide and trying to steer a lubricated latex wheel. It wore off after a couple of weeks, but it's a rookie move.
Mechanically, things were good, but not great. It runs like it did before the accident with one big exception: the car now drifts to the right.
They said they aligned the steering, so was the frame bent and they didn't notice, or was the alignment done improperly? Either way, a test drive should have clued them in that it was drifting. That's a pretty big boo-boo since I'll now have to take the car back to figure this out.
I'd give them 3.5 stars if I could, but since I can't I'm rounding down because of the the Armor All-ed leather. -

OK, since I was rather satisfied with the service. So when another of our family auto was broken into, I decided to come back.
I guess since it was minimal work, they made suggestions to get more work. Both of our automobiles were into but supposedly our latest car needed extensive glass cleaning which my previous car didn't? So they ordered the part and after a week, we had to call them to take the vehicle in. When we did, they ordered the wrong part so they told us it would take another week. A week comes by and no one calls. So after a week in a half past, I'm wondering since our repairs are so minimal; the customer is the one who is suppose to call??
In either case, they have a exterior/interior cleaning service and they perform that for all their vehicles after the repair. The job looked quite rushed as we noticed there was still glass and watermarks everywhere.1 Previous Review: Show all »

The best experience ever at an auto body shop for me. The Sturken folks are really centered on customer relations. They were recommended by the dealer.
My car hit some type of animal coming down Hwy 280 at 65mph. Center front bumper hit. Bent the rediator back and many parts damaged including engine suppport, etc.
The Sturken agent explained the repair to me in great detail. They transported the car from the dealer to their shop. They worked very closely with my insurance adjuster.
They were very diligent in calling me and informing me all along the way. This was a major repair due to the damage.
The car was ready on the original estimate date. When I picked it up, it looked brand new. They had a complete detail done on it.
This is a very professional run shop. The people are super friendly and very helpful. The entire process was done over and above expectations.

Over the years I've taken my vehicles to Sturken Auto Body twice for insured repairs. Basically I've got nothing bad to say about the place, and I have recommended it to friends. Both times my vehicle came out looking like new and everything had been fixed.
I like that they seem to pretty much replace everything that got damaged instead of trying to bang out dents and such. Insurance wouldn't pay for an entire repaint job, but the guys at Sturken blended the new paint in pretty much perfectly as far as I could tell, looked fantastic both times.
State Farm no longer allows Sturken to be a "pre-approved" shop where they do the claim inspection and the repair, though this was the case the first time I went to Sturken. I asked them about it and the guy said that they had raised their labor per-hour rate by one dollar, and State Farm was not down with that. I don't count it against them although it does mean more hassle if you are at fault. Anyway my repairs were because someone hit me, and when that happens you can go wherever you want. I had my vehicle towed straight from the scene of the accident over to Sturken.
I'd do it again too.
They gave me a ride home. Nice.
They have a kewl fishtank in the lobby too. For what it's worth. -

I am disappointed with Sturken Auto Body Incorporated of San Jose as they were dishonest and wanted to provide unnecessary work on my car while ripping me off. I knocked the right side of my front bumper off while pulling out of the parking lot at work. I was pissed at myself. I called my insurance and they advised that I need to get a quote and submit a claim. Allstate advised that if I submit a claim my insurance will go up. The quote from Sturken Auto Body Incorporated of San Jose came in at $1600 with a $500 deductible. I took my VW to Chris from Autowerkstat in San Jose and he repaired and replaced the parts for $200. Chris also trimmed the bottom of the bumper so it doesn't happen again.
Sturken Auto Body would of cost me about $2000 in unnecessary cost and increased my insurance. I think since I have insurance they just rack up the rates. What a scam!! There was no need to replace the entire bumper.
My brother bought his VW here and the paint is peeling. He needs to return it and get it fixed. I believe Sturken Auto Body will fix the issue for free!!!Comment from Steve S. of Sturken Auto Body Auto & RV Repair 2/1/2011

This is the best place to take your car if it needs body work. They are as prompt as possible and offer every convenience to help you out when you are getting your vehicle repaired. I have had 2 vehicles done there and they did a stellar job each time.
I went today to get an estimate, again, and it was the same consistent service. I would recommend them to anyone, even an expensive German car can be trusted in their shop. They also take care of all rental car hassles with your insurance, if you need one while they are working on your car.
Their work is impeccable and they stand behind it completely. Everyone is friendly and professional, and the climate of the shop seems overall honest and helpful. I appreciated that the most, I think. -

I would not recommend because Sturken indirectly gives your phone numbers to telemarketers. An outside company will call you a few days after your work is done to get an overall evaluation of the quality of service and work. Unfortunately after you give them that review they will call you later to get you to fill out random surveys. Now I have some idiots calling me at odd times of the night refusing my requests to remove me from their calling list. Affordable repair work, but you pay for what you get and in this case I'm paying with my any time minutes.

The last thing I EVER want to do is spend time and money on my vehicle repairs. I finally took my car into Sturken Auto Body. What I thought would be a costly issue ended up to be a quick fix. Steve was honest enough to tell me that it was something that could and should be covered under warrantly. 1 hr and a quick oil change later, Steve had done his job. I then took my car to Nissan to find out that yes..this issue could be handled by them under warrantly. Steve could have fixed the problem, and charged me. But, he did right by me!

Got in a fender bender - in the rain - mixed it up with a vacationing gentleman not understanding our traffic directions. Called Sturken and they calmly explained what the process was. I called insurance company - the immediately approved Sturken Auto Body - and my rental car. Within 7 working days (2 days early), I got my car - better than new!! I loved how great the headlamp cover was, as it was replaced on my 6 year old car. I found out they have service to clean up the other one, so I have better visibility on the road - in the rain! Can't recommend Sturken Auto Body in San Jose more highly. Found 'em at http://www.sturken.com.

I decided to bring my car here because I saw it on yelp and my fellow yelpers definitely came through! Everything the reviews said was true. They were shockingly honest about what I needed, surprisingly professional and kind but most importantly they were super affordable. The best prices I found for sure.

Sturken autp body basically charged an outragious amount of money for the repair. This by chance happened to be the most my insurance would pay. They were two weeks over the time they said it would take for the repair. When I point out some issues that were caused by the accident they said I should talk to the dealer? The worst part of all was upon driving home I noticed my hood floating up, and down while driving on the freeway. When I got home I found it was not secure. Did I take it back? NO, I aligned, and fixed it myself. I really never want to See Steven Sturken again.

Lets see, my over all impression after leaving was that Sturken's had ridiculously good service. I went in for an estimate and it was very quick. The staff always left me informed of what was going on and I was never lost. I was even offered help if I needed it on a more unrelated topic.

I used to hate dealing with auto body shops. That is until I met the people at Sturken. I had many choices in body shops, but I chose them to do repairs on my truck. I deal mostly with Mona and Adam, both have been great and are super honest. Adam would explain everything in detail and never rushed me. The quality of work done on my truck was excellent. My truck looked perfect and I'm extremely happy with their customer service. I've been telling my friends about their quality work. I highly recommend them!

I have used this shop 3 times over 12 years and have been satisfied completely every time. In California, you have the right to take your car to the auto body shop of your choice. It makes sense to go to a body shop that is working for you, not the insurance company. Bottom line: Sturken works for you.

I have first hand experience with many shop and this one is better than most. They do have a car-o-tronic frame measuring system that is essential to a competent shop and a good painter, sort of. Although, the paint job was of impressive quality the color did not match, the hue was incorrect. Another issue was the power function to the drivers chair of the vehicle was not fixed, I believe because it was not brought to the attention of the staff by the account rep because he believed the problem was pre-existing. I still believe the 3 stars is justified because the shop does not do "unacceptable work" for the average individual. I myself would not return.

They're really nice, but it might take a couple trips to get the job done right. If you are patient with them, you will get a good job done for a fair price, but be prepared to come back once or twice to fix little things with their work.
