I was here 2 weeks ago to get 2 more piercings in my lip... Had a snakebite and wanted to make it a double. After having a couple of communication problems with another place in getting an appointment set up, I figured I would give 1904 a shot. I'll be honest, at first I was apprehensive since it looked like this is primarily a tattoo shop and the piercing I wanted was just a slight bit more advanced. I bumped into Randy a couple of times in the neighborhood and he said it would be no problem at all with the piercings I wanted to get and to just drop by anytime.
Well drop by I did... the place has a great setup, he's very clean and organized and accommodating. The piercing was done perfectly, both rings were inserted, everything went smooth with no problems or anything of the sort. It's been exactly 2 weeks to the day and my lip is completely healed up. Randy and the rest of the people that were working that night were very helpful and I would recommend their place to anyone considering getting a piercing done. I'll definitely be returning... oh and the prices are very awesome too! -

Whoohoo, indeed!!
I had a blind date last night and I was a little edgy, so I figured I could get a piercing to help settle my nerves. Plus, well, you know, I live right around the corner from 1904 and Yelp is always reminding me that they have a great check-in offer that gets you a piercing at 50% off.
I officially met Randy for the first time and he is just as great as all my fellow yelpers say he is. I went in without a clue of what I should have mutilated, especially because I have a job that doesn't allow anything to be visible while at work. Randy gave me suggestions and let me talk myself through my options. He actually offered a bit of a buy one, get one half off deal before I even showed him the offer on Yelp, so that was really awesome.
I ended up doing a dermal implant on my right neck/shoulder area and it came out great. There wasn't a lot of pain, even though I think he was having a bit of trouble getting the anchor in. I got just one for the first time, but I'm definitely going to get a matching one on my left side and you can rest assured that I will be returning to the competent hands of Randy.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I was here tonight with my friend who is visiting and going back to school next week.. so we figured it was a good time for her to get her nose pierced! We walked in and were greeted by Randy, who was incredibly nice, and gave us the $10 discount on her piercing because we mentioned Yelp.
The piercing was quick, and he let me take a ton of obnoxious pictures of my friend while she was getting it done... so he gets brownie points for that one! ha.
I wanted to get a new tattoo tonight, but hubby said no for now :( But for my next tattoo, I think I'll be going to Randy! -

Unfortunately, after a month or so after I got my nipples pierced by Randy I started to have problems. It turns out he pierced my nipples with barbells that were too small and ended up putting way too much pressure on my nipples which caused a lot of pain. That would be my only complain but other than that he was a cool guy.

I already had my nose pierced twice, but I decided to get it pierced again! Third times a charm, right? Well, I walked in and was greeted by a man who was tattoing a girl. Asked me what I wanted, and told him.
He took a break from the tattoo to pierce my friend & I. He was very nice, I believe his name was Randy. The piercing didn't take very long and I appreciated his customer service. My nose piercing came out to be $35 with tip and $10 off because I came in this month.
I will most likely be back :) -

So, I was searching for a reputable establishment, with competitive prices, and high-quality work. Thank you, Yelp! Studio 1904 was the highest-rated local tattoo parlor, and after reading the rave reviews, I decided to contact them for a consultation.
Randy got back to me super-quick after I e-mailed him out of the blue with a picture and a request of my tattoo. He told me to drop by the next day at 4:30pm, and when I got there, he was just finishing a client (I have no idea how he judges time so well!). He had my photo printed and ready to go, and after making the adjustments I wanted to the pattern, he sized it and the next thing I knew, I was on the table getting inked.
Randy was so patient with me (I got the tattoo on my ribs/waist, and I don't know WHAT I was thinking!) while I was under the needle. I tried to stay as still as possible, but every once in a while, I would flinch, and he just gently reminded me not to move, and spoke with a very soothing tone. I'm not a tattoo virgin, this was actually my fifth, but it had been a while, and I was incredibly nervous at first. Randy was so chill, I couldn't help but relax.
Afterward, he allowed me to admire myself for a few moments, then taped me up and swiped my card. His pricing was right in the middle of the range I wanted to be in, so I happily added a tip, and limped off to my car. :)
I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to get a tattoo, they are very clean, efficient, and friendly, on the practical side of things, and they produce a genuinely high-grade product. Thanks again, Randy! I'll be back :)
On a side note: I would recommend contacting Randy in advance, he was booked all the way up until I came in at 4:30pm, and while he was consulting me, a couple of girls tried to do a walk-in, but, obviously, he was busy. I'm sure walk-ins are fine, but this place seems to keep pretty busy, so an appointment would probably be best. -

So despite using yelp for the past few years I have finally decided to contribute back and write my first review about Studio 1904 because of the amazing service I received.
While visiting my friend in San Diego I decided that I wanted to get a tattoo. While browsing through many of the other tattoo shops in San Diego I came to the conclusion that they were all going to be way over priced for what I wanted. I finally came upon Studio 1904 and decided to check it out.
I called in and Randy gave me a reasonable price for what I wanted and he said that he could take me in that same day despite the last minute appointment. When I went in he was very friendly and was very patient with me when I wanted to alter my tattoo couple times. I would highly recommend Randy to others if they are looking for a good quality tattoo that isn't going to tear a hole in their pocket. =) -

Okay so the first time I went there I got my nose pierced. They did a good job. A nose piercing is not hard. I also went with some friends and they got matching tattoos and they came out nice. The last and only time I will ever go again. I went with a friend and we were gonna get our tongue pierced. Everything was going good. He pierced my tongue put could not put the ring in. After all the pain no tongue ring. His excuss was that they ordered the needless smaller and he was not used to that. So then he asked if I wanted another piercing. I said yes the industrial. Well I wish I would have said no because he messed up that one. He pierced my ears in both places but could not put the earing in. After that I just wanted to get out. My friend did not get a piercing. They offered to pierce me free next time but I never went back.

Got my first [consensual] piercing here.
Experience was very pleasant, I was very nervous, based on past experiences, but it was over quickly, they were VERY sterile about it, and the guy doing the piercing was really friendly. It's been almost a year, and the piercing healed perfectly, no complications.
I'd really recommend this place for most folks, it's a top-knotch shop, and the employees have a LOT of experience if you're looking for someone with references. Oh, and the prices leave nothing to complain about either. -

Well me n my friend found this place here in yelp... Good 5 star review so we decided to go here to get our tattoos.. The place is very nice n clean n da staff r just so nice...Jerry did my first tattoo I had so many question n he had so many answers lol we ended up gettin our belly pierce =D only $40 n my tattoo $60 very resonable price... Thank you studio 1904 I'll be back for another tat...

GREAT!!
Husband and I wanted to get ring finger tattoos for our anniversary. By pure luck, we passed Studio 1904 and went in. Clean, sterile, and friendly.
Randy wrote out the words we wanted and placed them perfectly.
I was beyond nervous cuz I'm a big baby, but he was professional and friendly which made the experience even better.
Tattoos came out AWESOME and to top it all off, he touched up the writing on an old wrist tattoo for nothing additional.
Good prices too...
Definitely recommend for his skill and the pleasant professional environment... did I mention the big screen with the game on?? Woo hoo! -

One of my favorite shops in SD! I was first told about this place through a friend. Now I have three tattoos from here!
Randy is a real cool guy who tells it how it is and does great work. He is always really fair in his pricing, especially for us military folk.

I'm pretty new to San Diego and hadn't had any tattoos done down here yet, so I looked on yelp the other day when I decided it was time for some new ink. This place had great reviews, so I decided to check it out. It was as good as everyone here has said! Walked in and Randy asked me what I wanted, I told him and he drew it up for me right away. He was very professional, and everything was very clean. My tat turned out exactly how I wanted, and it looks awesome! I'll definitely be back!
