I cheated on Senay!!!
It is 9/9/9, and I wanted to celebrate with new hair. Senay is on vacation, and won't be back for two more weeks, so what was I to do? My hair is naturally curly, and needs to be cut/shaped every 6 weeks, or I have an afro. Eva was so sweet, and she did a rock star job- especially on my bangs. My hair has a nice swing to it! I even got a compliment on my hair (which NEVER happens to me) within 15 minutes of leaving the salon. Gracias, Eva!!!!

I've been coming here for 8 years. The price is right. The place is great.
1. They don't talk and talk and talk. I'm not looking to make a new best friend when I get my haircut.
2. Sometimes there's no music - which is fine with me... I hate listening to bad music when I get a haircut!!!
3. It is really convenient and next to the Grind.
4. I have super curly hair and have had 2 inches to 10 inches of hair throughout the last 8 years - they always make me look great!
5. They are very fast.
6. I never need an appointment.

I have been going to Super Chops for years (Super cuts!!), but they have recently raised their prices! So I was looking for some place that was close and cheaper. I was told about this place by friends. It's in the area...............and heck if they F*ck up my hair.....it's summer time anyway and it will grow back! My hair isn't that hard to cut anyway!
Walk in at 12:30 sit down and "zip" with the clippers, a little "snip snip snip" and i was done in 7 minutes! Amazing! And it looks good!
I will be back, the only negative is they don't take Credit card!!!

I got my hair cut here on my wedding day, back when it was eight bucks.
As a man with straight hair, I had no reason to spend any more. My wife suggested it, in fact.
Everybody here is skilled and QUICK. If you're like me, and you just want to get a trim with no nonsense, this is the place.
I've been going here since I moved into the neighborhood five years ago, and I've had only one or two bad experiences (and the employee in question doesn't even work there anymore). elena is so nice, and she does such a wonderful job with my hair--she even did my hair for my wedding last year, and everyone raved about it. and hello, the price. it's more than it used to be, yeah, but it's still a good bargain. yay!
edited 7/09: important to note that, of course, elena and kemal are now running wmc salon. a little further out of my way, but honestly, i am so weird about my hair that when i find a good stylist i will follow them anywhere.

I think the "key" word for this hair cut joint is affordable.......let me explain.
I lived in Albany Park late last year and was in Lincoln Square one weekend looking for a haircut place. I went into two places on the same block and asked about walk-in ability and cost. Studio 4 Hair and Renessence Studio were to two places. Studio 4 Hair was ready for walk ins at that moment......Renessence Studio had no availability of stylist for walk in for another 3 hours (I've experienced this more than once with them). Studio 4 Hair cost was $10.....Renessence Studio was $39! (mens hair cut mind you....so mileage may vary)
So, I picked Studio 4 Hair and I'm glad I did. I've always walked in...waiting no more than 5 minutes max! They ask what you want, check and see half way through if you are happy and basically get the job done. Now was my hair always done perfect? No. Have I had to from time to time get home and make a little snip here and there to shore up a few places that slipped through....Yes.
But considering all of the above and the price of $10 it really cannot be beat. I'd much rather get my hair cut monthly and pay $120+/- with tip for a year rather than some other places where you are spending $460+ annually (and that is WITHOUT tip - YIKES! That is almost 400% times higher in price difference.) I realize everyone needs to make coin in this city, but I'm struggling with the differences that occur for some business verses others? What exactly am I getting different....decor and rows of hair product I'll never buy there?
So, getting back on track.....if you are looking for a no nonsense haircut place that is very affordable and does a "good" job without any bells and whistles then Studio 4 Hair is for you.

You really can't beat a $10 mans hair cut. I have had my hair cut here for over a year and a half now. Although I am never really sure who will be cutting my hair, I rest assured knowing that it will grow back eventually and enjoy the great price. There's no need for a reservation. You can usually get in and get out fairly quickly.

Fabu-licious. Totally affordable. Went with a guy friend who got an easy cut. I got something more interesting with texture and razoring. Fast, simple, easy--my hair, their service. I will totally go back. We walked in and hardly had to wait.
This is no slick high-end boutique, of course. If you think you need atmosphere to get a good cut, skip this place. If you want functional and well done, local, and you are really frugal--then this is heaven in a haircut.
This is the first time --EVER-- a stylist did my hair without an ounce of product **and** it looked fabulous! I feel bad. I should have given a 50% tip.
I should warn anyone reading this review that I get my hair cut maybe 2 or 3 times a year (and I have SHORT hair!) so take this review with a grain of salt.
I've been going to Studio for Hair 1-2 years .... so I've been there a total of 3 or 4 times. Overall I've always left pleased with the experience. The hair dresser wets my hair down and gives me a quick cut. They always do a decent job - I stopped being obsessive about my hair a few years ago, I usually just pull it back in a ponytail.
My last trip to Studio 4 Hair was definitely the best - I had a new stylist Ana (?) who I described everything I dislike about my hair - its foofy, its curly/wavy but just looks messy if I let it dry naturally and it gets tangled. My only "musts" - had to be able to push my hair behind my ears. She did a great job and gave me a pretty stylish cut for just $15.00. She doesn't make awkward conversation either which I really like ... I've had stylists that get carried away in conversation and end up chopping off WAY too much.
I like the cut enough that I might actually maintain it and stop by for a trim in 6 weeks or so!

All I've stopped in here for was a quick bang trim... quick indeed. I was in and out in well under 10 minutes, and they only charged me $5. I get my hair done elsewhere, but this is a really convenient place to walk to in Lincoln Square if you just need a simple thing like bangs done.
