Review from Kaaren D.
Newbury Park, CA
We loved this place. We were driving up to Estes Park, and stopped to get something to drink going and coming back. They are totally interested in recycling, and using earth friendly disposables, not to mention natural sodas, and good food and drink.

If in Lyons, this is the place where you should get your coffee. It's the best coffee house in Lyons, has an expansive menu and plenty of seating.
It's hidden off of main street but if you're in a fix and you're willing to drink something other than starbucks, come here. -

This is a must stop every year we are in town for the Folk Festival simply because of the breggo. What is a breggo you may ask? Some sort of breakfast calzone goodness that will make your day. Don't mess around with the bacon breggo (not enough meat), get the sausage and thank me later. Coffee is flavorful too and you can't beat the view.

I don't know how I've managed to live in the area as long as I have without ever going to the Stone Cup. But finally I gave it a try, and I was so pleased I did. The coffee was quite good, and the food that I've tried has been tasty. It has a little section in back with a cabinet full of toys, so my toddler is happy too. This is my new place to escape to if I feel like getting out of Longmont but don't want to deal with Boulder.

Sorry to break it to you Stone Cup- but you are seriously over rated and still riding the coat tails of your previous owners' business savvy and your prime location. Because you have no idea how to run a coffee shop.
To get ANYTHING from this place takes at least 10-15 minutes- even a cup of coffee! It is so ridiculous. Why, you ask? Because this is how they manage their staff:
Staff #1: Takes a person's order, rings them up, then leaves to make said person's food/drink
Staff person #2: Takes a person's order, rings them up, then leaves to make said person's food/drink
Staff person #3: oh sorry- they cant take your order for a cup f coffee because Staff #3 is waiting behind staff #2 for the espresso machine so she/he can make his/her previous customers drink.
And on and on. It is so ridiculous that they have not realized to have Staff #1 on the register, Staff #2 on the espresso machine, etc. It is NOT a new concept. Ever heard of Henry Ford?
One day my kid left his hat there so I had to go back. And wait in line for TWENTY minutes to ask for the hat!
I love supporting local businesses in Lyons, but I am so over this place. -
Review from Angela M.
The Stone Cup is pretty much the embodiment of what I expected of a Colorado coffee joint. On a sunny Sunday morning, the day of the Folks festival, the line was out the door, but so was the charm. There was live music. There were children playing on the play ground. There were friendly faces and hordes of cyclists. They were even handing out samples of the banana bread for those waiting in line!
The menu might not seem like much (bagels, quiche, burritos, breggos (breakfast calzones), and baked goods), but there seems to be something to please everyone. Still being full from too much barbecue the night before, I opted for the granola with yogurt. I was thrilled that the yogurt was plain, since so many places give you vanilla, which is just too much sweetness for me in the morning. My dining companions all got breggos, which came highly recommended from our local friends. I had a taste of the Santa Fe, which was good, but nothing to write home about. The thing that impressed me the most about the breggos was that the contents were marked on the outside with the dough (SF for Santa Fe, -- for Veggie, X for Sausage, or something like that).
The staff was friendly and relaxed, but they kept the line moving. Practically everything they give you is compostable, and what's not is recyclable. Plus they make it easy for the lazy folks by having a bus bin if you're not confident enough to sort your waste in the right bin yourself.
I really liked the attitude - the art on the walls, the open air, the plants, and of course the sayings:
"Unattended children will be given espresso and a free kitten" and "Unattended vehicles will be given a free paint job by the Lyons Elementary First Grade." -

A little unassuming on the outside but full of life on the inside. You think it's just a small town cafe before you walk in but it has tons of charm and lots of hippie attitude once you're inside the doors.
The cater to the coffee and tea crowds but also have good sandwiches and some awesome banana bread with chocolate chips.
We had a club sandwich on wheat bread (they don't serve white bread!) that came with tortilla chips and some small carrots. Very good!
They have an outside patio area, an inside dining room that looks like a old garage with a bunch of different tables and chairs that don't match and some chairs right by the register if you're not with a lot of people.
Check out the bathroom. It's a single and it looks like it could be in your house. They also chain their menu to the toilet paper dispenser so you have something to read while doing your business.
Definitely check this place out if you're passing through Lyons. I love the area. Very scenic and slow-paced. It seems like it's a bit of a hippie haven, which I don't mind one bit. -

A sunny summer Sunday morning on the patio of The Stone Cup in Lyons, Colorado. Coffee, fresh orange juice, mocha, banana bread, quiche, egg & ham breakfast sandwich, chocolate chip cookie, latte (whole milk please!) . . . . still a little bit of the crisp night air hanging on . . . a sure sign that fall is on its way.
The Stone Cup isn't fancy, but it feels comfortable . . . like you just want to sit and enjoy life. Have another latte . . . winter is coming . . . the patio will be covered in snow soon. Enjoy the sun while you can. -

I had stumbled upon The Stone Cup this Saturday when some friends and I decided to grab a bite before heading to my brother's wedding. Although none of us were from Colorado, we all decided that this tiny cafe was what we wanted that morning!
The place is very cozy, artsy, and had so much attitude --- my kinda place! There were a lot of people whom you can tell were local regulars. This place was exactly what I thought Colorado would be like.
I had ordered a Strawberry Italian Soda with a Strawberry Shortbread. Although I was freezing and just ooze desert-dweller from my pores [I was the only one wearing a heavy wool jacket XD], I wanted something cold and fruity.
And boy was I satisfied! The soda was delicious with just enough syrup and the shortbread was soft yet crispy and packed full of flavor!
My friends had all ordered miscellaneous breakfast sandwiches and they looked yummy as well. But if you want something more pastry-like, go for the shortbread! -

Had breakfast here during the week. Loved the atmosphere, and I would love to come back for one of their evenings with music. The food was good, the coffee was strong. I dig the artsy-ness and the eco-friendly theme. It seems this place is a gathering place for the locals. Nice to see that these days. We will be back !

It's actually called The Stone Cup. I reallllllllly enjoyed this cafe. I was in Lyons for the RockyGrass Bluegrass Festival and every morning I went into the Stone Cup for a well made latte and scone. It's a classic Colorado cafe- artsy, small town feeling, creaking wood floors and a beautiful outside porch area to sit and watch the local hippies and to look at the scenery. I wish they had something like this in Chicago. If you're ever passing by Lyons on your way to Estes Park or Allen's Park check it out!

Two words... "Monster Cookie"! The other reviewers hit the nail on the head with this one. The "express pay" is nice when you just want some coffee or are in a rush. The Stone Cup really looks out for their customers.

Drove up to RMNP this weekend and our party needed some coffee before we headed up. I only picked Stone Cup because of the reviews we saw on Yelp. This was a great place. They had a great selection of coffee and the staff was helpful. I also liked that they had breakfast and lunch sandwiches. I had a simple Chai Latte with soy which was delicious. I think if I'm ever in Lyons again, this will be my go to place for coffee.

San Francisco, CA
I was surprised to find this gem in the place, which is not that big after all. The staff is friendly and environmentally friendly, as you would expect in the county Boulder. The food is good. Coffee descent. Power sockets - plenty of. The only negative I could find - why would they close at 4 pm? That would be a serious limitation if I stayed in Lyons longer. Happy to have found that place anyhow.

Lyons, CO
Excellent Coffee House. Good variety of sandwiches, sweets and snacks most homemade. Recently expanded inside to include art, more tables and a infrequently used bar for wine tasting, etc. Kid friendly - has a small outdoor play area, outside tables. Participates in lots of local events such as Art shows and pie tasting. Very Eco conscious even offers spaghetti pasta for stirring coffee.

This is a perfect stop between Boulder and Estes Park. The coffee shop has a great outdoor area and is very comfortable to hang out at for a while. Their play area is great for the kids so mom and dad can sit and enjoy coffee while the little ones burns off energy.
