I spent ten summers at Stonybrook Day Camp, moving from camper, to CIT, to lifeguard, and finally counselor.  Like me, much of the staff returned year after year.  These were wonderful summers.  Judging from the website, it doesn't look like much has changed, with the exception of the ownership.

It appears from the website that Steve and JoAnn Pine are no longer affiliated.  This is not surprising-I am hopeful that the new owner is running it the same way-as a small, friendly, non-competitive environment.  What I'd do for another bomb pop, to spend another rainy day at the movies in Succasunna, or to crab walk out of the pool one more time...

PS. In the interest of full disclosure, I spent the summers between 83-92 there, so my information is VERY dated.

History

Established in 1950

The Hollander family began this business in 1950.  Richard and Nancy Black purchased it from them in 1981.  Since then it has been owned and operated by the Black Family and is currently run by their son Roger.

Meet the Business Owner: Roger B.

Roger Black was born and raised in Livingston, New Jersey. Roger spent 13 summers at camp, including day camp, sleep away camp, and multiple camp-travel programs, including glacier skiing through Europe. For Roger, camp was more than just learning how to swim, ski, and play baseball. It was there that he met some of his best lifelong friends and learned to love camp.

Roger has worked hard to cultivate the loyalty, commitment to others, and leadership skills that he learned at camp, and these traits have stayed with him as an adult. Now, all grown up, Roger continues to help make things better for others. As a leader in the community, Roger has contributed his time and energy to United Jewish Appeal Metrowest, numerous Habitat for Humanities projects and is on the Board of Trustees at Temple Bnai Abraham.

After venturing out and making his way in the world, Roger has returned to camp--his first love--in order to continue operating Stonybrook, his family business.
