Simple review --

If you can get a discount (such as from the internet) for less than $100/round, go for it.

We tried to play Sunday morning during the Labor Day holiday and they were charging $160 per player! Worst part was they were smug about it.

Anything over $100 for this course is not worth it. For that matter, all the "high end" courses in OC is not worth more than $100 (like Oakcreek, Talega, Monarch Beach, Tijeras Creek). It's really a shame these OC courses are still charging these rates during a recession. Most high end courses outside Orange County are as good if not better in many aspects and are half the cost.

Overpriced, overplayed.  Mow the greens please.  The course design isn't great to begin with.  They could make up for this by keeping the condition up but that is not the case.  Greens are mediocre at best.  I heard the greenskeeper at Costa Mesa's muni courses consults here.  The greens are way better at Costa Mesa.  I would only come out here for a comped corporate event/tourney.  If I had clients to take out I would bring them to Oak Creek which is much more forgiving and suited for corporate golf.  The course does not try enough to be well maintained for a premium course.  A perfect example is the gaudy fake waterfall on 18.  It looks great from the fairway but then you get up close and the water is rank and smells foul.  I would say though that there is some type of plant that grows all over the course that smells very pleasant.

The range isn't great either.  Usually it's mats and there's no short game facility aside from the practice putting green.  The food's pretty good here though.

Brought my daughter here yesterday for some pracrice with her Grandpa.  Pretty secenery and easy to find.  The prices are steep for adults but fro kids $50!
There was no where to proactice chipping and you could only hit off matts in the driving range.  The food was just so-so.
I still can't get over the fact that you can smoke all over the place.  Yuck!

A friend of a friend took us here for brunch one morning when we were visiting LA and I wasn't expecting to eat on a golf course...?

Anyway, I had their pastrami sandwich with a side of their fries and it was absolute delish! Their fries are almost shoestring-ish fries so they complimented the sandwich well. I was quite pleased.

Minus one star for the heat that gave me a funky tan on my arms. The umbrella that "shaded" us could have been slightly bigger -- that would have helped. Other than that, it was a peaceful morning in Irvine.

I flew down to visit my sister in Irvine and decided to check out Strawberry. It is a nice well maintained course. The driving range is nice, not to mention being natural grass. I am planning on heading back here again. Too bad I don't get the resident rate lol.

I probably heard too many good things about this in the past from others and ended up disappointed. It is not a bad course, but not very memorable besides a couple holes. The fairways are good in parts and thin in parts. Rough is very different among spots. Near the hole it is very tall and thick, like Torrey Pines, but around the fairway, it can be very thin and bare in spots. Bunkers are ok. Tee boxes are ok as well, but sometimes have to tee it up 2 or 3 times as there are holes in the tee boxes. Greens are ok, and would be better, but many people do not repair their own marks. In fact, there are lots of unfixed divots and unraked bunkers around the course. You can't fault the course, as that is their clients fault. I would never pay the rack rate of 3 digits for this course, as there are so many others I would go for first, and a few local muni's that I'd rather play. Even the 2 for 1 deal was pushing if for me. I won't be back here. It did not live up to the hype.

My fiancé and I came here to look at the place for a wedding. I talked to Heather (in charge of the weddings here) before hand and she told us to just come by, no appt. necessary, and she would answer any questions we had and give us a tour. Well, we came by at the time we said we would and couldn't find her. When we asked someone if they knew where she was and they contacted her over the radio. She asked him if we had an appt. and I said that she told us it wasn't necessary. She told us she was too busy planning with another wedding so we were a little pissed we drove there for nothing. I wouldn't even want my wedding here anyways. SO OVERPRICED, and the ceremony is a stones throw away from the parking lot. And i'm not even picky, but c'mon! Who wants to look at a parking lot full of cars while you're walking down the aisle?

one of the cutest places ive attended a wedding. definitely for the couple who wants to take the off-beaten path, as it isnt the typical hotel/ballroom-type venue. the hors d'œuvres were delicious, probably the best ive eaten at a wedding. and the barn setting for the reception was quite adorable.

a strong 4, possibly 4.5 stars.

I've played better courses for less money but this one is pretty good. The lay out is great the course is in good condition the sand is not that cement that some courses have. Free warm up balls is always good, the GPS tips are sometimes funny, my only gripe with this course is the price. If your not worried about cost this course is right up your alley.  I just feel because its in OC that they can get away with the price. We went on a 2 for 1 deal and spent $80 and that I felt was reasonable. If I had to pay full price my tone would be different. If you do end up playing the course, when in doubt  putt it straight at the hole the breaks are not there. I burned 8 edges when the ball didn't break at all.

I had such high hopes for this course, but I was disappointed.  It is to much money for what you get.  Ive played much nicer courses for less money.

The pro shop and club house are nice, but not great. Free warm up balls on the range, but not being able to hit your driver, not so nice.  Good layout, some long holes and great par 3's. The back 9 has pretty views of the mountains and lake.  My biggest complaint was the fairways, they're covered in crab grass!  I was expecting something more like a beautiful velvety green fairway.  Instead I got a hard, crab grass fairway.  The greens were easy to read and in good condition, very little break, just aim for the center of the cup.  The GPS unit on the cart is nice, but the cart (or at least the one we had) was a little beat up.   Overall an okay experience, but I will not be coming back here.

Not for the faint of heart. Or for the frugal.

My brothers and I grew up playing golf with my dad and grandpa. Now we rarely get out, and when we do, we still play with hand-me-down clubs and fluorescent balls.

My wife and I had our wedding reception in the big red barn here, so my brother was inspired to get my dad a gift certificate for a round here. My dad had to use it immediately and got a tee time for us.

My dad still has his game, but I'm playing polo but without a horse.

This course is beautiful. Probably the best in Orange County. It's tucked away between two ridges. There's a small lake that attracts all sorts of wildlife and golf balls. (Half a dozen of my balls felt the call of the wild.)

But it's not cheap. If you're game is fine, you'll find it worth the money for a challenging and gorgeous course.

For me, well, I paid $150 to lose several boxes of balls and the respect of our entire foursome.

Non golf issues: Great restaurant, great facilities for events, I think I would like to have my wedding here one day...maybe the next one too. I see a lot of outdoor weddings done here with the reception in the barn next door. It's a wonderful place to hold your company tournaments and receptions. The practice range their is nice too, grass tees, great pros and two nice, undulating practice greens.

Now the course, picturesque, fun, a good mix of narrow and wide fairways. The front nine is honestly quite easy and that's the only place where one can get good scores because the back nine is a monster. The last two holes there (a long par 3 and an uphill par 4 to a long multi level green) are diabolical. You can lose your whole round on these two holes.

Last, like most golf courses in the Irvine/Tustin/Mission area, it's quite expensive. That's its only detractor. But play this course once. If you really like become a member. But if want the same type of course but half the price, play the courses out in Corona, Glen Ivy or in the I.E.

I've eaten here several times now and all of the dishes are fresh and tasty.  If you like fruit and you like salad, I highly recommend their Waldorf Chicken salad.  This salad comes with FRESH fruits (grapes, strawberries, mandarin oranges), grilled chicken, and a creamy dressing with just a hint of cinammon in it.  Their sandwiches are also delicious.  Make sure to get there early for lunch if you don't want to wait too long for a table (before noon is good).

The atmosphere might be great at the restaurant but the service is awful.  It's not the servers faults, rather it's the fact that typically there is one maybe two people serving the entire restaurant.

As far as golf, great course and layout but a bit pricey.

Bring some balls!

This course is wicked hard!  Lots of thick crap to lose your ball or sleeves of balls in if you're not good at keeping it on the fairways and greens.

Expensive course to play as well but what decent courses in OC aren't an arm and leg.  Be sure to tip your cart guy!  (I worked here back in my college days).

Beautiful course though and a fairly decent restaurant to eat in before or after your tee time.  Also a ton of weddings occur here which should tell you how picturesque it is.

The driving range is ok - you're either hitting off the turf or sometimes mats if it gets too worn.

The owner used to be an Angel so sometimes you will see sports stars in town.  When I was there, Teemu was a regular and Shaq was in once.

This is a very tough course.  I think this course has gone downhill in quality and maintenance since it opened.  The fees are high for everything else I mentioned from above.

There are a lot of narrow fairways, so accuracy is key.

The banquet facilities are pretty nice as is the clubhouse.  Practice facilities are pretty nice here.

3 stars for the FOOD,  (No experience on the course)
OK the HOT DOG was pretty good.
Dinner on a Sunday night
Nachos.. Impressive looking with good portions of toppings..probably the best part of the meal (no.... it was the free refills on sodas). but not what I would call great Nachos.
Tuna Sandwich (I know we ordered a Tuna Sandwich.. was it?))
grilled Panini...   bread was OK a bit dry but it is a dry bread.  But why did you HAVE to BURN the grill lines (They tasted like charcoal) into the bread. Perhaps a bit to busy with the wedding party in the barn and forgot about my sandwich.  The fries LOOKED good but they must have been sitting out while my sandwich was being branded as they were cold and soft (last time I recall they were pretty good fries and I looked forward to that part of the meal.

one of my favorite places to go hit some balls. i'm a novice and i need my peace and quiet. the ppl who go are more mature than other places like the one on michelson. i only go there when all the other ranges are closed.

strawberry farms is clean and nice. the price for balls are a little more expensive than others but you get what you pay for. i haven't been back since last october-novemberish because of day light savings. but i think weekdays: $7 for 50 balls and $12 for 100. they try to sell you this frequent customer card but it's not really worth it unless you come on the weekends and buy 100 balls. you save like $2 or something. i think you also get 2 free buckets. i'm not sure but unless you come often, i wouldn't recommend buying it.

they also close off the course on either tuesday or wednesday for maintenance. rookie classes are also held there and sometimes they take up more than half of the range. some ppl start making their owne space off to the sides to hit. kinda ghetto b/c they don't have patience to wait. bad angle too. but to each their own.

during the fall, they closed at 8pm. they have lights when it gets dark. weekends can get pretty crowded and they tee off the grass. weekdays, you tee off of astro turf. that, i don't know why. maybe someone can tell you why they do that.

i've eaten only once at the resturant. the food seemed affordable and decent. you can grab a drink and sit outside on the porch to enjoy all the rookies (like me) make fools outta themselves or admire the pros swing.

watch out, there's one dood who is a total "golf-attire" nazi. i got reamed  for not wearing proper pants, shoes and shirt. to prove how much i like this place, i went out and bought pants, gloves, shoes and shirts. HA! i guess they really want to uphold the "image." which oddly enough, i do respect. =P

although i've never tried the 18 hole course, or any course for that matter, i've heard that strawberry is pretty good and expensive to play. when i get better, i will one day try. but i don't want to piss anyone off just yet.

I'm only reviewing the food here. I had the Chef's Waldorf Salad and it was the best thing I ever had. Everyone else also loved their food (rueben sandwich). The salad was fruit & a sweet dressing that had cinnamon. It was to die for. The service was ok, not great but descent for a group of 5 ladies.

You don't have to be a member to eat here.  Their restaurant is the perfect location for a brunch with friends or a famliy gathering since it seats large parties even outside their patio.  Very casual, laid back atmosphere.  It's not like those private courses where only people with sticks up there you know what go and eat, even if it is in the 949. Great view. Great food.  Great service.  Price is reasonable too.

This course is overrated.  For $100 I'd rather play at Tustin Ranch.  The people that work were suprisingly not very friendly for a higher end golf course establishment.  We just had a lot of stares and glances.  I'm fat.  Get over it.  The course was in decent shape.  The pins were set up for a tournament but overall it wasn't that impressive.  But they do have a 600 yard par 5 which was definitely a tough hole but its not worth a second trip back.

Strawberry's a fantastic course. It's quite challenging with it's narrows fairways and decent length from the blue tees. It really puts a premium on driving well. There are a LOT of hazards so be prepared to lose some balls if your not hitting accurately and the greens can be pretty fast. You can come away with with quite a few balls searching for your own LOL. I have never scored well here unfortunately but enjoy the course immensely.
