Category: Sandwiches [Edit]
Neighborhood: CoronadoHealthy, tasty food. A bit cramped but you can usually get in. Sadly, most of the time when I set out for Stretch's, I smell the grease from Night & Day next door and end up there in greazzy heaven.

Healthy and tasty sandwiches and salads. My Mom swears by their chicken, spinach, and mushroom plate, but it's too peppered for me. Very cutesy beach theme; lots of pastels and bright colors. But there's something I enjoy about a place where they prepare your food behind the counter you order from.
I don't find myself in Coronado that much any more, but if I'm ever down there during the day, it's the perfect place to stop for lunch.
I wanted to give Stretch's more stars. I was set to give Stretch's more stars. But they done messed it up today, and it was very unfortunate.
I'd passed them before, and wanted to try the cute little hole-in-the-wall diner, and today, armed with my dogeared copy of Douglas Adams' "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency," I was prepared to do just that.
I walked in, blinking in surprise, as Stretch's is far larger inside than you'd appear from the cramped space its storefront occupies. The inside seemed airy, brightly lit and welcoming, but it was nice outside, and I'd already snagged the one picnic table out front. I ordered an omelette with potatoes and asked for a tortilla instead of toast. The omelette arrived just as I got a phone call, so I couldn't wonder out loud where my damned tortilla was. Still talking on the phone, and breadless, I chose to dig in, assuming I'd be delivered my bread. I wasn't.
I got off the phone, looked at my half finished meal and decided to eat it first. Then, annoyed, I walked back in to ask for my bread, this time in wheat toast form since they'd clearly forgotten my tortilla. The worker, a sweet teen-aged girl, apologized profusely and offered to make up for it. I asked for my wheat toast instead and walked back to my chair outside.
The twenty minute breadless delay convinced me they'd once again forgotten it.
I walked in, and they looked at me blankly before I reminded them. Then cue more apologies, and overall sadness. Finally, an hour after expected, I got my damn bread. The waitress was genuinely apologetic and offered to comp me a soup or something, but I was by then irritable. I might give Stretch's a shot again, but they're gonna need to give me my damn bread. Atkins may have been against it, but that fool was lame. I'm sure as hell gonna die happy and carb/starch filled.

i like this place , occassionaly...
they can serve up some pretty tasty "good for you food" although when i had the lentil burger, it was dry and overloaded with burnt sunflower seads and avocado. the bun was scorched and they decided to send it to me like that. erg. that is not cool. i must tsay their breakfast plates look good, especially the pancakes.
also, it takes forevvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeeeeer to get your food.
Stretches Is a great place to go for healthy food for either breakfast or lunch. Its a little small but its pretty cheap and pretty simple, its been here forever and theres not much more to say about it.
