At the risk of giving you TMI about brazillian bikini waxing, I'll just say that this place is great.  Great aestheticians, great prices and a no-tipping rule that really takes the stress off when you've just been suffering through a wax for twenty minutes.  Unfortch, pain-free is not something that any waxing place can offer.  However, SUW's aestheticians are very professional and matter of fact.  It's done quick, it's done right, and you don't feel like you left a piece of your soul in the waxing room when you're done.  This place is top notch.

Mkay.  Screw it.  I'll dive in and be guy #5 who's reviewed the 2 main waxing joints in this zip code.

(writes 2 semi-funny intros, electronically crumples them up and pitches them into the recycle bin)

And since I can't outgun Dan W for a humorous review from a guy (serious kudos, amigo :) ), I'll just sprint for the straight runthrough here.  I'm not a gorilla, thank the gods that dole out genetics, but every 3 months or so I like to get 'tidied up' as some guys might.  Besides, I'm job-hunting...may as well get everything else cleaned up while I get my suit pressed and my hair cut, right?  Yah.

The great:  Unlike their competitor (cough, iwon'tsaytheirname exceptithasthewordswaxandcityinit), the combo of services I requested online wasn't pushed to a week out.  They got me in the *next day*.  ORLY? YZ, RLY!  I don't know what's going on at that "other place", but yeesh WitC, how difficult can it be, your business waxes people, how can you not have people available for a week?  Come on. (And that's why I'm SUW's slave now.)

The good:  Probably everything else that's been covered by various people before.  It's reasonably priced.  It's relatively quick -- I imagine other, uh, services might take a bit longer.  It hurts less than laser does. (Laser, my friends, is *never* something you can blow off painwise -- nothing like having a tight rubber band snapped repeatedly at the same spot on your skin)  Everyone there is very professional and knows their stuff -- yes, even the Tier I's, where some new clients seem to be edgy.  The classification differences between the tiers are listed on their website, it'll tell you what the Tier I's are. And the place is clean, upbeat, has that 'urban vibe' about it...etc.

The meh:  I was juggled between technicians because their computer did "some weird stuff" that morning -- which was a little odd.  And although it's probably very very good for after-wax skin care, they were out of the "small" bottles of Tend Skin for $20/pop and took a swing at upselling me to the large bottle -- just a tad steep at $54/pop.  Yeah.....  I'd rather spend that type of money on a really pricey bottle of tequila. (Or getting a 10-fer gift card for Pho 95...)  And finally, I was told by the front receptionist there that I'd be given 10% off on some services since it was my first time -- but another person came on her shift in the middle of my services and I was charged the full price when I came out, the 1st receptionist hadn't left a note.

It was a solidly good experience for my 1st time, but not completely flawless.

At first I was not too interested in writing this review because I didn't want to over-share since I'll probably be the only person without lady parts to ever review this place.  And besides, this place is obviously awesome and it's not like another 5-star review is going to bump up their average much.  But after sitting on it for about a week I decided I was comfortable enough with my metrosexuality to write it up and the review has too much entertainment potential to pass on it.

Since they're very discrete for all you know I just have one really hairy big toe, so hairy that it and nothing else needs waxed.  Or maybe I just went to have my uni-brow converted back into a proper pair.   If you believe either of those then God help you, and we should talk more because there are some other facts I'd like to share with you.  Mother nature can be such a cruel bitch.

They were extremely fast both in terms of scheduling and the procedure itself, from getting a parking space to being back in my car was 30 minutes or less.  If only you could still get a pizza that quick.  I was also surprised at how inexpensive the whole thing was especially since there is a no-tipping policy.

The pricing is set up into tiers, and I think I did the level 2 but I think the lower tiers are probably fine if you are just getting simple stuff done.  By simple stuff I mean flat non-sensitive areas relatively free of Chakras and fresh tattoos, etc.  If you're getting a tattoo and waxed in the same week make sure you do them in the right order.  In case you're curious the tattoo I got on my freshly hairless Quadriceps was of Noah's Ark and it is on fire, and there is a Giraffe running away from the Ark with its head on fire while a wolf is biting its leg.  The flames above the ark rise to form the word "Mom."  It's a metaphor for my childhood.  Regardless, I don't see how I could have possibly gotten less painful or quicker waxing work done at any price.

They have a relaxing spa-style atmosphere and it really helps to take away from the fact that what you're visiting for is sometimes a bit painful, but I've confirmed it's way less painful when you let someone professional do it.
Definitely read the suggestions on their web site before you go, too.
It's only hair.  You won't miss it, I swear.

Holly is awesome. I could pretty much stop there. She's so great that I actually would want to hang with her and get a drink as friends. But that might be weird since she's seen parts of me that my mother hasn't seen since I was wearing diapers. Anyway, love her, so stars for Holly.

And then a non-tipping salon - huh?  Weird, but cool at the same time.

I had to take 1 star off for the time mix up at the front desk. Someone shifted my appointment time back by 30 minutes but didn't tell me. That was a little annoying. So one star off for that. This is totally fixable though and I may end up upping my review to 5 stars in the future.

I liked this place so, so much, but I want to get the one thing I didn't like out of the way first. They have a door buzzer. You have to call upstairs for them to let you in. It isn't a big deal, but for your first time it's strange and unfamiliar and so it threw me off a little.

But, that was it. That was the only thing I didn't like. The space is nice and open with lots of light and exposed brick in the waiting area. They give you a choice of trashy gossip magazines or more sophisticated stuff to read while you wait. And even though there is a large shelf of stuff for sale, they never push it on you for buying. It just sits there, you know, in case you're interested.

Then my esthetician, Rebekah was the bomb! I told her about my red face. Not my embarrassment issues, but the fact that when I go for waxing I look like I have a kool-aid mustache between my eyebrows because of my overly sensitive skin. And that I don't like lots of tweezing and all my other fears in a waxing room that are sure to drive these people crazy. She took it all in stride, made some suggestions for things that could help, waxed me up and the glory of glories! She put this cooler stuff on my red parts that also worked as a cover up, but didn't block my pours. Since you couldn't see my red parts I was free to get some coffee from Mutiny Now! and browse their records. Who knew life could be this good?

Pricing is in three tiers, based on experience on your esthetician and tip is included. Happy waxing!

Studio Urban Wax is my favorite - here is why:

1. Easy online booking
2. Easy parking on South Broadway (20 cents for 1 hour on the meters, Thanks Andee for the correction)
3. Clean, cute, urban loft
4. No tipping salon
5. Kim, who does amazing work and fantastic to chat with

I am sold on SUW. Great results, great place.

One of my best Yelp finds.  Thanks for the great info all. Just want to add I had my blonde eyelashes darkened here (dying sounds so harsh) right before a post-Xmas trip and I'm hooked.  Nice to wake up in the morning and have visible eyelashes.

I wish I could remember the awesome aesthetician's name, as I'd love to return to her.  Maybe it's in their zippy computer system; I like that you can book an appointment online.  Great block of Broadway to visit.  The gentleman at the desk went the extra mile to apologize when they were running late.  No worries; I'll be back again (every 6 weeks prolly.)

This is a great no-nonsense place to get your brows done. Rebekah (correct sp?) does a fantastic job. I'm a big fan of their no-tipping policy and of the great parking on Broadway.

I recommend scheduling your appointments before you walk out the door; they tend to get pretty busy.

Have you ever gotten your eye brows done and when the person hands you the mirror something just doesn't look right but you cant pin point where the problem is (after all, you ain't the eye brow expert). But since you're one of those too-nice customers, you just get up, thank the person, and walk away feeling disappointed and slightly annoyed.

Well that's been me several times as I tried out different brow places in Denver until I found Rebekkah and Studio Urban Wax. For my first visit I told her, I don't want no Pamela Anderson brows, natural is the way to go.

About Rebekkah, she is really friendly and detailed with her work. Some places doesn't take the time to wax you clean and they also neglect the little hairs around the side areas as long as your brows are shaped, but Rebekkah takes care of the little hairs as well. I really enjoy and recommend her eyebrow wax.

The place is clean and professional. Not to mention, Rebekkah gives me really nicely shaped brows every time I go. I am very picky when it comes to my brows ... bad brows will make me feel like $Hit for days but so far I've been happy to shell out the $20 bucks each time, but please note prices have gone up to $22 now with her.

I always think brows should not cost so much to maintain, but its worth it when you're laying there and know you're in good hands and wont walk out looking "surprised" or like you're "judging someone" (one brow high and one brow low).

Love the no tipping policy.  You know what you're paying when you make the apt. and there is not any pressure to tip.
One tip.  Don't schedule with a level 1 waxer if you don't have 45min to an hour to get the Brazilian!  Quick they are not, but they get the job done pretty well and everyone I've used has been very pleasant!

Love love love!

I just recently moved from Chicago and had no idea where I was going to get my oh-so-painful-yet-wonderful bikini waxes. I scheduled an appointment with Ashley, who is a Tier 1 (out of 3), which I was a bit skeptical about, as you never know how big the difference between experience levels is. I have only been once and haven't had a tier higher but can assure you that her experience is on par with every other great esthetician I've been too.

Great service and great price guarantees that I won't go anywhere else in the city.

I was a little put off when I first went in because it had the whole uncomfortable high end environment. I'm the easy going type of girl and don't usually feel comfortable indulging in such things... but uni-brow is just plain unattractive.
Anyway, I ended up seeing Rebekah and it was amazing to see what a difference a professional eyebrow wax can do... she didn't even pull out the hedge trimmer on my brows...heh. She gave me some great tips on skin care and made me feel comfortable there.

This past weekend I went to Studio Urban Wax for the first time, for a Brazilian.  Holly was my aesthetician, and she could not have been more sweet!  As for the wax itself, I never would have thought that getting my naughty bits waxed could be such a nice experience, but it was.  Holly kept me distracted with pleasant conversation, and the technique she used was practically painless compared to what I have grown accustomed to, and for much cheaper to boot.  Needless to say, I know where I'll be going from now on!

My fellow yelpers did not steer me wrong!!! I called on a Saturday to check availability for a brazilian.  Score-same day.  Originally was scheduled to have an appt with Rebekkah for whatever reason (which was not explained to me)  I ended up with Kristi.  I felt at ease with her.  The best part I was in & out of there in 20 minutes.  A brazilian is not the procedure to have drawn out.  She was efficient, friendly and professional.  The price was very reasonable & tip included.  Happy Waxing!!!

They just lost my biz!  I have been going to Urban Wax for a few months and have had issues with scheduling twice in the last two.  The first issue was when the scheduler did not put me down for the right services.  My esthetician was rushed to fit everything in that I asked to be scheduled for and did a horrible job, I still paid full price.  I told the owner and he convinced me to come again and scheduled me with another esthetician that was great, Holly.  He also told me that he would give me a free product for my feedback, which I never got.  I just left Urban Wax incredibly frustrated.  The girl at the front desk didn't answer the phone to buzz me in, and I had to wait for someone to come out to get in.  She also couldn't find my appointment in the computer, and she was the one to schedule me when I was in to get my legs waxed on Friday!  On Friday they were able to fit me into a last minute cancellation spot, but I couldn't make it in time to get all of the services I wanted.  I called her back twice to let her know what time I could make it in (we talked on the phone three times, and in person before and after my appointment) and she didn't even remember me!  She couldn't even find history of my appointment on Friday, she told me that last time I was in was in May?!  I left without a very convincing apology and a hairy danger zone.  Other than that, I have had great service from the owner who is there often to take appointments, and the new esthetician Holly.  Another plus is that they don't accept tips.  Am I the only one that has had problems with this new front desk girl?  As far as I'm concerned she just has to go!  Until then, I won't be back

As a regular waxer, I'm so glad I found Studio Urban Wax. Kim is Absolutely Wonderful! Monique is Fabulous too! I've had multiple Brazilians from different girls there and they're all wonderful. Very clean, friendly, Mod environment. Great prices, and great service. On street and metered parking, its also right on the bus route. As professionals, they do not accept tips. I have, and will, gone back frequently. HIGHLY recommended. Thanks for your time!
