One of my favorite golf clubs when it comes to a wedding venue. Very nice design, excellent views, great reception and ceremony layouts. Convenient bridal changing room... Big Parking lot... Can be hot though...

I compared a lot of golf clubs in my career and what I particularly like about Stonetree is a fairly easy photography rules based on common sense which not limit you to photograph on terrace only like in some other golf clubs.
If I already touch this topic... Golf Courses sell their packages on how beautiful grounds are not to mention gorgeous views but many couples don't realize that they can't take those backgrounds and use them in their photos due to strict photography limits.
Before you book any golf course for a wedding, make sure photography rules are reasonable otherwise you might discover that your photos will be limited to some terrace or lobby area.
Stonetree Golf Club staff is very friendly and helpful and I highly recommend it as wedding venue to consider.

Very nice course and amazing club house.
I got some discount $45 tee times. Aside from rushing us out to the tee 30 minutes early and the ridiculous excuse for a range, the place is killer. Great design, especially in the hillside holes.
Beware the wind.
Shot a 95 here. Boo.

Last week I played Stonetree with a few friends. One of my friend only golf's about 4 times per year. His theory is that since he only plays a few times per year, he likes to go to top-of-the-line courses. He also likes to play course that are extremely hard. Let me be the first to say it's a horrible idea when you're a bad golfer. But Stonetree is certainly top-of-the-line and extremely hard so I went along with the plan.
The good: Overall Stonetree is in excellent condition, has a beautiful club house and a great staff. It was built within the past 5 years and has nice greens. I like the bag drop area and the young people who handle your bags. It's nice and makes me feel like I'm at a country club.
The bad: The first is the course layout. It's essentially two different courses. Part of it is dead flat and the other part goes up some serious hills. They did do a nice job of inter-mixing the flat vs. hill holes so they are divided up between the nines. So the first 6 holes are flat, the next 3 are hills, then 3 flat, then the dreaded four (I'll get back to these), and then the final 2 are flat again.
The entire course is links style and all about target golf. The flat holes have ungulated fairways so even if you are in the middle; you are most likely on a small mound. The holes in the hills are just plain difficult. And saying hills really doesn't do them justice. These are serious hills, so steep that they won't allow carts off the paths.
The dreaded four (13, 14, 15 and 16)
Check out the map http://www.coursecam.c... Keep in mind that the satellite map doesn't capture the elevation changes.
These holes are just plain wrong. 13 is straight up hill with OB on both sides and the green has three-tiers. 14 is like a giant V. You tee off on top of a hill, hit to the bottom and then go straight back up another hill. 15 is a long dogleg right with OB and oak trees all over it. And then there is 16... It's the final par 5 on the course. It has the skinniest fairway of any golf hole I've ever played. The final 200 yards is about 20 yards wide and even if you hit it, it will roll left into the hazard. I hate this hole and it needs to be either widened or blown up with a bomb.
Green fees are steep at Stonetree as well. Probably over $100 prime weekend rate. And on GolfNow they always say the price includes a free bucket of range balls. BTW, they don't have a range, it's a net so why they keep saying free range ball seems ridiculous to me.
I only advise playing here if you are like my dumb ass buddy who likes to pay through the nose and get his ass handed to him on difficult courses. Stonetree is hard but I would say its architecture is a bit contrived, unfair and penalizes good shots.
Nice, but with a number of issues.
The course is a little tight, but not so tough that a beginner couldn't come out and have a good time. You might want to bring a few extra balls because there are plenty of places to lose one. If you normally play from the whites, this is your chance to move back to the blues. The course is shorter than most around the Bay Area.
This is one of those pseudo-private country clubs. However, it is flat out the cheapest "country club" in the entire Bay Area. A membership here is MUCH cheaper than a round of golf every other week on the peninsula. Add to this a very nice clubhouse with restaurant/bar facilities and a locker room, and it's an absolute bargain. (The bar food was fantastic.) If I lived closer, I would pick up a membership here.
Unfortunately, the greens here have serious problems. There is a disease which is causing spotting all over the green. Putts do not roll true out here at all. Too bad, because that's the only real black eye on the course.
There is no driving range which, for a "country club" is inexcusable. In other words, if you are a member, you have nowhere to train other than to hit balls into a net. I have to believe that with all the open land around, they could acquire a couple acres to build a range.
Some of the members were a little snooty which, considering the dirt cheap membership fees, seemed slightly idiotic. This ain't no Olympic Club or Sharon Heights.
All in all, a great bargain if you live close by and a decent course if you're within 30 minutes. However, i wouldn't drive any further than that to give it a try.
Amazing golf course. The staff is friendly and the flow of play usally moves fast. The elevation change makes the course difficult and challenging while presenting the golfer with some great vista's and amazing holes to play.
The only thing missing is a full driving range, There is a warm up area with a net, but its not the same with out seeing the flight of your ball. The ability to walk this course it there but some of the later holes twist through the hills and walking would slow down overall for everyone on the course. Save you walking for another course!
Great course and the food at the reasturant is very good too!
I just played this course from the invite of one of the staff there. The course is fairly tight and you will need to bring your A-game. Not too forgiving on the missed fairways as there are cattails and water aplenty. The greens are tiered, so putting is pretty tricky. I managed to par most of the par 3s. However, the par 5s were a challenge. However, in the back nine you can let the big dog loose on the drives from the top of the hill. It is a fun course, like I said before. Bring your A-game. I have not tried the food there, maybe next time when I come back.
Very good course but, as with most golf courses, over-priced. The place has a bit of a snooty-factor and needs to be reminded that it's a public golf course, not Spyglass or Pebble.
It would be nice if it was more walkable but the back 9 has 3 or 4 holes with 200 yards between holes.
Interesting track that requires a good bit of course knowledge. What makes it unique are the groupings of holes; you can have 2 or 3 benign, level holes and then these mountainous uphills and elevated T-boxes. T-boxes good, greens are fast but fair and lots of drink carts making the rounds.
Pluses: All holes are different, very good condition overall, beautiful woods and scenery. Down side: overpriced and pretentious.
It's a great course if you can get on for $50--would never pay normal rate of $85.

Stone Tree is a really difficult, fun course to play. The biggest drawback is the fact that the layout is completely cart-dependent. Well, that and the driving range is a net about 15 yards from worn out astroturf mats.
There are a number of memorable holes, such as the uphill dogleg right 7th - that you can see from Highway 37 as you drive by. Stone Tree rewards accuracy above distance (I had neither when I played, and carded 9 penalty strokes for balls lost off of the tee). Lots of trouble on the tee, lots of fun from the fairway.
Book your tee time online and save $20 on a weekend round. If you are looking to splurge on a round of golf outside of SF, bring your "A" game and a few extra sleeves to Stone Tree.
Great golf, private club atmosphere and awesome food. What else can I say? I play golf all over the Bay Area and this is a great test of golf. Challenging, with 11 holes on the flat and 7 up into the hills, it's a great test of golf. Play well here, and you're going to play well at a lot of courses that are in the area.
The clubhouse is a beautiful structure overlooking the course, with the bar, restarurant and meeting rooms upstairs. The food is awesome, great lunchs, and appetizers. Unfortunately, they don't stay open for dinner, just not enough demand, yet. Sunday Brunches and special days like Mother's Day, Thanksgiving, etc.
The best part of this course is the fact that it is the best draining course in the Bay Area! It can pour rain and when it stops, the course is playable. If you don't want to slosh around in the mud, come paly Stone Tree, you won't be disappointed.
I don' t play golf...so I can only comment on the restaurant....Excellent food....excellent service. My mom was hoping to have my sister's wedding there...but she was too popular and we had it elsewhere...sore subj with my mom as the place chosen was a disaster...anyway...we have held birthday parties and baby showers here. It is a beautiful location.
