The wine that we tasted here was really, really good. I haven't really been too fond of a lot of the wine that comes from Door County, so finding this place was a pleasant surprise. They have both lower and upper level reds and whites. Their grapes are grown in California but the wine is made in Door County.
An added bonus - they produce a wine-infused chocolate sauce that is to die for. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.
Minus one star for the attitude. My friends and I are amateurs when it comes to wine - we really enjoy it, but most of us don't know a lot about it and are trying to learn. The woman who helped us did not seem impressed that we asked so many questions about what we were trying. Hi, you're a winery in freaking Wisconsin - do you really think lots of wine experts are going to travel up to visit you? Probably not. Lose the attitude and I'll be back for more.

A great little winery in Door County. It's a bit out of the way, but worth it for a wine tasting. They have a good selection of wines, and everyone in my party found one they enjoyed and wanted to take home. They also have a good selection of cheese spreads, dips, and gift ideas. I did find that they were less friendly than some of the other wineries in the area, but still worth it. At the very least, we each got to take home a wine glass along with our buzz!
The Stones Throw Winery was the first of the higher end wineries in Door County. They have a very nice wine tasting room with a good selection of other items besides just their wines. There wines are very good and are grape wines, not fruit wines. They have a good selection of reds and whites. I prefer reds, and their reds are very good. Some are a little pricey I think.
Great tasting room, extensive tasting menu, and quality wine. We went and tasted six or seven from their menu, and ended up buying several bottles. We were there for a customer appreciation day, so the tasting was free, but on a normal day, the tasting is only $4 and comes with a free glass. They buy all their grapes from growers in CA, then make it all at their winery, so don't think it's the stereotypical Door County cherry winery.
