    We really enjoyed exploring the trails here (as short as they were).  There were plenty of small streams to cross (using the rocks), plenty of cliff edges to scale (some not looking too safe), and even some blackberry bushes.  If I had a child, I wouldn't let them wander off on to the trails alone because there are plenty of places to get injured.  But it's really fun to explore if you don't have too much time and want to have a small adventure.

    The slides here are hot, not hot like the scorching forbidden man love burning between Rene C. and Markus N., but hot as in scalding your kid's little booty even at 10:30am. Ouch.

    The long green slides are appealing, but be careful on a sunny day. We dumped some water down the slide, but it didn't cool the slide, much like the blazing passion of an unconsummated man crush.

    This park didn't quite live up to my expectations, but it was A-OK.

    Features:

    * Water feature (more dribbly than spray, unlike Rene and Markus, but perhaps they were conserving water) in use May - October from 11am-7pm. Water is off from 12-1pm & 3-4pm.
    * Swings
    * Hot, scorching slides
    * Playground equipment
    * Shaded picnic tables
    * Restrooms
    * Barbeque pits

    The park is 42 acres, so there is a lot of it we didn't see during our visit. We may back, but it's not highest on my park list. Minus 2 stars for bum-burning slides.

    Stulsaft Park (which my son inexplicably calls "Shark Park") is a super option for getting outdoors with your kids in all seasons.

    In the summer when you're enjoying the searing sun (climate's best by government's test) the water features on the Farm Hill entrance is a very pleasant, safe and reliably entertaining place to kill an hour.

    Lots of people probably stop there, but what I love about this park is the depth of what's back deeper into this park which is a gateway into a larger open space into the canyon behind it.

    There is a flat grassy playing field about 100 yards down the path below the play structure area.  And then, if you follow the path down the hill, it takes you down to the watershed creek and a set of interwinding trails.  My favorite thing to do is head down there with the boys after a decent rain... you can both see the water rushing in the creek, and best of all the BANANA SLUGS come out and can be found if you're looking.

    There are also picnic tables down there and pits for barbecuing which looks sort of fun on a hot day, as there is shade and trees and such.  Also, clean bathrooms.

    Finally, back on the main part of the play area, there are tables that people reserve and rent from the City of Redwood City for parties.  They seem to book up, as it's a pretty great place for a party.

    Minus 1 star for the cars whizzing by on Farm Hill Road when you get in and out of your car -- although the play area is totally enclosed.  Be careful there, OK, people?

    This is a nice playground park for kids.  There's some big slides and structures to climb on as well as a big fountain and sprinkler set up for the kids to run through on hot days.

    The fountain is turned off and on through out the day so you have to check the schedule to make sure you show up during the right hours.

    I like this park better than a few of the other ones in Redwood City that have water activities for kids because the fountain sprays up high and the bigger kids can't block it.  At some of the other places the big kids don't let the toddlers in.  That's mostly a problem with their parents, but you know how that goes.

    My only complaint is that there's very little shade near the water activities and structures so if you have a little toddler you need to be near, then expect to be in the sun.  Also the sliding boards are nice, but totally exposed and thus often too hot to use.

    This is a great park for kids of any age.

    I assume that the clean-up efforts to clean up the mercury contaminants that were left from the mining operation that previously occupied this site were successful.  But still, you will notice that the signs say not to play in or drink the creek water.

    The play ground is the best in town, complete with water fountains for the kids to run through and operate themselves, as well as three of the longest slides I've ever seen at a normal kids park.

    They have a giant soccer field down the path from the playground.

    If you keep following the path it takes you down to the creek where there are more picnic tables, an ampitheater, and plenty of trails for jogging, etc.

    It's really a nice park for outdoor picnic or BBQ and a perfect place to hold a birthday party for kids.  I have attended a kid's birthday party and held a gathering myself there.  The water features really helped to entertain the kids and left the adults some time to chat.  It's nice when the weather is not cold or breezy.  Just remember to bring swimwears for the kids and some towels.

    If you have young kids and you want to see them when they are playing, take the table next to the playground.  That site even contains a table for adults and a mini table for kids.  If you have a bigger party over 20 people and would like to have a BBQ, the 2 sites down the staircases are really "private", contain 2 tables for each site.  There's a big piece of grassland in between the 2 sites.  Kids can playing soccer there.

    In those peak Summer months, reservation of these sites is recommended.  Residents of Redwood City can reserve 3 months before the party day and pay less.  For non-Redwood City resident, each site reservation will be charged $10 more.  This year, the charge has been raised $10 for each site and the total would be $80 if I want to book the 2 sites.

    This is my daughter's favorite playground. We're usually there for hours while she runs around screaming in the water fountain thingy. I always pack a towel and a change of clothes for her, because she always ends up soaked. The equipment is great for toddlers and preschoolers. There's a nice sand area that always seems to have a ton of shared toys in it, and there are plenty of benches, picnic tables, and grassy areas to sit down.

    We've also hiked back in the rest of the park, which is nice and shady. However be advised if you're bringing your kid along with you in a stroller or backpack, the gravel trail can get kind of steep and unsafe.

    Sunny spring or summer morning, wake up and feel the rays wash through that crack in the curtains, smell the wisteria or maybe the jasmine between wafts of mirage coffee.... and put on your running shoes, clip on that iPod shuffle and GO for a run in Stulsaft park.  From where I start, It's about a mile there, partially uphill, at which point I head up to the right off the main path and keep heading up and right until I reach the back west entrance, touch the pole, turn and take in the awesome view of the bay.  Then, I start the run back, looping off to the left and zig-zagging through the woods, then up the main path and back out the entrance.  Normally I see a few people with dogs, and maybe a few other joggers.  This is a great place to incorporate into your run if you live in the 'hood, to feel like maybe, for a few minutes before your day, you escaped it all.   Minus one star because some people don't clean up after their handsome pooches...

    P.S. I always use the East/SE entrance off Goodwin and Mitchell.
