I went here on a Thursday afternoon with my parents, aunt and uncle, and all the kids.  There were 5 children, 17 months, 5, 6, 7, and 15 (me).  I've been here maybe four times before, but this was probably the best time.

They have so many things to do that every kid had a blast.  Wegmans, Discovery Zone, Sesame Street, a butterfly exhibit we all found things to do.  They have a DDR machine that you can play for free, and at the time I was there a traveling exhibit of classic video games!  And we were only in half the museum!  There's a history of toys and more upstairs that we didn't even see and everything is focused on encouraging kids to play, use their imaginations, and be creative.

There's crafts and books and places for infants and toddlers to play.  The price is fine, and be sure to plan for a long day, because you'll want to do everything.

When it comes time to close they have a "Goodbye Parade" that leads right to the front door, making it a painless way to get the kids out without any yelling or fighting.

I highly suggest this as a great day trip destination.  It's sure to please.

THIS IS THE BEST PLACE IN THE WHOLE WORLD!
SO SO SO MUCH FUN
Even though I am much older than the children who go here, I spent hours here and had a blast looking at all the toys and shopping at the kids grocery center. Great butterfly exhibit too. You have to bring your kids here and if you're older and want to reminisce about your childhood, come here too. It was only 10 bucks for adults, which was unbelievable cheap for how amazing this place was.

I visited here right before they shut down for renovation. Perhaps that was my mistake. It was clear the museum had an extensive collection, but there was absolutely no context for the collection. Many of the exhibits had no explanation and other objects weren't even labelled. Why am I looking at a bunch of old washing machines? What does this have to do with play? Sesame street section and grocery store area for children was great though.

Wanted to go back for the butterfly area, but was bummed to find out there is no separate entry. I may go back in another year or so.

This is a pretty fun museum, and no, I don't have children.  Lots of old toys to look at (and some to play with too).

The Strong Museum of Play is a world class children's museum. I've been to numerous museums around the world and a bunch of "children's museums." This one puts them all to shame.

Give yourself plenty of time. As much as there is for kids to play with, you are sure to run across a bunch of your old favorites no matter how old you are. The second floor in particular is full of a zillion toys from the last 200 years and includes a "Hall of Fame" that adults shouldn't miss.

The food court is strangely filled with highly processed foods, with Subway being one of the better options. The Bill Gray's in the "diner" at the entrance looks to be the best bet, but I can't vouch for it.
