About the Business
At Stone Oven, we are committed to perfecting the art of fast food. We've taken the ordinary sandwich and transformed it with such gourmet additions as unique flavored mayonaise's and freshly baked foccacia bread. Our open food stations allow customers to view expert bakers making our famous bread from scratch. This sumptuous bread is baked every fifteen minutes in a colossal stone oven. Heated to over 500 degrees and built to perfection, the oven is responsible for the savory aromas that surround the restaurant. While the customers decide between a crisp salad or a hot sandwich, we are constantly serving fresh samples of the bread. Warm, tasty, and oven-fresh, our foccacia is turning first time customers into regulars Look us up on facebook. Stone Oven Plaza Bonita in National City CA.

I have gone to stone oven numerous times and it's honestly one of my favorite places to eat at in plaza Bonita mall! (Located on the second floor close to Panda Express and the movie theater). By far one of the freshest places and healthier options.
This time, I ordered the strawberry poppy chicken salad (I think that's the correct name). The lettuce of the salad was fresh and the poppy dressing was tasty! However, I do think that I needed more strawberries to get an even ratio for the whole plate. And the plate of food is a good heaping portion of salad so they you are definitely getting your money's worth when you come here. If I'm not mistaken, every salad comes with focaccia bread! Which is so soft and very addicting.
Stone Oven is reliable and never disappoints. Definitely come here if you want fresh food!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 18, 2022Updated review
I've come by a few times since my last report. Like others I've had a very rude cashier to the point where I just cancelled my order and went to other place to eat.
Another time I asked for the Flatbread pizza and they are not making those anymore? Now I've been by a few times and either they are closed or cannot get any employees here. The place is dark but all the equipment is still there.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 4, 2020Previous reviewWe come here about once a month. We love that the bread is cooked fresh in the stove.
Our favorites is the BBQ brisket sandwich and the spicy chicken sandwich. The sides we normally get is the pesto pasta and the potato salad. Next I want to try their flatbread pizza.
So for under $10 you get a decent sandwich that is prepared in front of you. This is basically good for one meal unless you eat very little food.
Every once in a while you get a smart ass at the counter that you want to slap in the face. But overall the service is not to bad and the lines moves pretty fast.

One of my go to food spots at the mall. My favorite sandwich is the garlic & basil chicken with basil pasta salad.
The cook looked grouchy, didn't acknowledge me when I walked up. I get that he's not going to take my order, but a "hi, someone will be right with you" would've been nice. Anywhoo the cashier was cool, he had a hard time getting the lid to fit on my drink, I told him it wasn't a big deal. I usually don't order drinks there, but the mango lemonade sounded good and it was, not overly sweet.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 16, 2022
Meh. I don't think the ladies here really enjoy their job. Zero customer service. No eye contact, no thank you's, no my day is good, how about yours? You know the basics.
We came here on a Sunday evening and ordered a salad, a flatbread, and a sandwich. The woman said the flatbread would be 20 minutes. Fair. We waited over 40 minutes for our food and the pizza was burnt. Maybe if she was paying closer attention, we would have gotten it sooner and cooked appropriately.
The prices are fair, if the food matched. There's just zero love. There's hardly any like. Hopefully they can get it together cause it's nice having a fresh food option while shopping.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 30, 2022
We ordered through Uber Eats and had our meal delivered. It arrived well situated in the container. It looked delicious. My husband's sandwich, Spicy Chicken sandwich, was tasty. I had the Basil Garlic Chicken sandwich which was dry and barely had any flavor - I would not order this again. I did enjoyed the potato salad. I would rate this place a 3-star but my husband really liked his sandwich.

I didn't come order here personally, but my husband did while I was getting something else from the food court. I'm not sure what he got but it had some sort of barbecue sauce in it and it was good so this review is based solely on the taste of the sandwich.

I just ordered a cheese flatbread pizza. Ordered was placed at 5:19pm and just got my burnt pizza at 5:39pm. There were only 2 customers in front of me and actually the customer who ordered after me got his sandwich before I got my flatbread (making a sandwich requires a bit more effort than flatting some dough and put tomato sauce and shredded cheese on top). The place is ran by 3 young people who enjoy more teasing each other than attending customers. My flatbread was sitting on the edge of the oven for a few minutes before someone decided that it was worth it to be cooked. And when the guy took it out from the oven he made fun of how burnt the pizza was with another coworker. They changed behavior when they realized I was watching this "fun sketch" for the entire time.
I'm honestly upset to have spent money in such a poor business, but definitely I won't in the future.
A little advice for 1 of the 3 workers: try to impress the girl you work with outside of work, not in front of customers. You both should focus on the customers, not developing your personal interests.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nicole O.Santee, CA023Oct 30, 2022
There are many times during the middle of the day when you ask for a flatbread pizza and they tell you they aren't making pizzas today. Then you end up seeing them making a pizza for someone. I don't understand if it's just difficult for them to make it or they pick and choose who they are willing to serve.

Awful service. Unbelievably rude woman at the counter who apparently is the manager. She was short tempered with me when I tried to order the focaccia. She said they don't have enough bread. So then I said ok, can I get a turkey sandwich with nothing on it (meaning just the bread) and she said they can't do that. I was willing to pay $9.99 for the sandwich when the focaccia is only $4.75. I'm not sure why she didn't want to help me? I am always kind to everyone in customer service because I've been in their shoes. I'm so upset that she treated me so poorly and in front of my son. Horrible experience. You should NOT waste your money at a place that would treat people like that. Disgusting.

I'm only writing this review because it's kinda funny....ordered a turkey sandwich and they gave me ham, whatever. I go back for them to fix it and they claim that they gave me a turkey sandwich because that's what the label says....y'all I know the difference between turkey and ham how do you not? Obviously it got mislabeled. They would have gotten into major trouble if I was religious or allergic. Anyways...usually I have good sandwiches there
