Yum!

I was visiting a friend on the island and she insisted that I try this place out. Everything on the menu is excellent. Just make sure that whatever you order, get a biscuit with some of their amazing jelly.

It's like you died and went to heaven.

Con, long lines on the weekend so get up early to get a good seat :)

I was happy to finally be able to try the Streamliner after dark! they have been up and running with the new dinner menu for some time but have never be able to make it for dinner. They are closed Sunday and Monday nights, so I went on the first Thursday I could.

Its a very Italian menu with about 14 or so selections. We had Seafood linguine and a lasagna. Both we outstanding! We chose the smaller portions which were more than enough food.

I couldn't believe the seafood on the linguine! the scallops were huge and cooked perfectly! with calamari, mussels and shrimp. it was amazing. The lasagna was very nice, you could tell they made the sauce with hearty tomatoes and lots of garlic and onion. There was ample cheese and ,eat in the sauce, but i never get enough cheese. Everything was served with a great crusty bread and extra virgin olive oil for dipping. We finished with a bananas foster, with strawberries - different but great!

There is a limited wine menu - 3 wines by the glass and ad 1 more by the bottle. the wines were good, pleasant and appropriate. I would like to see more Italian wines, like a Chianti reserva or something, bu the sangiovese we had was pleasant. We also had a nice Washington sirah, but i think the Italian wine was more rounded and balanced.

I love the staff and Christina the owner is just a doll. It is always a pleasure to go there - I hope i get a few more nights off soon so I can have dinner there again soon!

Everything was huge and plentiful but there was some hit and some misses.

The breakfast was standard, everything turned out okay. My lover enjoyed the breakfast completely and me always seemingly being drunk or hungover on this island could give a shit less about the eggs and absolutely devoured a delicious peach muffin they had.

Service is great, has character and they are attentive. They even cook up everything right in front of you! It's a testament to the small community. If you are in the mood for a hearty breakfast, this is the place to go.

PS. An oddity of the place is the t-shirt they sell with the ferry schedules. The ferry schedules are placed upside down to be viewable to you should you be wearing it. I'm sure so many funny stories come out of that! Genius.

Went with my family for breakfast this morning.
I love the atmosphere, and the staff is really nice.
I had the Farmer Joe's omelet with fruit salad and an english muffin. Good. Their strawberry jam is AMAZING. Good coffee too.
The biscuits looked really good.
Just what you would expect.

bustling place so my bf and i thought it must be good. food was just ok. i kind of thought it would be better than average since it was so busy. we got the chili egg scramble. i think the menu said something about it being their signature chili but everything was just kind of bland. another forgettable meal.

the strawberry jam looked radioactive but it's really good. the toast comes pre-buttered. add jam and you've one piece of tasty toast. this was the best part of the meal. make sure you get the strawberry jam because they also have rasberry but it's not as good.

the place has a very friendly family owned feel to it. the service is decent. we didn't have jam at our table so the waitress got one from another table and the jar was practically empty. i was doing some major scraping and then just went to another table and took their jam. found that slightly wierd. maybe they're really out of jam.

We heard good word of mouth from the locals and so decided to check it out recently. Our experience began well enough, but by the end of the meal we swore never to return and left without tipping. Only one of the waitresses seemed to have any experience and she was essentially working the entire restaurant while another played with her hair and a third ignored customers. We concluded some staff had to be related to the owner because no one would ever hire them. Once we gave our orders, it was nearly impossible to get any further attention. One person in our party did not receive his full meal until the rest of us were done eating. It was blamed on the kitchen staff although we could hear the conversation between waitress and kitchen that made it evident it was not ordered the first time. We don't know if they overheard us complaining about the service, but after that we were ignored by the staff.  I'm giving it 2 stars because the two of us who ordered omelets thought they were good, but the others felt their meals were standard fare.

Everytime I eat here, I make a Beeline for the toilet soon after.

This is a typical Bainbridge joint:

-beloved based on the sweet ladies who owned and operated it back in the day

-cherished because they refuse to "sell out" and spiff the place up. (As if new vinyl tablecloths will attract the dreaded Range Rover Mamas taking over the island).

-food (and coffee) ranges from mediocre to total crap

Go to Big Star - solid mediocre with a few good items here and there

It was a Wednesday morning and I wanted breakfast on Bainbridge Island.  Thankfully, the Streamliner was happy to oblige with a fantastic omelette, a fresh baked peach granola muffin, and a well-mixed glass of chocolate milk.

The service was good, the place was small but airy, and I walked out satisfied.  It's as good a diner as any I've been to.

Very impressed with the folks and food at the Streamliner! My wife, daughter and I dropped in for Easter brunch and we're able to not only get a  table in short order but were treated warmly on such a cold wet day. One thing that always amazes me is how some restaurants handle those of us with children. Neither I nor my wife expect to be pandered to for having a child nor do I expect to be shunned. The waitstaff at Streamliner treated our daughter with respect and courtesy as if she were any other patron. They accommodated our request for her without any preconditions or snark. Very nicely done.

I ordered the fritatta special, which in spite of having a number of rich ingredients was light and flavorful. My wife's omelette was equally delicious. Of course, our daughter was happy with her meal as she'd chosen it to some degree. While I found the coffee to be an excellent addition to the meal, the standouts for me were the homemade biscuits with fresh strawberry jam and the coconut and pineapple muffins. Really something special.

All in all, I'd gladly return the next time we're up there and can't recommend it enough if you haven't had the pleasure.

Wow, looks like I'm really going to have to justify my existence here.  You'll have to excuse me, as it's been a while since my last visit.

Streamliner Diner is my favorite place on Bainbridge Island.  I've been there about a half-dozen times, and each time I've been impressed.  The folks behind the counter are incredibly hard-working.  I could never, ever do this job.  The food they turn out shows their effort.  It's not exactly traditional diner fare.  The potato salad is chunky; that's going to turn some people off.  I couldn't disagree with "waterlogged" more.

Stand-outs include the meatloaf sandwich, and the choice-of-cheese omelettes (assuming you choose wisely, of course).  The biscuits and  muffins are home-made and a delight.  I've never found something on the menu that's left me cold.  All of these one-star reviews shock me to no end.

Perhaps this is a love/hate sort of place.  I'm surprised, to say the least.

Good breakfast! My omelet was huge! Potatoes were good, and biscuit was good. My one gripe is that this place is a cash/check only place. This really bothers me as I am the type of person that never carries cash with me. Other than that, the food was great, a little pricey for breakfast food but it was great.

Typical diner food, cooked fast, good service, friendly staff. My veggie potatoes were delicious (see picture!) and my biscuit was cooked perfectly. The strawberry jam is decadent. Perfect breakfast place on Bainbridge Island, I recommend it!

suprisingly bad. potatoes taste like theyve been soaking in old, dirty water, tofu is tasteless. i cant figure out why people are so convinced this is good food, there really isnt anywhere in kitsap to get good breakfast, we just dont know any better obviously. the waitstaff is really friendly, but forgetful and if they could ever bother to ask 'how is everything today?' i might tell them 'bad.' but i finally learned my lesson and wont be back, Oo... I have NOT tried the dinner, but i am hopeful becasue of the new chef.

Man this place looked good from the outside but wasn't worth the visit. We didn't have to wait long but the food was just bland. That place really wasn't a diner to say because they didn't even have a burger on the menu. Ended up getting a tuna sandwich and potato salad which was just a simple sandwich. Maybe if they offered a real diner menu they could win us back, but for now they wouldn't see us again...sorry Streamliner.

Potatoes that are waterlogged and bland tasting.  Floppy waffles that taste overwhelmingly of baking soda.  Not sure why the line is out the door on the weekend - Nostalgic locals?  Unwitting tourists?  I don't know.  All I know is that I've struck out every time I've come here, so I give up.

Down-home cooking in a bright atmosphere. It's not your typical diner.  I love their soups! Breakfast is served all day, too. Food is good. Only drawback is they close at about 3p.
