There are two courses here, north and south. Since I have only played the south course I am limiting my comments to this one course. For a public course, Stowe Acres has a very nice well stocked pro shop. The putting area is easily accessible and well designed. The driving range is the only real negative aspect of Stow Acres, it is really beat up.

The south course is well laid out; in excellent condition tee to green and very fair. The number 2 stroke hole, 16, is a real test.  The second shot is a long blind up hill shot and even with a sound drive you need to hit a cut shot to get to the green in two. The 14th hole is a par 5 that is very deceiving. Play this one conservatively, if you try to go for the green in two you will get yourself in all kinds of trouble. Greens are firm and fast. All the par threes are nicely designed. The par 3 7th (I am writing from memory so forgive me if I have the number wrong) is a 212 yd hole.  Nice hole but better straight and short than long and right.

Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Worth the time and money.

Nice course, nice staff, your typical suburban public golf course.  I'd recommend this place to anyone.

There are two separate courses at Stow, the North and the South.  The North is the more challenging of the two.  It has about 500 more yards to it from the tips.  The South is shorter, but has a little more personality to it.  I usually end up playing the North because the South tends to be more crowded.  One thing I like about Stow is they have 4 (south) or 5 (north) sets of tees.  When you get to the first hole they tell you what tees you should play based on your handicap or driving distance (can't remember which).  If people go by these recommendations it can help speed up play. The tees are not your average colors, which I think helps some guys who maybe should be playing from the more forward tees save a little pride.  There is also a driving range down around the back and a nice pitching green by the clubhouse.
