3 reviews for Stockton Grand Hotel
The hotel itself is a quite nice facility with a decent workout room with high tech equipments (tv on a treadmill) and pool. There's a bar downstairs and coffee shop, bar, and small bakery across the street. The location though is just funky...maybe it's the whole town of Stockton but I would NEVER go there if it wasn't for someone's wedding like it was for this visit. There's nothing there...it seemed like the whole surrounding was run down and there's really nothing but fast food restaurants. I really don't know how this hotel can survive.
When we asked for an advice on food around there, the concierge said "oooh, I don't know...Olive Garden?"...that right there I just cut him off and decided to go find food on our own. Who suggests a chain restaurant to a out of town guests who are looking for a decent meal?
We asked for a taxi and learned that there are only two companies in the whole city of Stockton and they are NOT RELIABLE AT ALL. They called for a cab a few hours ahead of time but they still showed up late. We were mad at the concierge but I think it's the cab company.
The saving grace for this hotel is that they totally saved us when the same two taxi companies flaked on us after the wedding we attended and we were almost stranded in the middle of fu****g Stockton, they actually sent one of their employees to come pick us up in her personal car!! What an amazing service. That's what I call guest service. Because of that, I'm giving 4 stars.
I just don't know what you'll need to stay in a hotel in this area for...EVER... Find a bed at your friend's house.
Went here for a birthday celebration in one of the ballrooms...now I think I know what Iraq looks like. How can a hotel have guests when the lobby is a side entrance with a card table with a granite slab on top, nice. That is after I dodge all the construction equiptment and debris to get there. Then being instructed to follow the mess to the ballroom.
I feel for the hostess of the party, as she spent the better part of two weeks crying to my significant other about the mess. How dare they promise to throw nice event, I'd demand my money back plus damages.
The catering was nice but in now way makes up for the surroundings. Shame on them...
